    Wow...Mississippi boy here, been making and eating southern biscuits for almost 50 years, and I've NEVER seen that pillow case trick! But it is definitely worth trying. Excellent tutorial.

    I think I’ve watched every single biscuit video on TH-cam to date. This is hands down the best recipe for making biscuits by far. It’s all about the process. I learned so much! So who is this guy? I want more videos from him! This guy really knows how to bake! I keep wondering what other recipes he has up his sleeve??? This video is such a tease! Thanks for making it though. But please make more!

    I’ve tried several recipes and methods on you tube for making buttermilk biscuits and could never get a really good biscuit until I tried this method!! It was easy and by far gave me the lightest, fluffiest biscuits! I think it had a lot to do with less stirring and handling of the dough and simply folding it using the cloth! Amazing results! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

    I have been making biscuits for over 40 years and have never seen anyone knead the dough in a cloth.I will try your method.
    Enjoyed the video.

    I've been making biscuit for 50 years and I have to say, by the time he got his way done, I would have my biscuits baked and the dishes washed.

    They look great! My mother used to sprinkle the scraps with a little cinnamon and sugar before baking them. We thought it was the best treat ever. Of course, her biscuits were a great treat as well!

    White Lily Flour is milled from 100% soft winter wheat, which has less protein than standard flour. For delicate pastries like biscuits, lower protein helps you achieve that signature texture which elevates pillowy dough into fluffy biscuits. So, a PILLOW CASE for PILLOWY soft biscuits makes Great sense!

    Thanks V. your video was great...brilliant to use your cloth as the kneading apparatus...your dough looked amazing and soft. thanks again. I'll be tryiing your recipe soon. By the way, I don't have self-rising flour, can I use regular? I have a bag of King Arthur white and don't want to have to buy a bag of something I won't be using regularly. What would I add the the white flour to make it rise, baking soda or powder? not sure. Anyhow, thank you again. You have a great voice for instructing!!

    But how do you make the outside of the biscuit kinda salty and buttery like at Jacks or Popeyes?

    • @varietytubechan
      @varietytubechan  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could easily melt butter and honey in either a pan on the stove or in the microwave, 2:1 Honey/butter or equal parts, experiment as you like. After the biscuits are out of the oven, brush that over the top and voila.

    • @shundakm
      @shundakm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try brushing over them with melted salted butter as soon as they are out of the oven once or twice.

    Wouldn't it be easier to measure? That way you know how much you need of each ingredient instead of adding a little then a little more. Seems like a much longer process.

  • @reaginmx

    I use wax paper it's only a buck @ the dollar store , seem like the dough will stick to the fabric.

      Flour was the helper there. Dough will stick to anything without that layer of flour.

      2 cups self rising flour 1 stick non salted butter cup into small pieces then in freezer for 1/2 hour. Blend into flour with hands or pastry cutter. Make home in center of flour mix then slowly add 3/4 cup buttermilk. Oh teaspoon of salt and teaspoon of sugar while mixing flour before butter and milk. Then proceed. This is recipe I use. White Lily Self rising flour works great.
