@@looeyg No since mankind already began merging with reploids in ZX's time. The Decoys (the main life in Legends) from all evidence have no real differences from mankind circa ZX and while they were genetically separate from the Master's kind nothing says they weren't kindred.
Something I really like about this video is how you combine manga, the two games that are base off the first game, and the comic and made it one big love letter.
I've enjoyed a lot of these Timeline videos (Castlevania and the Metroid series being my other favorites). Now you've gotten started with one of my favorite video game franchises of all time! I am so ready for this!!!!
Wow, that comic added so much depth to Dr. Light. I always used to think Wily got the shittier hand in life but Dr. Light here faces a clear case of facing consequences for doing the right thing, or what he thinks is right at least, his intentions are not bad, obviously, but with Protoman it wasn't enough.
And even after getting banned from working on robotics Light still kept Willy's friendship and allowed him to work side by side with him. At the end of the day Wily was always gonna be a villain.
@@GamerThumbTV I do have problems with the archie comic, Wily already uses his castle and we know this doesn't happen until Megaman 2, in 1 he just takes over a normal robot manufacturing plant.
@@KARKATELCESARENVIADODESA-pv4yd likely inspired by the Powered Up Remake where he directly calls it Wily Castle. Makes sense since they included Time and Oil Man too
Awesome! I loved watching my buddy playing these games back in the days and absolutely LOVED the cartoon. So I'm REALLY looking forward to these Untold Legends videos! Great job with part 1; I was very entertained!
Nice work as always. Never really been into the games themselves but the characters and robots in the universe of MegaMan are great, especially the ones outside it like X and battle network.
Excellent editing, great job finding and mixing together such a wide range of media, and integrating them all into your explanations and theories. I love the one-by-one breakdown of the levels, robot masters, and individual enemies, and the time dedicated to each. I hope you never compromise that level of detail to make it shorter or less repetitive, I look forward to hearing the canon names of all the enemies.
Wait a sec...did I hear right? There was Mega Man on MS-DOS? There was a Rockman cartoon series? The gameplay was inspired by "Rock, Paper, Scissors"? Dr. Light was inspired by Santa? Capcom states in their own user manual that Mega Man's primary objective is "penetration?" And finally, to top it off, "Box Art Mega Man?" As Bison once infamously said, "This is delicious!" P.S. Thanks for the Captain N scene.
I cannot express enough the joy it brought me hearing the use of Wily's Fortress at the chapter openings. This version doesn't get enough love; most everyone defers to Wily 1-2 from Mega Man 2.
I LOVE the Megaman Mythos. Blues' story at the beginning of the series especially hits hard. Free will is such a complicated thing, even someone as wise as Dr Light cannot fully cover every aspect of it. Then when Blues decided he wants to come home he sees Rock and Roll and believes he's been completely replaced. A short time later, Wily betrays Light and you have Rock awakening to his sense of justice, his willingness to risk himself for the sake of others, just like Blues. The X and Zero series are my favorite of the bunch but it's hard to argue against the OG series for the story it presents.
Making the story of Blues ever more tragic, Dr. Light would've welcomed him back with open arms, and Light didn't even get to see him be a hero just like Rock decided to be.
Awesome! I'm looking forward to this. 0:55. Whoa, thanks for the shoutout and sorry about the flak I gave you on the Perfect Castlevania timeline. But if I may, The Archie Mega Man series stopped making comics after the story of Mega Man 3, only offering brief glimpses of the stories that could have been in the final issue. How will you find material to work with from 4 onward?

This is awesome my old friend! Glad to see you take on a Mega Man Timeline, as it has never been well made in the past to line them up in a perfect timeline as Capcom never have bothered. Even with the future Mega Man X linking it back to the original beside that Dr. Thomas Light built both. I have always imagined that even if X is his own robot and all that, I like to believe Dr. Light put in some memories and codes from the original "Mega Man" and some minor parts that serve no big purpose for establishing his creation lives on as new "X". We never get to know what happened to Mega Man in the X continuation. I can very much imagine Bass and Protoman went those fates. Was he finaly defeated and destroyed beyond repairs by some far to advanced threat? A threat that he bested but lost his life in climax? that made Dr. Light start build X? Was he deactivated for some reason and stored away, to then been lost to time somewhere like what near happened to X? Yes I hope you can dig deep and make some working timeline !!!!
I think Capcom has the perfect built in storyline already for explaining the transition from Classic to X so I have my own ideas, which of course I'll cover in this series. I've always liked the idea of Mega Man being upgraded into X but there's two things Capcom has been 100% clear on. Classic Mega Man and X are two different robots, and Zero did not kill X when Wily created him. So officially it's all a big mystery.
Fantastic video my dude! I love this as much as I love your Castlevania and Metroid videos! Here's some more Awesomeness from you man you know you got my attention❤❤❤
After watching this Mega Man story you did and how well it was done, I'm waiting for part II and the rest to follow. I'm so glad I seen this video. I have subbed and gave you a like as well. Stay safe and very great job on this video.
Also the music in this video is amazing (that remix whenever u show Mega Man on top of the train for each chapter) I wish i knew where to find all these remixes/covers 😍
@@GamerThumbTV Oh! Thanks! That makes it way easier to find 😁 Amazing video so far btw! I can't wait to see the whole series and where u take it! This is my favorite TH-cam channel after watching the Castlevania and Resident Evil timelines! Keep up the amazing work, man! 😁
YES I am excited for this one. Mega Man has been my bread and butter for the past 30+ years, and is one of the few series in which I'd consider myself a lore expert. I can't wait to pick apart your findings! (I kid)
@@GamerThumbTV If you didn't already know about it, I also recommend checking out the Mega Man X novelization which is based on the 90s manga that retold the events of the first X game. It's called "Rockman X: The Novel - Irregulars Report" and it received a fan translation a few years ago. My comment might get auto deleted if I post the link, but if you search for the name, you'll find a Rockman Corner article that has a link to the translation. It is a very interesting story that is told essentially through Maverick Hunter combat reports, via the viewpoints of different characters like Chill Penguin, Vile, etc. It doesn't add an insane amount of extra lore or anything, but it does a great job characterizing and showcasing the motivations of various characters and what they go through on everyday missions. Definitely a worthy read for a die hard MM fan!
39:26 Maybe it's hearsay, but I'm pretty sure Rock was originally built with the copy chip already inside him. It's what made him a good lab assistant: he could copy any tool Dr. Light needed and provide it on demand. When he was upgraded into Mega Man, Dr. Light turned the chip into the Variable Weapons System so he could copy other robots' powers too.
Oh hell YEAH!! Inject this right into my eyeballs! Lol, im happy you included Pharaoh Man decking Mega Man from the ruby spears cartoon, easily my favorite bit. Also, Bad Box Art Roll has me down bad.....😂
I have a few novalty shirts that never shrink, never wear, and never get "holy" in the wash! I wonder, and have for a long time what blend they are made of. because most shirts shrink, ride up and get thread bare and holy-avenger.
Yea these are awesome. Usually it's those thick cotton shirts that get all messed up after washing a couple times. I hate those. The ones from INTO THE AM are genuinely excellent quality. Otherwise, I wouldn't have them on the channel.
This is gonna be a truly legendary timeline series.. Also I gotta give kudos to Archie Comics for not only just expanding on Mega Man lore, but also on the Sonic the Hedgehog series as a whole.
I found the Archie comics much more useful than the Japanese manga when it came to supporting the Mega Man 1 story. It feels more like classic Mega Man.
I enjoy that Archie included Oil Man and Time Man from a remake game. Two who are feel obscure in the series and never been seen again. Also enjoy that Archie also incorporate most spinoff of Classic Mega Man like the side games. Ra Moon is my favorite. Mega Man Powered Up and Megaman Maverick Hunter X seem to be good game. I wished they continued these reboots. Capcom see bad sales or not sale numbers of their expectation, no more games.
So chapter one starts off talking about the era 20XX. How ironic that six years ago (2018) Batterystaple Games released a Mega Man knockoff called 20XX.
I am 42. I didn’t play Mega Man games till Mega Man X. I liked it but didn’t get into the rest of the series. In 2022, I downloaded the Legacy packs. I played through the games from 1-10, then 11, then X1 - X8. I played X7 10 times in a row to unlock everything. I played X8 13 times in a row to unlock everything. I skipped Zero 1-4 and played through ZX and ZX: ADVENT. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Mega Man is an instant classic and a great story. I was on the fence about them changing the story for the ZX games, but they handled it well.
Your timelines are the best. Still kinda sad that Resident Evil is over for now. But looking forward to this one. How find all those details and compile them in a way where they all make sense.
Resident Evil over? I've been working on the updated Resident Evil Story for a while now. Parts 4 and 5 are coming soon. Check out the playlist on the channel.
@@GamerThumbTV oh shit just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in. Looking forward to it I think there isn't a video game series more diverse than resident evil. Always trying to something better or different.
With so many games, this could take years to finish. Get comfy people, this is going to be good. On a side note, while Capcom may say Legends takes place AFTER X and other series, I always considered it its own continuity.
Hey at least this channel will never run out of content and I always thought Legends being its own thing made more sense. But Capcom is clear about its placement.
I do wanna point out people think no robot masters had free will but in reaility Protoman, blues, DID have free will and regularly showed he was more than capable of refusing orders or hurting people of he wanted. It was pretty lucky he had a decent moral concious and didnt go full killer robot. This is probably why light did the capsule thing with X as to not take that risk again.
@deltagearadvanced5140 Protoman wasn't a Robot Master though, that was a specific line of robots built for specific tasks. Protoman is from the same line as Mega Man, designed with some basic personality programming but got to choose his actions. Robot Masters couldn't resist their programming.
@@GamerThumbTV DLN-000, sharing the same production line as all other robot master type robots. I think the general usage of RB became shorthand for any advanced Dr.Light-like robot because keep in mind there are games later in the series where there are robots specifically not built for tasks or even built by light but they are still referred to as robot masters and given the same numbering system as one. The best example is the Mr.X phase with the combat robots in that game that were specifically built for a robot combat tournament. True i concede that Blue's isn't a RB in the function sense, but he still is in terms of general blueprints and base mechanics and how the in universe people treats the terms AFTER the events of the first few games events.
Gonna be honest...Dr. Wily was kind of on to something with his whole "let's not give these things sentient thought, we're making tools not life forms" thing.
@@GamerThumbTVthanks OH another question what are your plans for megaman 4 5 and 6 as you wont have the comics to fall back on to expand those stories and classic megaman did not really get much plot till 7 so will those just be brieft bits
1:02:13 uh, TV, maybe you should have gotten a different voice clip for this part where Wily actually loses in Powered Up, it sort of clashes with the scene in screen.
Doesn't lose though. His plan was to break out of prison, distract everyone, and escape to build his new robot masters. Him begging for mercy wouldn't have made sense here. "Maybe next time" is a more fitting line.
@@GamerThumbTV i get it, but I wasn't refferig to the whole scene, just the moment where he screams is what should have been used instead for the Real Ending voice clip when you beat Wily in Powered Up. It just feels very jarring to hear him say "Maybe next time" when he was literally inside the Wily Machine when it exploded and ejected to the ground, it would fit better when he was escaping from Megaman in the last part of the video and not the footage of Megaman 1 Final Boss where he is defeated.
@@marcosgalvis3498 In the comic issue the machine doesn't even explode like in the game. It collapses and he's still inside. It's the overall idea that matters, he's captured then escapes.
Can someone PLEASE tell me what the name of the animated Mega Man series shown in the opening and the scene with Roll was from? 😍 I only know of the American 90s show and the Japanese one where Mega Man leaves the television, but that isnt what was shown here 😱
Sadly, it doesn't exist as a show. That was the pitch for the American animated series that didn't get picked up. Instead they "Americanized" it by aging up Mega Man and making him muscular. The later animated segments with Roll waking up is from the Japan exclusive interactive game, Super Adventure Rockman.
@@GamerThumbTVAwe man! What a bummer, that show looked amazing! Also, I thought in the video you said "This bitch right here looked fantastic." (Instead of "pitch" ) It got a good laugh outta me and I went "Damn right it does!" 🤣🤣

Classic Mega Man and X are two different robots, and Zero did not kill X when Wily created him. So officially it's all a big mystery.
@@GamerThumbTV Yes that is true! Indeed possible. Looking forward for the other parts !!!
Fantastic video my dude! I love this as much as I love your Castlevania and Metroid videos! Here's some more Awesomeness from you man you know you got my attention❤❤❤
Thank you for watching. Much more coming!
oh hell yeah i'm all here for this serie
Thank you for being here!
I hope these videos get far enough to see Mega Man 8 and Mega Man & Bass. The storytelling is phenomenal.
@@maxbigg2996 Definitely, even gonna go through X and beyond
@@GamerThumbTV I wonder, for 9 and 10 will you also include the DLC stuff, like Fake Man and playable Bass?
After watching this Mega Man story you did and how well it was done, I'm waiting for part II and the rest to follow. I'm so glad I seen this video. I have subbed and gave you a like as well. Stay safe and very great job on this video.
Thank you very much and welcome to the channel. I have plenty more lore videos coming.
6:54 If Capcom were to choose one of the early names for him (Battle Kid, Mighty Kid, Knuckle Kid) then which one suits him better in your opinion ?
@@YassineTorchani-dc2cm Probably Battle Kid. Rainbow Man would not have aged well lol
Also the music in this video is amazing (that remix whenever u show Mega Man on top of the train for each chapter) I wish i knew where to find all these remixes/covers 😍
None of these were remixes, they're all actually from various Mega Man games. The one on the train is from Mega Man Powered Up. It's Wily Stage 1.
Mega Man is a great series!
MM2/MM3 are going to be AWESOME !
You did a fantastic job on this one. I didn't expect all the infro you had. Thank you fir this ❤ all that hard work you did
Thank you very much for watching
@@GamerThumbTV thank you for making that. I was shocked
YES I am excited for this one. Mega Man has been my bread and butter for the past 30+ years, and is one of the few series in which I'd consider myself a lore expert. I can't wait to pick apart your findings! (I kid)
I'm going DEEP!
@@GamerThumbTVdoes that mean you're going into the entirety of the mega Man franchise, including x?
@@elwafflejr3856 the beginning of the video explains the entire project.
@@elwafflejr3856 we don't leave stones unturned here!
In the Archie Comics the chip is put in when his battle armor is being made. In the games it's never explained when it was made. It's just there.
🌈The more you know🏳️🌈⭐
Went straight to the like button after your comment on MM1 box art.
Oh hell YEAH!! Inject this right into my eyeballs! Lol, im happy you included Pharaoh Man decking Mega Man from the ruby spears cartoon, easily my favorite bit. Also, Bad Box Art Roll has me down bad.....😂
You don't make a Mega Man video and NOT include the Pharaoh Man punch
Your timeline flow is exceptional in making sense. I recommend you to check out Academic Agent's Mario Definitive Timeline
One day I'll tackle Mario....and you bet I'll incorporate the live action movie somehow lmao
Honestly all long running games need u
This is great but, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and get on that Metal Gear Timeline series!
Yes the Megaman timeline explained thank you
Enjoy
The Mega Man series is outstanding generally. The first Mega Man X game is actually my favorite video game of all time.
@@GamerThumbTV
I guess my favorite is MM2.
It’s the most well balanced.
X7 and X8 aren’t bad either.
Looking forward to it
I think there isn't a video game series more diverse than resident evil. Always trying to something better or different.
OH didnt expect this timeline at all
Even though it's cancelled, will you be doing legends mega man
This video will explain all of that near the beginning
37:57 Give it a few centuries for this statement to be true. (Cough! X era! Cough!)
The Archie _Mega Man_ books were fantastic.
Very well done, especially when tackling the original NES games that barely have story in them.
With so many games, this could take years to finish. Get comfy people, this is going to be good. On a side note, while Capcom may say Legends takes place AFTER X and other series, I always considered it its own continuity.
Hey at least this channel will never run out of content and I always thought Legends being its own thing made more sense. But Capcom is clear about its placement.
you do an awesome job on this that I was wondering if you could to SONIC THE HEDGEHOG timeline next someday
@@kodysharp-vd8bs No immediate plans for it but perhaps one day that might be a fun project
Quick question: where did those MegaMan 1 cutscenes come from? The ones that are just PNG's of the bosses with the voice acting?
I made those, edited in. I created the images from the Archie Comics, the voices are from the PSP remake, and the game footage was just the NES game.
@@GamerThumbTV Oh wow! You did a great job man!
@@OmegaJagerFabian, I'd dare say, is the grand genius of Gaming Lore content 😊
@@GamerThumbTV
DLN-000, sharing the same production line as all other robot master type robots.
Ayo anyone catch Detective Gumshoe from Ace Attorney in one of the panels when Wily was being transferred to another prison?
They very much reference Phoenix Wright in the Archie Comics too.
yes!!!!!!it is finally here!!!!
Gonna be honest...Dr. Wily was kind of on to something with his whole "let's not give these things sentient thought, we're making tools not life forms" thing.
He definitely had a point.. until he started using them to blow things up and attack people lol
what is the screen at 9:58 from
That's from Roll's story in Marvel vs Capcom.
@@GamerThumbTVthanks
OH another question
what are your plans for megaman 4 5 and 6 as you wont have the comics to fall back on to expand those stories
and classic megaman did not really get much plot till 7
so will those just be brieft bits
@@ladyaceina There's actually some manga material that works well there , but mostly I'll figure it out when I get to them
@@GamerThumbTV hahaha fair enough i always enjoy your timeline videos and how you tie in out side material to fill things in
1:02:13 uh, TV, maybe you should have gotten a different voice clip for this part where Wily actually loses in Powered Up, it sort of clashes with the scene in screen.
@@GamerThumbTV if you say so I guess, I still don't think it fits the moments with said footage of the battle you are showing for the video.
holy boi i cant wait to see X saga
Always been my favorite.
is there gonna be more parts to this one? its my favorite game franchise. n id love if you can use the battle network series too
@@ashtonclarke371 there's gonna be a ton more. I'll be making parts 4 and 5 back to back
Can someone PLEASE tell me what the name of the animated Mega Man series shown in the opening and the scene with Roll was from? 😍 I only know of the American 90s show and the Japanese one where Mega Man leaves the television, but that isnt what was shown here 😱
Sadly, it doesn't exist as a show. That was the pitch for the American animated series that didn't get picked up. Instead they "Americanized" it by aging up Mega Man and making him muscular. The later animated segments with Roll waking up is from the Japan exclusive interactive game, Super Adventure Rockman.
@@GamerThumbTVAwe man! What a bummer, that show looked amazing! Also, I thought in the video you said "This bitch right here looked fantastic." (Instead of "pitch" ) It got a good laugh outta me and I went "Damn right it does!" 🤣🤣
Popped off so hard when I saw this in my notifications.
OMG, the voices in that Mega Man cartoon lol
Horribly epic lmao
I can't watch Ruby Spears Mega Man clips without thinking about Cheetor and Beast Wars instead
