Purchased this table. The Jasper long. After replacing the table surface, application of wood filler and rotary sanding working for about 6 hours, I was able to get the surface to just have some minor humps, versus the significant discrete edges sticking up. I had to add fasteners to the edges because the corners were warping. I still haven’t been able to straighten the legs after following the institutions they sent me. Very disappointed in this purchase.
As Someone in Anchorage who has been looking for Reviews on this table, Thank you so much! and Appreciate showing how it is shipped etc because I was just as curious on how any furniture like this would be shipped up here! thanks so much!
@@AkaAka_AkaAka While the estimate was much longer, I want to say it was about a week, MAYBE 10 days. I'm sure it it probably didn't hurt that we are only a couple of states away for shipping (Missouri to Minnesota).
@@dman13141314 They got me mind in under 7 days. From order to at my door. I wish I could post pictures cause I got it in the dark stain and it's gorgeous with the topper. And I'm just gonna say it was/is worth every cent we spent. I ended up going with the Large one with Topper 6 cup holder the side options and a single extra center piece my family & friends cant wait to come over and play.
Great video. I should be having mine delivered this week. I mainly got mine just because I've invested a lot of money on my games and I just think they need a proper surface so it doesn't slide or miniatures fall in the floor and also pick up my cards much easier and avoid damaging them. Thank you for this great video and sincere review!
@TCbH Have you had any problems with bumping the dining topper from underneath while getting up from the table? It looks like the topper hangs over the arm rest by a little bit, so was wondering how often it would get bumped upward and disturb the items on top of it.
Do you have an update? Do you like the smaller size or wish you had the bigger size? Did you get an extender at any point? And how did the cupholders work out for mugs? Thanks!
@@ackerman1008 great questions! Size is perfect for the space so that’s not a problem. I kind of wish I had gotten the lighter color but that’s mainly aesthetic. Structurally it’s held up well with lots of routine use and movement. The cupholders don’t work for mugs but Mrs. TCbH is actually in a construction class right now looking to make some cupholders that fit on the dovetails to support mugs. In the meantime my coffee mug for gaming is a 16oz hydroflask coffee thermos which works perfectly fine in the current cupholders.
Absolutely fantastic review!!! Question, where did you get your dark shelf to the right of you in the video? I've been looking for a set that matches the dark walnut table and fits board games well and yours looks so good!
Hey, thanks! The taller shelf is a really lovely shelf I got at Costco maybe 5 or 6 years ago and haven't seen it's like since. The shorter shelf closer to the camera is one of those 9-square shelves we got at Fred Meyer (also called Kroger some places in the US), but I imagine that's available most box stores or online.
Oh jeez, I wish I knew exacts but it’s been long enough I don’t recall. I imagine any hardware store would be able to hook you up if you bring in the screws provided and tell them the issue. Essentially mine needed to be same length and the same rounded head but a hair wider, and otherwise just good sturdy screws for interior carpentry.
Only one question and that's "How long was the lead time on your table?" Like between the date you ordered and when you recieved it how long did it take for you to get it.
Excellent - Do you use it to have dinner on as well, or is it mostly geared toward gaming? Always curious about how it stands up to the abuse of everyday / occasional use. Also....it being shipped to AK is a concern of mine - things don't exactly show up ship shape.
@@Eckstant shipping to Alaska was perfect for me, though I understand your concern. The table has almost daily use but largely as a game table, sometimes with toppers on, sometimes off. I have a small family so we have a small table in our kitchen that provides for most of our dining needs, but we have used this table for parties or family holidays and it works totally fine. Construction has held up as well as any table I’ve owned in the past, so far, though my cat has definitely put some shallow surface scratches in it that can be seen when looking at it at an angle, but he’s done that for virtually every other surface in my house, too.
I suppose it depends on the size of the males but yeah it’d fit but if I were doing almost exclusively 6 player games I’d probably go with the Jasper Long. The play surface on mine is 3x5 but overall dimensions are bigger than that. For the biggest of games the topper could be put on which makes it even bigger. For my purposes it’s perfect.
Great so far. I play on it almost every day and we’ve dined on it several times. I also have since gotten a couple different mats that I can swap out. Construction is still solid. My cat has definitely put some surface scratches in the topper wood by being a jackass, but they are the same very lightweight scratches you get on any wood surface, nothing deep.
@@TheCardboardHerald thanks so much for the reply! I appreciate both your video and these insights a lot. While dining/having the topper on , how easy is it to bump those out of place for someone who is clumsy(me) or just average people ?
@mitchslego6601 Good question! They are actually really well locked in from horizontal bumpage due to the rubber stoppers. The end pieces of the topper have rubber stoppers that butt right up to the corners of the table, which then also locks the center topper pieces in place. The way you take them out is to lift an end piece and slide it out once the stoppers are above the table lip. So no issues with potential sliding around. I suppose if someone got really rowdy they could vertically bump the topper up which might pop one out of place, but I don't think that's much of a concern. You got bigger concerns if people are being that wild around the dinner table anyway.

Hey, Alaska represent! Hope this helps you make a decision and feel free to hit me up if you decide to come down to Platypus Con next year.
We are going to have 5 color options soon. Aiming for beginning of 2023 for that offering. :)
Nice! I’ll definitely be looking out for that.
Kickstarter?
How's this coming along???
Any word on when the additional color options will be available?
I should say it's 5 options of colors of play mats and they are available now!
We got a Jasper Long a few months back and LOVE IT! An extremely great value - about as "affordable" as a discretionary and luxury item can get...
How long was the lead time between when you ordered and when it arrived at your door. If you don't mind me asking?

Nice detailed review, love your practical view on this.
Enjoy the new table, Jack! (and Mrs. tCbH, too!)
Congrats on FIVE years doing this! I think the reward absolutely fits the accomplishment 😊
I’m hoping to get one of these tables some day. Thanks for posting this review!

@TheCardboardHerald What game is that at 8:30 in video? Love your content and looking forward to getting one of these tables in the future.
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. At 8:30 is Kingdom Rush: Rift in Time, a cool cooperative tower defense game based on the mobile game.
I found it - Kingdom Rush.

How does the price you paid compare to a WyrmWood table of equivalent amount?
Excellent video, I just hope my husband doesnt find it, because he will be insisting about getting the table again.
It’d be perfect for the new house!

Where did you get those 3D tiles for Terraforming Mars at 19:47?
The publisher sells them separately but they were also part of the Terraforming Mars big box edition.

Just checked, 8 days after purchase it arrived at my door.
Thanks for the review! I was thinking about snagging one of these, too! How have you been liking it thus far?
Just played Arkham horror LCG on it tonight with our Frosthaven campaign setup underneath the toppers, so still loving it.

Perfect. Thank you so much for all the information. Calmed my qualm a bit about ordering one.
How big is the table you got? I'm worried that 3 x 5 is too small but your table looks big. Can the regular one actually fit 6 adult males around it?

Have been looking at this table very seriously...
It’s great! I’m sitting at it right as I type this.

What seating do you have?
They are 4 chairs and a bench that came with another dining room table set we had before the Jasper table.
How are all board game TH-camrs professional long talkers, haha?! Would make great politicians (filibusters).
Show us the table!!!... not you talking about the table!
Styrofoam is recyclable
My city will not take styrofoam
This is only technically true. There is a reason why most curbside programs don't accept it.
Way too much talking to the camera bro, just show off the table and it's functions with different games while doing a voice over.

Show the thing that you are reviewing more next time. Most of the shots of the table are up close. It’s mostly just you talking.
