Brad was a once in a lifetime talent and there will never be another like him. I just listened to Third Stage again all the way through. I feel that Michael did these songs justice and Brad would be thankful. Michael has an amazing voice and definitely did wonderful under extreme adversity. These are some of the most beautiful songs ever written and he nailed them!!
Not a very good performance,BUT;The reason 2 guys are doing Brad Delp's parts is because MOST of his original vocals were DOUBLED!!There were 2"Brads"singing,simultaneously.But Brad WAS a great singer.

Someone told me a few years back that he was with Boston, but just recently found out it was in 2008 when I was told 90's. He is a very talented singer!!! I just saw Stryper a month ago and it was amazing!!! I am also a fan of Boston, but have only heard the albums when Brad Delp was the singer, did Michael ever sing with them when they recorded an album?
I remember two special times I heard this song. Once during a magic show when I was in second grade. The second time we had just smoked and I was waiting for my ride to drive me back home from college. Amazing song. Here it is over 30 years later and I still love it. I came to hear Michael on it. Sounds good. Nothing embarrassing here. Couple notes are a bit lower. But excellent pitch. Not an easy song! Great job. Plus doesn't he look great?
Irgendwie ist es als Gitarrist gut zu wissen, dass die Originalbuben die Studioversion genausowenig live rüberbringen können wie ich das mit dem Backingtrack tu... :) Es gibt doch noch Gerechtigkeit auf dieser Welt!
❤ One of the best songs ever, always performed with great love for the song, I was 18 when I heard it first time, a remedy when things do not go yr way...
This was great! I came across this because a friend of mine shared More Than A Feeling cover by The Classic Rock Show and I saw on recommended Boston LIVE and I know i'll never get to see them perform and I've become a fan in recent years and hearing Michael Sweet singing this song is amazing!!! Such a great talent, very different than what I'm used to when I hear his voice I'm used to Stryper. Which is why this was a wonderful surprise that I clicked a video with Michael Sweet touring with Boston! Now, does anyone know if he just toured with them or did he ever sing on an album? The only Boston albums I'm familiar with are the ones that Brad Delp sang on.
Sure is!!! Amazing talent! I am a fan of Stryper, so seeing this video and hearing Michael singing this amazing song to begin with, it was different, but at the same time incredible! It would have been cool if in 2008 that Boston been in Cumberland, Maryland. Someone told my parents that Foghat, Boston and Journey were going to be at our fairgrounds and mom bought the tickets and turned out the only thing correct was Foghat, the other acts were Starship and REO Speedwagon which still was an awesome show. Anyway, if that would have been truth I would have said I got to see Michael Sweet sing with Boston and then years later with Stryper. 2008 was about 3 years before I knew who Stryper was.
This was a tribute show for Brad Delp but Michael did go on to tour with Boston. I actually liked it a lot. Not Brad of course but I dug it. I saw it live with Michael twice.
Tommy DeCarlo has really grown as a singer since this performance. Literally came out of no where to carry on Brad’s legacy. The Gibson P-90s In Scholz’s Les Paul sound a bit strange on this song. Used to hearing that classic humbucker tone
When I first saw him I thought for a second that it was Jeff Beck. I love P-90's. My first really good Gibson was an original 1952 Les Paul goldtop with P-90's. Found it in a pawn shop for $400. It was literally in near unused new condition. Only weak part was the crappy banjo bridge that Gibson used on the 52/53 Les Pauls. Wish I still had that ax but I had to have humbuckers so it got traded off. I sure went thru a lot of early Gibsons back then.
There is a humbucker in the bridge position. The change in tone is more likely from all the Rockman gear behind him, which was not used on the first two albums. Pretty sure that he used DiMarzio Super Distortion and an MXR 10 band EQ or a fixed wah pedal on the first two...at least that's what he said in interviews back in the day. Of course he also said that he modded the band's pedals as well... The Rockman gear came out in 1982...I bought a Rockman upon release, Third Stage (1986) was all Rockman sound, the amazing guitar sound of the first two albums was never recorded again. Maybe Stryper came closest to that sound thereafter, although they were more extreme with both EQ and also gain. I didn't like my Rockman at all. Not even for home use. I stuck with the MXR 10 band and two Marshall 50 watt heads for gigging. I was going for sounds more like Rhoads and Maiden then, but the rig that I had could sound very much like the first two Boston albums.
@@jfo3000 he still uses the rockman gear live and his guitar doesn’t sound like this anymore. In this video It sounds like p-90 tone to me. They have a totally different sound than a humbucker.
Obviously you have no clue who was playing the guitar and was singing. Micheal Sweet is a great guitar and singer in his own right. And doesn't need to take a back seat to no one. Look him up. He has been in the music game for years. But I didn't expect you to know that. Have a good day.
@@douglaslawson6580 Hahahaha I know Michael personally. I stand by my words. Stryper kills this version of Boston. But Michael should have never been in this band. Not a fit.
@@davidstewart4310 Michael can, and so can Tommy, but maybe not in mixed voice if that's what Brad used? Michael went for notes that high at times, just not in this song.
@Shea Tiller I don't think Brad used full voice, definitely sounds like some head or all head voice. I'd bet both of these guys could hit those notes with pure head or mixed. A good monitor mix or stuffed up ears might be necessary though, if you can't hear your voice it's a crap shoot.
Came here just to hear Michael Sweet singing some Boston, but in the end this is probably one of the worst versions I've heard. This honestly sounds like a karaoke concert on a street corner in Oregon.
It was kinda ok for a while..then the singer replaced all the bad azz high notes with lame alternative notes. I ended it right there. Btw, there’s 8 billion people in the world, you couldn’t find a skinny frontman who doesn’t look like drunk Burton Cummings?

Complete karaoke performance. Sweet is terrible fit for Boston's music. He's a good singer but can't hit the high notes. He wisely didn't even attempt Brad's iconic scream on " She slipped away".
