Thanks for sharing these steps and evidence that it can work. It does not work for me. I did change it to proton 704 and went into desktop to try to make sure that echo cancellation sink was at 100, which it looked like it already was there. Then when I ran it, Halo, the anti cheat disabled version, it just spins forever. When I try to run it in the desktop mode, the steam client sort of launches it and then never goes anywhere. It says that it's launching the executable and then nothing happens. The steam client says you know Play, cancel, or stop button after you hit play .. and then for this halo, it just goes back to play again.
Not sure what to suggest Nick, the Steam Deck is a great piece of tech but is not without its bugs and oddities. Once you are in game its great but getting there can be tricky at times. I had a nightmare with Red Dead 2 using the Rock Star launcher. In the end I just bought the game again on Steam. Works fine now. In your case though I'm not sure what to recommend. Are you running from the internal drive or a Micro SD? might be worth trying internal storage if you are using a card. Have you also tried rebuilding the install files just to make sure everything is OK? I would also try the old classic of just restarting your Deck and trying again. If anyone else can help, please do so.

@@techtipsuk I used experimental and it boots up and works fine for the most part, but it does freeze at times, this may be because its not fully supported.

Which I thought that’s just when you load the game up between the two options you select but I still get that message
This is why it's listed as not working, because of the anti cheat being windows only. Microsoft made the decision on that one. Until Microsoft allows the anti cheat to be turned on (if its using easy anticheat its already linux compatible) on non windows devices (unlikely) valve is going to keep this one as marked unplayable.

Halo CE seems to stutter pretty bad, like small jitters everytime I moved the camera to view a new tunnel vision. Anyone else experiencing this?
No, mine has been very solid. You get the odd dropped frame but nothing major at all. Are you using Proton 7.0.4 ?

I can't log in via the keyboard, tried many times. Seems to be an issue with some people. Any idea?
Have you tried plugging in a keyboard via USB? You'll need a USB A to USB C adaptor though.
@@techtipsuk i managed to get to the login bar by holding the steam button and touch the mousepad. The microsoft login is on a different screen layer.
