Mela...I hope you're feeling as great as you look! So happy that you guys were smart enough to educate yourself on what makes that big bus tick...but we shouldn't expect any less from two thorough, smart people! Your mechanic seemed super knowledgeable & THAT alone I'm sure brought you guys great comfort. You're getting closer & closer. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE DAY WHEN YOU GUYS GET TO DO YOUR FINAL WALK THROUGH TOUR! Continued prayers for you Mela as you continue to heal & also for Don as he cares for you while chipping away at the bus build.
A good mechanic with lot's of experience is well worth knowing, it was so good to hear some of his comments about your bus, then you had help with the pipework and you got there after a little leak, and to top it off you had all the steel you need to be donated to you, you are right it is very good to have friends to help
As a retired Greyhound driver from Canada let me tell you as long as your tires are good driving in the winter is not that bad I have driven in blizzard conditions stay on main hwy that are as clear as possible leave plenty of room from the vehicle in front. You can always pull off into a truck stop.
Glad you found a reliable mechanic. That will give you piece of mind. Can't wait for you to hit the road. Go and stretch those tires. Happy travels. Regards
My deadline is the end of this month and we have no plan B. You two are much further along then we are, so it depends on your comfort level when you decide it's "livable". You really won't ever be done with your conversion. There will always be some tweaking that needs done. Best of luck to you, both!! I hope you get it done enough for you to be comfortable living in your new home before winter hits!! 😁
Don and Mela I am glad to see you were able to get a mechanic out to service the bus . That will surely come in handy when you guys are on the road . I also love see the progress you make with other parts of bus .Don I know you wanted to be ready to go by Christmas .it is always good to have a plan B . Good video guys ..... Keep up the good work
Excellent move !! Now you know a lot more (but still more to go) Sounds like you have a really good mechanic ! Bad mechanics make bus ownership VERY painful. Good luck !!!
This was super interesting! So glad you had the skills and advice of a trusted mechanic....quite a few of the peeps i've seen don't seem to cover this but then have a lot of breakdown situation vids 🤔😳!! I have no need for steel (though maybe the medical grade stuff will come later!) but that would be an amazing day out 😊👋
So good to see you recovering well Mela, myself I'm still waiting on results of the 2 polyps I had removed, and even worse my mother has just been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and has been given around 12 weeks to live, to say my head is completely screwed is an understatement, love to yourself and Don
@@Rehabit8 thank you both for your kind words, sadly mum has gone down hill faster than the Dr's said, so I've got to drop everything to go to her bedside first thing in the morning (UK time), love to you both xx

Brazing coolant pipes can again lead to leakage due to bus vibrations. What you showed before and most common is to screw the tubes in with a piece of rubber tube.
Hey Dave - when we bought the bus 2 years ago it was in pretty great shape and had been owned by a tour company that gave it daily/weekly maintenance. We thought it was well looked after (as we have about 500 pages of records from service from day one but didn’t realize we had new brake on both back axles!
Hi Tim, the bud original AC would have been one of the most expensive maintenance costs each year. We will have 2 mini splits and a back up diesel heater so the bud/house heating and cooling should be easy to maintained by ourselves now :)
I see you can have your cat on a leash you should take off the lease if it's in the woods running or in the yard by itself so it doesn't hang itself jumping from anywhere. My dog hung herself when I let her run in the woods like that and I didn't see it I found her dead.
Respect to the bus mechanic, he's a real one. He was super professional and helpful
I love your Bus, and your Channel. Don, Ty To Your Parents, For Being there for Both of you 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🥰😘😍
Thanks so much

Smart ot go through the engine, cooling, braking, and steering system. Otherwise, you could end up with a restored "Park Model".
Such a great episode! Very inspiring. Excellent music too!
Thank you!

lots of rv'ers showing up at Quartzite Az. for the winter

Awesome video - thanks for sharing your journey 👍🇺🇸
If you don't get finished in time shoot for spring.

Best money you could have spent getting the mechanic. So many buses you see hit the road THEN discover what they should have known beforehand.

What did all this work cost you?? Parts?? Any labor???
Brazing coolant pipes can again lead to leakage due to bus vibrations.
What you showed before and most common is to screw the tubes in with a piece of rubber tube.
Did you guys have all that work done before or was it done before you bought the bus??? Like the brakes, lubing, etc???

@@Rehabit8 nice that they did that then. That was always something I'd worry about if I were to buy a bus. The actual condition of it.

Hey Mel & Don, my wife and I live in Northern Illinois and we own a 1996 MCI 102D3 rv. We would love to connect.
Email us through our website or message through Instagram :)
What motor/trans combo?
Detroit diesel allison transmission
That’s my dad joe
So basically. Now I need Joe, Jerry and dude's dad to build out my bus.
ha ha!
Will Mela be getting a co-pilot seat???
I recommend just order a davco 382, instead of using the spin on filters.
Hey B I have never heard of that but will look into it thanks for the info!
So, can we all go to Joe and stay with your dad? Lol
Just kidding.
Didn't you just fill that bus with all fluids. And now you removed gallons and gallons out
Different fluids my dear ….we didn’t drain anything the mechanic put in like oil
I think you be sorry taking out the a/c and heating ...

Oh that's terrible, sorry Jill. Our cats are never alone outside, we are always watching them when we let their leashes go.
