Great episode and its always good seeing the different 4wds and mods. Just to add some corrections though, the gvm upgrade gives you an extra 350kg not 50kg. The wait times vary depending on if you are in qld or any other state with wait times ranging from 6 months to 18 months. Un modded a jimny will roll at about 6.5-7 L/100km (which makes the 9ish L/100km pretty awesome for those tyres), Brown Davis also do a fuel tank that wont mess up your fuel gauge but it uses a separate tank and pump (just fyi). Mighty Overlander, good content and is an awesome little rig. I love the style of the 1 to 2 night get away with a minimalist mind set. I love both channels (and love the jimny!)

Love that the Jimny still has solid front and rear axles. That camp chair is huge and takes so much space! Would opt for the micro chairs, honestly they are more comfortable than traditional camp chairs anyways.

great video Ronny, I agree with the other comments of wishing they were sold in Canada and the USA again, when Suzuki first came to Canada looking for a dealer network i was with Volvo at the time and we got the first franchise rights for Manitoba and it was the mid 80's and people were sort of on the fence about them being small as they are until they test drove them in real conditions off road and our extreme winters here , lots of -30to -35 celsius temps plus windchill factors and lots of snowfall, they never failed to start in the most cold temps and with the manual choke they were easy to start, the heaters were good in them to and we did install block heaters in them and set up with local suppliers to offer optional accessories like insulation for the cabs, or sound deadening material under the rubber flooring from us and larger tire and wheel packages, we sold lots of them to hunters for the simple reason they could go into areas much easier than the domestic 4wd drives of the time at a 3rd of the cost, for our dealer ship we took a pickup model with the fold down sides and made it a tow vehicle and had a snow plow put on the front of it and it did a fantastic job and it did every thing we needed it to do and more even recovering some Volvos of the day and some embarrassed owners ,LOL, it was a great time and we almost became a Suzuki car dealer to except for Suzuki wanted a separate building which we already had and were in the final talks with the renovation company and before the ink dried on the contract with them Suzuki Canada announced a partnership with General Motors to build cars and 4 wheelers in a plant in Ontario Canada under both GM and Suzuki labels so we lost the franchise to another owner who ended up calling it Haber Suzuki , thats when things went in the crapper we had the only certified techs in the province to work on the vehicles and did not want to go to work for Haber who had a very bad reputation in car dealings sales and service it was a real shit show for buyers, bad work in the service dept and never stocking normal inventory parts, and always delays for the owners we still serviced lots of customers of his that were dissatisfied with the service, which gave the brand a very bad name, Suzuki went after him and was about to pull his franchise and had been intakes with our owners again until he said he'd invest in a newer bigger facility with qualified techs so he bought an old strip mall that was big enough for them , and Volvo Canada was not keen to be linked to a product line with a very bad reputation , I went to work for GM Canada a bit later and drove a Chevy Tracker and they are just a capable as a Samurai off road and more comfortable, quieter inside and met the current safety standards of the day which they had to , to be road legal in North America and still started at any temp that was very cold and had even better heaters than the previous models and road a bit better than the old 410's did, great times when you could buy one with a 5spd and A/C taxes in for $14000.00 and last 200kms before any major service, 👍

Great footage, Ronny! Great guest. I’ve had my Jimny for 8 months now and I agree with Tony, it is a small car. The benefit of it being small is you have to be minimalistic choosing what to bring and what not. Furthermore, it’s short wheelbase is beneficial both in the city as a daily driver as it is off-road. No it is not a highway vehicle. It was never meant to be. Up to 100km/h is OK, but after that it’s not a pleasant drive. Fuel range is a bit too short, but that’s easily sorted with a jerrycan on the rear ladder. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about it. It’s a heck of a good 4x4.
Great vehicle, you can't go wrong with Suzuki. I still have my stock-standard '96 Sierra, which after 23 years could easily go around Oz again. 👍👍 I'm guessing modified 100 is the 79!!?? 🙏
Fabulous video, I am sold, solid front, great fuel economy n no kids anymore, looks like a shrunken Jeep with better reliability. Just need to work on the 6th gear, the same as any small vehicle

@@MightyOverlander Yes, saw in in Auto Saloon Japan. Really a Mountain God. But I still wait for the five door version hopefully this year and see what the engine be. If it's the same engine, I will just opt for 3 doors instead.
@ronny when in NSW next would love to show you my JB75! Love my zook and everywhere you go someone has a great story to tell about them. The community is great, everyone gives the “Jimny Wave” whenever we cross paths! Always puts a smile on my face when ever I jump in 🙂
Ah man the second best 4wd on the planet. Tougher than any other 4x4 than the 70 series range. Tougher than your IFS heaps of dung rangers , hiluxs, navaras
Jimny will always be very capable vehicle that can get you anywhere you want it to go...the only problem with jimny is due to its small size, range will be your number one factor that will let you down
No issue with the 8-9 ltrs / 100km’s, biggest issue is their fuel tank being only 40 ltrs so you don’t get a lot of miles out of a full tank, especially if loaded up with heaps of accessories and weight .... my mate has a nice white example, one of the very first examples into Australia too and he loves it. But whenever we do a big day out on the tracks, fuel can be in the back of mind because whilst they don’t use a lot of fuel, they also don’t carry a lot 🤞 great clip Ronny and great little car too mate
Yes, see how this Suzuki Jimny performance turns out down the years - typical of Land Cruiser FJs recorded performance since 1970s, shall we call it "Superb"!
That was an awesome tour and having a 2017 Jimny wishing a 1.5 liter and 235s... Youre living my dream :) You know all about what youre talking about, very professional and very nice setup. I get about 10.5 km\l with MT 205\70\15, roof rack, rock sliders and under protection. I would like 1.2l turbo (or the 1.4 turbo :') ) with 6th gear on the next one. and a few inches to each side. Wouldnt kill anyone to have it just a little big bigger.
That’s some clever space management. I complaint sometimes about my Pajero Sport, I definitely have to organize my cargo in a better way after watching this video
Love the little Jimny. 100% would have been in one myself if Id been looking about 6 months earlier instead of right as the price took off for the moon. Interesting setup with the canopy-to-tent. I like the idea of them with a rooftop tent, but this way is definitely more practical than blowing away the roof load rating and fuel economy.
I have a JB23 (turbo 660cc) here in Japan (car tax, insurance, and rego is cheap for small car class vehicles). Its perfect for here because a Landcruiser is just too big for some normal streets. I have done some light 4WD but it seems to go up hills and narrow trails superbly even stock. Would love to have the new model, but the older ones are good too.
great video Ronny, yet again very well presented and I enjoyed the new car. I really liked the way Tony talked about his car as he obviously loves it and it was cool seeing his passion for it
Many thanks fom morocco for sharing this great video👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏I have the same jb74... But not modified.... Not easy to find all those materials here... What a pity 😱😱
Great car. Wrong tyres IMO. Having run a Suzuki on BFG's I found the car too light for the really strong sidewalls. Frequently had to run 9-10 on sand to get them to bag properly...which caused a couple of popped beads.
Yes, this, I just went back to HT tyres from BFG muddies, but was looking for AT that are not LT rated. Hard to find the sweet spot between light/flexible and off road grip in 215 75r15, especially with current global supply chain issues. Now I'm planning to get diff locks and a set of snow chains and keep running the fast and efficient HT tyres.
Need to sell them in the US. They would sell like hot cakes. We had to go old school Geo Tracker aka Suzuki Sidekick. 1995, bulletproof and the closest thing to it with an auto trans. Beast off road.
Be a great little off roader in the foothills of NC. Use to see alot of Suzuki samurai around but since Suzuki pulled out of the states we miss out on these little 4x4's.
A lot of my American friends are jealous of my jimny 😅 it’s a shame you guys don’t have them over there I bet you’d turn them into some serious rock crawls
All the little Suzuki's are great off-roaders since the 70s I had a 82 model it was good fun and a cheap way at the time to get into 4wding camping and I couldn't get the thing stuck if I tried was a very surprising little car
Thanks Ronny!! That’s the funniest episode ever.! At first I thought that the Jimmy was bigger than I realised then Ronny stepped into frame and I realised that ……ummmm yeah,,,,,,
Had a 1.3ltr Suzuki Sierra 20 years ago. Capable little 4x4. I know what means he about "havin another cog" on highways. Be flat out doin 90 kph and trucks doin 110 blow you over.
Nimble as phuck. Chur. Can't wait to get into NZ Southern Alps in the rebuilt MU! Feel better equipped after soaking up a heap of your advice, I'll shout you a beer when you come over the ditch for a tour. Stay frosty in strange times, keep that madmax rig ready to roll. OH WHAT A LOVELY DAY!!
Such a cool little truck. If it had a bit more power along with that 6th gear mentioned in the video it would really make it a perfect on/off road daily driver. I have a 100km daily commute over mountains that get snow in winter, I'd love a Jimny for that commute but it's just not built for going 100kph for a long time and especially not up hill.
As much as you would be hard pressed to find many people out there that love a Jimny as much as I do, I always tell people to be realistic about what this car is and what you intend to use it for. You’re 100% correct, once you throw a couple of mods on and a full load in the car it’s just not suited for the kind of driving you would have to do all the time in the hills. I’m glad you liked the video tho mate!
God i cant wait til i can afford to upgrade mine. Absolute animal off the road dead stock, gonna get up to some serious shenanigans after i get the kit i want
In my opinion, the Suzuki All Grip system is a point of improvement. Meaning, it isn't bad - But it's engaging is too slow/too late in my opinion. - Mening a true diff-locker is the better option compared to the Suzuki AllGrip system. Weather its the expensive ones from ARB or the mechanical ones from Kaiser. (I will order the rear Kaiser one at the end of July & the front one in December.) With these two diff lockers installed she will become a mountain beast.
I'm always amazed at how concerned Australia is with GVM and safety regs. Unless you run a big truck or semi tractor trailer, regs in the states are pretty much nothing.
Awesome episode, gave me some great extra ideas for my own little 4WD rebuild. Love the little cars and their compact wheel base for getting off-road. I picked up a '94 Feroza II that I've been slowly restoring and modifying, I have minimal budget so new and/or big cars are ruled out. $1k upfront and about $3k in replacement parts and accessories including a compact RTT and I'm already enjoying getting waay off the track in it. Probably another $5-6k to go to finish it off to my goals.

A lot of my American friends are jealous of my jimny 😅 it’s a shame you guys don’t have them over there I bet you’d turn them into some serious rock crawls
Awesome, love the Jimnys! Good job! 👍
Great build out.
Love the b-roll
Awesome Intro :) Love the new Jimny!
I love the smaller touring setups. Being a LJ ( Wrangler TJ- Unlimited) owner…. I understand everything he says. Least we have power/ torque though.
People in the UK take the p!ss out of these little Jimny's but they are surprisingly good off road and make a great budget off roader
I've pulled a Nissan Navara out the mud with one and passed tractors stuck on snowy hills, they are brilliant.
@AGNÉZ Buny Girls look love if there's no modified Jimny we don't care.
At first I thought that the Jimmy was bigger than I realised then Ronny stepped into frame and I realised that ……ummmm yeah,,,,,,
I think the jimny is a great little vehicle & It's a pity that Suzuki didn't offer a diesel or even a 2lt petrol option.
that will make it heavier and lose the lightweight advantage.
What a great little vehicle
Had a 1.3ltr Suzuki Sierra 20 years ago.
Capable little 4x4. I know what means he about "havin another cog" on highways.
Be flat out doin 90 kph and trucks doin 110 blow you over.
Tough little tonka toy 👍👍👍👍👍
Great little rig
More capable better appointed then a land cruiser
As always tony the car is a rig when I saw her on the clean up she was very well setup keen to see how the new rear setup goes when it’s installed.
My man! Have to get out for a camp in winter!
@@MightyOverlander keen for some fires and rainy camping mate
9:07 lol I love the radio communication chapter 😂
Tiny man needs a tiny car, good work Frodo, love the colour =)
First time being short has paid off for me 😂
God i cant wait til i can afford to upgrade mine. Absolute animal off the road dead stock, gonna get up to some serious shenanigans after i get the kit i want
That’s an awesome build
Thanks! Still more to go
Great video! I wish we had these in the states
I am thinking of getting one for a solo international tour (perfect size for shipping container).
Found myself trying to swat away the flies too. 😆
Some people say front axle is weaker and do not reccomend a front locker...
I'm always amazed at how concerned Australia is with GVM and safety regs. Unless you run a big truck or semi tractor trailer, regs in the states are pretty much nothing.
Be grateful for that. In my country you can legally run only stock tires (195/80/15) and 2" lift!
Hey folks...greetings fron Costa Rica
Awesome episode, gave me some great extra ideas for my own little 4WD rebuild. Love the little cars and their compact wheel base for getting off-road.
I picked up a '94 Feroza II that I've been slowly restoring and modifying, I have minimal budget so new and/or big cars are ruled out. $1k upfront and about $3k in replacement parts and accessories including a compact RTT and I'm already enjoying getting waay off the track in it. Probably another $5-6k to go to finish it off to my goals.
