Thank you Pastor Washer. About 7 years ago we were invited to a local Church as they embarked on a temporary interim replacement process AGAIN. At the end of a year of looking in the "mirror", we were ready to call a candidate. I grew up in the conference and knew a lot of leaders, so I phoned the candidate before he came to ask 2 questions. He had 15 years of Church planting under his belt. My first question was; 1) How many times have you read your Bible through in 12 months from cover to cover? ...............There was a long silence. ANS: "I guess I NEVER HAVE." He lasted 5 years. I have come to the conclusion that Gideon's filter is that question. God does NOT need an army of thousands, he needs a few hungry passionate men who recognize their inability to lead without KNOWING GOD. (DEPENDENCE)

Amen! My husband and I held staff positions in 13 different ‘church’ buildings over a span of 20 years. We finally couldn’t take it anymore. Never had we seen so much adultery, fornication, lies, theft and false teachings even in the world. And that was just between the pastoral staff! We either got fired, or had to resign because of our stance to just doing church the way God has already told us to do in His Word. God is and had always been good. We serve Him in different ways now.

Paul Washer is completely correct on what’s happening to many churches, not only in America but throughout the world. Concerning Pastors with tattoos, I always took into consideration that at one time in their life they had led a sinful life but later turned to Christ and abandoned that old life style to serve Christ.

While I completely understand the importance of fellowship and would NEVER forsake it, my family and I are struggling to find a Bible-based church in our area. We do not want to go to church, just to go to church. We want to worship in truth! All the churches we have visited and previously attended are sadly lacking in truth and wisdom- they literally just "play church". I have been praying daily during my morning Bible study time for the Lord to lead us to a Bible-based church but He has not led us quite yet so in the meantime, we watch Paul Washer and Adrian Rogers videos.

As one who is about to embark in a church plant in Athens, Ohio... a place that is very disinterested in the King and bored with His bride's simple dress..., this is always a needed sobering message. "Increase Your fear in me." Great prayer. Great message. I praise God that I am in agreement. This encourages me as I look toward ministry in the future. May I, may we, be found faithful with the ones whom our Lord entrusts to our care. God, be merciful and gracious to us, for your name's sake!

Yes he does. 90% of the sermons he preaches when at a church for more than one day are about the love of God. His joy is in the love for the glory and reputation of God. He has a tremendous love for people. He's a missionary and started a Heartcry Missionary Society. They support over 380 missionary families.

I believe the reason people play church is because they see God like they see a movie star they may be able to quote every word from their movies and they might honestly love that movie star and think they are great people but do they have a personal relationship? That's the difference.

Going to church ⛪️ these days seems like going to a movie theater 🎭 or a secular venue.
My biggest issue with so-called churches is that they preach a watered down gospel that appeals to both children and adults alike. In other words they paint a picture of God as if He were a doting grandfather 👴 of some sort. They might make him look like the nice guy that loves everyone regardless of who they are and what they’ve done.
Finally, preachers pastors and the church ⛪️ as a whole should lead by example. All my life I thought 💭 that pastors should take all the time in the world 🌎 to pray 🙏 and do everything they can to help people who are struggling and whatnot. Aren’t pastors supposed to be sensitive about the lost? But it seems like pastors and church people are too busy for me. They’ll do anything as long as it doesn’t interfere with their own time routine or schedules. It’s almost like they don’t care 🤷

For years I have shared with online Christians to dare their pastor to conduct a survey/poll to see how many in their congregation have ever read the whole new testament or whole bible once.
Recently I told this to a senior pastor of a Calvary Baptist church and in 1 second , he replied...I wouldn't do it. Many if not most pastors do not know or read their bibles or preach it. They preach NON FAT DRY MILK TYPICAL TOPICAL SERMONS. The result??? CRIME & CLERGY CONNECTION-TRICKLE DOWN IMMORALITY. REAL CHRISTIANITY COUNTERS BARBARIANISM AND THE PERVERTED ,DEPRAVED CULTURE OF OUR TIMES...LACK OF SALT & LIGHT..

Biblically, there is no role in the bible for the position of pastor. Elder, Overseer, Deacon, and Evangelist yes. We should present the church as beautiful. Beauty that comes from the inside. Like loving relationships and zeal for God and his word. The weird point from the video is that we can't present the church as beautiful. Love is beautiful. Awkward lesson.

I would agree, but Pastor and Elder are synonymous for those who hold the positions. Technically, elder is the term. The idea overall is under-shepherd of Jesus Christ.

Even worse? Check out the Sylvania First United Methodist Church service on their TH-cam channel at 9:30am Eastern time! 1) they have a FEMALE pastor, 2) they tend to preach "love your neighbor" while simultaneously disobeying God. No homosexuals at that church yet, but they still accept anyone who commits that sin.

As it's stated in revelation that when the true Christ returns that he only found two churches he found favor with out of all the churches on the planet just two they were teaching God's word truthfully and what the key of David is and who the kinnittes are, there are some good pastors and teachers out there who teach gods word truthfully and don't water it down, the majority don't and a lot of people are being decived and most will not even know Satan is who he is when God gives Michael the order to kick Satan and his fallen angels to earth and will think he's Jesus Christ,Satans gonna be using scriptures just like he did Jesus Christ when he tempted him but he twist it into a lie to suite himself and most people won't know because for one they haven't been taught gods word truthfully and secondly they don't read God's word for themselves book by book chapter by chapter verse by verse front to back over and over and over so they can't be decived by Satan

I don't have a Pastor because I don't go to church. I am the church, part of the body of Christ.
I left the institutional Sunday set up a number of years ago. Audience pew sitters listening to the one man at the front is not what I read about in scripture.
I meet with brothers and sisters and do life with them. I'm not reliant on a 20 minute sermon and a hymn sandwich.

      @AlwaysReforming1  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thanks for the comment.
I agree that many evangelical churches do not reflect the pattern in the Bible, but that does not mean that we are obeying God by not submitting ourselves to Biblically qualified elders and gathering together with the saints. When I was first saved I felt the same way that you did until I read the book of Acts and saw that God operates through the local church, a local assembly of His “called out ones.”
Here is an example of the first church having 12 main teachers and then electing deacons. The whole church (gathering) was pleased with the decision:
“Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists[a] arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. 2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers,[b] pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.” (Acts 20:28)
Here is an example of pastors and teachers:
”The elders who lead well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor at preaching the word and teaching.“
      ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭LSB‬‬
      bible.com/bible/3345/1ti.5.17.LSB
      Who is leading you?
Next, what leaders are you submitting to? The ones who will give an account for your soul:
”Obey your leaders and submit to them-for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account-so that they will do this with joy and not with groaning, for this would be unprofitable for you.“
      ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭17‬ ‭LSB‬‬
      bible.com/bible/3345/heb.13.17.LSB
How do you obey the verse above?
Here is a response to your situation that better answers it clearly. I hope this is helpful, and I am sorry for the failed institutions that have failed to be the body of Christ in your past. The reformation is never over.
DR. JOHN TWEEDDALE: “The writer to the book of Hebrews in chapter 10 explicitly tells us that we are not to forsake the gathering together of ourselves as Christians. We might even go a step further and say in the New Testament, there is no such thing as a churchless Christian. There's no lone ranger Christian in the New Testament, because we understand all who are united to Christ are also united to one another. And so, as Christians, we're to delight to gather together; we want to be together as Christians. And so, a local church represents a local gathering of Christians, a particular people, in a particular place, at a particular time, celebrating the work of King Jesus. And so, in the New Testament, you'll have the church in Thessalonica, the church in Ephesus, the church in Rome. Christ calls His disciples to gather in local congregations to do His work. And so, we have an explicit command to gather together.
But we also understand that Jesus gives gifts to His people for the building up of the body of Christ. One of the most important passages along this line is in Ephesians 4, where we have the ascended Lord Jesus Christ, who rules and reigns over His church by His Holy Spirit, giving gifts to His people. Those gifts are not given to be hoarded, right? They're given to His people for the building up of the body of Christ. And so, the Lord Jesus has given you, Nathan, gifts that He's not given me. And if I'm not gathering together on the Lord's Day with you, I'm going to be deprived of something that Jesus has given you for the betterment of the people of God. And so, we have to realize that Jesus gives gifts for the building of His people.
But then the last part I want to say here is if we don't gather together as Christians, we have no way of fulfilling the commands in the New Testament"to make disciples, to evangelize, to worship, and to fellowship. Think of all the "one another" passages. We're to love one another; we're to pray for one another; we're to endure hardships with one another. How can we do these things if we're not gathering together? And so, the answer to the question, Why does it matter if I attend a local church? It matters because attending a local church is an expression of your love for Jesus. If you love Jesus, you also love those for whom He died, and that compels you to go to your local church.”

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

@@jannaswanson271 the church won't be perfect until Christ appears.
I just long to be part of a body of brothers & sisters who are real, transparent and are not wearing masks.
My wife & I opened our home for a time to believers where we would gather round the table with a bring and share meal, the conversation at the table was warm, it was open, it was life. We would share bread and wine and then get down to the nitty gritty of praying for one another, share testimonies and sing hymns. There was no reliance on one man to preach, there was no hiding place. You came as you were, on a high or on a low, doing good or doing bad.
Sadly the gathering was not in the right timing and it fizzled out. But, we got a taste for what doing real fellowship was about. And, the beauty of it was, it wasn't on a Sunday and it wasn't in and out in an hour. We spent several hours together, doing life!

@@muppetonmeds I am with you totally with that piece of scripture. But, my point is that church today is audience participation where all sit in lovely rows of pews/seats, they belt out a few hymns, notices are read out, a 20-30 minute sermon is preached that most forget what is said by the time they leave the building and it's all about the next programme, or seminar. There's a handful of folk who will serve but for the majority it's just people going through the Sunday motions.
Never was the gathering of the church meant to be what we see (in the west especially) today. It shouldn't be about one man at the front with his degree in theology, preaching to the audience.
Read Acts to get a picture of what the church is suppose to be about!
I'm glad I walked away from the man made institutional settings that are common of a Sunday. God is shifting his true church and persecution is building in the west and will lead to the real believers going underground to meet. What you'll have left in the Sunday institution settings is a government controlled cotton wool, twisted gospel preached that is pleasing to the ear.

      Thanks for the comment.
"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
God created the world where there was no sin and everything was good. Adam and Eve, your ancestors, caused sin to enter the world. Hell was created for the angels who had already fallen, not for mankind because they were created innocent. Because God cannot learn anything, He chose to create the world with the choice to sin, but is not the author of sin. Mankind is responsible for all sin. God chose to create the world to demonstrate His glorious attributes. He gives grace mercy to unworthy people and judges all evil justly. Praise God for His beautiful character! Anyone who believes that they have sinned against God by lying, stealing, lusting, or hating someone else, can be saved by hating their sin and believing that God in His mercy and love sent His Son Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man to live the perfect life for us, die the death that we deserve for our sin, and rose again thee days later. This is good news. Trust in Jesus and live. If you'd like to discuss this further, or God uses it to work in your heart, email me @ alwaysreformingofficial@gmail.com
