I think its Pylon Imp for better me, because you can get some good damage and splash if you time it right. His mech also useful for holding/defending with the Mines to defend and the Boost to charge in and self-destruct.

@@kinderofficial8104 The LB is not totally useless, the problem is that the tornado disappears when it hits slightly sloped terrain. The only way to get around this is by jumping in the air and throwing the tornado so it doesn't hit slopes in its way.

The whirlpool on the shrimp mech does have some use, although it’s really too slow of an activation It’s great for fighting chompers, since they do so much damage if they get up close, you just send them away so they’re completely useless and you kill them Also it takes people out of Gatling and sunbeam, though usually it’s probably better to just straight up kill them instead
2:53 The LB ability can be whipped at plants and it carries them away, kind of like the LB for the Z7 mech. It does actually do damage though, and it also keeps the pant still so you can shoot them with the shrimpy beam.
Of the three Imps I have (reg, shrimp, and drake), I like shrimp the most. An accurate and strong primary, an overall decent mech, and no effect that cancels out another. Drake’s fire is good, but it thaws frozen enemies. Pylon, as you said, is more of a utility class, which isn’t how I like to play Imp. Edit: While playing with pylon in the mystery portal, I noticed that the imp himself is kinda crazy, it’s just the mech that is just a sort of utility character.
Pylons mines are pretty good not because there hidden (there actually really obvious to see) but when playing as plants you don’t expect to see mines, as zombies you’re always on the lookout for potato mines but you don’t expect it as plants meaning they can be placed in more obvious spots and they’ll probably get you.
Time for an explanation... Shrimp does shoot fast as we all know so he has a good benefit but he does 6 damage per hit and 7-8 for a headshot (I think) so that’s good and the mech is exactly the same and the abilities aren’t the tornado is sort of bad if you ask me and same for the other ability but he is a sharpshooter and does pack a lot of damage Pylon imp is different he does LOTS of damage knowing he’s an imp and fires 2 explosive cones every 1-2 seconds (I think) that is quite good but the shrimp does 6-8 damage per Half a second..ish shrimp would do more damage but compared to the mechs the pylon imps mech is way better (in my opinion anyway) the dash is perfect and the cones do come with a steady punch and the primary is just an improved version of the primary on the pylon imp which is good This is my conclusion: shrimp is worse Edit: if you don’t agree then fine be it but it is only my opinion

Lol, I only recently found out that the LB on the shrimp mech works if your in mid air on in a "perfectly" flat terrain, otherwise if it hits even a grain of sand it just fucking dies, I found jumping first then using it gets more distance on the tornado, which sweeps plants up like nobody's buisnuess
For me Shrimp and Drake are my go to’s. Shrimp was my first mastered imp! I’ve been on 30 player kill streaks with this guy I know how to make good use of his abilities Shrimp is and always will be my favorite character in the entire game.
I think that drake is a good example of what the imp should be not a gigantic threat that will kill your whole team just a huge nuisance and annoyance because of the fire damage
I rather like the Pylon Mech - does a ton of damage and has the ability to drop pylon bombs and sprint run over enemies. Never got the hang of the Shrimp mech.

I read though the comment section and I just realized everyone hates shrimp. I personally feel a whole lot more accurate with shrimp, he’s my favorite imp. But then again agent pea is my favorite peashooter, painter is my favorite engineer, pops is my favorite corn and I basically main captain deadbeard.

In my opinion all imps are great, but they just play differently. My least fav is lil drake because of fire rate and projectile speed. But that is just opinion I guess.
My issue with shrimp is that he doesn't have any special gimmick, PvZ almost never does this but its literally a worse version of his original, Archaeologist for example has no gimmick. Baseball Star has no gimmick. Shrimp has no gimmick, but by default he gets a mech so that could make the difference, and even then, his mech has the lowest energy of all the imps.
Pylon is an incredible character. His damage output up close makes him super scary. Plus his mech is the fastest and has the most utility of any other mech
In my opinion drake is the worst imp yeah the fire damage is nice but his firerate is lower than the other rapid fire imps wich makes longer range fights more annoying and the mech sucks. And party imp is indeed a sick character
Funny enough shrimp mech has a charge jump like sb where the longer you hold space or A the higher he jumps , this can be used in tandem with his right ability(if you can do movement conts like sb falcon kick extensions) to get a powerful cross map jump
It's tough man, people say pylon but as a pylon imp player his splash damage is lowkey op, especially If you have campers that sit in one spot. Then you have the mines to cut them off after you've destroyed them
I love the Shrimp mech. The beam absolutely guns down plants, and the jump ability actually covers solid distance, meaning you could get a pick and dip, or you could use your second charge after over-extending to back up / around cover. His whirlpool can disposition groups of people, which is great to get a pick and dip. With Pylon, his abilities don’t really synergise for me.
I'd say that Pylon is the better one of the two. Generally speaking, Pylon's guns (mech gun included) are pretty forgiving and hit high damage if you can get directs, and the Mech's abilities I find overall better than the Shrimp Mech, the dash is good for damaging and traversing, and the pylon mines can get a lot of work done by sticking them on objectives (stick them around corners on team vanquish). My only issue is that the HP of Pylon Mech is lower but I don't really think that ends up being very important in the end.
I think shrimp is the best because of his mech and the fact that pylon shoots in 2 round bursts, and if you miss then ur practicality dead, also his mech has less health But I don't think there really are any 'bad' imps tho
