Post-Covid, it seems like Business at Jewel isn't picking up despite reopening borders. Either that or rentals are sky high (notorious in Singapore due to land and property prices). A lot of 24/7 shops stopped the 24h service. Some shops even shuttered. In the heartlands, in Orchard Road, in City Hall, and in Jewel. On a side note, we can go maskless indoors now! Except public transport.
Love this airport too, have also spent a 24 hour layover here back in 2018 all within security side, luckily for me was pre covid times, so yes got to see the buttefly garden, the multiple movie theaters and so much more since many terminals you could travel to and from ✌😁, one day will get there agajn and exit out of security and see the Jewel fountain and Singaore itself 🙏

No it's not that expensive... It's circumstantial. If you eat at cafes and restaurants yes it's expensive. But if you buy a 3 room hdb in non mature estates, eat at kopitiam cai beng or cook at home, take public transport... How is it expensive?
Gonna try to be objective: the most expensive things in Singapore are *cars, housing and healthcare*. Food, public transport, utilities, phone bills and internet are *pretty affordable*, considering the average purchasing power of a working adult (which is higher than places like Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, etc). *Cars*: an expensive liability. You can live without it as public transport is pretty good. But you can consider Car rental services like BlueSG *Housing*: couples can finance a HDB mortgage mostly with CPF (a mandatory, more flexible 401k). But singles have to be 35 years old and above to own a home, which really sucks. *Healthcare*: both healthcare and insurance costs have been rising rapidly the last few years. Nevertheless, it's still good to have a Hospitalization plan-- a simple surgery can cost you $20-50k and wipe out your savings overnight. With a full time career and proper financial planning, most can live quite comfortably in Singapore. But it can be hard for lower income families.
public transportation is cheap compared to other countries cause gov wants to encourage public transportation instead of people buying cars as its bad for the env
