    I think what made his death especially tragic was the fact that after hearing this video, his voice didn't really change all that much since 1976 and now that it's silenced and Brad's no longer with us, it's really tragic. He's probably one of the most underrated vocalists in rock history. RIP Brad.

    Brad was a very close friend of mine. A chance meeting in 1988, led to an unlikely friendship of almost 20 years. I adored this man. I was wrecked to the center of my soul when I got the news. I haven't been the same since, but I wouldn't trade one second of that friendship. I'm a better person for having known him. I love you "BEDhead". I'll see you on the other side. ❤️💔❤️💔❤️💔

    Such a sad ending to a terrific career. I was born in 60 and I grew up listening to this amazing group with an awesome lead singer but never could afford to see them in person. Rock on in heaven Brad.

    WOW, he still sounded absolutely amazing. I know this gets tossed around a lot, that today's music can't touch the older music but it's so TRUE.
    Back when bands actually played their instruments and had talent and singers actually sang. Makes you appreciate this amazing band even more.

      rolling stone said that if Boston could do on stage that they did in the studio then fans are in for a great concert. cobo hall 1976 this band is icon we will always have your voice from the angels brad. never forgotten !

    • @JimBobJoeB0b
      @JimBobJoeB0b ปีที่แล้ว

      It gets tossed around a lot for no good reason. You’re lying to say that today’s bands and singers don’t actually play and sing, just BS spat by people who want to stick to their nostalgic music and mock the newer generations.

    Thank you for this. What a sweet piece of rock history you have shared. This band has been the sound track of my life and the song More Than a Feeling my anthem. Brads voice is timeless, clear, hypnotic, and his kindness was in every note he sang. Again my sincere thanks for posting this. Tears and goosebumps.

    "But when we got up on stage, and got ready to play, people came A-LIVE !!" If these lyrics don't embody the spirit of live rock n' roll, I don't know any that do !!! RIP Brad, and LONG LIVE Boston !!!!

    Possibly the greatest voice in rock and roll history!!! RIP sir. "More than a feeling" in my opinion is the most iconic rock and roll song ever! Man they sure dont make them like they used to.

  • @SONICLOBOTOMY
    @SONICLOBOTOMY 17 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yes, I agree. In my opinion, one of the best the best rock songs ever written. The lyrics are about the power of music, and how a song can help you recall a memory. Music , at it's best, is transcendent. "I closed my eyes and I slipped away" I know that feeling. This tune brings back great memories of girls from my distant past, and that's a good thing.

    Thank you so much for posting this video, the quality was better than I expected it to be. I'm only 18, but I have been listening to Boston literally since age 5, even though I never had the chance to see them live. I heard about the tragic news of Brad's passing almost immediately and I was devastated, since he had been sort of an idol for me since my early childhood. Brad, you will be missed, and I hope I see you on the other side one of these days. God bless!

    I saw them in 1994, I must've been about 8 years old. They were on tour following their Walk On album. I remember it being amazing. I remember Tom's guitar solo, and the ship setpiece descending from the ceiling. And how Tom would switch from the piano to the organ while his guitar was still strapped to him. Brad Delp was an amazing vocalist. I'm almost 30 so not quite as old as you guys who grew up with them, but let me tell you, I deeply respect the band. They have a very unique sound and rich vocal harmonies, memorable songs despite how few albums they made. I'm proud to know of them and love them, and am making sure my kids grow up listening to them and other great bands with originality and talent, rather than just Miley Cyrus and whatever crap they play now. It will never be the same. Thanks for uploading.

  • @DougCanney1

    Great performance by Brad, couldn’t help but notice, the music was dragging a little. That makes it a lot harder for a vocalist to sing, when it’s not played the correct speed. He still nailed it, one of the best that’s ever got behind a microphone.

    All I can say is growing up in the 70's, the first time you heard Boston it was like you were steamrolled by the future of rock n' roll - an awesome wall of sound! Unlike anything heard before (or since, truthfully).

    .... from a time when it was all about the Song, and about the craftsmanship of putting that song forward on a live stage. A time when all of that mattered, because it really meant something to people. A time when concerts were cheap but you had to actually buy every single or LP to play it... and the act of just putting vinyl on a turntable was a kind of sacred ritual - you really respected the miracle of music, and what it took to get that bit of electronic magic to your speakers and 'phones.

    Like (almost) everyone else, this hits home with me, and I completely agree that he had one of the greatest voices in rock 'n roll -- I'm constantly amazed that he doesn't rate in the "top" (whatever) lists. When I moved from Florida to Illinois (December '94), I soon had the chance to see them in concert (May '95), so bought two tickets and went on my way, only to GET LOST. Some years later, they were back in IL again, and the same thing happened. By the time I finally saw them, Brad had passed; I loved the concert, the songs, and the energy, but we all know it wasn't quite the same, and why.

    I got into classic rock when I was 11 when my parents played Sweet Child O' Mine on the radio. That also got me into guitar! Anyway, I've discovered and loved plenty of classic rock bands throughout my very limited years of listening. Well, I had stumbled upon Boston, and something about them spoke to me like no other band had. I LOVE Boston, and Brad Delp had an amazing voice, and Tom Scholz is great at what he does! I am a bit newer to the world of Boston (only about a year now, as I am 15), and I wasn't a fan while Brad was alive. I got to see them in concert this summer, and I can already tell it's just not the same as it was. Now don't get me wrong! Tommy DeCarlo was amazing, but it would have been so much cooler to see Brad with Delp. I love you man, and you will be greatly missed! RIP to the nicest guy in Rock N' Roll!

    • @cuttingthechord1419
      @cuttingthechord1419 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for posting. Boston's a great start. Your musical pallet will develop and grow from here for sure.
      There's a saying about music, if you find yourself enjoying it too much, there's probably something more going on. In the case of Boston, the term is overdubbing, where a part is recorded and re-recorded and both parts are included on the recording. The music is not recorded in real time, and not in one take. It doesn't mean the music is fake, it means it makes it harder to replicate in a live setting. Boston has gotten better and better at it over the years, but it takes more musicians to pull it off than just your typical four or five-piece band. Brad was a one of a kind for sure, I was fortunate enough to see the band live with him and won't even bother seeing the band without him.

    • @jacksonhabig607
      @jacksonhabig607 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, for sure. Most of the recordings only required about 3 people, so when they're live they have about 6 people on stage playing.

    • @jacksonhabig607
      @jacksonhabig607 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      But Tom, Brad and Sib were all doing this, but Tom did all guitars, organs, clavinets, and bass. he said the instrument he couldn't do was drums. I may be mistaken.

    • @cuttingthechord1419
      @cuttingthechord1419 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Peep Massacre no you're not, but Tom had a different approach to drums than Sib. He thought the drums should be played slightly out of time so they come through on the recording. That's why he went to drum triggers he could do without a live drummer. Sib actually did earn a drumming credit on Third Stage for 'Cool the Engines'.

    • @jacksonhabig607
      @jacksonhabig607 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, okay. I see what you mean. Tom Really is a good songwriter, but I really don't dig their two most recent albums.

    I saw the Corporate America tour here in Orem, Utah as well and got to meet Brad and get his autograph at the McKay Events Center. Brad stuck around and signed anyone who wanted an autograph stuff. Such a nice guy, I'd have never for a second thought he was going to take his own life. He seemed so happy and I know he was preparing to be married and another tour with Boston when he did. Shocking and heartbreaking was the news. He was everyones friend and down to earth. Only other siger I've met like that was Ronnie James Dio. Rock In Peace Brad and Ronnie...

    There is no way Boston could have sounded as good without Bard Delp's amazing voice. Tom should give him more credit and thank his lucky star that he was part of it. R.I.P. BRAD

    Thanks for posting this, TJ.
    I recently uploaded a live audio performance and photo of the band "Bagshot Row" I was in with Brad and Fran in 1971.
    It's here on TH-cam.You can do a search with Delp and Bagshot to find it if you want to check it out.
    Hope you're still playing.
    Take care,
    Your old piano teacher in Saugus,
    Bill Hynes

    really sad that they didn't get to the UK, loved this band for most of my life. Very Sad about Brad, it wasn't reported here only found out today when I went to Wiki to see what they are up to cos I am restoring my record collection with ITunes and got some of their trax. An amazing voice, and such a brilliant mimic of Paul McCartney wow.
