So Elton was already cooking up another song during the recording of this TV show, eh? I did feel that it was a bit half baked though, which is probably why he got such a roasting for it.
@@stephenalanmoore7278 He was asked to do that by audience member Richard E. Grant as a demonstration of his composition skills. "I've heard you write your songs very quickly." It wasn't words Bernie had already written, Elton threw the melody together on the spot based on Grant's oven manual which is why it might seem 'half baked' as you pointed out, but I thought it was hilarious. "minor key, it was a bad oven." 😂

He was asked about having another number one single. He most certainly did but thru one of the most tragic things that ever happened to him. He was so happy here but that year held two huge personal losses that he never got over.
Thanks for sharing this.❤🙏 What an amazing show. I have been discovering TH-cam for two or three years. Now I can both see and hear music and artists that I loved already as a child, where Sir Elton John was one of these. My 13 year older brother introduced me to music as a 4-5 year old in an otherwise musicless home. When I was 12 -13 years old, he came with cassette tapes that he recorded from his records. Unfortunately, he died. His vinyl records were divided into three piles, one for me. I wish he could join now and see all the artists and bands we loved. 17:09 Seeing, that young Obi Wan Kenobi was chosen as well to wear one of Elton's costumes, makes me think that Elton should have put on something Star Wars style too in the early 80s. :D (Although, it is possible, that George Lucas wouldn't have been very pleased, considering He threatened to sue Queen, after Freddie's Darth Vader stunt)
Ozzy: What was the scariest thing that ever happened to you on stage? Elton: Well, I shit myself once Ozzy: Well we've all done that, we've all done that one dear Two of my favourite people alive today.
Interesting. This program format would be impossible today. Assembling that many famous people in one room for one show would cause HAVOC among agents, production companies, managers, lawyers, sponsors, film studios, clothing designers... resulting in breached contracts, lawsuits... And besides, no celebrity in 2022 would EVER settle for being one of a hundred others.
Thats exactly right! If it did happen, we would most likely see someone act out, you know, like the Will Smith episode, and everyone, everything would be focused around that.
At what point in 1997 did this take place? I mean was this before the deaths of Gianni Versace and Princess Diana? I ask because if I were fortunate enough to have been on this TV special, I would've used my graphic designing talents in Photoshop Elements to design a very special gift for Elton John. The gift would've been a design of the faces of Princess Diana, Ryan White, Gianni Versace, and Freddie Mercury, arranged in a 1-2-1 formation, exactly that of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody video formation. The faces would've have some graphically designed candles in the front so that the Photoshop creation itself could be called Candles in the Wind, named after both his famous song, and by how Diana, Ryan, Gianni, and Freddie lived their lives. I just would want to honor some very special people in Elton John's life that were sadly lost, and I know that Elton still misses dearly.
Elton has one of the best voices, the sound quality is great here. Not sure of his wig choice though. I thoroughly enjoyed this, fantastic. The Spice Girls couldn't really sing, apart from Mel B.
