I was trying to duplicate this drum track at home and I realized that, after recording the drums, the pattern it was working so well, except for something on the background (like a continuous sub bass click, you can hear it all the song) that was keeping me away from replicating it in a exact way. Well, I don't know if anyone is going to investigate to this level this track, but I just put a delay on the Bass Drum on 8ths, being careful with the Dry/Wet mix and sounds exactly the same. Amazing drum track!
It actually is a standard patch from the DX7 called B.DRUM-SNARE from ROM 2B which plays an eighth note pattern. It is available on free DX7 emulation Dexed

@@AdrianDerBitschubser no real drums - 4 drum patterns overlayed from the Linn drum and then a small bit of DX-7 percussive sounds ( at 2.16 ) ( paul programmed some of the drum pattern )
@@mags14570 there are Original Stems floating around in the Internet and I'm still convinced that there real drums in the mix. And also I think that the base pattern is not a LinnDrum but a Roland TR-707.
I love that the pattern breathes with the song, like a live drummer. Definitely one of the best 80s songs recorded with a drum machine.
one of the best produced and programmed Pop Song ever. And we still can learn from it.
this is some of the dopest drum programming. damn!
I always loved when the beat changes tempo @1:06
its not a tempo change, its just a half time feel
It's not a temporary change, the snare just shifts from beat 2 and 4 to beat 3
you mean a beat breakdown
holy shit are those 3 different synth kicks haha goddamn
the complexity is not appreciated
GGBDK i agree
It sounds like one kick is playing eighth notes non-stop the entire song.
@@zakizdaman why not?
@@johnp82 these songs are bangers because all the work that goes into them, the work put in isnt directly appreciated

Yes there is a second kick-like pattern on the 8th notes. However, I believe it is a processed tom or snare sound rather than an actual kick.

@@localtrack1966 Interesting. I just got Dexed so will have a look.

Cool! 🥁❤
Do you hear the high sub bass drum ?
Was this done with the LM-1?
Hi - if you mean drum machine - it was Linn drums
Yes, I think so. But then also overdubbed with some real drums.

hey bro i can use this for a cover?
Hi, i think that you can
A bit late, but I'd assume you could as long as you don't monetize it.

so?
Strange recording, the BPM varies during the song. It can't be a drum machine, then it should be a fixed stabel BPM
Not necessarily. You can map out drum tempo along the length of the song in a drum machine...most songs speed up a little to give it an extra push
It’s common that drum machines from that time weren’t quite stable in terms of keeping the exact BPM like DAWs do today - a natural drift, so to say.
Linn drum was used for this song
How does the BPM vary? There are periods of "half time", but that is not exactly the same as changing the BPM.
Hi. What is the bpm of this track?
About 169.5 bpm.
Sorry no good;,,,,,
Snap chap sound where??
