Some are definitely just saying just get the MPC alone or a Key 37, but having sounds from another manufacturer running through the MPC is another level, versus just using the Akai sounds. Don’t be afraid to step it up to be outstanding. Great video. Great combination.
Idk know if you bought your Fantom S new, but I too in 2005 bought a Fantom X8 on sale at Guitar Center on Labor Day (they had a very good sale going) and it cost me $2396 on sale. The MPC 1000 was on sale for $799. You probably bought the X also, not the S. In any case, that was a lot of money back then, and this setup of the MPC One and Juno D would blow that X8 + MPC 1000 out the water for a lot less money. Thank you Technology!!!!
I used to use my Fantom-06 with an original black MPC One a couple of years ago as a secondary small portable setup. It was a nice setup, and the two instruments worked well together. However, I have since replaced my MPC One with an MPC Key-37 + Fabric Collection (which I use as standalone) and I now use my Fantom-06 as part of my other much larger midi hardware setup.
Spot on. What makes This set up more enhanced than just an MPC key 37 is that you get not only more sounds but GREAT sounds. More options to enhance your creativity. Also the MPCs limit how many plug in tracks you can use on hard ware where I believe you can have more flexibility with an additional keyboard. Let me add that you can def make hits with that setup. Let me add again lol I just traded in the MPC one plus for the key 61. The one plus is a Great machine. Not gonna lie, something about having a box shape MPC and a Roland keyboard that is just top tier
my Akai 61 will be here in two days :) wanted a key big enough to kinda get coordinated & learn piano as well so.. now thats on me lol i called this music sites bluff on aproving my financing for the board 0.o they werent lying lol ive got the mini (no speaker) & a 16 pad knob board, not the red one the one just before. now i just want the 40 pad slider 25 key & a microphone love the video Bolo, totally gave me confidence in what i got kookin up over here gear wise :)
Man Bolo. Been looking at the Juno-D6 since it was announced. Been trying to hold out for the Fantom 6 EX but I might have to cop this in the meantime!

I'm trying to justify a Fantom 6 (not the 0) - I am a life long musician / producer / composer (old git) but I have never contemplated spending so much on a keyboard. I want the controls (so Nautilus is out) and would use the CV's ... and I love the idea of all the Roland models... but hell. $£$. Could you do a more deep dive on the Fantom with the MCP - I know you sort of briefly covered it before. I would be using it with a Key 61... basically as the master keyboard (better keybed) with a stack of voices and the n-zyme. Thanks for your consideration Bolo.
Just to double tap on the card speeds; it is veeerrry important to use at a minimum a UHS 3 rated card (30MB/sec) but preferably a V30,60 or 90 rated card which are commonly used for video recording. Slower cards are ok for backups.
Yeah, the key 37 would be fantastic for a beginner, in my opinion. Takes care of having to plug in a separate keyboard, and having keys makes it much easier to record the built-in sounds. And now that the MPC 3.0 software is easier to use than ever (it's still in beta, so there will be some bugs until it's done with the beta), it's a great value for an all-in-one.
So, what about the Roland Fantom 8? I don’t think it is class compliant, would the set up be the same or would it be different? I have an MPC Live 2 that I want to hook up to the Roland Fantom 8.
Boi if that Roland Juno was red bolo smh 🔥 nice setup I need that Roland Juno. Are you going to do a video with you making a beat with the one plus and the Juno soon
Bolo! Thanks for the information. Would it be possible to use my computer vsts as my primary sound source using the mpc? I have so many vst that I wanna use on the mpc and I don’t wanna use the mpc in controller mode!
You can do that with VSTs that are desktop apps using a usb to midi cable. Roland Zenology for instance is not a desktop app and can only be opened within a DAW. But VST products from Korg, Kontakt, Arturia do come as desktop apps as well so they would work in the fashion you are looking for.
@@Jason-tl4tg Neither. Set the MPC to a Midi Program. So from the USB device (lets say a MIO USB - MIDI cable) the USB would be plugged into the computer and the Midi IN (of the MIO) would be plugged into the MIDI Out of the MPC. Then in the desktop app of the VST you are using just select the MIO as the mIdi and ensure the midi channel corresponds to what midi channel you have set on the MPC.
I’ll still buy MPC-61 For live reasons and instant turn on and done is more convenient than carrying cables two different gears two different stands so nah a hard pass plus the engine and sonic power on MPC plugins is way up there in the Nord zone
I think it's a good combination. I have a verselab mv1 (zencore sound) and 3 synth modwave, minifreak and mininova. Zencore sound from roland is very very gooooddd!!!
@@BoloDaProducerI feel that basically your letting ppl know that this is the cheapest way to get those quality production sounds. Because even with the 37 your limited on sounds. I really like this set up may have to try it myself. Do you run it with headphones or external speakers?
Far better off just using the MPC (whatever version you like) And use Roland zen beats if you only have a phone,or zencore if you have a pc, seems like this guys been sponsored to plug this new keyboard which judging by his history and experience he would never go out and buy now as it’s a pointless expense when you can just sample patches of Zencore.
Roland Juno Stage sucks, Roland Juno Di' sucks. I don't know about the other ones but these two I mentioned are watered down. Your would be better of buying a yamaha mm6 over those. I have the black Mpc One it does everything the red one does minus the WIFI.
Some are definitely just saying just get the MPC alone or a Key 37, but having sounds from another manufacturer running through the MPC is another level, versus just using the Akai sounds. Don’t be afraid to step it up to be outstanding. Great video. Great combination.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I recently picked up the MPC One +, being a long-time Maschine loyalist, and I love it.
This is just as good for seasoned veterans as it is for beginners to be honest. Great video.
My MPC2000 alone was $1800 brand new in 98 with full memory and 8 extra outs. I got it used for 1500. This is a great combo

It's good combo he right back in the day I had a korg triton le for like 1600 and mpc 2000xl for a thousand used off ebay

I've always had my best set up a with Roland and akai , it's just 🔥
🔥
Juno D6 is great for the money. I'd pair it with the MPC 37 and feel pretty confident about it. (if I had a standalone set up)
More combos like this.

How do you cut local switch off on keyboard?
In system settings
Boy you always right on time Bolo 🤙🏾
I try!
Great video as always. Would this keyboard go well with the Live 2 also?
Yes it will!
Cool, I was about to get a key 37 but I’ll get this instead. Thanks!
How do you hook your? Mpc keyboard to your tascam 16 or 12 mixing board or any information to hook keyboard mixer and your fl studio altogether?
with the Juno being class compliant audio interface you could you use a USB for both audio and midi and run one set of cables to you audio interface?
Yes you can 👍🏾 But I like running keyboard through MPC pre amps then exporting everything from the MPC
I went all in and just got the mpc x se for my first akai
Dope…that’ll be my next buy
Thing is sick!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥

What about the Akai mpc key 37? Would that be a good start for a beginner. Like myself

@@BoloDaProducer understood 👍🏿
What is the Roland bringing to the table as opposed to a regular midi if you can get all those sounds on the MPC?
Freeing up space and processing power

If you're on a budget, the MPC Key 37 is where it's at. You don't need an external keyboard or workstation.
Personally I wont what Bolo, Zaytoven and many other greats use.
