Can I give you some advice on the mini splits. One needs to keep the condensate drain free from debris and bugs. Make sure you have access to the open end of that drain line so you can clean it out before you turn on the unit for AC in the summer months. I have an issue here in Crete where spiders love to crawl up the hose and build nests in there. This will cause a backup of water into your living space. Not only spiders will clog the line but dust that is not trapped by the filters can make its way down the drain and cause a clog as well. Keep your filters very clean. Off season from cooling I use a cap plug to cover the drain line to prevent bug issues. Before starting I will uncap the line nd run a nylon electricians snake up the line then finish off with a vacume hose connected to the line to suck out anything that may have accumulated in the line.
Thanks for the advice Subgunman! We will keep an eye on it and maybe see about a simple mesh cover for the end. p.S. we love Crete and hope to return again some day ❤️
Greetings from Brisbane, Australia where we're still getting days of 80-85F, even though there's flooding rains for the past couple of days. I've never seen a snow leopard before!! Want to know a secret way to scribe a curved surface? I use a 3"-4" diameter plastic wheel and poke a pencil through the centre. Works great, but shhh! Don't tell anybody. Loving your videos as always. Take care out there!
Again..yall are awesome..super inspiring and best wishes ..godspeed...( I am happy to be 1 of your likes and thumbs up and get so tickled at the 27 jeleous lol...I now know our goal is to be just as awesome as you all are and goal is to get more jealous thumbs down than you have. 😀 Great job! Your biggest fans, Chanda and Jeff
Look into boat builds when it comes to space an nifty lil tricks for space an keeping stuff in it's place, also look into boat kitchens! Lottsa great innovative ways to do stuff... Translates well to RV ie;Schoolie life! So far lookin great guy's!
So super excited to see the livable space start to come together. Even though it one of many small pieces, keep enjoying the process and celebrate the small victories in completed projects along the way.
I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet, or that you didn't read it the manual or something. The bus has an airbag suspension system that auto-levels the chassis. Turn your bus on and let the pressure build to max. Once it does, the bags will be inflated and your bus will be as level as it can be. There will be some deviation depending on your reference, but it should be closer than current.
I’m loving following your bus/motor home build, your doing a great job. I didn’t convert my camper van, but I’m making it mine by making little changes to it. I bought it but you just can’t beat the freedom it gives you to go anywhere.
Yay, Back at kickin ass! Hope the vaca helped y’all out. Maybe you could just build a small cabinet shoe box your selves for the shoes... could probably buy a cheap something also🤷🏻♂️. For the trim you could also buy 2x2 (not the hobby wood, the nicer 2x2’s) and cut a 3/4” corner out with your table saw. Would basically look just like the aluminum youre using. Keep up the good work!
Have you thought about using dowel rods to maje your shoe racks, you run then from one side to the other, using 2 rods per row, you can put the shoe heel either towards the back of the closet or front
If you put the stain on and then wipe it off with a rag when its still wet most likely you will get the color you desire just a little tip Take care and god bless
Thanks Dawn. Yes, correct however this was a stain and finish in one and it recommended you paint it on. We actually love the way it came out and made for less work and less time using an all in one.
We love little wood burning stoves but it didn't seem practical with our design and a few other reasons. If we were to choose to stay somewhere very cold for an extended period, definitely would make it work though. Those things really heat a space up! But we have plans to stay in a warmer climate.....so the diesel heater is more a back up.
Can I ask about your closet space? I know you said you've gone minimalist, but I also remember you saying in an earlier video that you both like to dress up and go out to parties and events. How will you hang dresses and long coats in that closet? Every single van/coach/bus/tiny house builder I've seen who has put a rail in their wardrobe has had a shelf under the rail, so that only short things like shirts, jackets and skirts can hang freely. No-one who lives in these homes seems to own dresses? I also love to go out to events (both as a punter and as a performer). I own *loads* of full length dresses and coats. I absolutely can and will minimalise when I move onto my own coach, as I did when I moved onto my 65ft narrow-boat over 15 years ago. But even in the boat I had a full height 6ft long rail to store my hanging clothes on. And in the house I now live in, hubby and I share a 5ft rail.
Well, sounds like you should definitely go full length then! In a former life in the big city we went to many “fancy” events, but while I look forward to getting out of bus work clothes our lives will be more about the outdoors. I will have some dresses, but there were so many other things we prioritized for our layout that I’m ok with folding a long dress over a hanger. You have to figure out where you are willing to compromise and where you are not 😃
Love it. Regarding shoes.. i suggest to put it by the entrance of your bus instead for faster and easier storage and no need to drag dirty shoes all over inside your place. I swear i never get why some people store their shoes in their closet.. it will stink and germs will crawl all over your clean clothes or carpet 😝. Just stall a full mirror close the entrance door so you can see if your shoes matches your outfit. I am a germaphobe and that’s just my take on it. 😉
Always good to see the bloopers! Looking forward to the progress in each episode👍 Is it just my elderly ear'oles or does Mela have an aussie (other countries are available) twang to her accent?🤔😊
You may have already thought about this but what kind of human would I be if I didn't ask. Is the bus level where it is? If it's not and you use a level on the walls inside, it may not be very accurate. Like I said, this may have already been addressed. Love your story guys. Thoroughly enjoying watching your progress.
I’m at the part where y’all are talking about the floor not being level. Why didn’t you level the floor first, so you wouldn’t have to guess/shim everything else? This my second episode, so you may have addressed it elsewhere. I have to say, I love y’all’s energy and you both appear to really love each other. 🥰
I’m writing because I’m concerned if you have a Murphy bed folding to the side of the vehicle do you not think the weight ratio of the bus might be impacted when driving. If the bed was on the back wall, this would evenly distribute the weight of the bed in all circumstances. This is not a criticism I was just wondering what you thought.
Hi Ann. We are not worried about the bed or interior furniture for weight distribution. The reason being that we will offset/balance any of that with placement of utilities in the luggage bays (water tanks, batteries, tools, generator etc) These busses can easily carry huge amounts of weight.
nope, would just be awkward to open. Maybe a curtain but we'll see further down the line if we need it. I love the look the look of it and the baskets keep everything hidden
Looking so beautiful.
love the Closet
Thank you!
I just wanted to let you both know you're a huge inspiration and we made the plunge and bought our bus yesterday! I can't wait to get started on it.
Yay! Congrats Lisa! And thanks for sharing
My husband and I are about to do the same thing. Any regrets, would you have chosen anything differently?
Looks great

Hi Chanda and Jeff! Love it....jealous thumbs down😂
If you used 3/4" plywood you could eliminate those 1x2 supports for your shelves and it would look so much better.

very good perfect👍
Tension rods are used for hanging shoes
Looks great!
I don't think shirts are going to fit in the hanging closet. They do make shorter hangers that might fit.
We actually measured so it will fit!
Just subscribed and I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys do next!!
How about pictures of your build along the upper part of your wall to ceiling transition?
Oh well that was so freaking awesome ❤ So interesting. Thanks and oh boy :))

Молодцы!!!, всё классно у вас получается удачи в постройке.👍
Looks good. Check out Crate and Barrel or IKEA for shoe storage solutions. Looking good so far.
That’s a really good idea! Most Ikea furniture is slimmer than most, and every inch would count, on a bus.
super
Thank you Denuma
Question why didn’t you caulk all the seems and the nail and screw holes and then paint? Does that come later ?
awesome videos!!! what program are you using for the layout?
Parabéns!!!
Go with heat pumps when you get roof air. What about aqua hot for heating ? Is it out of the budget ? Or to complicated
did you guy put in a back up camera & one that just stays on while driving?
What's going in that space behind the mini split??? That's alot of space to not use (except for wiring).
we have some ideas😉BUT if not every space is optimized it's okay. It's a big bus.
At the basket bottoms!!! Too bad they aren't more open there.
Opps wrong conversation - talking about the baskets not behind the mini split.
How many adverts do you want to put in?
Maybe I missed the explanation but if you’re mini split goes in your closet space where are you’re Freon lines going to run to get to the compressor?
Hi Texan We will be mounting the outside unit for the mini split in a cage next to the engine (where the factory toilet black tank used to be)
👍крутой дом получится, молодцы !
What about a log burner
Log burners are messy and you have to carry extra wood. Not great idea, in my opinion, for small areas.
We love little wood burning stoves but it didn't seem practical with our design and a few other reasons. Sanding is so tedious but so damn necessary!!!!
Aren't you supposed to wipe stain off????
Yes, what we used however is a stain and finish in one and the can recommended you use a paintbrush. Worked great for this effect!
Does look nice in contrast.
Love it. Regarding shoes.. i suggest to put it by the entrance of your bus instead for faster and easier storage and no need to drag dirty shoes all over inside your place. We will have some shoe storage in the front, but it's not enough space for all our shoes. lol.....we like shoes. we all have our quirks
@@Rehabit8 for sure. 😉👍🏼
How deep are your closet shelves???
I can't remember....I'd have to go measure again! But it is pretty deep, more at the top than the bottom as the back wall is slanted at an angle
Always good to see the bloopers! Looking forward to the progress in each episode👍
Is it just my elderly ear'oles or does Mela have an aussie (other countries are available) twang to her accent?🤔😊
South African😉
@@Rehabit8 oh I do beg your puddin' my geography is obviously as bad as my hearing! 🙄🥴😁
@@olbird7647 my first guess was Aussie too 🤣 I’ve never been good at guessing accents !

Guess I should've watched the rest of the video lol. I would've forgotten by the end :I
:) thanks for trying to help D. Its an adjustment for everything building non-level with no true 90 degree angles :)
If you go to the Warehouse you can buy a good quality shoe rack
I’m at the part where y’all are talking about the floor not being level. Why didn’t you level the floor first, so you wouldn’t have to guess/shim everything else? This my second episode, so you may have addressed it elsewhere.

@@Rehabit8 that’s really good to know, and now that you said that, I’m having a kinda “duh” moment. Makes logical sense. It is beautiful!!!
Your channe name would make a great business name if you guys ever decided to this as a business. Lock it in.
Finally another video lol.

Podrían poner en español por favor
Check IKEA "BISSA" and "HEMNES" for an idea (DIY) how you can solve the shoe issue
So much wasted space in between those baskets. What's your plan for that???
Not really those baskets are as close as possible
I think Shirley's means if the basket base was square you could use all the space.
First... Yay.
