Anxiety is normal even healthy when it *matches* the task at hand. We all get nervous when starting a new job or having to give a speech. However if the same level of anxiety is triggered when you're simply in a grocery store, then that's when it becomes a problem.

@UCxtwRR1fIife1HaR-Br17OQ remember that psychopathology in a psychiatric sense is not synonymous with the "psychopath" killer you know from popular culture. You don't have to be a murderer to possess psychopathic traits.
As Anna says, a spectrum of detachment can allow you to deal with situations other people may find crippling or traumatic, such as being an ER Doctor and dealing with horrific injury after horrific injury for a living. Similarly, you'd be a pretty bad soldier if you weren't able to compartmentalize killing people.
Obviously in the current climate people will jump on the Police Officer comment, but again whilst not 100% applicable since there are both good and bad officers across the entire world, a Police Officer in any country is pretty much always tasked with dealing with the worst that society has to offer and will repeatedly encounter people at their lowest moment in life. This doesn't make all Police Officers natural murderers or fighters since you could deal with a child abuser one call and then a suicidal person the next, but can be a desirable trait because we would of course want our officers to do what was required to protect innocent people if the time came, and to be able to keep a clear head under pressure or during horrific situations that regular people are fleeing from. Some of the highest mentally demanding jobs in the world require tapping into psychopathic traits without automatically making that person capable of cold-blooded murder.

5 Negative Traits That Are Good For You:
    1. Anxiety - stimulates our brains to be more vigilant, detail orientated, and heightens perception. Also can improve vision
    and hearing
    2. Anger - receiving anger increases quality and originality of our ideas
    3. Guilt - motivates us to repair damage we may have inflicted and helps us respect moral boundaries
    4. Narcissism - more likely to reach ambitious goals as narcissists feel more entitled to success and are less impeded by
    self doubt
    5. Psychopathic - lack of emotional attachments allows psychopaths to better handle crises and make better leaders
as they are more persuasive and take more risks
Makes sense that traits normally seen as negative have positive aspects - there are two sides to every coin!

You might want money. Maybe you want a lover or you might want to protect the world. These are all common things people want. Things that their hearts desire. Greed may not be good, but not so bad either. You human think greed is only for money and power, but everyone want something they don't have" / "Even a talent you are ashamed of can be a source of confidents if you use it for helping someone else " / "Life is made of 2 parts, half-happiness and half- hardship"
As long as we have self-control and are aware of our actions. Good things do come from the least likely places.

I mean, yes, the integration of all emotions and character traits is most beneficial, but when "negative" emotions become strong, intense, and exacerbated by stress, they lead to unfavorable actions and worsen your current circumstances. Likewise, the traits you mentioned, when working in unison and not against patience and compassion and such, can help people become more successful, but again, once a disordered state is reached, one's mental state needs to return to a healthier equilibrium to avoid catastrophic repercussions of abuse and violence.

This is very similar to what my therapist has been telling me, no emotion is good or bad, they're either comfortable or uncomfortable. We label some emotions as bad or negative because they made us feel uncomfortable but they're just as important as comfortable emotions because they are there to tell us something. It's important to take the time to listen to our emotions, even when it's hard, figure out why they're there, and then decide if we need to listen to them or not. We're allowed to feel sad, anxious, scared, angry or guilty and then decide for ourselves if what they're telling us to do or not to do is actually beneficial to us or harmful to us. It's not easy to do but it's important to look at our emotions simply as emotions and try not to judge them when they come up, noticing them and taking from them what we need to feel whole.

Deffinetly agree on the narcissist front. Ive known a few doctors and surgeons and they've all been like this to some degree. Guys who think there word is gospel of they don't think they're a god themselves. But at the sane time if they didn't have that self confidence and self belief to act in times of crisis. You can't have someone second guessing every decision they make as they're doing open heart surgery

Please do not enable narcissism if you don't know what its like to be in the path of abuse. Please do not.

having narcissistic traits is not the same thing as being a narcissist though. Everyone may have some narcissistic traits and one point or another, but that doesn't make them a narcissist/abuser. The difference is in the quantity of narcissitic behavior displayed.

These aren't negative traits, we have been conditioned to think they are while expressing duality between "good" and "bad" emotions. We are emotional beings and we are born to feel all types of way there is and beyond. But as explained, there is a boundary between healthy side to these emotions and the excessive expression of these emotions.

I wish she had mentioned that the main thing with most of these is balance.
Too much anxiety, guilt or anger when not needed is bad for your health.
Being over narcissistic - harder to acknowledge your faults or listen to others, over- Psychopathic - manipulating others and committing crimes without remorse.
