I agree SO much! I find it so annoying when the intro is more than a minute or two long. If it takes you longer than that to say what you’re going to teach me, I am too frustrated to learn from you.
This is genuinely the most helpful video on darts I’ve seen. The issue I see is that many extremely experienced sewists talk as if we know what they’re talking about. You speak like you’re teaching a complete beginner, and I’m so grateful!

61 year old male who has just developed a love for sewing. I've made myself a few shirts, and am working on a dress for my wife. I notice that you like to serge your fabric pieces. Doesn't this present a challenge when attaching sleeves, or other curved pieces?
Serging keeps the edges of the fabric from fraying & makes it easier to sew.

What chalk are you using? Or which one do you recommend?

Do you mean contoured darts? They are for a more tailored fitted look. They are great. Especially for the bust. They just take a bit of practice to get use to.

To iron the darts towards center back or center front?
Hey Anastasia, Can you please explain grading thing on a basic bodice block which has a dart. It's so so so confusing. I spend my so much time on researching on sizing and grading but, still could not figure it out. Like how to distribute measurements for a grading pattern, how much and all those things. hhh ~ Can you please help?

How can I de-bulk the inside of the dart? As in the little fabric flap that you ironed down, if I want to cut that flap off, how do I nicely finish it?
You can serger it or zig zag it.
Is there a rule of thumb as to where to iron or position the intake? When do I iron towards the bottom? Center front? Center back?
Front of the garment center front , bank of the garment center back. Horizontal darts are down

They come in all different lengths and widths.
The excess fabric from the dart on the wrong side of the fabric, do people traditionally trim off the triangle or just iron it to one side?

Iron away from the seams? At my sewing class they said towards the seam. What happens to the garment if you iron in the wrong direction?
I am sorry to say your teacher did not tell you the correct thing unless it was pattern drafter to be that way for some reason. Garments are always pattern drafted towards center back or center front or down. What where you making?
Do you just leave that flap of fabric like that, then? Just hanging out on the inside of the dress (or whatever it is you're sewing)?
