      Thanks so much, man. I'm really enjoying the FX30. Just got back from another day of using it and there's literally nothing I can't do with it. I don't really need a new camera that does things a little bit better. No one will see the difference except me.

    The heating issue sounds like a real problem in ZVE1. Some of the guys who got the renew unit couldn't go past 15 minutes in the 4k 30 fps mode, not even 60! I have no idea why sony put a sony A7SIII sensor with 10 bit 4.2.2 inside an all plastic body with no heatsink or fan. This made me reconsider

    I am in agreement with the value proposition of the FX30. It is so easy to pull off the shelf to shoot with. I will sit on the sidelines for ZVE1 and watch the marketplace response. We own the RED Komodo and the FX30. It is the appropriate kit at the point. Keep up the commentary.

    I think the ZV-E1 is a great camera. I am considering it as a brother to my FX30. It has the same low light capable sensor as the FX3 and A7Siii. The stability is actually the best of any Sony camera at the moment. At least that's what I've seen from several videos. Plus, I actually like the built in creative looks along with the faux anamorphic framing. They can be used to shoot fun shorts without having to do a lot of post work. It's a full frame camera, so I don't know what people are complaining about cropping. I've yet to hear any such complaints from FX3 users.
    The Director of Photography for "Dune" is shooting a feature film with the FX3. And the ZV-E1 has the same sensor. So, there will be no real issue with the image quality of the ZV-E1. The overheating issues are only a thing for people shooting weddings and long form interviews. As a filmmaker, I mostly shoot short shots. Plus, since Sony has acknowledged the overheating, they will most likely have a firmware update to address it. As well, Sony cameras come with the High Temp setting to reduce overheating.
    At the moment, I am not able to get the ZV-E1. But, it is definitely a choice I am considering. I have the FX30, so I am in no rush. Either way, Sony made a pretty bold move with the ZV-E1. I think it will sell quite well despite its price.

    I still go back and forth between the FX30 and A7IV. Not sure the ZV-E1 makes sense for me, as I do a lot of hybrid shooting. Maybe I'll stick with the ZV-e10 for a few years and see. I know I don't want to have two cameras. Low light and stability is what keeps me up and night.

    The stabilization doesn't work in low light at all. The camera in Canada where we are is so expensive 3000$ plus tax body only plus a lens. Also it overheats plus the lens is so big. Sony needs to make small size FF lenses. I think is overpriced. You can get same bokeh with the FX30. As for lowlight in a control environment or outside in Toronto at night is very clean. Sony should price it at 1399. Thank you for your input. I'm also enjoying the FX30. I prefer cinema cameras.

    I am in a similar dilemma as you do though my issue is if I should get an FX30 or the new ZV1. Half of my glass are APSC and I am half hearted with stepping up to full frame. I currently have a ZV E10 that kinda taught me how to shoot video and really the only reason for the upgrade is getting 10bit

    • @noisackda2564
      @noisackda2564  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the logical step is the FX30 TBH. You already have glass to go with it. I know you are looking at 10bit but I feel the best things about the FX30 over the ZVE10 are less crop and much better rolling shutter and stability. You can also Upload luts to preview. This alone has helped me out quite a bit.

    Hey great videos bud. I'm trying to up my videos from a cell phone. Is the zve10 in your opinion enough to make videos pop over cell phone videos?

    • @noisackda2564
      @noisackda2564  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Short answer is yes. Long answer is you have to know quite a bit like how to edit color properly. The camera itself won't allow you to capture perfect footage out of the box. You have to really invest hours into learning it. Do you know the basic functions of a camera like F-stop and shutter speeds and stuff? If you plan on investing time in it then the ZVE10 is phenomenal. Everything you see here is done 100% with the camera. I don't think it would be possible to shoot and edit something that looks like this on a cell phone.

    • @noisackda2564
      @noisackda2564  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here's a video I made with the ZVE10 that did not need color adjustments. If you buy this camera and got the Sony 11mm F1.8 and copied my settings the footage should look close to what's in this video. If you think this is better footage than your phone then I would go for it. Also factor in the cost of the lens itself. All the best th-cam.com/video/Mnb2vk12RVk/w-d-xo.html

      There are a lot of ways you can go here. For podcasting, I think the ZVE1 is out of the question due to overheating. The ZVE10 is fine if you lock it off. I use mine as a webcam hooked up to an Elgato 4K and it works very well. I think the obvious choice would be the FX30 TBH. It's a workhorse. It has an internal fan and will never overheat. The kit is also very well built. Very professional. If you ever decided to shoot something professional and roll up with the FX30 people will take you more seriously haha.

      @noisackda2564  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends on what's important to you. I can say that the FX30 is amazing. The build quality and reliability are phenomenal. It beats out the ZVE10 on pretty much everything except low light and stability. Not to say that low light and stability are terrible on the FX30. It's pretty amazing actually. The footage when shot in SLOG3 will appear grainy but as soon as you apply a LUT it cleans right up. I honestly think these are two of the best cameras for video at this price range. There's also the lumix s5ii but then it gets complicated haha.

      @@gucheefam I have a soft spot for Panasonic as well. My first ever," Serious" Camera was the GF1. I know! Super old haha. I honestly think that the new Panasonic would be the best choice in the fact that the stability is second to none, and colors look so good strait our of camera. Not Fuji good but damn good. With that said, The FX30 is also very good. Active stability is amazing and there's nothing that can touch Sony when it comes to autofocus. If you plan on shooting on the daytime then there's really nothing you need to worry about. Plus if you don't like to color grade Sony has scinetone that looks amazing trait out of camera. The good thing is you have some amazing choices now. The ZVE1 is coming out and according to specs. There's nothing that compares in that price range. If you don't shoot continuously over 30 min you should be fine. Then again, I don't know a single person that shoots over 15min continuously haha.

    As someone who enjoyed your last cinematic vlog (the train ride scene was hard), the dense buttery image funneled out of the pipeline of 4K full readout 12 MP sensor, not to mention the unrivaled lowlight capability, will definitely lend itself to the Wong Kar Wai film vibes you seem to have got going for your cinematic vlogs. I'd say cop it and pump out some vloggy style cinematics with aesthetically pleasing imageries for the next couple years and switch to FX3m2. Having said that, your FX30 is fine.

    • @tyrellarchives7852
      @tyrellarchives7852 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertaltman222 You could benefit from a higher MP sensor if you are a photographer, but as far as video, 12MP is the native 4K resolution. 12MP is what allows the FX3 (and ZV-E1) to be such a competent video shooter. The FX3 does not have to downsample, so doesn't create large amounts of heat, so can read out its full sensor very quickly, resulting in buttery smooth raw image with world class rolling shutter performance, not to mention its lowlight capability being a full frame sensor.

    Hey man, just discovered your channel and I really like your cinematic art approach! Amazing how much you are able to pull out of the ZV E10! Makes me want to learn about color grading to maximize my ZV E10 and A7IV, but I'm afraid, since I'm partly color blind :D
    Currently I just film my videos in standard profile and upload to YT, but seeing your footage really wants me to dig into this topic more.
    Hope this shows you there are also people out here on the other side of the planet, who like your cinematic art approach :)
    On the topic of ZV E1 I agree the price is high. But somehow I don't understand, why people complain about it so much. If it is out of your budget don't buy it and walk away, no hard feelings. Within the Sony eco system there are sooo many options to chose. Literly from 500,- APSc / compact cameras up to sky's the limit cinema cameras. And other brands also offer extremely good alternatives. There is plenty of options for every person, even if it is "only" your phone.

    I am thinking about upgrading from the Sony a6400 I started my channel with to the ZV-E1! I couldn’t justify the cost of the FX3 but at almost half the price I think it’s a deal. I can’t wait for all of that low light capable 10-bit full frame goodness. I have started to move towards full frame glass and I typically shoot shorter clips so the overheating issues don’t worry me much. I almost pulled the trigger on the FX30 a few months ago. That is a very capable camera so if I was in your shoes I’m not sure I would get it either. My a6400 is still okay but I really want that 10-bit color. The a6400 will become my go to for photos with its higher megapixel sensor. Good insight. Nice video!

      @noisackda2564  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man. Thanks for the kind words. If you're coming from the a6400 you will see a huge bump in IQ with either the FX30 or the ZVE1 due to clean stability and the way the new sensors handle color roll off. 4K 60 and 120p are also a good reason to upgrade but the biggest game changer for me is being able to shoot propper SLOG3 with a preview lut installed. It pretty much ensures you hit the proper exposure every time. It's like a cheat sheet. So the combination of smooth 10 bit and crazy good image stability will be a huge game changer for you, and it does sound like the ZV-E1 is the perfect camera for you. All the best :)

    Until they fix the overheating, at any price the value is compromised to me. I get all the first reviewers were trying to back Sony trying to frame it as a 'vlogger' camera and feature the recording time limits as a non-issue because in that creative space they say no one needs it, but really...no thanks. I bought the ZV-E10 to do some YT content, but for short clips I needed for work. Ended up being my main webcam, streaming cam, event cam, and more without needing to compromise.
    And really, going from any APSC system to a full frame is going to cost more than the camera, unless you are going to compromise there and use the APSC lenses to start and take time to save for the FF lenses.
    I dunno, I am still waiting to see some new sensors to address rolling shutter, resolutions and frame rates without crop before getting something. I think the FX30 would be perfect if it had a little less noise and better dual base ISO personally. But I could buy that right now and get a great bump in quality for the work I do, without any real compromise or need to update my whole APSC to FF setup. Beyond that, the FX3 is one my regular notifications for used gear. When other cameras update this year I think there could be a $$$ drop there.

    People are hating on Sony for the ZVE1 vs A7s3, but the truth is that it's better to compete against your own brand. Sony has to do what they have to do. On the other hand, the FX30 is an excellent choice for aspiring filmmakers. Remember, it's not just about your current situation; it's about the journey and the progress you make along the way.

    I always use the movie Collateral with Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox...the movie was shot on video, it is grainy, soft etc..with the FX30 you could make a movie like Collateral with less noise, sharper, better colours...yet it is the story, the acting that we cannot reproduce...my point is that the FX30 is a slick piece of technology..it is no longer about the camera..

    • @noisackda2564

      Agreed 100% but I do love a nice clean image though :P There's also the fact that the ZVE1 is going to have a lot of quality-of-life improvements that will expedite my creative process. The three-capsule mic is oddly enough a huge deal for me and so are the stability and low-light capabilities. Essentially less time in post-cleaning up things like grain and stability so I can enjoy more time with the family. Of course, I'm making excuses because I want a new toy :P The FX30 isn't going anywhere, This is a pro-grade camera and is much more reliable than the ZVE1. If I'm doing professional work I wouldn't feel comfortable with the ZVE1 TBH. One card slot and overheating is no bueno haha. ZVE1 is going to be the fun-time camera :P

    I'm not so sure either. I am not so sure about the stab on the ZV-E1. Someone did a vlog (maybe Gerald Undone) and walked normal and it wasn't that great. I have a hunch that a lot of the videos are being tweaked or run through a stabilizer so they don't trash the camera and bite the Sony hands that feed them. Also with only 12 megapixels, the crop might do more to the image than it does in the FX30 or even ZVE10 because they are downsampled from 6k. Not sure. That lowlight is crazy though! That second base ISO at like 10,000 is insane.

It would be the perfect camera for me if it were a little less expensive. I want to see more of how the stab really is and how it performs in 90+ degree weather. It gets really hot here in the summer and I'd like to be able to take it on vacation. I'm hesitant to bring the zv-e10 with me at times for fear it might get stolen let alone something even more expensive. There are a few Tamron lenses that aren't that expensive that would work well with it. I'm thinking 17-28 f/2.8 maybe. Personally, I just like a natural amount of Bokeh like what your natural eyes might produce. The lower apertures are necessary in the aps-c for lowlight.
