Mike, don't even bother entertaining people that criticize what you are doing, these mini trucks are amazing and what you built is just as amazing. I'm sure you have learned from what you have built and if you did it again it would be even better. Love the videos! keep them coming!
You guys are actually LIVING not like some people that are just ALIVE. Please don’t change you guys’ attitude and kind personalities over a few folks that weren’t raised to keep quiet if they had nothing good to say/share/contribute. I actually finally purchased an Acty after seeing your videos. You guys are a positive inspiration/influence to many of us subscribers that in a way live vicariously through you guys and look forward to your videos every week. Please keep exploring and bringing us along on your adventures.
Mike, thanks for the video PSA on "Trash". Several of my friends are cops. I told them if i was ever a cop, I probably wouldn't give many traffic citations. But, I would nail people all day every day for littering. Here in Indiana, a littering ticket is big big money compared to a traffic ticket.....

Forget about all the negative comments, I think this is awesome. You have inspired me to create a camper like this for my mini truck. I really would like to see more on how you and your brother made them so I can get an idea how to make it like yours. The design would work perfectly for me. Thanks for the great content and sharing this creative use of mini trucks.
100% agree, I've got nothing but thanks for the enjoyable and educational videos you guys both put out there. Engineering, countryside, problem solving, even the occasional gas station burrito, all good 👍👍
These comments are ridiculous. I would kill to have your exact setup in my driveway right now. You've done a great job and you've given me inspiration for my own kei truck camper! As always thank you for the great content, it truly made my day better today!
I'm Japanese so grew up stairs these Kei trucks. I always wanted to see one converted to an RV camper lol. This is sweet guys! Thanks for shattering the adventure! I came upon your channel while researching mini trucks. I totally get the draw to these. Size, capability… I really appreciate the simplicity and ingenuity that went into the camper build, all you need, nothing you don’t and it didn’t limit the capabilities of the Suzuki! Well done. If I ever get my mini, I’ll be hitting you up for pointers on a camper build of my own!

One of the coolest mini truck camper videos I’ve come across. Those lil trucks can get through some tight tracks. Keep up the good work want to see more. Inspired to make something myself.
It's funny how these little trucks are treated as such a novelty or joke or whatever by so many folk but, having lived in Japan for many years, I can tell you these things are everywhere, and they are used for serious work by serious people, in the harshest conditions in Japan. They absolutely dominate the rural Japanese landscape to the exclusion of almost every other type of vehicle (and many roles within cities too). They are extremely well-thought out, designed and refined for getting into, up, and out of the narrowest, hilliest, rutted, winding little roads in heavy rain, snow etc. They are working vehicles used by working men and women. Thinking of them a toys could not be further from the truth. As a motorcyclist, I hear the same sort of ill-informed nonsense about their awesome two-wheeled equivalents, the Honda CT90, SuperCub and other little Japanese working bikes. Glad to see you using them in their intended environments with such respect, and gusto!
I got me a 4wd daihatsu Hijet recently runs great so far, I love your idea for the campers. Gonna build one later on after my first child gets here. Comments are comments. People that have KEI trucks I’d say would all agree that camper is a sick build.
As a Suzuki Carry owner myself, I absolutely love these videos. Don't pay any attention to the idiots posting negative comments. They still watched the video and helped your view count.

Good video. So true about not going higher with the campers. For those that don't know, this is a Temperent Rainforest. The heavy rainfall means shallow root system on the trees. That in turn means a higher number of fallen trees across the roads. Its just the hazzard we deal with on these trails The basalt formation of the area also means no true rock crawling. These are old overgrown logging roads. Finesse is better than power. Even my 96 subaru is a touch to wide for some trails. These trucks are perfect for this environment. Narrow, short, tight turning radius, light weight. I need one of these for myself.
I really considered getting a kei truck a lot of years ago, and wanted to do something like this. But now I'm lucky get to live vicariously through these videos.
I met an old guy back in the 80's in North Queensland living in a Daihatsu K Van with the high roof. He said he could do Cairns to Cape York and Back on the one tank of petrol, long range tanks fitted, and his living arrangements were basic but easily comfortable enough for him. Our seasons here are opposite to yours in that we get about 9 months of summer and only a brief 3 months of winter except in Tasmania., so ventilation, shade and mosquito protection is the way to go. I have had one of these things in mind as a retirement camper ever since meeting with that old guy way back when. Your setups look great and the possibilities and improvements are floating about in my mind as I type this. The truck bed looks like a winner and so many variations come to mind.
Why would someone hate a Suzuki? They are reliable, fun, small and nimble. Just got myself a ZC13S Swift and I am loving it! Suzukis are like little German Shepherds: cute and dependable.
I bought a Honda Acty Attack a couple weeks ago, your videos helped convince me on my choice. Here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NE TN it's been a great unit and I've been driving it daily. Thinking about a camper shell from PVC pipe and Oil Cloth. Bugs aren't really a problem here. Keep it up Guys!
In my country here in Philippines, This mini trucks are everywhere, I can say they are very reliable. People converts this mini trucks as Jeepnies (Not offroad jeep but something for transportation that carries a looot of people), others build their mini trucks as Vans, and others use them for heavy cargos but not on steep roads of course. So I do think this mini trucks are a good cheap alternative for small roads and small budget camper builds. Plus they're also easy to work on.
Contrary to all the naysayers, I like your campers and your video on them. As an ex-forester and ex-geologist here in Canada, I know the value of small off-road vehicles vs the large ones, and having a solid roof over one's head beats a tent any old day. Those little trucks seem to go practically anywhere in a very rough terrain. I did a lot of forestry work in BC, and having that system would have made my job easier. Apparently, Kei trucks are easy on fuel which sells for a premium here in the Great White North, and even more when a man gets into the back country. And putting a heater in your camper? Brilliant! That adds weeks to your camping season. I have lived out've a pack at times, and know how little a guy actually needs to be comfortable, so your campers are almost overkill, but hey, I'm in my 60's and I'd be overjoyed to own such a rig. The problem a lot of people have is that they want to get away from it all and bring it all with them. Not me. I've been a bushman my whole life and you guys have the right idea for a camper rig. And the fact that you pick up after all the pigs who spread garbage over forests (which are holy ground) makes you somewhat saintly. I have no skill in video making and feel like you have done a fine job in doing so. The only thing I would add to your camper would be a canoe rack, but hey, I'm Canadian and we're born with paddles in our hands.
Mike, another absolutely stunning adventure. So great to see you out there making it happen and inspiring others like myself to explore the wilderness….. always leaving the trail better than you found it. Those Kei trucks have such amazing capabilities - thanks for sharing with us. 👍👍😎👍👍
At the start of this video I was thinking, "what that thing really needs is a 7' long (But narrow) DIY box trailer so you could have separate sleeping/personal hygiene, and cooking/lounging areas"........ Then I saw the kind of trails you guys were going along, and thought "...... Erm, yeeeeeeah....... Maybe not". :D It still seems to be surprisingly capable off road, even with the extra mass of the camper body. The only extra thing I might have added to the build myself would have been a roll out rain shade for the side so I had somewhere dry to cook if the weather turned a bit iffy, Oh, and after seeing what kind of rugged wilderness you were taking these through, maybe some kind of hard covers for the rear windows to keep branches from taking any of them out? but as I usually add to a comment like that, "Your build, so your choices". :)
I think you should have... Ok, I'm lying. I'm completely impressed. I love what you've done, and it humbles me how simple but workable you've kept it. It's inspiration/reminder for me to keep it modest.
Thanks for checking out my videos 👍 these Kei trucks are good machines, I’ve had mine for about 3 years now and it’s so useful for around my place, plus a good little camping vehicle 😊
Great video Mike! I believe you said it in one of your latest videos… every one needs to slow down a little, don’t be in such a hurry. Enjoy the great outdoors, and respect it! Live life simple, make memories with those who mean the most to you. ✌🏻
What an absolute blast, I totally get it. Some of the best adventures seen on TH-cam are on small boats, small cc motorbikes and small campers. You guys get everywhere, quite simply because you can, and you can because it doesn't cost a lot. Whats good for one person doesn't mean it's good for another, but i like your style .
You guys have the best channel on TH-cam! Your content is what this platform should be used for. Definitely inspire lots of people to get off their asses and do something.
Man right on! I really appreciate your comment 👍 it’s definitely really good to read a positive comment. I have been getting at least one or two really negative down right insulting comments a day lately and it’s been a bit disappointing, making me consider turning off comments on my channel. Thanks again, I really appreciate it brother 😊👍
I love when people are actually called out for their bull! Keep up the great content! This channel is what has made me want to buy one of these Kei trucks!
I recently moved across the country, but seeing you guys camping out in your kei trucks makes me wanna go back home :,) Also it’s pretty funny how you can tell it was Washington after the first 10 seconds. Love the vid
Thanks for checking out my new video! The rain can definitely get old out in Washington, be as I get older I do enjoy the solitude you can still find out here. Take care 😊
I think you gentlemen nailed it! As a former owner of a 40ft 5th-wheel toyhauler, I can appreciate not having to find a campsite that'll accommodate that thing. Plus, as an avid deerhunter it's nice to get way off the beaten path with something other than a tent to protect you from the elements. Not to mention the fact that those trucks have heaters with some having A/C!
Hey Mike, thanks for taking us along for the ride. Looks like a fun adventure you had. You do you, can't please everyone. Good on ya for picking up trash although it's sad you have to do it at all. Looking forward to your next build. Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark
Thanks for checking out my new video Mark! I really appreciate it 👍 Yes these little campers fit our needs really well, we have a few more small mods to do then they should be about finished. I’m not sure my next (BIG) project on my channel, probably once I’m inspired about something then I will go off on something new for YT. Take care buddy 😊
People dump on you about the mini truck? It's different and you're bringing us along for the ride, thank you. I don't think subscribers will let them stick around too long.
Well...I never thaught I would say this but sometimes smaller is better...... especially in tight places....like the trails you ride of course !! Hey guys, I really enjoy watching your small truck video camping, alot more than those 400 000 $ Unimog videos. You look so comfy in that camper. I understand your choice material being wood. I make my own cabin on my atv's out of linden wood, plywood, super transparent vinyle table plastic as windows and a webasto heater for winter, Last week here in Quebec it was 37c and -53c with the wind chill. Ignore the couch losers who are just jealous . Keep the videos coming and take care guys !!
Thanks for cleaning up behind the slobs. I always do the same. I carry a collapsible rake for cleaning up camp sites. The campers look like a lot of fun. Definitely a thumbs up for the video 👍
This is great, I love mini campers and well thought out designs, made better by the simplicity. Thanks also for putting me onto Hobo Dave, a musician I would never have known about if I didn’t stumble onto this
Those things look like a hoot of fun with more then the bare necessities. It doesn’t matter how you do it, because there’s nothing better then a great remote camp spot.
Your video really motivates me to do something similar. I chose a minivan specifically for its cargo area. At the moment, I use the space to transport my bike. However, I also have a keen interest in exploring drawing and painting landscapes. Although my car mainly serves as a daily driver for now, your content has sparked a desire to engage in more interesting activities with it.
remember everybody Mike is living his life not your life. he’s doing what he likes the way he likes it and you’re free to do what you like the way you like it.
I don't know why people hate these, I want to make one myself it would be awesome to travel with, so you're not taking up heaps of space and still got enough for you
I am from India in my country, Suzuki or any Kie car brand doesn't sell these, but we have our own kie truck brand called TATA Ace there are very similar to what you have the only difference is production year yours are produced in 90's and these are latest and have bigger bed (7ft long and 5ft wide) and can haul up to 1-1.5 ton of cargo. These trucks are livelihood of people we also have TATA Ace to transport cargo from our farm to factories it is driven around 400k KM in 5yrs.
I admit I had some gut reaction to the size of the camper shell but then I saw how tight the trails were and clearly bigger would not have been better here
Crazy how capable these little trucks are. Thank you for showing the build process and your adventures. And not sitting around on your butt making armchair comments on the internet!
Right on! Man I sure wish we could buy these Kei trucks new in the states, they need to be 25 years or older before we can import them for road use here. I think you will really enjoy your new truck! 😊👍
I fully disagree with those comments - these trucks look like the perfect size and are super cozy! I'm thoroughly jealous! Thanks for the fun video. Shame about all the ticks! Things are so nasty.
You guys have proven the power of those trucks. I am really surprised and amazed by it! What I like about them is that, you don't need to pop up a roof tent. The sleeping place is actually built in the back and keep you safe.
I always find it funny how so many rude people on TH-cam. Make stupid remarks and comments. They need to have their own TH-cam channel. But like you said they would have to get off the couch and do something. Great video and channel
Love you and your brother’s thoughts on respect for our backcountry. All of these camper videos give me so many ideas for my little regular cab 4x4 pickup!
Thanks 😊 definitely like to show by example 👍 Yes I definitely recommend building a simple lightweight camper, especially if you have a regular 4x4 with a bigger engine. The mini trucks only have 43HP and a 660cc engine 😂 My friend got inspired from seeing our mini campers when we were building them, he decided to build one a little bigger for his Ford Ranger 4x4, it turned out great 👍
Mr. Festival, I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed the video and how great an idea it is to use the smallest in a country of "big is best" mentality. You and your brother are inspirational! Thankyou for taking us camping with you.
Love kei cars and trucks and love what you both did with yours. Great, functional use of space and you can't beat the accessibility. They're basically the TARDIS of campers (bigger on the inside).
until they build their own campers they have zero say here. you guys are doing it right. I have a mini van and would love to do where you guys go deep in the woods but my minivan would not do.. goodluck!
It doesn’t seem like the limited suspension articulation is holding you back much. It does make it funny to watch on the more challenging spots. So cool.
don't listen to those naysayers, you did well. You inspired many others to build their little dreams. I myself live in the 3rd world country where this kei truck going around everywhere, would never believe that you could build a nice campervan with it.
These trucks are so awesome. You're camper build inspired me so much. I love that its so simple and has nothing you don't need. I am going to try and build one for my 1987 Toyota Pickup this summer!
A lot of people myself included feel that as soon as Jeep got away from the flat sided jeeps and went to the big Suburban size Jeeps that a lot of the backhills with there narrow trails became inaccessible to them. I like your Little truck campers.
really sad for you guys having bad comments because honestly looking at there campers there pretty cool and cute there just perfect for this type of adventure
Thanks for checking out my videos 😊 I do appreciate it 👍 Honestly 95% of the comments I get are pretty nice, it’s the other 5% I will call out from time to time.
Mate, the fact that you built it yourself, does what you need it to do, and function the way you intended when you designed it is something truly commendable! well done, sometimes people need be careful of what they say and not be so hasty to judge. Just be you and we are here to watch your truly fantastic trips. Its crazy how capable these things are, and how useful these tiny trucks are.
This is what I wanted to do when I was stationed in Japan. Buy a mini truck and have it have a camper on the back. Never got it to happen. No one wants to sell these. Not that I can blame them. Hell yeah. Dope video!

Micro is the way to go, I love my old Kia Sportage 2 door 4X4. I can lay the passenger seat down flat and sleep fully stretched out inside.
Parking is so convenient on this vehicle as long your not for speed. Safety issue might be the problem though especially in highways.

Thanks Bruce 👍😊
The fact that that Kei truck climbed that first dirt hill is amazing lol. I bet the weight of the camper really helped plant the wheels in the ground.
The inside of the camper looks super cozy.
Rather build one of these and have fun with it than have endless payments on a rig im afraid to get dirty or scratched. Lol
You guys Rock!!
sweet little trucks. I really love the front and rear diff lockers. I like how they are manual and not electronic. good stuff
These little things are about as close to a motorized backpack as you can get 🙂Looks like a ton of fun!

I've been looking for an excuse to buy a kei truck and I think this does it, I love this.
I’ll never understand negative comments on something like this. This has just been happiness inducing from beginning to end.
Thanks 😊👍
In my country here in Philippines, This mini trucks are everywhere, I can say they are very reliable. People converts this mini trucks as Jeepnies (Not offroad jeep but something for transportation that carries a looot of people), others build their mini trucks as Vans, and others use them for heavy cargos but not on steep roads of course. So I do think this mini trucks are a good cheap alternative for small roads and small budget camper builds. Plus they're also easy to work on.
same in indonesia. 🗿☕👍
Thanks Joel! I appreciate it man 😊 I’m actually out camping in mini Kei truck now, my son and I decided to head out yesterday to go camping 👍😊
"Even though you can use the comment section, some people probably shouldn't." Brilliant quote. There's your t-shirt!
Keep doing what you do man!
Maybe not". :D
It still seems to be surprisingly capable off road, even with the extra mass of the camper body.
Thanks man 😊👍 they work pretty good. Cozy little camper trucks.
Negative comments are from jealous people. Keep up the adventures! I’m in B.C. and looking to get a mini truck. You are my research Guinea Pig 👍
Holy hell!! I need to build one of these campers, PRONTO!!
Fantastic work!
I love when people are actually called out for their bull! Keep up the great content! This channel is what has made me want to buy one of these Kei trucks!
Thanks for checking out my new video man 😊
haha sometimes I like to call out the BS comments 😂
I recently moved across the country, but seeing you guys camping out in your kei trucks makes me wanna go back home :,)
Also it’s pretty funny how you can tell it was Washington after the first 10 seconds.
Right on! I appreciate reading your comment.
Thanks for checking out my videos 😊
We here in Brazil are riding with you.
A big hug
Thanks man 👍I really appreciate it 😊
This looks like great fun and I’m glad you’ve got a brother that wants to enjoy these things with you.
Thanks Tony 😊👍
Well...I never thaught I would say this but sometimes smaller is better...... especially in tight places....like the trails you ride of course !! Hey guys, I really enjoy watching your small truck video camping, alot more than those 400 000 $ Unimog videos. You look so comfy in that camper. I understand your choice material being wood. I make my own cabin on my atv's out of linden wood, plywood, super transparent vinyle table plastic as windows and a webasto heater for winter, Last week here in Quebec it was 37c and -53c with the wind chill. Ignore the couch losers who are just jealous . Keep the videos coming and take care guys !!
those camper are done very well coming from a 20 X year cabinet maker and wood worker . great job
Thanks Tim 😊👍
Thanks for cleaning up behind the slobs.
I always do the same.
I carry a collapsible rake for cleaning up camp sites.
The campers look like a lot of fun. Definitely a thumbs up for the video 👍
Right on man! Thank you for also cleaning up the trash left behind from dirt bags.
Thanks for checking out my videos 😊👍
This is great, I love mini campers and well thought out designs, made better by the simplicity. Thanks also for putting me onto Hobo Dave, a musician I would never have known about if I didn’t stumble onto this
These kei trucks are real deal. Like small yet powerful.
They are great little trucks 😊👍
Someone ought to educate Jim on Suzuki cars, they will outlive any Chevy, Ford & Dodge vehicles by years! I know.😂
I don't know why people hate these, I want to make one myself it would be awesome to travel with, so you're not taking up heaps of space and still got enough for you
I am from India in my country, Suzuki or any Kie car brand doesn't sell these, but we have our own kie truck brand called TATA Ace there are very similar to what you have the only difference is production year yours are produced in 90's and these are latest and have bigger bed (7ft long and 5ft wide) and can haul up to 1-1.5 ton of cargo. These trucks are livelihood of people we also have TATA Ace to transport cargo from our farm to factories it is driven around 400k KM in 5yrs.
Props for picking up garbage at the exact moment I was showing this to my wife...now you got both our support 👏 appreciate you guys
YES! Another video! Been thinking about getting into welding and your videos are super helpful in helping me to see the lay of the land :)
Kei cars and trucks are my favourite, its amazing to see them off road. Keep it up!
They are great little machines 😊👍
Thanks for checking out my videos!
I admit I had some gut reaction to the size of the camper shell but then I saw how tight the trails were and clearly bigger would not have been better here
Crazy how capable these little trucks are.
Thank you for showing the build process and your adventures. And not sitting around on your butt making armchair comments on the internet!
Haha 😂 thanks Mike, I appreciate it 👍
dont listen to the naysayers, we can get the 2022 models here in australia. your channel has helped me make the choice!
I'm waiting for my 2022 Hijet to be shipped to me in North Queensland so I'm binging any kei truck video I can find. Grats on the choice!
Right on! Man I sure wish we could buy these Kei trucks new in the states, they need to be 25 years or older before we can import them for road use here. I think you will really enjoy your new truck! 😊👍
Those sleepers are fantastic. So are burritos. And narrow gauge steam engines. You're living the life.
I wish I had such kei camper. Small and practical
I fully disagree with those comments - these trucks look like the perfect size and are super cozy! I'm thoroughly jealous! Thanks for the fun video. Shame about all the ticks! Things are so nasty.
Screw people. Those things look fun AF!
Thanks for checking out my videos Jimmy! I really appreciate it man 😊👍
Love you and your brother’s thoughts on respect for our backcountry.
All of these camper videos give me so many ideas for my little regular cab 4x4 pickup!
Thanks 😊 definitely like to show by example 👍
Yes I definitely recommend building a simple lightweight camper, especially if you have a regular 4x4 with a bigger engine. The mini trucks only have 43HP and a 660cc engine 😂
My friend got inspired from seeing our mini campers when we were building them, he decided to build one a little bigger for his Ford Ranger 4x4, it turned out great 👍
Mr. Festival, I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed the video and how great an idea it is to use the smallest in a country of "big is best" mentality.
You and your brother are inspirational!
Thankyou for taking us camping with you.
Hello! You have beautiful nature! Japan cars we call here in siberia:"correct steering wheel"
So cool.
楽しそうですね🎵
日本の軽トラが外国で活躍できて嬉しいです。
ゴミ拾いは、神様が見ているので幸運が来ると思います!
動画のシェアありがとう。
don't listen to those naysayers, you did well.
Thanks for checking out my videos 😊
I do appreciate it 👍
Honestly 95% of the comments I get are pretty nice, it’s the other 5% I will call out from time to time.
Love it! This is such a great video guys!
Thanks man! I really appreciate it 😊👍
This is what I wanted to do when I was stationed in Japan. Buy a mini truck and have it have a camper on the back. Never got it to happen. No one wants to sell these. Not that I can blame them.
Hell yeah. Dope video!
Kei truck is the definition of KISS. fuck the haters, theyre mad cause they realize their crazy overland build cant get to the same spots ur going
Thanks man 😊👍
