Mine differs. Today, I made a remix on Maschine 3.0. Yesterday, I synced up an MPC 2500 with Maschine, MPC master, Maschine (on an i13900f as a slave). I also sync my SP404mk2 with Maschine. In both cases, Maschine is used as a Massive synth using my CE 14.

I'm using a Komplete Kontrol S49, the Maschine mk3, and the MPC One+ with Studio One. And I'm using a Beringer X2222 mixing board as my interface, but I haven't been able to get my MPC to sync successfully with my computer. My cpu doesn't even recognize my MPC through usb for some odd reason.🤔
But after watching this video, I'm going to switch to my old Presonus Audiovox interface with midi inputs to get my MPC to fully sync with Studio One. I've never had any problems syncing my Maschine and S49 with everything.

Greetings, you can use Maschine as an instrument in Ableton. I do it this way and I route each sound to an external instrument so that I'm able to Arrange, Mix or whatever. Not sure if you've tried this method before or not. Been using Ableton since version 2, which is a long time LOL. Sometimes, I just drag the sounds directly from Maschine into Ableton as well when i'm feeling lazy.

@@Sarah2ill I feel you on that. Once i got the shiz working I didn't look back because of exactly what you said. I used to work for NI and I already knew how the ball was dropped with Maschine and it's software.
Now, my issue with your Midi set up method is I don't have the Maschine+, I have the MK3 controller and i can't figure out how to Link it to my MPC. The MPC Link I can see to Ableton but Maschine, isn't cooperating.

@@Sarah2ill Just the OG's. I have a 4000. I'll try one of the moderns some day. What I like about the mk3 is non destructive slice markers, overlapping start and end points, pitch shift per slice, and zooming and selecting slice points is awesome. I got a push3 and is not quite there like the mk3. I don't like touch screens that much but for slice points may be a good idea indeed. Can you non destructively pitch shift per slice on the X ? Overlapping slice points ?

Strange how things CIRCLE AROUND and re-surface! MIDI was the s*** in the late 80's through late 90's! Back then I had a BOSS drum machine, Korg X3 and Roland JV90 and I had ALL THAT in sync through MIDI without any issues! Then came all of the computers (RISE OF THE MACHINES🤣). Sarah, the Ableton Link protocol works over Wifi. That means all your clocking is happening without your midi cables. If you are using MPC/Mas to enter notes into Live, then you need to connect midi cables. Likewise if you are using Live to send notes to your MPC/Mas, you need midi cables (or midi over USB) connected. If you are only using clocking from Live, like you are in this video, then Link over wifi will suffice and you do not need any midi cables connected. I hope this makes sense.

I record similarly. I make sure to record the midi notes in the midi track too though. Mute the midi once I recorded the audio in. All my synths I make sure to get them on the right msb, lsb, and program to recall the right preset on the external gear. Thats the only way to not have to find the preset all over again. Never tried with Ableton as the clock though. When recording the audio. I like to punch in and stop without looping for my reverb and delay tails.

Combined knowledge and mastery will have you leaps and bounds ahead of any would-be "competitor(s)" 😤 . As is probably apparent already. 😜Blending the tech midi\usb\analog, etc.. exponentially extends the creative possibilities. Just ask any self-proclaimed midi master.😊 When you get new equipment, don't toss out anything old...midi it up, and add it to the setup!!!😂 Learn and implement everything you can! There were limitations then which I can’t remember but it worked inside of pro tools and ableton. I’ve also moved away from NI in lieu of dedicated instruments but understand the massive palette it gives you that’s hard to put down. Lmk if maschine doesn’t work as an insert…. Wait, so you have maschine software running on your computer in the background? Not as a plugin I see. I have a somewhat similar setup, actually crazier and more confusing than this lol. I use multiple computers (pc and mac) and multiple devices syncing and talking using network midi. are you just using the one computer?

I am not using the Maschine software. I am using Maschine + which is in standalone mode. It’s its own computer. I am using one computer

the ableton link is actually via network. its much easier to setup and requires no cables. the midi sync options would use the midi cables though. you could even link the mpc and the maschine together as well. going out from mpc to the maschine then out to ableton. then you wouldnt need the usb midi cable.

Could you break down your Ableton template for this setup?

    Extreme contradictory statement incoming.
Your set up is completely over-the-top and unnecessary. That being said, I really love your set up. I love how you chained everything together and made it to your own. People forget that, regardless of what anyone else thinks, what matters is how it works for you and if it works for you. My set up is different from yours, but not much less complicated. But it works for me. That’s a beauty of music production. There’s 1 million ways to do it as long as you understand that it works for you that’s all that matter.
I love the feature that you can sync it, and it only records when you hit the down of the next measure.
I’ve been using midi since 2005 and as much as there are newer protocols, it has been so reliable

@ … I have not touched a drum machine in 10 years! I worry about my learning curve. I currently use Designer and samples. But I wanna try MPC or something I can take my melody and just add drums and kicks to create a full beat.

I been looking on Zz Sound and Sweetwater for equipment so far . I would view the history to show what types I need and what works with what I currently have.

This is officially unofficial. Throw the ASR- 10 in the line up officially with the midi sync. Midi the MPC and ASR-10 to ABLETON

I still gotta wrap my head around the ASR-10. But I have the Audio going to the MPC now.

Why is it important to have four drums machine in your studio?. The best Reggae Album for 2024 their drums tracks was played on an Arturia Keylab MK2.

what makes no sense to me on youtube i see people studio
and they have great synths plugged in to crap budget studio monitors which mask frequencies
how can one buy great synths but be happy to use budget boy studio monitors there missing out big style studio monitors
should be the main thing people get right when it comes to high end studio gear

      @Sarah2ill  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well I live in an apartment. It’s a living room, not a recording studio. It already sounds like shit. I mix using headphones. Feel free to send me some monitors and get me some studio time ✌🏾
