When The Outer Worlds was announced, it felt like they were dunking on Bethesda. Now that the reviews are out, I think we can confirm. Obsidian dunked on Bethesda. Boom-shakalaka!
@John James Rambo I would have to agree just as there are hate trains there seems to be praise trains too but it’s a good game just nothing amazing or worth going nuts over I think it’s just because how Bethesda has gone well down hill
The game isn't phenomenal, it's just a bit above average, at least to me, but it's the message behind it all that people are taking from it. It's basically the people behind a Fallout classic stepping up and showing the world how to make a game in the wake of Bethesda going full retard.
John James Rambo I cant help but agree with John here, the game is highly overrated, as fun as I have with playing the game, I still can’t help but feel like it is missing a few links to the game that would make it feel ‘Perfect’, I agree with it being a good game, but it isn’t a perfect game, it’s fun, I’ve played through it for nearly 10-15 hours by now only after exploring three areas (yes, three whole areas, you will be doing a lot of back tracking), and trust me, it’ll take you way more then 10-15 hours
John James Rambo Oh no I totally understand, I’m going through my first play through right now and thought that maybe normal difficulty would still be rather difficult (considering it’s my first run with the game) - Come to find out it is rather easy to fight against AI if you just stick to a distance and pick them off by just headshotting them down to a certain amount of health before picking them off with either another shot from the same weapon, or to get up close to finish them off with another.. I do hear you with the ‘Unique Weapons’ that they have put in, though they are still the same gun models as to that of any other gun in the game, to say the HMG unique weapon I have looks exactly like the regular HMG that you’d find in a vending machine or on a dead body, though with a few minor tweaks to the gun to make it unique, it never felt like it was different from any of the other guns. The looting being chore is a major problem I have in this game, due to the fact that you can find damn near EVERYTHING in crates, bodies, or even just laying on the ground or on a table, their is too much loot to really be able to get a good feel for each item, health items and ammo along with bits are a major problem (especially all the health items.) Though it is a game for those who enjoy more of a dialogue driven storyline, i still can’t help but feel it does miss a lot of options that Fallout NV use to have, even though I am comparing these two as they are their own separate titles, they are easy to compare with dialogue, where as you said NV is a more serious tone, Outer worlds really does act like a more watered down NV/Bioshock, in my opinion of course. Although I enjoy it myself, it has its flaws
@@johnw8578 Big squishy ones you get to shoot with heavy weaponry. Oh, and yeah a couple minor program bugs as well I guess. Only issues I've run into involved some UI issues for loot off corpses (weird angles to trigger and sometimes straight refusing to display) and a crash when I left it on pause for a few hours to go get groceries then tried to resume (figure that was due to some combination of the autosave and my computer dumping data from the RAM since it was not being used for an extended period of time). That's been about it for me though.

@@steffithemad8327 when it comes to the smaller teams like WarHorse/Obsidian, I'm willing to give these guys slack. We gotta realize that these games aren't technically AAA titles, and they're small teams developing a middle market or at most AA title, competing against the "RDR2'S" of the industry. With all that said, I think they did a great job, especially with actually fixing issues post launch. WarHorse indeed did a great job in the end of all of it!
I love how depending on who's with you the dialogue is unique. Whoever gets along or doesn't with eachothet makes the journey so much better by changing all of the dialogue every time
@@JoeSkeen he is technically correct... most forms of system employed today by basically all the major power (even China and Russia) are basically capitalism... Grim Dawn, Victor Vran, Incredible Adventures of Van helsing and Path of Exile if you like hack and slash RPGs but don't want to give money to Lizzard's Diablo. if you like Turn and Real time strategy, Darkest Dungeon, Xcom series, Hard West, AirMechStrike, 8bit armies/hordes/invaders, Warparty, Act of Agression, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Dungeons 2 and 3. wow, that is a big list. Is this satisfactory?
I recommend it. The companions in this game are amazing, it's one of my favorite thing in the whole game. They're really acting like real persons, and they have role in the story, not just standing there like nothing happened. When I'm talking to someone, they join the conversation, share their opinion about things they hear, and they have their own special attacks. You're able to customize them, give them weapons, armor. They're learning new skills. Plus they all have their own quests (and sometimes they're trying to hide something they didn't want to share with you about these quests). The quests are really good, and not just the side quests, the main story is really good too. (I m not finished yet, doing side quests mostly, to increase my skills)
You're one of the sanest talkers/reviewers I've found. You don't just spout endless strings of clichés, you can actually think and come to conclusions that make logical sense, and you don't annoy me every few seconds. I thought so in the past and think so again now.
I really enjoyed this video. Felt like you had something to say, rather than a lot of other channels who just put a video out cause it’s a new game and that’s ‘what they do’
I knew I was in for something special when I came across the first major choice. I had to sacrifice the town or the deserter cam for a power cell. I was surprised when my companion asked me to spare the cannery she was basically enslaved too. I was under the impression that the game wanted me to sacrifice the town but it's nice too know that it's far deeper than telling you what you want to do like fallout 4 did
So many companies are doing that. Like who will buy rdr2 on Epic when the benefits are much better on rockstar social club. Same with Ubisoft games!! Epic is not thinking straight and throwing money without getting much benefit for that money and these companies are taking advantage of that. But its not just about that I think, companies like Ubisoft or Rockstar don't need those millions as bad but they are doing it to make a stand against Valve and Valve is being needlessly stubborn. They should bring down their take from 30% to something below 25% for ALL devs and reduce it further after a million or 10 million in sales as they already do and many big devs at least may stop going to Epic!

I'll take, "tight, detailed, and curated", over "massive, empty, and lonely." Game looks great, and Gamepass is the BEST value in gaming today. My Xbox X is ready.
Open worlds are rarely done justice. And everytime the bar is raised with them, it makes the open world games that came before feel like a chore to play. I think games like this and Metro Exodus prove that there is a happy medium where you've got the choice to roam but without being open for the sake of it and losing out on that tight cinematic nature.
You are right, like look at Zelda botw, good game still but the map felt so empty for how large it was. Just random deposits of gems out in the middle of nowhere and nothing else lol.
mastodonseven, the requirements for PC are irrelevant. The X is the best console to play on. Period. It drops 1-2 frames while fighting like 40 dudes at a time. The game is just fine on the X thanks.

I could tell the writing was brilliant because any time I loaded into an area with companions they would talk together and very often i would stop and turn back to them to listen to their conversations. Most times it was pretty funny others it was about a serious topic. And I LOVED that.

tbf ghost recon plays in a jungle
When The Outer Worlds was announced, it felt like they were dunking on Bethesda. Now that the reviews are out, I think we can confirm. Obsidian dunked on Bethesda. Boom-shakalaka!
@John James Rambo Opinions are opinions. That's fine if you feel like it is more middling or bad. Have a good one.
The looting being chore is a major problem I have in this game, due to the fact that you can find damn near EVERYTHING in crates, bodies, or even just laying on the ground or on a table, their is too much loot to really be able to get a good feel for each item, health items and ammo along with bits are a major problem (especially all the health items.)
Though it is a game for those who enjoy more of a dialogue driven storyline, i still can’t help but feel it does miss a lot of options that Fallout NV use to have, even though I am comparing these two as they are their own separate titles, they are easy to compare with dialogue, where as you said NV is a more serious tone, Outer worlds really does act like a more watered down NV/Bioshock, in my opinion of course. Although I enjoy it myself, it has its flaws
No bugs?
They arent using an ancient engine patched to oblivion and back because they are cheap on R&D unlike some development studios....
Oh there are bugs.
