I've seen some people say that the new Mario Kart footage pretty much just looks like Mario Kart 8. I can understand that when just glancing at it once and not looking at the details, but it's good to see someone with an actual eye for game development and graphics explain why it actually looks better.
Honestly I kinda thought the same but when he showed footage of mk8 I instantly noticed the difference, specially in lighting, as he said, it looks more "realistic" even if it's heavily stylized
I originally couldn't tell if it was MK8 the first time I watched the trailer. After taking a close look then watching MK8 footage, I understand a vast difference.
@ I could tell it was a new Mario Kart because that level is not in Mario Kart 8, but even I couldn't immediately tell the difference in graphical quality.
Not wanting to break NDA means you allegedly have an NDA, which implies you allegedly are currently making a game for the Switch 2. So that means your insight on the Switch 2 hardware improvement is the most reliable. Allegedly.
If you have a Nintendo NDA even for working with the Switch One. It means he has to be careful with talking about ALL Nintendo products in production as well. From the devs I know, no one has a Switch 2 dev kit yet.
This isn’t the intended takeaway, but hearing about all the technical issues on the original Switch gives me so much respect for the developers who worked on its games. So far behind other modern systems, so much necessary corner-cutting, and just SO MANY fantastic games!
Must thank Capcom for asking them for 4gb RAM for their new portable Monster Hunter title (MHRise), Nintendo wanted to make it just *2GB RAM* the 4GB is the essential lift that so many modern games can be ported over to nintendo switch
You know Microsoft is kicking themselves for giving the Series S 10 gb of VRAM (technically only 8 because they pulled an NVIDIA and made the last 2 gb extremely slow). Nintendo learned from their mistakes, 12 gb is going to be a huge help even if it is LPDDR5X and not GDDR6.
Never forget Nintendo released that god awful Hyrule Warriors game that still can't hit a stable 30FPS. Now if the Switch 2 can run that Switch 1 game at a locked 30FPS? Well I won't really be impressed, but I will laugh a lot less hard at everyone who's excited to overspend in Nintendo's ecosystem.
@@JetSopp you can bet they (and other mainstream outlets) will ride on the shoulders of people like this developer / youtuber and use the info that you find in videos like this and places like Digital Foundry to make content for their owns sites and probably not even credit them, because they are desperately trying to escape from their own irrelevance
To think Mario Kart 8 was developed with just 1 GB of RAM being allocated to the game on Wii U is insane to me. Now we'll probably have 10x that! That's a huge improvement!
@@Oceanandskylinevidss MK8 on WiiU ran at 59 fps only when CPU racers were present, and it's clear that this was simply a bug, and not due to any performance bottlenecks. More specifically, whenever there were CPU racers, the game would always duplicate the 64th frame. If you played online, the game was locked at 60 fps.
Your walk-through has confirmed that my eyes were not lying to me. I'm not a game developer, just an illustrator. As an illustrator, I noticed what seemed to be a lot more going on in both the shading of Mario's face and the volumetric lighting of the atmosphere in the distance. I think the Mario Kart footage is deceptively simple to the untrained eye. I was seeing comments that didn't catch the subtle yet big visual improvements on display in the footage. Almost had me wondering if my mind was exaggerating things.
It's great to hear from you. You sound like you have an eye for those kinds of visual details. We did not get to see that much so it was easy for people to miss details. I hope Nintendo shows us more soon.
@@Artimidorusthe scene shown in the teaser is probably the end part after finishing the race like the preview mode and Nintendo is known to use gameplay footage than pre cgi movie played
Im sure there will be some other new item that counters them. Plus you shouldn’t be far enough ahead that you cant just move back to second place and get the blue shell on someone else.
Bout to be a whole new generation who are gonna grow up with PTSD from childhood scares from super high detailed blue shells flying at them. They shall know fear, they shall live fear.
Until the new Switch came along, they certainly hadn't had much incentive to release a new Mario Kart game. When 8DX is still their all-time best seller, why make competition for themselves?
Because a lot of adults bought the switch for reasons. And they have because of their success made mad competition for themselves. So if they don’t step it up here. Why would we stay. I bought the switch brand new with two games and a card. It came to 500.00. That was basically a console then. For the quality and the cost of OLD GAMES AT FULL PRICE! “Lawsuitdo” better blow me away. Cause there are sharks in the water now. Lawsuitdo can no longer remain a tuna
@@DontKnowDontCare6.9 what are you talking about? Zelda was the launch game with Switch 1, and not only achieved massive sales (and help selling the console), but also was proclamed (hands down) game of the year. If you think a Mario Kart game could achieve the same result, it's kinda delusional.
It's the kind of animation they've tested out in mario bros wonder. I'm glad they're taking mario into this expressive and bouncy style! I'm really excited for the games coming out on it too. Fighting games, rpgs, platformers. I can't wait to get it myself.
Don't be too worried about it! It's hard to understand these kinds of technical aspects without seeing by side comparisons. We will find out very soon when Nintendo shows us more. Thanks for enjoying the video!
You should have gotten laughed at because thats not actual gameplay, how could you control your character with that camera angle? So its a cutscene and high quality cutscenes have been made for decades, its much harder to do for actual gameplay. This is clearly the Mario 9 load screen
@@chiquita683Rendered in-game is the important part, not whether inputs are being read live. There’s a reason why match/race replays aren’t pre-rendered uncompressed video files.
It is funny to see how many people didnt notice that this was a new Mario Kart. But at the same time, it speaks to Nintendos' quality and art style. For the casual to take a glance and say, "yeah thats the Mario Kart I love" is good for brand recognition (maybe not for a new sale but i assume this will be addressed in marketing later) But also good that someone eith an eye for detail can spot the improvements.
Easily best and most easy to absord technical breakdown of the Switch 2 power I've seen so far. And you did a great job with such minimal footage too. Thank you!
What told me that this was next-gen almost instantly was the textures on the ground. Even through Nintendo's blurry-ish video, I could tell those ground textures were MUCH higher quality than those on Switch. I love admiring little details like that in video games. 😁
I feel a ton of people forgot about the feeling as we went from the PS3 to PS4. It was an evolution, not revolution, PS3 games felt not complete, held back by the hardware. Not able to get 1080p 60fps.....sounds familiar? PS4 was the era where all games hit 1080p, 30-60fps, games ran smoother and looked better. I think Switch 2 games are going to really surprise us, specially games from Nintendo. At it's core, TotK was a PS3 game......people forget that.
This is an interesting observation. I suspect you’re correct when you write that we’re likely to be blown away by the Nintendo Switch 2’s capabilities.
The processing power of the GPU in the Switch 2 should be somewhere between a RTX 2050 Max Q and a RTX 3050 mobile based on everything we know. Weak by modern PC standards, but still a massive upgrade over the original Switch. Considering how beautiful games like Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Metroid Prime look on VERY dated hardware, we should see some very impressive looking games on Switch 2.
@TheUltimateRare Same could be said for Gameboy. The Atari Lynx was graphically superior, and had color, but the Gameboy had better games, and was arguably easier to see the screen with it's contrast adjuster.
I'm honestly kinda glad it's still underpowered, I believe that Nintendo is able to create such high quality games because they push the limits of the hardware and have to work around limitations. Limitations foster creativity after all
You can’t compared this to pc you have to compared it to steam deck and clones and switch 2 if it’s at 12gb with a t239 is a little over a steam deck if it’s at 16gb it’s way over the steamdeck

The ignorant people below commenting on the fact it's 'just a handheld' is mind boggling to me after seeing what the original Switch did sales wise. The new internals of the Switch 2 are rumored to be around PS4 quality, In that handheld/hybrid form factor. What's more, we're talking the most creative first party game dev of all-time in Nintendo. They made blockbusters on the Switch that sold like crazy. I just don't get these power focused gamers that constantly down talk Nintendo. The number one asset for any system is the creativity of the developers behind the software, not the specs of the hardware. You give those ultra creative devs more power and more freedom to be creative and I don't see how people can be expecting failure here. Just a bunch of jaded cynics imo...
Not everyone wants to play at sub 720p 30fps forever, yeah we get it it’s Nintendo and they’re not about power but 1080p 60FPS should be the minimum we’re way past 2010
Consider that its basically a handheld that will be selling around $400 us. I feel like a built pc in the same budget would deliver similar results @zenvultra
Thank you for giving an in-depth analysis of graphics for this new Mario Kart game. Yeah, from a glance, it looks like there isn't much graphical improvement, but when you point out that there is much more improvement, this genuinely makes me happy that the Switch 2 will be powerful and be able to handle more details, renderings, and bigger games. I think what got people to think that it didn't look that fantastic is because the footage itself is kinda shrunk down for the Switch 2 reveal. So, the details are not as noticeable unless you point it out. So, when the Switch 2 Direct releases in April, we should get a better resolution for this new Mario Kart game and see the details even better.
@@maegnificantto be fair the video was made to show the switch 2 model as opposed to the software. The Mario kart footage is simply a teaser, not a full in depth look to what we will get.

@@lllULTIMATEMASTERlll what were you expecting for a handheld that will likely be sub $400? Nintendo will work magic with the power it offers but it was never going to be 4k 60 ultra realistic graphics.
One wish i have always had for mario kart is different day/night or other weather effects that can randomly appear as you play. With all the fancy lighting effects we can see I'd love to see that here
While some Nintendo TH-camrs couldn't distinguish Mario Kart 9 from 8 Deluxe, this guy came to show how MASSIVELY better Mario Kart 9 is turning out to be compared to other Switch games
This also excites me for current Switch 1 games. Does this mean we can expect them to run better and more smoothly on Switch 2? Some games currently suffer from frames drops or slow load times. If the Switch 2 can run Switch 1 games better, that's also a huge boon.
I believe switch 2 will improve the performance on games that have an uncapped framerate and also games with drs will be 1080p at all times. Thats is it IMO.
They've definitely chosen the most hard-to-analyse footage possible. Mk8 had super good usage of super soft, nicely smoothed baked shadows for the tracks themselves. Except in this trailer, all shadows appear to have the same sharpness/are similar enough to look like dynamic shadowmaps(which are typically only used for racers themselves/moving objects). But since its taking place in a desert, it'd make sense for shadows to be sharper, so it could also just be a stylistic choice(dry dry desert in mk8 had very soft shadows for ex)
I'd like to see the spectators too. If there's one take away to Mario kart 8 is how poor the spectators are. They're animated at 30FPS, low poly and, on some maps, are just a flat 2D animated image that runs at a sad 15FPS. As far as the core map design and main player models are concerned the game still looks great but everything else has had some serious sacrifices
I bought an RTX 3090 in 2021 and have yet to play a single game on it that impressed me. But Zelda TOTK blew me away with its graphics despite being lower resolution and running on a handheld toaster. So I don't care anymore about graphics, just give me some games.
The potential mouse functionality could be a MASSIVE game changer for console shooters. Mouse precision aiming with your right hand and joystick movement with the left hand that feels more natural and accurate than keyboard movement IMO. If this pans out I could see games like Marvel Rivals becoming absolutely huge on the switch.
Hell, it will be nice for even Fire Emblem games and SRPGs. Constantly moving up and down squares and finding squares with directional buttons and analog sticks are a pain.
This sounds superb. I think we’re all going to be super-impressed when we really get to see what the Nintendo Switch 2 is capable of, during its dedicated Nintendo Direct on April 2nd. I certainly don’t expect its performance to match what we’ve enjoyed on Xbox Series X and PS5, but I DO believe this system is going to punch WAY above its weight, so much so that it’ll likely be closer to the current generation than the original Switch was to Xbox One and PS4. Hardware features such as the “mice” will only further cement this thing as a considerable force to be reckoned with.
I immediately noticed the ground texture actually. Couldn’t believe more people weren’t bringing it up. I went back to play MK8 yesterday and wow it really shows its age lol
I think Nintendo did a amazing job with making mk8 look amazing for being on much weaker hardware if people were to be fooled that this new Mario kart looks worse. I think the cartoonish art style of the new Mario kart game along with the showcase course being a flat desert makes in seem the new Mario kart looks worse while the first showcased course in mk8 was a game of more realistic style with Mario circuit which was much smaller meaning it could get away with better graphics and also had alot of loop around and shadows to make it appear better.
@ yes, for a 10 year old game, MK8 looks fantastic. But playing it today, it doesn’t live up to their modern standard of polish across other Mario games.
You just earned a sub. So many others were saying how it looks like Mariokart 8 and I thought I was the only one who saw the differences. Unfortunately nintendos video was very compressed and I’m hoping for a clearer look in the direct (higher res gameplay and less compression). Thanks for the video!
FUNDAMENTALLY it absolutely looks like Mario Kart 8 and Nintendo did themselves a disservice with this game trailer. Not realising either is very disingenuous to yourself
It’s incredible how this new Mario kart is less realistic and more cartoony but the graphics and frame rate is going to be so much more smooth and sleek. I love this new art direction for Mario and I can’t wait to see it in all its glory in April
Amazing video!! I really appreciate how you go into detail on the shadow distances as I noticed some games on the og switch having their shadow cut off but seeing how you go into details on the footage gives me more respect to game developers like you. I hope your video helps people understand more on this.
This is one of the things that I've loved about Nintendo. They've always been able to output high quality good looking games even on underpowered hardware. The switch had some hiccups but they're still one of the remaining game devs that still put out the extra effort to polish their games and improve stability.
I was gonna say, I listened to DF’s podcast on the switch 2, and they seemed relatively dismissive of this footage. This is most likely an unfinished build of the game, and yet it already looks significantly better anything the switch 1 could pull off. I think the art styles being somewhat comparable at a glance is what’s throwing people off, Nintendo’s hardware is actually exciting for the first time in a few generations
I don't always notice subtle things, so I really appreciate having someone who understands what they are looking at point everything out. Thank you muchly!
I was going to take a closer look at the limited movies of MK9 and get a little bit of information, but since they explained everything, I no longer need to do that. great work🎉
This is a quality video my friend, this channel needs more attention. I skipped out on series x and PS5 they didn't offer enough for the money in my opinion. The switch 2 seems to be giving us some actual updates and im excited to see Nintendo be able to make some 4K games!
Hello fellow game developer. Distant shadows are most likely baked, and flag animation is just a simple vertex shader. But this is just nitpicking, switch 2 is significantly faster. More than 2x faster than the PS4 and 6x faster than the original Switch.
3x faster than Switch2 and with PRO 5x faster. TFLOPS isn't everything though and I think the console will in the end (if rumors are true) will be better even than PS4PRO despite being slower judging by TFLOPS and probably running in lower native resolutions.

@@MrBl3ki I agree with you 100%. Games will end up looking, and running better than on PS4 Pro. Especially ones made by Nintendo. Imagine what those people who made the engine for Breath of the Wild will be able to do with 6x more TFLOPS.
They're worse on the switch than any other of their consoles ESPECIALLY recently. Every major switch game over the past 3 years that isn't a port/remake have been plagued with performance issues galore. I do hope that the switch 2 doesnt mimic the switch hardware to play switch games (which is how the wiiU would play Wii games) else they will always have those issues. I think it's clear Nintendo is feeling restricted by their own hardware when TOTK shits the bed the moment you activate ultra hand.
I found your channel last year and its very entertaining and informative watching your videos and also you're probably the one who was able to explain what some people like me see on those very small details and love the reminiscent of the mario kart 64 with the new design. Love your breakdown on why the new game really runs on a powerful hardware in Nintendo
Thanks for enjoying and showing support for the channel. How exciting is it that we got confirmation for the new Switch finally!? Let's look forward to more news!
This is the most in depth video I've seen analyzing the power of the Switch 2. The other channels I watch never went this in depth and was hoping they would.
im glad i found your channel, you have a great voice thats very reserved and controlled and somewhat calming. you also describe things very well. glad i subbed lol
This is a fantastic video describing the technical differences in games from a SW1 to a SW2 standpoint. Even though, I'm only returning to gaming after a long absence (Gen Xer who got daughter a SW1 in 2020), I really learned a lot from this. You should do another video with visual side-by-side comparisons of your discussion on shadow scaling, ground textures and so on between Mario Kart 8 versus 9.
I'm really eager to see what the devs will be able to do with this new system. Especially Monolith Soft and Retro Studios cause they work on the more graphically ambitious series and Monolith Soft already does wonders for their collaborations with Nintendo. That's what I was always saying to players who didn't picture why a new more powerful Switch was necessary. I was thinking about the devs who were incredibly limitated on the Switch hardware and couldn't fully express their talent and also had to constantly do big graphical sacrifices and compromises. Obviously the Nintendo devs are much more competent than what the graphics of the Switch games make it look like and I imagine it always was a source of frustration for them. Now the Nintendo systems are FINALLY going to fill the technological gap for the most part and it's really a turning point for Nintendo. It had to be this way when you look at the big picture cause the brand's weaknesse has always been the power of their hardwares since the GameCube and the Switch is already such a great concept that the only aspects where you can really improve the hardware is by making it more powerful. Nintendo ironically has to do what PlayStation and X Box were doing all this time because the rest is already great. I think Nintendo adopted the right strategy by searching for power only in a second time because being creative with each game is more difficult than using the most modern technologies. All Nintendo had to do was waiting for the technological gaps to slow down for them to come back technologically with decently powerful hardwares. Sounds like their long term plan is finally showing results. Maybe PlayStation and X Box will have to focus more on good gameplay and creativity like Nintendo always did now.
2:28 good explanation regarding physical based rendering. That's why big audiences (spectators) in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were sprites rather than 3D models of characters
Thanks for the educational.... I noticed all that lol but didn't know anything about the energy and compute economy. It's definitely sensible, but also assumed the video was post rendered. There's a professional explanation for all the enhancement, that's a game changer. I'll take you as the, reputable source on this, and start citing this channel every where.
Yeah this game is without a doubt a huge upgrade. More quality on all characters and karts and a much bigger map. So much better drew distance and the map is bigger across the board. I’m certain the map has more than this though! Maybe something that modified the map? Then I see DigitalFoundry covering it… saying it looks the same and that guy said he had a hundred hours into MK8… like that is anything close to much… damn casual.
Great analysis and I didn't notice a lot but you also missed something. Looks like player count will double from 12 to 24! It will be fun to see their full presentation in April
I like pretty graphics as much as the next guy, but how may this new power be used to improve gameplay and experiences beyond shorter loading times? Which sort of mechanics were difficult to pull in Switch 1 but that may be implemented in the 2 more easily? (Reflections in mirrors and doing puzzles with them?)
The tangible benefit really comes from the reduction of resistance and friction during development. Switch devs have to deal with a LOT of problem solving, engineering solution, and cutting content and features due to the weaker hardware. This wastes a lot of development time and demoralizes developers. Instead of getting to make a game, developers have to waste significant time "trying to just make something work". The Switch 2 looks like it removes that resistance.
This is so impressive and so exciting! The Switch 2 is really a huge upgrade! Thank you for breaking it down for us! All the graphical advances you mentioned are major MAJOR jumps!
Thanks for this amazing insight. We're going to have to wait a while for more details, so having a professional talk about what was shown is really cool.
A fair point, but please consider two things: Nintendo’s Switch 2 video (which Digital Foundry analyzed) wasn’t of the highest quality, and the gentleman in this piece has actual development experience on Nintendo’s platforms. If he’s this impressed by what he’s seen, then I’m inclined to give his words weight. Of course, time being the great revealer that it is, we’ll have a deeper understanding on this matter in due course. Fun times ahead.
@@slipneira I'm pretty sure they both watched the same low quality video and this guys opinion is offered based on evidence from the video, not from his development experience. If people want to infer that what he is saying is based on his personal experience but I've never heard of the dude until now so I have to consider if this video is click-bait or not. I don't think the DF guys credibility can be called into question and I trust their eyes for this sort of thing even through a low quality video.
@RickyBullock I understand what you’re saying, but I encourage you to not lose hope. I suspect that we’ll all be pleased with the Nintendo Switch 2’s actual reveal, which will take place during the April 2nd Nintendo Direct. It’s still early days, in other words. Hold steady.
Very nice explanations, people are doom posting on twitter claiming this game looks just like mario kart 8, they don't recognice that is actually a massive merit for the current Switch and Nintendo developers who do magic with that console using all kind of trickery to make a game look good on 0.39tflops of performance, now they can use more complex techniques for lightning and geometry as you say more easily, much higher poly count for games and high res textures, it'll be amazing the things we will see in that console!
Well said. MK8 was masterfully made. What we see here actually is a show of brute force power combined with excellent artists and experienced developers who have no need to "show off".

If they give me an open world single player mario kart mode with lots of shinies to collect, this is how nintendo gets me to care about mario kart... Also, Mario Kart Infinite - they troll everyone by calling it Mario Kart 8, turn the 8 - 90 degrees and then reveal the Infinite subtitle to it!

It’d be cool if they have a like sandbox area you drive around in to either collect stuff in or test out various kart combinations

The switch 2 doesn't need 4k the screen is 1080p and docked it'll probably do 1440p but I'm positive most devs will stick to 1080 since undocked is better than PS4 and docked is closer to PS4 pro with upscaling which is perfectly fine on a small - medium TV@@darth6472

I'm very excited about that reduced dependence on bloom you mentioned, because I've always disliked bloom. It felt unnecessary, intrusive, and reductive to the quality of gameplay that I saw it overused in. One of the first things I typically do with any game I play that has flashy bloom stuff in it, is TURN IT OFF. If I wanted to be blinded by light while playing a game, I can take a handheld outdoors in the summer. So a reduction in bloom and bloom filters to me means an increase in visibility in games across the board. And if you want to play a game, you have to see what is going on. Also, I'm very glad that your projects are going to be able to see a total net positive with the hardware upgrade! It sucks when some guy in authority sends a blanket TOS update out without considering the implications of the people using their product. Sucky.

Nintendo left the power race a long time ago when they made the Wii so it's not a surprise if they are "behind" on specs.
Limitations foster creativity after all
Doubt it comes close to 3050
You can’t compared this to pc you have to compared it to steam deck and clones and switch 2 if it’s at 12gb with a t239 is a little over a steam deck if it’s at 16gb it’s way over the steamdeck

They made blockbusters on the Switch that sold like crazy. I just don't get these power focused gamers that constantly down talk Nintendo.
Probably because they want us to be blown away in the April direct. Maybe they don't want us to get too excited yet.
Models are also very high poly. Look at Mario and his kart. The steering wheel is a smooth circle compared to MK8 decagonal steering wheel.
I'd like to see the spectators too. If there's one take away to Mario kart 8 is how poor the spectators are. They're animated at 30FPS, low poly and, on some maps, are just a flat 2D animated image that runs at a sad 15FPS.
The bigger tablet screen also helps make that a viable option. Would be cool to take to an airport, and play on a table for example.

You should do another video with visual side-by-side comparisons of your discussion on shadow scaling, ground textures and so on between Mario Kart 8 versus 9.
14:50 This could be why Silksong hasn’t been revealed yet since it and the original Hollow Knight were also made in Unity.

I saw other analysis videos point that out. That is gonna be crazy!! 24 racers online in one race.
@sungrandstudios thanks for the explanation and insight.
Thanks for watching. Before I am a professional, I am a gamer, and I just love this stuff. It'll be great to get more news from Nintendo.
The Digital Foundry guys watched the same video you did and to say there were unimpressed by what MK9 showed would be an understatement.
@RickyBullock
I understand what you’re saying, but I encourage you to not lose hope. I suspect that we’ll all be pleased with the Nintendo Switch 2’s actual reveal, which will take place during the April 2nd Nintendo Direct. It’s still early days, in other words. Hold steady.
There are obviously more details and a higher render distance than in MK8. I don't get, why some people complain.
Complaining is just part of the fun and how we engage with games. It's not a big deal. When the system launches, it will be great. I have no doubt.
What we see here actually is a show of brute force power combined with excellent artists and experienced developers who have no need to "show off".
you really explained everything so good! things i didnt notice at first but now i see, youre right there so many details pointing at a more powerfull hardware
Thank you for watching the video. It'll be awesome when we get more news from Nintendo.
This was such a great video sir, I loved hearing what you had to say and watched the video all the way through 🙏
Thank you for watching and enjoying the video!
That would be so cool... Let's not get our hopes up yet about an open world kart racer yet. Let's watch and see what they do.
Diddy Kong Racing but bigger
@@sungrandstudios the actual races won't be, the main mario kart gameplay, but that would be an additional mode of a fun sandbox open world to drive around in
Regular 2D and 3D Mario games dont even emphasize stories that much, and you're looking for Story Mode in a MK game.
Good luck with that. LOL
If you look at this course, it has so many different paths that can be taken with some being blocked off of course. But with 24 racers, the tracks definitely have to be larger. It’d be cool if they have a like sandbox area you drive around in to either collect stuff in or test out various kart combinations
10:55 you know what else is massive?

I wonder how they managed to optimize splatoon 3 in 60 frames.
I was literally looking through the stages on recon mode with my gf and I was just blown away , so much details for stuff you barely see on a normal match
THANK YOU! Finally someone who can look at a teaser and actually see what we all see: big improvements. As always, a true developer knows a lot more than journalists like IGN and Digital Foundry.
i’m really glad you made this. i’m passionate about games and their visuals but i wasn’t privy to a lot of the things you pointed out here, and it’s made me feel a lot more confident and excited for this thing. 3rd party support is gonna be so much better
This is amazing
Congrats mate… it doesn’t matter what you are talking about at this point, I’m clicking… but when you get all nerdy on game design and behind the scenes stuff, I’m in for a real treat. 🥰
Btw, do you have games you’ve worked on that are available on switch?
Hey thanks for coming to hang out at the channel here! I appreciate it. My latest Switch game is an action puzzle game called "Clasherball". People tell me my most fun Switch game is probably "Silver Falls - Ghoul Busters", a horror side scrolling platformer inspired by the Game Boy and a story set in the early 90s.
If GTA 6 releases on Switch 2, that would be epic.
😂
@@bloodlinegate7Why are you laughing? It releases on Series S and eventually on PC. And they would have to make it work on mid to low end PCs because that is what most people have.
@ Rockstar never downgrades, they don't even care to release it on switch. They will release it to anything that is capable of running it and switch 2 is not one of them.
That would be so freaking ground breaking. I would love to see Square Enix relelasing Final Fantasy VII Remake for Nintendo Switch 2.
@@bloodlinegate7 Never say never. Rockstar will be releasing GTA 6 for Nintendo Switch 2 as well as Red Dead Redemption II. Both games will be using NVIDIA 4K DLSS with AI upscale technology.
I was initially very underwhelmed by how it looks so much like MK8 the moment it popped up on screen. But after looking at the footage over and over and seeing comparisons over the past few days, there is so much more detail in the characters and their vehicles. And that's only what we can see from low quality footage.
Good Evening, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain an in-depth analysis of the Switch limitations, and how the changes will impact the new hardware in the future. Thanks again for everything that you do.
Nice suit. It's refreshing to see people dress and act professionally once and a while.
This guy is really smart, he should make video games for a living.
“Ground resolutions look much higher”
*Ground looks like a brown blob*
this is a lower quality video you can watch the official trailer and see what he’s talking about
@@goldleaf054yea I was just referring to the video next to his head. It looks decent in Nintendos upload but it’ll still look even better natively 🫡
See so many complaining about how botw was garbage quality in switch 1. I had it on wii u and had best time of my life. Looking forward for the switch 2. Loved playing batman in wii u as well.
Thank you for a developer's perspective. Pointing out these elements of the trailer. It took me a couple of times to notice the differences between this and MK8. 🧐
I'm so excited for this system . This is the first time ive never bought a current gen PS or XBOX im just not interested in their systems.
The Switch didn't need the graphic power when it came out... That said it does need this new model. 3rd party games from last gen are gonna flood in and I love it. All the awesome games that will now be on handheld will be cool.
BUT im really excited to see what 1st party games are gonna be like .
I'm very excited for this system too!
I will always be about gameplay over graphics, but I hope the Switch 2 will at least be 1080p at a bare minimum, docked/undocked and visually better.
I mainly play PC, but some first party Nintendo games did not look great at times.
I am confident that it will hit 1080p+ in both docked and unlocked unless developers make something that is anti-optimized.
@@sungrandstudios most consumer televisions are now 4k so Nintendo will need to target that for docked preformance
@@darth6472 PS5 struggling with 4K60FPS and you asking that for a handheld with limited power? 😮😮
Most consumer televisions are not spending 2-3k on actually good 4k tvs most have shitty 400 dollar ones that can look worse than a 2k Tv.
@@violent8931 You’re right man, I’m playing Final Fantasy XVI on my PS5 currently, and it’s performance mode is struggling to maintain 60fps while running between 720p and 1080p. People can’t expect the moon from Switch 2 when even PS5 can struggle with 1080p 60…
Sucky.
It’s why I prefer the GameCube version of Wind Waker over the HD release. The bloom in WWHD was insane.
I agree! Bloom has been a bit distracting in many games. Thanks for the comment. Let's look forward to more details about Switch 2!
You have earned yourself a sub sir! Well explained even for those less knowledgeable on game development it was very insightful. Cant wait for what you bring to 2switch
So good to get some insight into the changes and breakdown Thankyou 🙏🏼

This holds a heck of a lot of coffee.
