    Nice job on this series! You have a lot of time shooting and editing this, so thanks. I used to double the 15-hour oil change interval on my KTMs during long, "easy" dual sport trips, and never had issues, but that's anecdotal. Everyone has an opinion on this. Keep up the great work.

      Thanks! Yeah I’ve heard of people doing that for the longer rides. I am just very consistent when it comes to my maintenance schedules and I try to push long lifespans out of my motors. Thanks again for the channel support!

    Dude. Your videos are stunning!! The cinematography and narrating are spot on, seriously … well done!!
    And that oil change 😮 … you made that look easy and I’ve done it enough to know I make a mess hahaha!!

    Another great video…really enjoying this series! Had my Dad been into bikes, I definitely would have loved to do this with him! I visit him weekly in a Veterans Home and bring my iPad with me every time to show him progress on my old Porsche 914 and pics of us guys on the bikes. I think he gets a kick out of it! He asked me to bring him more and possibly a couple of real bottles of beer! Done! Enjoy every minute with your Dad! He is pretty damn cool! Your videos are inspirational!

      I'm so glad you like the series!! I really cherished these moment with my dad and it was an adventure that both he and I won't forget. Its really good that you are spending that time with your dad and get to bond with him over those things. I am trying to take advantage of these times with my dad while we have them now. Its so important.

    Cool series! Did it myself about 2 months ahead of you and rode back home to Oregon on the WABDR...1989 miles!! We started in Twin Falls, avoiding the Jarbidge leg, yet still had some adventures. As we ALL do!

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats a killer route!! Someday I want to ride the WABDR. Though, I gotta say, I liked the areas surrounding jarbidge! it was super similar to parts of Utah to me.

    Good job on the oil change cleanup. I hope the Baja 1000 is on your bucket list. I've driven the highway down & up many times but it would be cool to do the actual trail on a bike. Not during the race, it's more peaceful & relaxing when you can take your time.

    9:52 I noticed an empty holster? Only reason I mention it is because I carry IWB appendix just to make sure I don’t loose it and I’m protected from landing on it during a fall.

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You’ll notice that a few times during the series. I would switch it from open carry to concealed depending on if I were riding in an area that was excessively dusty or anywhere the action would get dirty. Other times I would conceal it out of respect if I were going to be in a grocery store or something.

    Congrats for the clean oil change! I wonder how you do these views with the drone moving in the opposite direction you are moving?! Anyway, these are great! I really enjoy your videos and appreciate your skills as much on the motorcycle as on the camera!

    Was thinking of road tripping with my 525exc. Do the oil changes annoy you? I really don't want to change my bike.

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly the oil changes didn't bother me at all, but I am pretty rigorous on my bike's maintenance. Its worth doing a road trip if you can!

  • @massdrivemoto
    @massdrivemoto 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Really enjoying the series. That's saying a lot because although I enjoy moto videos I don't like the vast majority that I've viewed. That being said....15 hour oil change intervals? So you're changing the oil every 2-4 days?

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much! Yeah exactly. I was running oil changes roughly at those intervals. The 500exc and fe501 both have very quick oil breakdown and require regular servicing. Though, I was also regularly changing the oil due to certain factors like getting stranded in the mud on day one. The strain on the clutch likely led to a higher volume of clutch particles in the oil which over time will wear your main bearing. Plus i try to extend the life of my motor as much as possible with consistent servicing.

    Oil change in the middle of the ride? You brought the wrong bike.

    • @madjack_757
      @madjack_757  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Actually I made 3 oil changes during that trek. Definitely had a great bike for the journey.

    • @lisasnider3981
      @lisasnider3981 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're right that frequent oil changes are a downside to smaller displacement bikes. Bigger bikes have longer service intervals. However, the lighter bike sure was an advantage overall, given how many times we dropped bikes and had to pick them up!

    • @Gamet36
      @Gamet36 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@madjack_757I think the 690/701 would've been the perfect bike for that journey. That said we all have an opinion. You ride what speaks to you. I'm looking at doing this next year perhaps. It looks like a lot of fun.
