Nice job on the videos! Like many other commentators have noted, when playing videos of the trail, natural sounds, voices, etc., are better than music. Some of us use these as instructional videos and recon for when we will do this trail. Btw what size tires was the 4runner rolling on?

I didn't get any body damage on the Rubicon, so it wasn't beaten to a pulp at all. There were a couple minor incidents of body damage on other's vehicles, but nothing terrible.

Hey I did see the inside of your FJ cruiser while you we're driving it seems like you do care about the inside. So if yours is an 07 through 12 or 14 not exactly sure but you should get your seatbelt reinforced so it doesn't cause cracks . It's free cause it's a call back. Hi remember me. @@offroadhub.official The road to Christina lake is slow and rocky but fun. Beautiful up there - early in spring it is wet and muddy with lots of 2-3 foot deep water/mud holes to cross and several creek crossings .
Offroad Hub I bet. That trail looks super challenging. Mine is bone stock right now. I took her off roading once already. Did some pretty decent hill climbs and crawled a few rocks. She felt like a tank for being a stock vehicle, but I have no idea where her limitations end. Love the content! Thanks for the reply.
The Rubicon Trail has been more of a road in the past. During its historical use it was far smoother. Fill dirt and gravel have eroded away, rocks have moved, and we're left today with the 4x4 trail we know.

Welcome aboard! On 33's you'll be dragging a lot, make sure you have solid protection! With no lockers you'll struggle, have recovery points front and rear, and people willing to give you a tug now and then. Can you do it? Yes, but it won't be easy!
So you're saying there's a chance lol.....gotcha im definitely going to save up for 35s and lockers and bumpers before attempting. It would be nice to do it now but I'm patient. Thanks man. Keep putting out that great content.

Awesome video! Loved every minute. Don’t know how I missed this one. Great spotting and footage. We might go hit it this summer. Was the trail worth the trip? Those tire changes suck. Did you try seating it with a CO2 tank? I’ve got a DIY 10 lb CO2 tank and I seated my last popped bead with it. Worked out pretty good. Not sure if you have tried it before
Thanks for watching! The Rubicon is the most amazing trail, absolutely worth the trip!! There are also other great trails in Northern California worth checking out. As for tires, we actually had another flat earlier in the day, and we reseated that one with just an ARB dual cylinder air compressor. There was some reason we couldn't do that with the one in the video, I think maybe the sidewall was damaged. But yeah, do the Rubicon, you won't regret it!
@@Colorado4x4 3 days would be good, camp 2 nights on the trail. I was there in late July last year, I don't remember having any mosquitos. We took an entire day off the trail camped near Rubicon Springs on the river. It's beautiful and worth the time. Bring a way to filter water for drinking.

The 470 and the FJ are functionally almost identical, except the 470 comes with a V8.

Most have removed sway bars. I had my front sway bar on for this trip, rear removed.

This one came without a roof rack. It has the factory plugs and has never been a problem. 👍

A stock Jeep Rubicon would want a lift, and some real skids. A stock Rubicon "could do" the Rubicon, but it wouldn't be pretty.

Which one? They're both pretty built, with the fancier one being just a little more fancy with long travel front suspension and a diamond rear axle.
Debating on taking my 4Runner on 33s lifted with skids and sliders on the rubicon
Honestly I wouldn't want to do it with smaller than 35's. On 33's you'll be using your skids A LOT! Even on 35's there's a lot of sliding over rocks.
