  • Elton takes questions from an all-star audience, and performs some of his best known songs such as 'I'm Still Standing', 'Song For Guy', 'Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)', and 'Your Song'.
    He also composes a song with makeshift lyrics taken from an oven manual.

      So Elton was already cooking up another song during the recording of this TV show, eh? I did feel that it was a bit half baked though, which is probably why he got such a roasting for it.

    • @PaperbackWriter92
      @PaperbackWriter92 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@stephenalanmoore7278 He was asked to do that by audience member Richard E. Grant as a demonstration of his composition skills. "I've heard you write your songs very quickly." It wasn't words Bernie had already written, Elton threw the melody together on the spot based on Grant's oven manual which is why it might seem 'half baked' as you pointed out, but I thought it was hilarious. "minor key, it was a bad oven." 😂

    Thanks for sharing this.❤🙏 What an amazing show. I have been discovering TH-cam for two or three years. Now I can both see and hear music and artists that I loved already as a child, where Sir Elton John was one of these. My 13 year older brother introduced me to music as a 4-5 year old in an otherwise musicless home. When I was 12 -13 years old, he came with cassette tapes that he recorded from his records. Unfortunately, he died. His vinyl records were divided into three piles, one for me. I wish he could join now and see all the artists and bands we loved. To go to a concert via TH-cam and back in time. I love Sir Elton John! A compilation album with him was in the pile of records that I got.😍
    Thank you! ❤

    Elton John...le admiro porqué siempre estuvo en el lugar qué se le necesito. Estuvo en el tributo a " Freddy Mercury" y apoyándo a "George Michael" cuando paso por el mal trago de " la encerrona en el baño y se descubrió sú orientación sexual ", Elton John siempre le apoyo y se hicieron muy buenos amigos, también sintio mucho " la perdida de la princesa Diana de Gales y canto en sú funeral".. a mí me parece que es una persona buena y amigo de sus amigos y " eso eso más importante y lo único que me interesa de sú vida privada, de la música todos sabemos que era muy bueno en lo suyo". Nada mas. Gracias. Pily🐕❤️🙏🏼🎼🎷🎵🎶♾️😂🇪🇦 Madrid España 💫

    Interesting. This program format would be impossible today. Assembling that many famous people in one room for one show would cause HAVOC among agents, production companies, managers, lawyers, sponsors, film studios, clothing designers... resulting in breached contracts, lawsuits... And besides, no celebrity in 2022 would EVER settle for being one of a hundred others.

    At what point in 1997 did this take place? I mean was this before the deaths of Gianni Versace and Princess Diana? I ask because if I were fortunate enough to have been on this TV special, I would've used my graphic designing talents in Photoshop Elements to design a very special gift for Elton John. The gift would've been a design of the faces of Princess Diana, Ryan White, Gianni Versace, and Freddie Mercury, arranged in a 1-2-1 formation, exactly that of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody video formation. The faces would've have some graphically designed candles in the front so that the Photoshop creation itself could be called Candles in the Wind, named after both his famous song, and by how Diana, Ryan, Gianni, and Freddie lived their lives. I just would want to honor some very special people in Elton John's life that were sadly lost, and I know that Elton still misses dearly.
