Just listened to this concert all the way through again (after just seeing him live for his final GYBR tour performance in Pittsburgh, four days ago), and I must say, I totally agree - Elton and the band were in top form here, the sound quality was excellent, and the playlist was superb!! (Although I must also say that the farewell concert was outstanding!! My BFF and I, hard-core EJ fans since 1972, were thoroughly satisfied... and incredibly impressed - Elton is 75 now (20 years since this concert!!), and he still sounds, AND PLAYS, like the GOAT he is!!! Long Live Sir Elton!!! Thanks for all the incredible music and memories!!! 🌟🌟🌟💖💖💖😘🥰😍🤩

Elton John live in Australia is still one of the greatest live albums by anyone. Madman Across the Water is amazing. Even in 2018 listening to Rocket Man and that dedication during this broadcast brings a tear to my eye. Nothing but love to the families so impacted by 9/11.
I was there at that concert, the one two nights before that, the last one and one in Perth (not the one he had to cancel 😢) and even though he was suffering vocally he gave it everything he had and I reckon a few of the songs performed have never sounded better. Although I haven’t been to every concert that other artists/bands have performed I reckon you’d be hard pressed to find one that comes close to that tour.

Johnstone been with him since the beginning. So has the drummer here(Nigel Olsson) even though he has had periods away. Dee Murray(bass) was in the original band. He died about 10 years ago.

They are 30 years older and so am I. However, they all play their music just as good as they did in their younger days. Elton's voice may have changed however he is not 20 something anymore he is now 60 something and is still very good.

I was in Montréal in 2001 when this concert appeared on the television in my hotel room, and that was the first time I heard the song “Ballad Of The Boy In The Red Shoes”. I immediately liked it and thought it sounded like his songs from his heyday in the 1970s, and it was at that moment that I decided that I had to add the Songs From the West Coast album to my collection. I still think that album is one of the best by Elton John. After all these years , I immediately recognized this video when I saw it. Thank you for uploading it.

In that time I receive cable tv analog ( not digital) That night in L.A. there was a very heavy blizzard that lead to several technical difficulties at the first part of the show. Everyone saw a flashing transmition.. for a while , wich obviously ruined my record and That broadcast service obviously. That was at 9pm East time. Eventually at the reposition at 1am at the next day, we can see the 3 songs from the beginning without that technical difficulties. Just to realize that they replay and re recorder (internally) those songs that were broke up due to that bad wheather in order to get a proper clean register. I recordered 2 times In Uruguay.
