Fished that lake a few times brilliant lake, my mate had big red about a foot of the pellet feeder, he had a whole lead clip system bottom bait rig inside a massive pva bag. Absolute shocker had no right to catch it 😂

Aaron - Willow Bank is a PVA bag water, keep recasting every hour or so and you will have them steadily on there, even in winter. They are just so accustomed to pva bags now. Good luck!

I would suggest pva bags or like you did too start mesh bags are also a good tactic, don’t loose your head and second doubt yourself
Also don’t look into it being a big fish cause you snapped off being mono it could be a number of things line could of been week/damaged or twisted through playing fish with a loose drag or reeling with the drag causes line twist so better too back wind in my opinion and if you had set the drag too locked up it won’t take a lot too snap..
Also with the bivvy don’t zip the bag all the way up leave it open abit so air can get in and let it breath 👍

Regarding the bivvy give it a good airing, groundsheet as well, keep at it, don’t give up and be positive, you caught! Your just under prepared, good set of waterproofs and plenty of spare clothes (socks are a must) don’t drink cider if your cold! 😅😅 have a soup, trust me you’ll learn to love it ❤

Little hays / big hays live system bottom baits with blood worm pellets and hemp and blood worm liquid. Soak a pot of boilies in amino 365 and cover in glm powder . Don’t use pellets on big hays , bream . I’ve had multiple catch’s on this . 24 fish in 36 hours on little Hayes

Don't lose heart mate, I fish willowbank a fair bit and it's a funny lake, if they're on it in your spots it can be a great lake but at other times you wonder if there's any fish in there! I'd also love to get big red, one day I will catch it!
Also pva bags to the far bank are usually a winning tactic, as tight to the reeds as you can get

Enjoyed that mate don’t be to worried you just wasn’t prepared for the weather, 2 things for me and don’t mean to sound patronising but this is autumn fishing mate not winter fishing yet wait till January/February then your be a lot colder then 😂 and seeing you only just started in March I wouldn’t even be considering a campaign for a certain fish or chasing 20s and 30s just enjoy your fishing and enjoy it don’t worry about anything bud, your still going to be learning alot mate, I’ve been doing it for a very long time and still learning everytime I go. Look forward to the next one mate 👍

Thanks for the comment mate! I’m not too sure if you’ve followed my journey but I’ve been catching carp since I was a toddler! However I grew up more into the match angling scene, pole fishing, feeder, waggler etc.. so I’m not new to fishing as such but new to ‘carp fishing’ I spent the first few months of the year learning the basics because before moving onto some waters with bigger fish in. I broke a PB (12lbs) early summer.. I then broke it again (15lbs) mid summer and at the back end of summer I was hunting a 20 which I got! I am always learning and very happy to catch carp of any size but as I’m also making videos I wanted to set myself a few targets as this would make an entertaining series for my TH-cam channel whilst keep me on my toes while fishing! I was definitely unprepared for this trip. A lot has been learned from this one!

Oh I didg find it amusing mate. I once fell in on a 48he stint when setting up I get dropped off by my misses no spare clothes had to put my socks on the frying pan to dry them out much to my mates amusement .it's all a learning curve.bung a bag of spare clothes in the boot of your car and take a hot water bottle and plenty of grub and winter can be very rewarding.. Good luck on your venture don't give up and youl get there.
