Yeah, normally it takes like 3 seconds if I remember correctly on PS3 to load the D-Link... not seven! Also I don't remember the game suddenly interrupting gameplay with a loading animation before activating commands like seen at 2:00. Even on PS3 I don't remember that at all. If it did that, I bet that Biskit video of things that needed to be fixed in an update/the PS4 port would have had a clip of that loading time, in addition to the main complaint for Kingdom Hearts II Drive Forms where the gameplay is most affected by the loading time.

well the theory is because of music licensing they couldn't download the game to the PS3 why people think this is because you can't buy this game digitally on PS3
It's mainly due to the architecture of the PS3 being so specific that games not made with that architecture in mind just don't run as well as they should. Since these games were on PS2 and PSP, they would basically needed to have remade them for them to run better on PS3. So glad the PS4 versions work so much better

The I/O bottleneck in this version was insane, though I don't remember my load times being this bad, maybe because my PS3 was jailbroken and I was playing from usb instead of disk
A lot of the load times were because the game couldn't be installed on PS3, that's why PS4 load times are basically inexistent. The games couldn't even be patched for the same reason and that's also why the full collection had a day 1 patch when it came out. Even the PSP version has faster load times since it had an optional data install.
@marcosv.r5261 You could install PS3 games to the internal hard drive. MGS4 did that back in 2008. For whatever reason, Square Enix thought the PS3's slow blu-ray drive would be fast enough.

I distinctly remember 2FM on this collection having issues loading drives and how it wouldn't buffer the enemies properly while loading so people would pause the game and wait for the disc to stop spinning so they wouldn't get rushed while changing
Can confirm. I think the only noticeable loads on PSP were for area or cutscene transitions (and possibly entering Mirage Arena?), and they were totally inoffensive.
Having played the entirety of the PS3 version, I can say for sure it wasn’t nearly as bad for me. Though I did notice the D-Link animation for normal commands.

I think there is something wrong with your PS3. Might be overheating or something because I recently played this and it wasn’t THIS bad and my PS3 has a really old Disk Drive and it ran realtively good at a consistent 30 fps with the occasional 25fps dips and d-links didn’t took this long.. Still this was my least favorite Kingdom Hearts and I played them all one after the other for the first time.

Yeah I've sadly only ever played the ps3 port of BBS and i've never had it need to load before i used a command, and while d links still took way longer then they should it was still a small bit faster then this. Also have had no where near that bad lag from those large group unversed.
Yea 3D is bad too but I'd pick that over BBS because whatever you unlock as Sora, Riku gets and vice versa making the grind less annoying whereas in BBS you have to unlock everything as all three making the grind a chore. The secret bosses were also horribly designed making it the only KH game I didn't bother with for post game content. Lastly, and this is subjective on my part I just found the story in and characters in 3D more interesting than anything BBS had to offer. They are both one and done games though for sure. For some reason the super slim models doesn't the performace issues (maybe because i'm using the digital version but idk on disks, plus my super slim ps3 is jalbroken as well)
I've played UNDUB patch on super slim and haven't really noticed any loads mid-battle, not even long Link animations. Though frame drops and loading times do suck ass.

I only have this port of bbs to play on my ps3 and during that fight in the secret episode against the heartless my ps3 crashed when aqua tried to sylechange, I had to turn off my ps3 and wait him analyze if there was something corrupted on his storage
It's funny cause if you emulate this terrible port on RPCS3 it becomes incredibly good with near instantaneous load times, resolution scaling able to surpass 4k, and 60fps with a patch. Japanese undub too if that's your thing.
Considering they released this version just a year after KH1.5.... its no wonder the game runs poorly. And then they took their time making the 1.5+2.5 release for PS4 :P

Between this and the PSP version, I'm starting to be glad I didn't get into Kingdom Hearts until after the PS4 version existed.
All jokes aside can we agree vantias was probably the second best villain made next to old xehanort (bbs only). I just love how hes just an Genuine asshole so much Potential too bad kh 3 made him kinda bad
I just think the ps3 version of 1.5 and 2.5 were pretty bad
Kh ddd runs even worse on og 3ds,it literally drops to 10 frames sometimes on the young xehanort fight
i played bbs on the ps3 and i regret to inform you that this is a you issue. did you feed your ps3 sleep medicine from the 1950's???
i think i only had the d link load issues and the long loading issues for different areas but i never had the many other problems that happened in this video back in the day of playing these ports of the games on ps3
i have a ps3 slim and can confirm the fps issues are not your ps3's fault, i had them on all of my playthrough of bbs, it was atrociaous, in the psp it was so much better
