Book of John is how i became a believer, after reading it so many times. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All thungs were made through Him and without him nothing was made.
Don’t worry too much about it, love the Lord, love people and serve faithfully Psalm 37: 4: Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 😊
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. This lines up with what Paul Washer was talking about when he said to ask yourself what you want to do. If you delight in God, your desires will be good, and God will be happy to give them to you.
This was so helpful, I’m greatly encouraged. When I see broken people I could weep for them (and I do). How I can best serve them and glorify the Lord is steeping myself in the Word so that He will equip me to proclaim the good news of Jesus.
many years ago i was saved into the pentacostal doctrine and was immediately expected to hand out tracts on the street and to share the word of God. i was also leading worship because i could play guitar, lead sunday school and house group meetings. i even went knocking on doors to try and share the gospel. i knew very little of scripture and the so called gifts of the spirit. i was led to beleive that my faith was weak if i failed in any of these. because of the lack of real discipleship i fell away and for years i felt i was not good enough and hoped God would forgive me for my lack of faith. now i know what i went through was not the truth. Praise God that he was with me through all my doubts and fears and by his grace led me to lie down in green pastures, beside quite waters and restored my soul. i now now the truth and it has set me free. praise his glorious name
I think that your gift is where you are. Are you helping in the nursery and find joy there? That’s your gift. The aspect of doing where you are- can be so helpful if everyone is so worried about not having a gift.
Much needed discussion! You both have different views of the grace gifts. I perceive that Washer has a view similar to my previous Assembly (I got saved in a Plymouth Brethren setting). Two perceptions of the grace gifts have emerged (not even considering the Pentecostal views). The two could be defined as day-to-day workers in the field view and paid preachers view. Washer, probably not realizing it, seems to favor the paid preachers view. At the beginning, Washer skipped over the primary requirement when citing one of the most important passages related to the grace gifts. He quoted Romans 12, but started at verse 2 rather than verse 1, when citing how to know the will of God. Paul (the apostle in the field) in verse 1 says , "Therefore, I urge you brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God- this is your true and proper worship." The Book says that commitment is preclusive to knowing God's will (as well as a renewed mind). The old saying goes that the cook and the guests have differing levels of commitment to the Thanksgiving dinner, but the turkey is wholly committed. As well as offering your whole self to the Lord's service, prayer goes together with the grace gifts- like peas and carrots. Please also see www.GraceStudy.weebly.com .
When i was in the Word for 3 hours a day and praying to charge my self upon in my most holy spirit to be able to receive/perceive the gifts of the Spirit, when my giftings manifested that defined what my calling was. Giftings are particular to callings. Also, God was speaking to me through and giving me "the vision" for my life. While i was expecting an actual vision, the "vision" form I received was God speaking to me in the Word, the bible. The Word says to write the vision down and wait for it, that, as i mature, the vision will msnifest.
This so true I didn't even realize I had become a pharisee christian at 17 but fail, with my continued sin and then walk away out of shame because and also looking at my peers as I grew up. Just now have I been humble and fully crush, one thing I love is reading scripture and learning about God knowing him more, A.W Tozer and Leonard Ravenhill with Paris Reidhead my biggest human inspirations after Christ. I didn't realize such could be a gift, I am able to speak in tongues and also feel the Holy Spirit in such a deeper measure now that I Have repented and seen His Light more greater than the little I had taste. I don't care about any of such gifts all I want is to know God more through his word and his lonesome prophets. That is my joy now, while I let The Holy Spirit do what it wants. This life is just too full of distractions until you truly are Still o is so Great.
It is a spiritual gift. It is not something we "figure out." God gives it to us when He determines it is necessary to be used by us. The will of God is a description of the inheritance we have received through faith in Jesus Christ. Live your life and God will produce His fruit in and through you. Don't complicate it.
I think you've misunderstood him. It is a spiritual gift that we have to use, yes. But not everyone knows what they have been gifted with. Some people have the gift of preaching but are bery shy. But as soon as they step into the ministry you will see how bold they become suddently. You have to figure out what you've been gifted with and then act on it. Some learn it sooner, some later, but if you really stay close to God you will see it
Agree. But the reason they don't know is b/c their are new believers...or believers that haven't matured much, and do not read their Bible very much. @@zuri236
The grace gifts are appropriated by the Lord Jesus, Himself, not by "the laying on of the hands by the presbytery", 1 Tim 4:14. Paul (the apostle) got knocked off his horse by the glory and voice of the Lord Jesus- and thus the Lod Jesus began Paul's salvation ans sending all at once. Grace takes many forms, but is always intercession from God's Throne of Grace. The presbytery in Antioch layed hands on him and Barnabus after he and Barnabus had already been sent. Acts 13:2-4; & 9:15 & 16. When seeking to practice your gift, beware of the paid preachers. You will seem to them to be in competition for their "filthy lucre", 1 Pet 5:1-4. "Be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."- James 1:22. Please consider GraceStudy.weebly.com . On the flip side of this dichotomy, "I commend you to God, and to the Word of his grace."- Acts 20:32&33.
I’ve been affirmed in a teaching gift for the congregation and now teach a ladies group, but when it comes to vocation/evangelistic- when he said what keeps you up at night- oh man! It’s got to be writing Christian evangelical fiction. In 15 years that desire has not left
There's a lot more to "ascertaining your spiritual gift" than just discerning what it is you want to do in the body of Christ - a lot more. This video only touches the surface of that question and, frankly, doesn't get to the heart of the matter. Digging more into the Word, especially in 1st Corinthians, and all it has to say about the subject, will go much farther in answering the question.
Yes, 1st Corinthians 12-14 actually starts by saying, concerning spiritual gifts…You simply must use these scriptures in your answer. Paul Washer believes that Spiritual gifts have ceased. I personally was healed from a serious, unknown disease and believe that 1 CO 12-14 is for today
@@theresaread72 I don't think Paul Washer believes in that, he has a sermon that proves it. This is the name of the sermon; The power of the Holy Spirit. I hope you can wash it, it's a powerful message.😊
Paul never asked any body what to do, but he was leaded by the Holy Spirit. And, he just preached the cross. Few years later he went to the rest. The Bible said!!
Always seek to respond as God would. With virtue. With faith and prayer. Add knowledge to your faith, through studying the Word and all beneficial information, so that you may have the possibility for eternal life. Draw closer to Jesus Christ daily. Pray without ceasing, so that your mind may be set on what is true and good...rather than the opposite.
What’s helped me is this: just start taking on serving opportunities. In areas you don’t necessarily know if you’re gifted in, as well as things you know you’d like to do. You will often get affirmation from others and see that you love serving in a certain way, and then you can see that you are meeting a need.
Simply find a need and try to meet the need. Talk to the pastor and ask if there are any people in the church that need help, even if it’s a one time event type of ministry.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the Spiritual gift. Whatever the Spirit of God testifies, it testifies faithfully of the Word of God. We have I fear, idolized the whole idea of Spiritual Gifts. We deem a Pastor more than the one who picks up the broom. We deem the evangelists higher than the one who ministers to the sick....and so on. We're not the Avengers. We truly need to stop putting stumbling blocks in front of believers. Some are in serious doubt as to whether they're saved all because of the perception of one gift being better than the other. And it's why we've seen the rise of the hirelings working for wages in these mega churches, because it's a doctrine well taken advantage of by them to profit. Trust in our Lord and that the Spirit of God that testifies of Him will do the work through us when required. For those struggling with this topic, please just keep in His Word and be ever in earnest prayer. The more you learn about the character of God and what He saved you from, you will be compelled by His love to not only learn more about Him....but to do what is pleasing in His sight.
VERY well stated! And I agree. And sadly true. Sometimes, it's the guy with the broom or the woman who makes that amazing desert for the church social who has the most wisdom and the most practical knowledge of the Word of God. But b/c someone else went to Bible college or seminary, no one ever seeks advice or help or prayer from the broom guy or the baker. When the broom guy offers some great insights at the Bible study, no one really pays much attention b/c the bible study leader is the one who has all the knowledge. Paul writes and tells believers not to be like that b/c you're just acting like regular men (of the world) and not as spiritual.
@@kristenspencer9751 absolutely! Paul puts it as being still carnal when we get caught up with who we're following, who's our Pastor, who got this and that gift, who's got the most crowns going into heaven etc. The one who knows us better than ourselves is our creator, our Father in heaven. And the Word of God promised to send the Holy Ghost. So we must trust that the Head of His church will dispense according to His Will, what He needs us to do. The focus on spiritual gifts can become idolatry, is when not only we spend time comparing and using it as an excuse to gain a following....but also when we use it to proclaim our works as a point of boasting. The ones in the Bible who forwarded to Jesus their grand achievements....even going as far as casting out devil's....thinking that they were going to get a pat on the head, only to have Jesus turn around and tell them to depart for He never knew them. That's one part of the Bible I fear the most....to have Christ just turn around and tell you to depart. As you rightly highlight, Paul does warn against such behaviour simply because it's how those who have not been born again, regenerated and sanctified by the Holy Ghost, conduct themselves....as we did before we got saved. I think this borderlines into "what can I do for God?"....by that I mean, trusting in the works before the saving and justification by faith. The cart before the horse so to speak. I've seen people covet other people's gifts and have seen church splits because of such mentalities. It's sickening. Paul exhorts us to be humble and esteem each other better than ourselves.
At minute 11:00 he addresses something crucial. We believers are to be counsels by GOD Himself in ALL areas of our life. Psalm 32 and Isaiah 30 address this very plainly. We are inundated with messages about life. Voices other than GODS Word are constantly telling us what to do and think. We must shut those voices out. Cut them off and go to GOD Himself through His Word and prayer. He will guide us in all areas. But are we willing to seek His counsel and wait on Him?
Agreed, there's so much lack of that, such was my struggle before that's why the burden of life plus all of everything thrown at us from the flesh to demons and spirits warring against us. Many things open up in prayer if you just push much more ahead if truly you want to know who God is, instead of utilitarian religion.
I think my gift is encouragement, exhortation, and counseling. But, I'm very timid with evangelism and I don't like that. I'm scared of being someone who doesn't ever share the gospel and hide behind my gift and say "I just don't have the gift for evangelism.". I also need to know how to evangelize so that I can better encourage evangelism and counsel believers on it.
Hi is not, I have my concerns about it, but I saw a sermon of him that clarify it. This is the sermon if you want to see it, is a blessing: The power of the Holy Spirit Paul Washer.😊
I aspire and have some experience as an Assistant Medical Chaplain... However, it is restricted to those who have the financial freedom to obtain an MA Degree in Divinities. I have the burden, the passion, the time... But not the money to obtain the degree.😣
Just make sure you don't seek all the gifts though, because some of them have arbitrarily been done away with, don't you know. Don't seek gifts of healings, or tongues, or interpretation, or word of knowledge or word of wisdom. And especially don't seek prophecy, because this is what Paul wrote about all those things: 1Co 14:1: ¹ Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. So yeah...
Is what Washer said the way they did it in the early church in Acts? Can see any evidence of it that way at all. One of the first comments he made, came back down on himself
In the beginning God created Heaven and Earth. He created humans too to have a relationship with Him. That's our purpose as humans that have a relationship with God. Sin, however, messed that up because it made us imperfect and imperfect creatures cannot have a relationship with a perfect and holy God. That's why we so oftentimes feel empty, unsatisfied and unaccomplished because we're not in relationship with the God we were created to be in a relationship with. But that's where Jesus comes in. Jesus is God's son and He came down to earth in human form to live the same life we do yet unlike us He never sinned. Jesus is perfect. Yet despite the fact He is perfect He died on the cross for our sins and sacrifice Himself for us. The punishment for our sins is death but because Jesus took that punishment for us if we put our faith in Him and receive Him as Lord and savior we can be reconciled to God and be restored to that relationship we were created to have. And we can be sure that Jesus is the Son of God because on the 3rd day God raised Him from the dead and in that He defeated death and the grave, proving that He can do the same for us if we put our faith in trust in Him. That's how you get to Heaven. That's how you become full in your heart. That's how you become reconciled to the God who created you.
I definitely agree, I don’t want to be in the spotlight, and I get nervous speaking in a group, to such an extent that’s it’s impossible for me to think clearly. So I know I’m not a leader in that sense.

I'm suppose to have been born an extrovert hostess/administrator/leader type person. And because I was born the way I am, I am just wrong.
Good conversation. Gifts are given by God through the Holy Spirit and are not always alike. “There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.” (I Corinthians 12:4-6, 11 NKJV) The best counseling you can give to people is helping them to find their answers in the Word of God in order to teach to depend from God and His Word and not from you.
Paul washer said " they pick up a broom and start sweeping" what you guys think he was referring to ? I wanna think he was referring to the gift of : distinguishing between spirits, but i could be wrong
I could be thinking bout it too much lol I sweep every day at work so its hard to see this clearly as a spiritual gift maybe so tho I rewatched the video and it seems more likely he's being literal more so not with sweeping but heart posture and context or heart motive
@@HeIS-Isaiah45 Different members of the body have different functions. Some functions may seem more glorious than others, but glorious or not, all parts are necessary for the whole to function optimally.

What about the spiritual gift of knowing that Jesus is the Savior of the world? As western churches been teaching the opposite since around the 6th century...
1st Corinthians 12. Now concerning spiritual gifts brethren I would not have you ignorant. (They are as follows according to the word of God) word of knowledge, word of wisdom, faith, prophecy, divers kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues, gifts of healing , the working of miracles, and the discerning of spirits .
I always find Paul is kind of negative for a minister. I know the spiritual walk with God isn't always sunshine and rainbows, and without Jesus we'd all end up in hell, but really he always has a negative connotation with his word. Although in this video he was a tad more careful...
Some people are in congregations that are fearful of their gift, offended by their gift or just plain don't understand. I was disappointed b/c I wanted to be a blessing and I thought the young fellows who are elders would be glad that someone had a strong command of scripture and that they would value that. But they don't. They kind of just tolerate me.
Maybe God doesn’t want you doing that. He doesn’t make mistakes. The phrase strong command over scripture is kinda concerning. Scripture is the word of God. There is only one meaning to it. Do you mean that your interpretation trumps everyone else’s? Or that you spend a lot of hours in the word daily and study it? The connotations of this comment are negative toward your brothers in favor of yourself. I would make sure you’re being careful here. It’s best not to assume the worst in people.
Kirsten from the name i am assuming you are a women, so let me say God will not gift you to sin as in go against His laws and statutes if you are gifted with teaching it will be for WOMEN or children NOT men. I suggest you search the scriptures more as God is very clear on gender roles and pray for more guidance on this issue God bless 🙏✝️
Yep. Same here. Just take the beautiful gift(s) God has entrusted you with, and bless others with/through them. Don't let anyone hinder your service to God. Move forward, trusting that He will use HIS gifts to bless those who need them -- Christ went about doing good to everyone. He met people where they were at -- especially outside the synagogue "religious system".
If you have the holy spirit, you have all of the gifts. The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, if you are born again. If not, go drive the church bus or mow the lawn, that's your gift.
I dont think I have one. Its fine. Ive gone 32 years with no talent in anything as well as being unwanted by any girl and I'll probably go the rest of my life the same way. I'm not surprised honestly. It is what it is.
Hmmmm I beseech you brethren by the Mercies of God that you present yourselves a living sacrifice Holy & acceptable before God which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. I believe Mr Washer made a mistake by not speaking the first part of that TXT........ But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Question then becomes have you been filled with The Holy Ghost doesnt it tho...........I do believe ppl have it ALL backwards & everything one has need of is at the feet of Jesus & not man .
I don't think what Paul talks about contradicts that at all. Also, every person that has been born again is filled with the Holy Spirit, otherwise it's impossible to even know Christ.
@@marieyahahavah899 Thats the mistake ppl make. There is a difference between Salvation & the indwelling of The Holy Ghost. The day of Pentecost explains the issue Thats Acts. For the first part is critical to walking in the Will of God....Thank You for your response
@@illusionary5951 Salvation occurs instantaneously as the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The evidence a person has received the Holy Spirit into his life is found in the fruits of the Spirit that are then evident in that person’s life in ever-increasing abundance as he or she seeks them with faith.
Thanks for this Interview, it is an amazing wake up call.
Amen! So much wisdom.
so so blessed by this! so thankful for Mr Washer 🙏💗
Absolute truth Paul thanks.
Some learn it sooner, some later, but if you really stay close to God you will see it
Well said🙏
Agree. But the reason they don't know is b/c their are new believers...or believers that haven't matured much, and do not read their Bible very much. @@zuri236
I couldn't agree with you more!
This was eye opening, thank you
That was great and helpful!

So true brother Paul
Appreciate you guys! ❤

@@mr.f6912so true! That’s how I landed in being an assistant and teacher in childrens ministry.
Simply find a need and try to meet the need. Talk to the pastor and ask if there are any people in the church that need help, even if it’s a one time event type of ministry.
Love the comments... absolutely nailed it... Keep reading the word... allowing Him to touch you

Also, Proverbs 1:25-31
Agreed, there's so much lack of that, such was my struggle before that's why the burden of life plus all of everything thrown at us from the flesh to demons and spirits warring against us. Many things open up in prayer if you just push much more ahead if truly you want to know who God is, instead of utilitarian religion.
AMEN
I've tried to take those "Spiritual gift assessments" more than once and had to stop because they never seemed scriptural to me.
I wonder if that missionary in Peru was Peter Hocking who recently passed to glory.
Asserting the spirit.... by getting OUT of its way it will assert itself when you do that.
"It"??? Are you really referring to God, the Holy Spirit, as an "It"?? 🤔
Q: Are the churches in Revelation one church with one gospel addressed by locality culture or several church denominations with different doctrines?

Just make sure you don't seek all the gifts though, because some of them have arbitrarily been done away with, don't you know. Don't seek gifts of healings, or tongues, or interpretation, or word of knowledge or word of wisdom. And especially don't seek prophecy, because this is what Paul wrote about all those things:

Is what Washer said the way they did it in the early church in Acts? Can see any evidence of it that way at all. One of the first comments he made, came back down on himself
❤
“Who doesn’t like leading people?“ Answer: me. Our sinful nature comes out in different ways, but I’m not a leader.

That’s what Moses thought. 😂
I definitely agree, I don’t want to be in the spotlight, and I get nervous speaking in a group, to such an extent that’s it’s impossible for me to think clearly. So I know I’m not a leader in that sense.
Isn't timidity a sin? I'm as timid as they come, and the churches I've tried to attend have no use for me

Good conversation. Gifts are given by God through the Holy Spirit and are not always alike.
“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.” (I Corinthians 12:4-6, 11 NKJV)
The best counseling you can give to people is helping them to find their answers in the Word of God in order to teach to depend from God and His Word and not from you.
Paul washer said " they pick up a broom and start sweeping" what you guys think he was referring to ? I wanna think he was referring to the gift of : distinguishing between spirits, but i could be wrong
1 Cor 12:28 lists, "help" as one of the gifts.
Service or helping. I think he meant it literally grabbing a broom.
I concure with the three above me.
I could be thinking bout it too much lol I sweep every day at work so its hard to see this clearly as a spiritual gift maybe so tho I rewatched the video and it seems more likely he's being literal more so not with sweeping but heart posture and context or heart motive

What about the spiritual gift of knowing that Jesus is the Savior of the world? As western churches been teaching the opposite since around the 6th century...
The spiritual gifts are the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit to receive these gifts
Every real Christian is baptized in the Holy Spirit.
1st Corinthians 12. Now concerning spiritual gifts brethren I would not have you ignorant. I always find Paul is kind of negative for a minister. I know the spiritual walk with God isn't always sunshine and rainbows, and without Jesus we'd all end up in hell, but really he always has a negative connotation with his word. Although in this video he was a tad more careful...
True it is more then that it is almost as if his mindset is stuck in the death and has never been buried nor resurrected
Hi is not. The power of the Holy Spirit:Paul Washer sermon.
I suggest you search the scriptures more as God is very clear on gender roles and pray for more guidance on this issue

Yep.
Finding your spiritual gift: “What do you like to do that is a blessing to the Body?”
