I have Asperger's and my version causes me to memorize certain monologues at first hearing. The "Vinz Clortho" monologue was one of them. I can STILL do it on command. Just the WAY Moranis uses his phrasing and energy is too brilliant.
According to the backstory to the film, even how he acquired those was a bit dubious. I belive there was even a cut scene that partially alludes to it.
This movie is as Canadian as back bacon. Just one of the MANY reasons it's a masterpiece. Nothing about this movie should have worked and yet... it worked. I remember not hearing the "I feel so funky." line in theaters because the audience always erupted at "He slimed me..."
points of interest: I like the fact that you 'just roll with' these 80's stories like we did when they came out, instead of being a 'millennial' about it and over-analyzing. Simply put, we were truly raised different. Also, you don't mention the 'cheesy' 80's special effects. Even WE KNEW the effects were cheesy. We also knew that it was the best we had. The STORY and ACTING were the draw to see a movie multiple times.
Nuclear Accelerator is basically a Particle Accelerator or Collider. The unlicensed part is their use of nuclear fuel for the power cell. Someone suggested that the crossing of the streams together collided the protons and made anti-protons which is like antimatter if I remember correctly. According to the cartoon series crossing the streams will create a thermonuclear blast. Hence the term "Total Protonic Reversal."
Between 1984 and 1990 I watched this movie 134 times. After that I stopped counting. It remained my favorite movie for a few more years and till now is still my number 2 movie of all time. I love it. Also I am one of those who don't see it as a comedy. I see it as a sci-fi/horror movie with comedic elements. I don't care what others think. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

The way they did that index card trick in the beginning is someone on the other side pushed it out and then blew into a straw to shoot them out of the drawers.

I didn't know this was a novel first, and I probably wouldn't use the elevator. Just thought it was hilarious how tired they were and still had so much to go lol
Not a particularly scary one, though. Which is okay. Would love to see a straight up more horror-style one though. Maybe animated. Or a new video game.
@@Luka1180 It kinda takes inspiration from some B-movies too, such as the King Kong or Godzilla style scene involving the Marshmallow Man. Its so ludicrous that it becomes funny in its own right.

7 years old when I saw this in the theater. Can't even begin to guess how many times I've seen it since. Also had the video game on the C64.
