    There is a variant of the Suzuki Carry called the Suzuki Carry Cargo that has a box instead of the flat bed, and would have been a lot less work to make into a camper. Another Brand of mini truck Daihatsu, has the Hijet Cargo truck. It has a great box with sliding doors on each side as well as a door in the rear and would make a great camper.

    • @CosyCottageCamper

      @csorgb05 You are correct it would be much less work with one of those options but I've chosen to build my own for a few reasons. I need the camper to be a slide on and off version. Otherwise, it's called a motorhome in Australia, and I would need to abide by a different set of road rule regulations. Also, aesthetically, I wanted a pitched roof cottage style, which I can achieve by building it to exactly the design I created. Plus, I like the challenge of building it.

    Man can I borrow Trent? Gonna be doing a smaller camper but with wood and foam cause welding aluminum is a nightmare. Congrats! Looks like its coming together well so far.

    • @CosyCottageCamper

      @Falcodrin I would have loved to use wood for my camper too. Would have been so much easier! It's just that I have an entire weight limit of 350kg on the kei truck so I thought I better go the lighter option seeing I want a fridge, toilet and mini oven haha. Good luck with your build!

    • @Falcodrin

      @@CosyCottageCamper do they enforce that limit in Australia? Here in the US no one really cares so people are putting like 500kgs on the back. The 350 was just the legal hauling limit in Japan not necessarily the trucks limit though exceeding it will probably cause a lot more wear.

    • @CosyCottageCamper

      True, and I'm not entirely sure on what weight we can legally use with the truck but I wanted to stick with what they had listed as the 350kg so not to overload it for tipping or just wear and tear on the engine. So fingers crossed I can make it as light as possible.

    Very cool concept, I am not so sure why you opted for aluminum over 2x2s though? You don't really need the strength if you add bracing. You're not going to be saving much weight if any.

    • @CosyCottageCamper

      @dreadred92 Good point! I probably could have used 2x2 but thought aluminium would be lighter and stronger when travelling the highways at higher speeds. It also was great to learn something new, so I kept at it and am so much better than when I first started. I love a challenge haha.

    I hope you never have to service your engine, change spark plugs, plug wires, ect. The base frame covers 2 of the bolts you need to remove to remove the engine service panel.

    • @CosyCottageCamper

      @csorgb05 Thanks for your comment. I am actually making the camper as a slide on and off version. Otherwise in Auatralia it will be classified as a motorhome requiring a different set of regulations. This also means servicing is easier and resale, too, as the car won't be altered in any way.

      You can actually drive these in many US states at the moment you just usually aren't allowed on highways and insurance companies really care about that since they have had plenty of these flip on the highways.
      Australia as far as I know has many more of these.

    • @CosyCottageCamper

      @Falcodrin I really hope my doesn't flip. We have highways up to 110kms per hour. I will need to take it easy once the camper is attached. With an engine only 660cc it's slow and steady wins the race.

      Thanks for your comment. I am honouring the Japanese classification which is the term 'light truck'. Because my channel is small, I am following the TH-cam recommendations by typing keywords for the Algorithm to promote my page which it's stating that 87% of my viewers find me from typing in the search 'Kei Truck'. Even though to me, an Australian, I know these to be Utes. I would be less visible using these terms. I hope that clears it up. Thanks for watching!
