I still am amazed that people are running vehicles other than toyota at this point. When you couple the aftermarket support with the exceptional quality and ruggedness, you can't go wrong. This is one beautiful FJ.
so,you know nothing about mechanical objects, obviously.nissan is a better buy.toyotas have wierd problems, great fit & finish, but, expensive, gutless, only toyota to buy is the 80 series, first of 100 series, period.rest are crap.
Ive just picked up a 2013 orange clay, literally had it for about 3 days & we love it so much, just wish i'd picked one up sooner, have watched this episode about 10 times for idea's, love your rear bar setup & the vehicle overall, great quality gear & sound advice
I once went with an Aboriginal elder to land owned by his people. Huge property that looked out over mountains and was filled with craggy rocks and sloping muddy tracks. He had a FJ and it just ate up the rocks and tracks. You've got a great build there.
I just got my fj Cruiser 4 Months ago it’s a 2007 silver white top it came with a 2 inch lift with NItto tires and thanks for responding back much love from Oakland California
Great to see an Irish man on here at last, I could just see that yoke heading up the Nenagh by-pass or on the beach at Tramore. Seriously though, smashing vehicle
Awesome. I have a red 2012 FJ ,the TTSE and built but I used Walker-Evans suspension and BFG KM2 tires. Your build is really neat and tidy. Great work. I like the FJ a lot, only negative is rear view capability, but what's past is gone! as I used to say when I rode motorcycles. Thanks for that video guys.
The dream build for me. Simple, compact and functional! Love the 33” tires. I think it’s the perfect size for the FJ. Looking forward to having BP51’s of my own. I heard good reviews about them.
This guy is a very smart fella. Very well thought out vehicle. I run a lot of the same gear in my 100. Thanks Ronny, awesome review. That rig with a James Boroud RTT would be perfect
Thanks mate! Its had gtechniq crystal serum applied. You can see it at work at 8-9 seconds in the muddy water drops straight off :) Im not afraid of getting dirty when washing it after a trip either.
Shaun lynch you have an awesome rig. I was wondering if you could send me the link to where you got your awning as well as your rear bumper set up. I would love to have a similar set up as yours
@@lynchshaun Hi Shaun, nice FJ man! Can you let me know where you found these folded chairs? Been trying to find something alike but most chairs are just bulky and clunky (unless you go for the most uncomfy of collapsible fold chairs...). Got a 2011 white like yours but apart from rocksliders and undercarriage armour (and some blacking out here and there) not too many mods (yet!). Will keep an eye out for ya - WA is a small place after all haha
Great video and some good detail. Shaun, FYI, the rear upright seats are actually quite easy to remove. The trick is to first remove the covers on the back of the rear seats and then, working from the boot space at the back of the seats, undo the (easy accessible!) bolts on the sides and middle bracket of the rear seats. It will take about 10 minutes to remove the seats - seriously!
It was applied shortly before this was shot. It’s been on 4 months now. Has a 9 year warranty and needs to be wet sanded to remove. Paint corrected and applied. It’s is awesome. You can see at 9 seconds the water beads off. Then when I’m doing the flex stuff it was after going through that puddle twice 👍🏻
Beautiful FJ mate! One thing id like to draw your awareness to is the front Al bash plate. Unless its creased gusseted for strength, if you take a big hit at the front it will potentially pull the front of your bar forward, and the tips can dent the front fender. I had something similar with 3 mm steel and an ARB bar. I now have a TJM bar ;-)
kestran thanks mate! It’s 4mm plate alloy that replaced 2-3mm steel. Hopefully I won’t have any issues but can defo see what you mean. Hopefully the alloy would rip through the bolts if I give it a real hard hit. I’ve fitted 2 more retainer bolts on the bar after digging a few holes with it made it rub badly on the fenders. TJM is a great choice of bar id love one!
Well done I bought a 13 auto with 90K mi. Have not done much yet to mine but your FJ has given me a lot to think about. They have a little National Park here in Texas called Big Bend and that’s my first adventure. I hope to do Ouray , Colorado sometime in the future. Wish mine had its kit like yours already. Enjoyed looking at your video hope to see more in the future.
Great review and awesome set up. I’ve got a 2016 FJ... French Vanilla :). Usually tow a camper, so storage space and water not quite as big an issue for me.... FJ came with the 159 ltr tank too. But you’ve still given me some great ideas for improvements. Much appreciated gents 👍. As always great video Ronny...
Such a beautiful machine. Toyota needs to bring back an updated modified fj cruiser. I think they would sell really well with how the market towards off road vehicles trims and models are so popular these days.
Another great walk around ,and timely my wife has a FJ Cruiser and we want to set it up for camping .We won't be able to do it up like this one but we got some great ideas . We did not know Kaymar has a rear bumper for the FJ must be very expensive looks killer.
Kaymar and Outback Accessories make very similar bars for the FJ. Outback is a few K cheaper. Getting the water out of the car makes a massive difference.
Great video! Love the tailgate table. I might have to put one of those on my Jeep! Ronnie, I love these videos checking out people's rigs. I get great ideas. My bank account doesn't love it so much, though!
When we travel I remove the sear bases and head rests, then drop the back flat. This gives me flat storage and access to the back floor area. I have a Pedders GVM upgrade. We tow a Jayco Penguin easily.
Nice job on communication radio and antenna. Very important to be able to communicate via several radio bands/frequencies. Upgrade to an HF amateur radio and get your license to operate it. You’ll then always be able to reach someone for help.
hobbiehobb hey mate! I have a PLB in the car if we ever get really stuck. There is HF here that you can get workout a license as far as I know but the PLB is enough 👍🏻 my missus knows how to operate it aswell 👌🏼
Shaun that is one tidy FJ Cruiser you have there, you certainly had my attention all through the review then you talked about Coral Bay and the whaling station and yes you have to cross dunes to get to it, but its well worth the trip
Rolly B hey mate! We made it up there this Christmas break! Was so easy! March last year the wind had been howling so walked the dunes and they all had shear faces. Erie spot but worth the trip 👍🏻👍🏻
Yep! its an amazing place! Hard to believe people lived there so many years ago! The stats on the number of Whales killed is crazy! Looked like we were the first up there in a long time as well.
Australian 4x4 Adventures yep, I wasn’t that keen on them when I was looking to upgrade my old fourby.... took one for a drive and that was it... I had to have one... and I love it 😍!!
GIRLS if this bloke is not married grab him, that's the cleanest well organized 4x4 i have ever seen and i bet his entire life is like that........................
Nice job! What size of ARB refrigerator / freezer are you using? What rollers are you using for the ARB frig and drawers are you using? Canada has adverse winter climate and salt is put on the roads. Will the ARB air pump survive the winter weather, sand and salt? (Mike)
Amazing were looking to buy an Fj and were here in the states. Prices have gone stupid. Looking at 2013 and 14 between 29,000 and 150k Prices from 26k - 50 k Depending on mods etc.
You did a great job building this rig..very well thought out! Mine is my daily driver so I can’t outfit it for overlanding like you did..maybe one day that’ll change. I really like that awning and rear bumper setup though. I think I missed it but who manufactures that awning? I’d like to get that for camping trips. Thanks for taking us on a tour of your rig, and thank-you Ronny for featuring it on your channel..I love my FJ, so it’s nice to see one that’s done right up like this.
What's funny is you can get removable steps for the factory sliders on these. I keep em on mine when I'm daily driving and then just unscrew them when I hit the trail.
Matthew Williams seen them but can’t walk up and down the car with them. Don’t need them to get in just to shuffle up and back when loading the roof rack. Plus the set I have are a lot stronger and you can use a high lift jack on them 👍🏻
Shaun I got a 2011 White FJ. If you ever get bored with your setup and want to redo everything I'd gladly take yours off your hand in a trade lol. Awesome setup all around. Only question I have is have you considered a roof top tent?
Hey mate! Dont think I will be changing any time soon...I hope! I considered a James Baroud and the Alu-Cab units but I think i would hate them. Being able to unpack the car and get set up properly is what i prefer. We have an RV4 for trips that are more than one night so we can get set up quite comfortably. A roof top tent means living out of the car which is ok for 1-2 nights if your staying in the same place, plus the lack of roof rack for boards and of course the mobility issue of having to pack up every time you want to move the car.
I still am amazed that people are running vehicles other than toyota at this point. When you couple the aftermarket support with the exceptional quality and ruggedness, you can't go wrong. This is one beautiful FJ.

Modified just went back to excellent, excellent owner, excellent questions, excellent knowledge, excellent thought. Bloody well done.
heavily modified FJ owner from the states here, cool to see the differences and ideas you guys have down under!!! awesome vid Ronny keep it up!
Some brilliant ideas for a compact off roader. Possibly the tidiest and best thought out so far on Modified!
Wow, one of the best mod videos you’ve done Ronnie. Congrats to Shaun for some really practical and thoughtful mods.
Ive just picked up a 2013 orange clay, literally had it for about 3 days & we love it so much, just wish i'd picked one up sooner, have watched this episode about 10 times for idea's, love your rear bar setup & the vehicle overall, great quality gear & sound advice

Loved it! Sick sick sick and clean. Best part… “what’s that?!” “…it’s my milk frother, for my coffee.” Like it’s nothing. 😂👌🤙. Dude gets down.

Haha cheers! Bettystown beach in my case 😂 it would certainly stand out at home!

I'm from South Africa, Front Runner makes realy innovative and well built gear! Greate job on the build man, really inspired.
The dream build for me. Simple, compact and functional!
Love the 33” tires. I think it’s the perfect size for the FJ.
Looking forward to having BP51’s of my own. I heard good reviews about them.
Nice to see an fj on here!
This guy is a very smart fella.
Very well thought out vehicle.
I run a lot of the same gear in my 100.
Thanks Ronny, awesome review.
That rig with a James Boroud RTT would be perfect
Bang hiv😇😇
The cleanest car in this series 👍🏼😄
Thanks mate! Its had gtechniq crystal serum applied. You can see it at work at 8-9 seconds in the muddy water drops straight off :) Im not afraid of getting dirty when washing it after a trip either.
Shaun lynch hey mate. If you ever want to catch up let me know. I would love to head out on a trip with u and get to know you and your fj
Hey Andrew, yeah for sure we will tee something up 👍🏻
Shaun lynch you have an awesome rig. I was wondering if you could send me the link to where you got your awning as well as your rear bumper set up. I would love to have a similar set up as yours

probably one of the most thought out vehicles ive seen
400k with 70l, damn was thersty. Love the build. Very clean and looks like it coud be a factory build. Congrats the owner
Great job, I never thought about the FJ as being a true off road vehicle.
Built t be a modern BJ40/FJ40. TRUE WEAPONS OFF-ROAD EVEN stock standard
One of my favorite rigs on modified so far, well done mate.

Extra points for how shiny that FJ is 👍
Gtechniq crystal serum 👍🏻 hydrophobic coating. It’s awesome stuff.
That explains the reflection Shaun! I’m very interested. How old is that treatment 👆 on your FJ?
It was applied shortly before this was shot. It’s been on 4 months now. Has a 9 year warranty and needs to be wet sanded to remove. Paint corrected and applied. It’s is awesome. You can see at 9 seconds the water beads off. Then when I’m doing the flex stuff it was after going through that puddle twice 👍🏻
@@lynchshaun nice car mate!
Hopping car still performing well.
@fromkenya
Jason Kanyora thanks mate 👌🏼 still running like a dream. Few changes since this was shot but only minor 👍🏻
Love the use of quality products at every point!
I like how this bloke new his vehicle very well and everything has a purpose. Well thought out. Awesome video!
Scary how much he thought about everything 😅 intimidating. I look forward to starting the process myself.
Love this video as an FJ owner, great detail and great build.
That white FJ is one PRETTY vehicle.
Really well modded FJ. Great work Shaun you’ve provided plenty inspiration! 👍

Did similar damage with an 96 surf and a 5mm alloy bashie

This is one of my dream machines, and you've done one hell of a terrific build on this one. Well done. I want it!
Great review and awesome set up. I’ve got a 2016 FJ... French Vanilla :). Usually tow a camper, so storage space and water not quite as big an issue for me.... FJ came with the 159 ltr tank too. Great build Sean. I have a 2015 white FJ. 80% same mods, but you have inspired me on the other 20%. I will be your Sydney double (from Galway)
Hey Brendan! Sweet, they are an awesome rig. Might get a few odd looks driving around Galway city if it ever made it back! 😂
Will be watching this again. Good work.
Such a beautiful machine. Toyota needs to bring back an updated modified fj cruiser. I think they would sell really well with how the market towards off road vehicles trims and models are so popular these days.
3 years later everything you said is still correct😊
Awesome build ! Plenty of ideas for my FJ Ronnie thanks Mate !
Great set up mate, I would be happy with half of the gear !Cheers from Canada.Fj 2013 Black.
AWESOME SET UP....ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN IN THE MODIFIED SERIES
Proper build that - unreal !! Great to see the Front Runner products getting some good props
Incredible beast
Greetings from Mexico 🤠🇲🇽

Best fj I’ve seen.
Fantastic job mate clean crisp and to the point looks good thanks Ronny safe travels
Great episode! Ripper bloke and extremely well thought out
Definitely a well thought out! Nice rig mate
Loved this modified FJ. Makes me want an FJ.
When we travel I remove the sear bases and head rests, then drop the back flat. This gives me flat storage and access to the back floor area. I have a Pedders GVM upgrade. We tow a Jayco Penguin easily.
That is a very slick rig!
FJ Cruisers looks mean with bullbars👌🏻
Rediscovered this vid!! sub'd. Keep posting more Fj please.
Love to see a purpose built FJ!
Just bought my FJ and this was a great video to work towards. Let you work all the kinks out first ;)

Yakima AceO'Spades paddle holder keeps your paddle, shovel or any other longitudinal gear at easy reach. And free up more space in your vehicle.

Yep! its an amazing place! Hard to believe people lived there so many years ago! The stats on the number of Whales killed is crazy! Looked like we were the first up there in a long time as well.
Great build. Lots of good ideas packed in a (relatively) small vehicle.
Awesome yes kaymar back bar is awesome
Nice job on this FJ build Shaun! Welcome to the FJ club Ronny.
Awesome build mate.
Another outstanding modified episode!!
Very helpful, and containing good wisdom!
super cool. should get the light bar
Very interesting and so well thought out. Very impressed!
This guy is spot on!
I’ve seen a few fairly modified FJ’s around and I still can’t jump on the “ I like them band wagon”.
Australian 4x4 Adventures yep, I wasn’t that keen on them when I was looking to upgrade my old fourby.... took one for a drive and that was it... I had to have one... and I love it 😍!!
Such a good set up.
Great Video!!! Love my FJ, and great advice on the long range fuel tank, just installed a replacement main tank on my FJ.
Great feature fellas. I like the drifta drawers love seeing fellow FJ owner off road drivers😜👍🏽
Thank you Ronnie I've been waiting for another FJ cruiser.
Yep there create a lot of buzz too as some many people own one. I will make sure to find one more within the next 10-20 Modifieds
Nice!! Can see there went some thought into that build
Dope ass FJ
GIRLS if this bloke is not married grab him, that's the cleanest well organized 4x4 i have ever seen and i bet his entire life is like that........................
Gah, explains why my truck is such a p.o.s
Mrstihlman411 is a great example of a good wingman.... lol
Good FJ Cruiser content

Nice car.
Would personally like too see some older cars in the modified series.. maybe older MK triton, Ford Courier or even an XJ Jeep would be sick
Great build, very inspiring, was hoping to see the Whipple supercharger kit since he had so much of the other US gear. ha ha then he mentions it !
Fantastic car Shaun :) and a great Modified Episode :)
Thanks mate
Hot FJ!! I got one man love it!!
I just watched JEC EPISODES and his gang punishing their FJ Cruisers. Savage.
Awsome build. Some great ideas. Thanks heaps
Super. nice work mate.
This guy has got money to blow
Well done!
Got to love the FJ 🔥🔥🔥🔥
