The reason why he keeps calling the Doctor: 'Doctor Who' is because Peter grew up watching the show, and in the classic era, the Doctor was mostly referred to as 'Doctor Who'. Children would say things like 'I wish I could travel with Doctor Who' You can hardly blame Peter.
I love that he takes the time to learn basic phrases in other languages when he goes to other countries. It’s just precious and I love hearing him speak anything haha!
For someone who was leaning forward and listening so intently while taking notes, I was not expecting the translator to have such a clear English accent.
i love that when they first answer one half of the room laughs and when the translator is done the other half starts laughing inb4 they don't speak english
I still find it so amazing how so many countries, not even talking the same language, can enjoy this television series. It's great for both adults and children and always makes me smile when I see people dress up as their fav Doctor or character, doing what makes them happy, inspired by a something that makes them happy.
Don't get too hung up on Capaldi referring to The Doctor as "Doctor Who". The character actually was referred to as "Doctor Who" a few times in the show (e.g., the line "Doctor Who is required" is heard in the story "The War Machines") and Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee and Baker were credited as playing "Doctor Who" in press materials and the end credits of the classic series. It wasn't until the Peter Davison era that the lead character was referred to as "The Doctor" in the credits. Capaldi's old school enough not to get hung up on such nerdy nitpicking. I suggest you follow his lead.
I mean, surely he's doing it deliberately at this point. If anyone knows what he's talking about when it comes to this show, Peter Capaldi would be high up on the list. I find it kind of hilarious that he's made this decision, clearly out of sheer stubbornness.
Mikko Kivisto Really? How much less? I've always said that whereas the character is known as the Doctor, the role is known as Doctor Who. It's no accident that this has always been the billing in the end credits, except in the eras where the fans rule the asylum. I rather hope that Capaldi insists on changing the credit back again. He certainly seems intent on hammering home that usage. It's like he makes a special effort every time the opportunity arises.
OMG. Almost cried here. I didn't knew that i could love a tv show this much (I can't even love my boyfriend this much) Too bad that i can't afford a travel to Rio to see my Doctor. To see the TARDIS. To see the lovely Clara Oswin Oswald... But i'm really happy to think that a man so kind, so brave and so clever is really loved around the world. I kinda think the more people love Doctor Who the more the world turn a little more kind, brave and also clever. ♥
Jenna's nod to Peter's rockstar past with Craig Ferguson. Also wish the painting and gifts were included in this video, Jenna and Peter with the paper fans, cooling each other off. The avocado story will always make me laugh. Was an honor to get tickets to the event in Seoul despite waiting hours on end for them.
I want to know how they are going to explain, Peter Capaldi being in the Fires of Pompeii episode, being saved by a previous regeneration, and also being a villian in Torchwood.
“I was holding an avocado when I got the phone call like this *laughs and then when I got off the phone I was still holding the avocado. 🥑🥑 I can’t believe I finally found this video again after so long.
randell leefoon Could they possibly have a spin-off type thing? Where he acknowledges himself (when he was 10) and somehow he was in two places at once kind of scenario? Him being there with Donna, but also living in Pompeii back then. Dammit Doctor Who you always do this to my mind lol
Russell T Davies considers in canon that because the Doctor and Donna saved Caecilius and his family, his descendants (John Frobisher and his family) died earlier, because time caught up with them. Meaning, there is always consequences. So MAYBE. Because Matt's regeneration was already in existences (well almost) when John Frobisher died. it affected his next regeneration, which is Capaldi. :D This should be canon. We should get the word out.
it's so sad that the powers that be on the Dr Who franchise decided that all these tour dates were more important than making it to Comic Con San Diego 2014. They decided that the largest comic/Sci-fi convention in the world was not worthy.
Actually, the Doctor has called himself Doctor Who on a few occasions. There was an early episode involving a hotel where the Doctor signed the register as Doctor Who.
Peter Capaldi you ask a question about why people love this show , its because say good story's and make them show good , not because of the special F/X only , this show have a theatric way , is like you are in a magic theater. The other part is that we all like time travel and aliens story's, we all want to go to space some day.. So it has a universal talk not only British, this is my opinion.
What I don't like in Doctor who is that , I wish have more episodes with scientist and artists like the Van gogh episode or others like it!! So I want more episodes of historic scientist for example Newton or Antoine Lavoisier .. Nikola Tesla ....and more and artist like Salvador Dalí , that he have paints with Clocks and 5 dimensions.
When did Doctor Who entered South Korea market when in 2014 12th Dr and Clara entered Seoul at the time of Park Geun-hye regime? And recently entered the Chinese market since 13th Doctor launch despite censors rejects time machine themes; then have Tsuburaya Productions (creator of Ultraman) to co-produce Doctor Who episodes in half hour the cheap way and sponsored with merchandises and make the adventures more sensible than Chibnall’s 13th Doctor tenure.
It bugs me that there are no captions, in both language spoken in these. PLEASE ADD THEM. I am an English native speaker but as someone who is also trying to build up their Korean, it irritates me a bit. Also, what if a Korean native speaker were watching this?
I was implying he sounds like someone from, let's say, slavic nations. Without a specific accent still you can notice that he's not fluent. Maybe it's just this video
In my opinion the best Clara line so far is "I'll slap you so hard you'll regenerate"
The reason why he keeps calling the Doctor: 'Doctor Who'
is because Peter grew up watching the show, and in the classic era, the Doctor was mostly referred to as 'Doctor Who'. Children would say things like 'I wish I could travel with Doctor Who' You can hardly blame Peter.
"You can see my house from here." *points off in to the distance*
'It's that Blue Box."
I love that he takes the time to learn basic phrases in other languages when he goes to other countries. It’s just precious and I love hearing him speak anything haha!

inb4 they don't speak english
I cant get enough of Calpadi's voice, its just so soothing! I look forward to watching him :D
"I was holding an avacado when the phone went and I was still holding it after."
So random.
I love the double laughs
I still find it so amazing how so many countries, not even talking the same language, can enjoy this television series. Jenna looks stunning as always
Didn't know doctor who had such a big Korean fanbase!
Yeah, I've wondered about that. We haven't seen him really take on the role yet, and we're all huge Capaldi fans already. It's very strange.

Aderack Online
It's also a recognition that the media and UK public typically call the character "Doctor Who." I really could care less about it.
Mikko Kivisto Really? How much less?

And during Series 1, Christopher Eccleston was credited as Doctor Who before David made them change it to the Doctor again.
"This show mate, this show"

I loved the "Do as you are told." quote ...

Jenna is so cute!
Awww! Matt! I just want to cry!
Jenna is so cute and looks even more gwiyomi in her costumes.
That style is a good look!

I love Korean culture. They can find amusement in anything.
It depends I think on the context........ they worship the actors
i love every thing about the docter
“I was holding an avocado when I got the phone call like this *laughs and then when I got off the phone I was still holding the avocado. 🥑🥑
I can’t believe I finally found this video again after so long.
An avocado! Haha!
He Was on that Pompeii episode.

He was also in Torchwood: Children of Earth as John Frobisher.

The Korean fans seem to understand English very well.
I so wish they came to Canada
it's so sad that the powers that be on the Dr Who franchise decided that all these tour dates were more important than making it to Comic Con San Diego 2014. They decided that the largest comic/Sci-fi convention in the world was not worthy.
I LOVE THE DOCTOR

The 12th Doctor is his officially title

Seoul is such a wonderful city. Where did they shoot this?

I'm sure that most fans already understood them before the translator XP

Punctured Spleenery spleen
why he says im the doctor who
Correct: im the doctor
My god Peter was so cuteeeeee when he speaks Korean xDDDDDDDD
it almost sounds like the interpreter has a british accent
I know this is two years old but she does speak English pretty clearly so it wouldn’t surprise me if she lived in the UK for a while.
He speaks Korean?! Can he get any more perfect?
(I'm British, btw... Just nobody speaks Korean over here.)
5:07 magnıfıcent sdsadss
Why make private the whole interview?
I'm Korean....but....why can't I....I hate my mother(of course not really but for not letting me go to this...)
It bugs me that there are no captions, in both language spoken in these.
PLEASE ADD THEM.
I am an English native speaker but as someone who is also trying to build up their Korean, it irritates me a bit. Also, what if a Korean native speaker were watching this?
wow
It bothers me a lot that he calls himself DOCTOR WHO. He's the Doctor. Just the Doctor.
The South Koreans couldn't stop laughing
그라라님, 완벽해요
클라라 예요!!Clara
I don't think he will do much as he is told. :)
안녕하세요
34 comment and plz do norway :(
Jenna, will you marry me?
솔직히 나는 옆에 통역가가 없는 게 더 편한데
통역가 있어서 좀 더 아쉬웠던 듯
why are peaple still calling him doctor who his name is the doctor
Capaldi calls him Doctor Who
Capaldi's probably old enough to remember when he was still credited as Doctor Who for the first few Doctors.
true true
Maybe that's what they call him in the Korean translations.
Older fans like Capaldi call hm Doctor Who because he was actually credited as Doctor Who for a long time.
으악~~~~~~
좀더 빨리 알았으면 ㅠㅠ
Why does Capaldi sound like he's not from an english-speaking area?
Because he's Scottish.
That's still an english-speaking area.
Arthur Doyle But the accent is a little bit diffrent from England
I was implying he sounds like someone from, let's say, slavic nations. Without a specific accent still you can notice that he's not fluent. Maybe it's just this video
Arthur Doyle He and Jenna both seem to be speaking slower, with a view to easing the South Korean audience's comprehension, I think.
Second!
