I wish that they could have included Planet Of Evil. Because that was the first Doctor Who story I saw when I was a kid and it instantly made me into a Whovian.
Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor. He opened the door for me, giving me a taste of what was to come. But it was Tom Baker who brought me inside, sat me down on the sofa, let me kick my shoes off and take in all of the craziness that was part and parcel of his era.
Influenced so much for the series going forward. Having Tom Baker return as the Curator was a lovely touch in the anniversary episode. Edit: it was great to see Elizabeth Sladen again, one of my favourite companies.
In 2006, I watched Genesis of the Daleks for the first time on DVD, a few days after my 10th birthday. And I immediately fell in love with Tom Baker's portrayal of the Fourth Doctor. Here's to 50 years!
Tom Baker was amazing as The Doctor! I had seen him in several movies before they started to broadcast Doctor Who in the USA in the 80s. And already knew he was one to watch from the movies. But when Doctor Who began to air here, that is how I became a lifelong fan! His talent, his manor of ortary, his humor, his wit and skill at improvisation, even his body language. Very very impressive! The Fourth Doctor is LEGEND! Forever more. :)
My favourite Doctor and so many memories of a great era in the show. Hard to believe it's been 50 years since he started the role and I was such a young pup.....
Doctor Who would air at a strange time on Canadian Television back then - back when there were only a few stations - that also didn't broadcast 24-hrs/day. I remember waking up at 5:10am just to hear that intro and chew cereal while that scarf-trippin Hippy & Companion would stumble through the Galaxy... Respect
Tom Baker played the Doctor when I discovered Doctor Who. He’s my beloved Doctor. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant reignited my enthusiasm for Doctor Who. Happy to be back in the ‘Whoniverse’. ❤️❤️
'You never forget your first Doctor'... Tom Baker was my introduction into the Whoniverse, back in the '80s; and I still consider him a benchmark against whom all other Doctors are measured. He had a way of delivering a throwaway line that I find masterful (no pun intended)...
Tom Baker was MY Doctor. As an American, his was the first time I’d been made aware of the show, and his was the one who made the biggest impression on me. Ever since Robot, I was HOOKED. to this day, however, Face of Evil and the introduction of Leela was perhaps my favorite episode - perfect mix of humor, one liners (“Well, Hel-lo, Neeva! Hotline to God?!”) (“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering “) and a fascinating plot.
I love the scene when he becomes outraged and angry at the Pirate Captain. The Fourth Doctor truly shows how appalled he is towards the villainy of the Captain about the destruction of other planets. Great and serious acting from Tom Baker.
When Leela skips through the TARDIS doors at the end of 'Face of Evil', the Doctor sounds like me talking to my cat when she has got in somewhere i don't want her to be. it's so sweet!
Interesting bit of trivia: The Horror of Fang Rock 46:59 was based on the true incident of the three lighthouse keepers of Flannan Isle who mysteriously went missing in 1900; to this day no one really knows what happened to them. The Doctor quotes from Wilfred Gibson's 1912 poem Flannan Isle as they get into the TARDIS to leave.
My first Doctor and my favorite Doctor and the best Doctor! "I'm a Time Lord. You don't understand the implications, I'm not a human being, I walk in eternity." --PYRAMIDS OF MARS
Saw him in London in '98.. I was running for channel 5.. all I could think of was to duck behind a car and yell "Baker!".. I remember him whirling around.. wish I could have thought of something more clever..
For the Classic Who era, Tom Baker was THE Doctor as far as pop culture was concerned. Also he made several million non-British fane obsessed with jelly babies. Not that I’m complaining 😅
The Fourth Doctor is NOT 50 years old today! It was on 8 June. His era officially started on 8 June 1974! All Doctor's eras start from their first onscreen appearance obviously! Not their first story
Wasn't his anniversary on 8th of June, as then the last episode of *Planet of the Spiders* aired? (the first ever appearance of the character, I mean ... )
9:12 don't touch the wires together. The DALEKS were directly part of why we have several things; the plunger, the colour electric neon blue, our independence from the planet Xeron...the 1970 AMC Gremlin...okay not everything is perfect.
Me screaming DO IT everytime thinking maybe this time he would do it.. but he def had a point tho.. If i was there I wouldve shoved one of his hands onto the other. You can blame it on me now
Top 10 4th doctor stories 10 the stones of blood 9 shada 8 pyramids of Mars 7 the deadly assassin 6 city of death 5 the robots of death 4 the ark in space 3 the seeds of doom 2 terror of the zygons 1 Genesis of the daleks
What's with all the Tennant bashing? We all have our favourites and we can all be respectful of others favourites. Tom was a great actor to take on the role, as with his predecessors (without Hartnell there wouldn't be Doctor Who) and his successors. Every era is different. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, and occasionally you get the golden stuff. The new who era was always going to be different. No more tinfoil or bubble wrap (except for that one Jodie ep but we'll ignore that for now) no more wobbly sets or over the top acting. Change is always good when done right and tastes will always be unique to the individual. I'll say it, 10 is my favourite doctor for many reasons including deeply personal ones. But I take pleasure from those who came before and the iconic stories from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
Dear doctor who I have a idea for a new villain specifically in toy makers legion they are called BET and bind his entire existence like the toy maker but if loses a bet he changes his last name and his race with a exception right he is called angel bet since he lost to the toy maker and race is a weeping angel but he can go crono lock anytime he wants and he looks like he is 16-19 but short and I hope you read this
One and a half hour of the best doctor by the official DW youtube page? This is indeed Christmas!
I wish that they could have included Planet Of Evil. Because that was the first Doctor Who story I saw when I was a kid and it instantly made me into a Whovian.
The most iconic Doctor of them all! Happy 50th anniversary to the Fourth Doctor!
Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor. He opened the door for me, giving me a taste of what was to come. But it was Tom Baker who brought me inside, sat me down on the sofa, let me kick my shoes off and take in all of the craziness that was part and parcel of his era.
The Fourth Doctor is undoubtedly the most iconic Doctor there has, is, and ever will be. Everyone recognises that scarf.
It took ages to knit a copy.
Best Doctor of all time 🐐
This is THE Doctor!
The definite article you might say.
State Of Decay was very special for this compilation because of how it helped to end Tom's era in a most positive way.
@ one of my favourite stories. I saw itwhen first broadcast.
As far as these best moment compilations go, this has to be the absolute best. Whoever edited this video knows the 4th doctor era in and out.
Influenced so much for the series going forward. Having Tom Baker return as the Curator was a lovely touch in the anniversary episode.
Edit: it was great to see Elizabeth Sladen again, one of my favourite companies.

The legendary Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor, the Longest ever-running on screen of the show. Happy Anniversary!!
Happy anniversary/birthday to my first Doctor, Tom Baker!! 🎉💙💙
The best Doctor of the OG era
Tom Baker was amazing as The Doctor! I had seen him in several movies before they started to broadcast Doctor Who in the USA in the 80s. And already knew he was one to watch from the movies. Robot Part One went out 28 December 1974, which was a strange date to start a new season.
I watch it being broadcasted into Detroit in the 70s from Canada.
"Its the end, but the moment has been prepared for." For 50 years, actually. LOL our beloved 4th Dcotor. The definite article of Doctor Who
As he said ... Im THEE Doctor
This is how Doctor Who is done ...share the Jelly babies..
Galaxies ahead of certain incarnations of the Doctor. Sarah and Harry magnificent too!
I don’t care what people think about Tennant. For me this is the real deal.
Can you imagine tom baker with all of the modern effects there are? It would be a tour de force.
I still believe Tom Baker was the greatest Doctor! 😎
Tennant isn’t even the best Doctor of the vastly inferior rebooted new series.
He's boring and not attractive enough
@@WilliamLucas-hy8mxNice use of satire there
You see, all the others are "a" Doctor, but this is THE Doctor, the definite article unquestionably.
the GOAT
Tom Baker was the best doctor out of them all
Tom is the GOAT. He will always be what comes to mind when I remember how great the show USED to be.
Same here.
bait
Tom Baker played the Doctor when I discovered Doctor Who. He’s my beloved Doctor. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant reignited my enthusiasm for Doctor Who. Happy to be back in the ‘Whoniverse’. ❤️❤️
Happy 50th anniversary Tom, thanks for the fantastic adventures and memories for a lifetime!
During the summer, he became my first Doctor to watch in the Classic Era.
Tom Baker's infinite charm was on display from the moment the 3rd Doctor regenerated. Happy Anniversary to the Greatest Time Lord of them all!
I love that music (the one from City of Death that we hear at the beginning of this video).
Oh the running!! I miss the running!!!❤️❤️
Happy 50th for Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor. 💙
'You never forget your first Doctor'...

THIS IS THE DOCTOR I GREW UP WITH! Tom was so iconic. My second favorite was Eccleston
My absolute favorite Doctor
I love the scene when he becomes outraged and angry at the Pirate Captain. The Fourth Doctor truly shows how appalled he is towards the villainy of the Captain about the destruction of other planets. Great and serious acting from Tom Baker.
This man was part of my life, God bless you Mr Baker!!!!!🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
I've been here for all of it.
I can’t wait to finish my Tom Baker cosplay for next year!! Can’t forget the jelly babies
When Leela skips through the TARDIS doors at the end of 'Face of Evil', the Doctor sounds like me talking to my cat when she has got in somewhere i don't want her to be. it's so sweet!
LEGEND! 😮😱🤩😂❤❤🧣5️⃣0️⃣
City of Death theme is still music to my ears as much as Tom's iconic voice.
HAPPY 50TH, TOM YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC. NONE BETTER.
Anyone for a Jelly Baby while we watch the genuine article.

The 4th Doctor AND Sarah Jane? Cmon now, the BEST❤
If we all wore clothes like the crew in Robots of death, well, the world would be a better place😂😂😂
39:30 Leela!!!! Maybe my very favorite companion, though Ace and Sarah Jane often occupy that top spot as well.
Happy 50th, Fourth. Watching Robot now as I type.
My doctor ❤️❤️❤️

Brilliant. Back in the day he was my favourite Doctor, these days thanks to Big Finish, he’s a strong third just behind Colin Baker and Paul McGann.
