You know James, you may not be as famous as Justin Sandercoe or Marty Schwartz, but I honestly think you're the best guitar teacher on youtube. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
James, this is a great video. A great song I grew up listening too and thought it was mind blowing playing. Really pleased to see you break this one down. Thank you.
Brilliant! My playing is a bit iffy (I'm used to playing classical, so fingerpicking metal strings is bloomin' painful) but after spending a couple of hours with your tutorial I'm sounding sort of knopfler-ish. Your 2 page chord/lyrics/solo tab is pure genius. Wishing you health and happiness (and more subscribers).
@@Rocklicks72 I also like the handwritten tab bits -sort of more personal and homely ! One possible improvement (as I've a classical guitar background): how about notating which finger plays each note - if only to stop me cheating and trying to play everything with my thumb (it's easier -emulating a pick, I guess).
Nice one James! You are making me miss my guitar. I went to university without it. Can't wait to get back home and play it again! Is there any chance you could do a tutorial for "the self preservation society" (the Italian job). I've seen some covers and 'tutorials' online but they don't have tabs and just expect you to follow along. Don't worry if you cant. Just a suggestion for you! Thank you
James, thank you so much! You've helped me accomplish what no one else could. I've worked on this lesson with three other instructors on TH-cam, and was able to learn a good number of the fills, but there are so many of them that it was impossible for me to remember the majority of them, or their order in the song. Your method of printing the verses, with the appropriate lick after each line, was just the tool I needed. This had to be a lot of work for you, and I really appreciate it. I've subscribed and given you a thumbs up--wish I could give more. I'll check out your other work. Thanks Again. Do you live in Scotland?
Sweet song, @James!! (Hope you are ok...it's been a few days....we're all going thru 'Rundle channel withdrawl'!!) Stay safe and take care, @James Rundle!!
James, this is brilliant. Although I wanted forever to try this one, I never dared to. You now make it sound like it is actually feasible. Maybe I do have a « fighting chance » to get through it. I will give it a shot :)
Thank you James for a great teaching, and a great composition by Mark Knopfler with a lot of swing and two Very good solos.

That’s really nice of you to say 😊
@@Rocklicks72 I mean every word.
I'm subscribing ... thank you .Been working on this song for a while, you helped a lot.
Really comfortable lesson James, 'takes away all the pressure.
Thanks for making it relatively simple.
Harder to remember what goes in where than how to actually play it

Glad you liked the sheet. It always annoyed me it’s always written over 10 pages normally

Hi James! How are you? Thank you very much for the lesson . I love Dire straits
Always loved the intriguing quality of this song -
to go with the rather unusual title!

Hi, glad you like the channel😊 I’m from near Newcastle Upon Tyne
@@Rocklicks72 You have some cool looking bridges there. (among many other things, I'm sure)
James, you are the dude!!! Best wishes!!!!
Could you do a Beatles song if possible
I’ve done quite a few Beatles songs
Can you do a tutorial for ‘Oh, Yoko’ if possible. Thanks 😁
Great song to learn and well broken down
Lucky to see your lesson. Interesting. Thank you very much for sharing
Really cool
A brilliant lesson. However, I just cannot play without a pick so am finding some of the fills too tricky as a result.

Is that a new guitar you have
No the one I’ve had since 1991 😊
@@Rocklicks72 i want to get a new guitar maybe a fender telecaster
First intro It is good if you sing the whole song using guitar it is better
Don't you ever use a pick, Jim?
