Credit where it’s due, Re:coded did justice it’s physical commands. Some like Quick Blitz were already usable in BBS but the addition of fast attacks like the Dives and Chain Rave adding to Sora’s combos if done right. I have pulled a Chain Rave out mid-combo enough times for me to consider it the best physical command in the game
agreed, Re:Coded was the best in terms of physical commands, or even physical attacks in general, among the Command Deck games as it had actual unique combo attacks and the ability to chain in physical commands instead of just repeating the same 3 slashes the more (air) combo pluses you add and snapping you to the ground for certain commands
While it is interesting to see how much smoother the battle system flies by with this mod, it is still pretty disappointing that not a lot of commands have synergy with one another, which would promote more interesting and diverse playstyles. This is something I appreciate about ReCoded with how many commands and mechanics tend to synergize with one another, which seems to be a h.a.n.d staple considering how this also applies towards NEO TWEWY.
Just like what he said in the beginning. If you weren't paused after every action you do, this game would've been one of the fucking bees knees, and could've been a good competitor against KH2.

In terms of player buffs, we only really need super armour/invincibility on high end skills, improving normal attack damage and speed are welcome. where enemies need to be less counter playish with their movesets, vanitas, MF, eraqus armour are big offenders
2:48 I think being able to be on the same rules as the Bosses not only works to make the game feel fair, but it enhances moments where they play like YOU and pull out Cure. Especially considering the major bosses that literally using the same kinds of weapons as you, it bridges the ludo-narrative dissonance. All of which is exemplified with the Lingering Will V Terranort fight - in all but cape, you've become the Superboss of KH2FM, and now you REALLY get to feel like it.
If so then whoever animates the next games cutscene fights needs to take notes because for we've yet to see any lore accurate fights(Closest were Recoded and KH2 as far as im aware).
Animation cancels, mobility, camera angle change, this is a true keyblade master experience. The game certainly did push the psp to the max it could, but in the end it doesn't cut off very well just to be a port with how unpolished were the range of the commands, how some overlap, don't connect, and even some doesn't work properly like enemies teleporting or blocking an Ars Solum because it has openings and that you were sold out if the enemy hits you while finishing a command.
Now see this is what the Mysterious Figure fight should have been, a challenging encounter and not a Thunder Surging Breaking the Square button circus act.
I had loads of fun with Birth by Sleep, but I imagine that if the game played like this, I'd have had even more fun with it! Watching the chat, though, makes me realize that I'm very much in the minority. I never realized that games like Birth by Sleep or Dream Drop Distance were so hated, and it's still kind of a surprise to me to some extent. I loved them both to pieces, and still do.
Same, I kinda disliked the command deck system but grew to love it. I can only guess that kh2 raised the bar so much for combat the handheld titles had to live up to it.

How to make terra actually useful in a future game: Make him the only character in the game to permit full magic and command cancel. Seriously, all it would take is that, and all physical commands turn from the worst to the absolute _best_
This makes every Keyblade wielder duel look like a duel between Keyblade wielders, and not a deranged boss fight for either the player or the boss. The fact that you still have to play well helps legitimize this mod. It also really brings out the strengths of all three playable characters. I need to get these games on PC someday.
Why is the thumbnail so cool tho? Anyways, I'm happy modders were able to improve BBS's battle system like they did with the secondary option to remove the Drop Meter in DDD. Terra is a lot more flexible and less irritating to play then master like he was before this mod; the frustrating boss fight against Terranort(Terra's Scenario) became very enjoyable, while Ventus and Aqua gained similar combo execution akin to Sora in KH3 and her iteration in the same game. I'd kill to see the scrapped Jungle Book world be fully created custom-wise by fans(and regaining it's OG assets), like how we got Quadratum and Insomnia from FFXV in KH3 btw!

This is actually pretty good looking even if I don’t know exactly what was changed to a T. But I can definitely see there’s smoother movement even for Terra, and I can appreciate making commands flow into your combos like, as another comment pointed out, in Re:coded. I loved how there was little delay between a swing and a physical type command, making abilities like Chain Rave and Judgement Triad reliable alternatives to a combo finisher in mob fights or when you want to save your Max Overclock for a better opportunity to attack
Never forget the moment on the actual stream for better battle system when you were fighting mf with Terra and you got hit with doom and lasers at the same time and got instakilled
Man this would be a godsend in the psp version, the pause after you do after using a command is a pain in mid to late game bosses because the gameplay turns into dodge roll/mine square spam and wait simulator (im looking at you eraqus)
I never really understood why the game wasn't like this, especially for Aqua who was supposed to be a Keyblade Master. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing as her but if she's supposed to be the best of the best as they say then how come she doesn't operate like a boss character? I feel like combining the commands AND the combos and not pausing after every single action is something they should already be doing to show why they're masters to begin with. They should be on-par with the bosses in abilities, not just in levels. I think that would make the game so much more fun.
I've been waiting for a mod like this to come out, and it just might be the best KH mod I've played. I'm having a blast going through BBS again, and I never thought that would happen again. If the same mod could be made for DDD then we'll be in the best timeline.

Absolutely. I dropped the game partway through my first playthrough with aqua. But with the mod I happily played through all 3 stories and also the final and secret episodes.
If you want to experience what BBS actually is, no. If you want to have more fun with it then yes. It's not a bad game without this mod, but it has a lot of flaws that start to become more obvious the further into the game you get.
I'd like to make a game inspired by BBS' battle system and this certainly gives me lots of ideas, nice! Though being a one-man team it'd probably have to be 2D like GBA Chain of Memories but still, I'd love to try that someday!

Mixing commands into your combos ironically makes it feel kinda like re:coded's approach to commands

Even of you didn’t play this game you should be able to tell this is a mod because Terra’s balance isn’t jinxed by the game he’s in

Would this mod be good for a first playthrough? I feel like I should probably play it vanilla first but this does look pretty fun.
Absolutely. I dropped the game partway through my first playthrough with aqua. But with the mod I happily played through all 3 stories and also the final and secret episodes.
If you want to experience what BBS actually is, no. If you want to have more fun with it then yes. It's not a bad game without this mod, but it has a lot of flaws that start to become more obvious the further into the game you get.
I'd like to make a game inspired by BBS' battle system and this certainly gives me lots of ideas, nice!
Though being a one-man team it'd probably have to be 2D like GBA Chain of Memories but still, I'd love to try that someday!
ive always thought that a game with BBS style commands and melding would be great if you could slot the commands into your regular combos like in God Hand
