The Outer Worlds is a very front-heavy game. That first main area you go to is awesome and feels like you could've handled it so many different ways. But the further in I got, the more I felt like the areas had less and less attention.
After Fallout New Vegas I imagine Todd Howard shouting "Obsidian built this in a cave, with a box of scraps!!!" As he's trying to figure out why it was better than anything they themselves made
Why...? New Vegas was almost done by Bethesda. They gave Obsidian full access to engine and Obsidian didn't make that many changes. Obsidian basically wrote passable story, made few new 3D models and spread it across new map. Bethesda can do that without Obsidian.

Maybe there isn't but they left it moddable. That way PS4 version might end up being the only one with no mod for helmets and many other things. This is Microsoft, don't put it past them.

NV runs absolutely fine for me on PC - I got a copy dirt cheap on Steam about a year ago. I always used to play it on my Xbox. That said, I'd still buy a remaster. I'd love to see the shooting mechanics modernised so they don't feel like crap and a graphics overhaul so the whole world isn't two shades of brown.

Same. I quit Destiny 2 after giving it a go as a free to play game because I felt like it would never end, and it was already becoming repetitive. I hate the idea that every game needs to be 100+ hours.
Even Alpha Protocol was good. Pillars of Eternity was great as well since it was a totally new IP and they created it from the ground up and it has great lore, world building, and content.
Kotor 2 shipped unfinished, NV as well. Great games but when they're given full opportunity to make a great game we've seen what they are capable of. Love em.

I am loving this game but I really wish it was easier to pick up individual items on the ground (not in chests or lockers). Also, I REALLY wish you could set games like this to always pick up money and ammo. Why would you ever not want those things?
I think the devs really let the writers have so much fun. The dialogue is fantastic, and the character attitudes are unique and often hilarious. I’ve laughed a lot so far, in a game that’s also serious about strategy. It’s a perfect mix! I would recommend to everyone. Furthermore, the game seems overwhelming in the beginning and it doesn’t care. I love that. It almost says “play me again, you’ll have more fun the second time.” 9/10, just buy it. I promise, it should have you cracking up. It feels like an updated Fallout 3, where the story writers were given the reins and told “just do you.” Get it!

Only bug I've seen so far is an audio bug that may just be chalked up to performance since my specs aren't crazy up to date, but it's seriously great! Pick it up
I got a trial $1 3month XGP subscription. It runs pretty well and quite optimized. Running on my low-mid range PC, it runs fairly stable at 50-60fps @ 1080p on Ultra settings. i5 3570k, RX 580, 16GB RAM It hovers 60% CPU usage and 100% GPU usage. I'll buy the game on Switch when it comes out (to support the devs).
One thing I wonder is if Obsidian gets annoyed that this will inevitably be compared to New Vegas or if they view that game as their story-telling benchmark and are proud of the comparisons.

Another good RPG this year. Tfw games with moderate budgets are better RPG than pretentious AAA titles. When I heard Fallout NV creators are back with 1st person RPG, I knew Bethesda was on suicide watch lol. Also IGN and Gamespot (Lol) upload their reviews a day before but your reviews and Easy Allies are only ones I trust.

@@kyaramerukingu2436 After playing Outer Worlds for a while, I would say they are both very skills and perks focused, as well as lots of dialogue options. Additionally, party members with certain skills and perks play roles both in the world and in certain encounters with NPCs. Stat building and role playing are a big part. KOTOR 2 was a third person strategy-ish combat game, while Outer Worlds is merely 1st person with shooting mechanics
I’ve been playing this game since it went on Game Pass last Friday and I have to say, I love it! So enjoyable, excellent graphics and some great missions. I particularly like the crew missions, where you get to know a little more about you’re crews lives and back story.
Thanks for this review. I was a little apprehensive buying this but your review gave me confidence I knew what I was buying and I’m loving it so far. As an aside, I liked the non-open world. I haven’t felt constrained so far and it sort of reminded me of the way the original kotor managed a variety of maps and worlds just on a grander scale.
On gamepass, I wonder about that. It is way cheaper for a consumer, but this is Obsidian's real chance to shine independently and they seem to have done great, so I kinda feel bad just getting gamepass instead of paying full price and supporting the devs.

To each their own though, if you want better graphics then that's good, but I prefer portability. Sylvester Kelly this game’s definitely really good. If you loved Fallout: NV and you’ve been dying for a game like that and you’ve been as disappointed with Bethesda as...well, everyone; you’ll like this game. It’s definitely not as big in scale as Fallout 4 and the gunplay leaves a bit to be desired, but that’s to be expected with a smaller studio like Obsidian backing this project and the richness of the world really makes up for those shortcomings because the world really does feel like it’s lived-in and not just made for you to become a living-god.
I've been playing using an Xbox One playing offline using the modern button layout since launch, and have never un-holstered my weapon when tapping or holding the action button to initiate dialogue with an NPC or opening a door, or hacking or pick locking.
I first subscribed to your channel in 2017 after I saw your amazing review of Nier Automata. Skipped the IGN review for Outer Worlds and came right over to you. Keep it up ACG, you're the best!

There's no getting around it. This game is 'New Vegas' in space without the sandbox. And it works! The writing is impeccable.

Same. I quit Destiny 2 after giving it a go as a free to play game because I felt like it would never end, and it was already becoming repetitive. I hate the idea that every game needs to be 100+ hours.

I just hope there's good replay value. 40 hours can easily turn into 160 depending on the different options for the main story.

Even Alpha Protocol was good. Pillars of Eternity was great as well since it was a totally new IP and they created it from the ground up and it has great lore, world building, and content.

I am loving this game but I really wish it was easier to pick up individual items on the ground (not in chests or lockers). Also, I REALLY wish you could set games like this to always pick up money and ammo. Why would you ever not want those things?
Hey man just wanted to say this is my first time checking out your channel and I really appreciate how you review.
I think the devs really let the writers have so much fun. The dialogue is fantastic, and the character attitudes are unique and often hilarious. I’ve laughed a lot so far, in a game that’s also serious about strategy. It’s a perfect mix! I would recommend to everyone.
Furthermore, the game seems overwhelming in the beginning and it doesn’t care. I love that. It almost says “play me again, you’ll have more fun the second time.”
9/10, just buy it. I promise, it should have you cracking up. It feels like an updated Fallout 3, where the story writers were given the reins and told “just do you.” Get it!

I have done some of these quests shown in this video but I never saw that
a box of ammo was floating, that was the ONLY bug I saw after finishing the game with 38 hours of gameplay
Only bug I've seen so far is an audio bug that may just be chalked up to performance since my specs aren't crazy up to date, but it's seriously great! Pick it up
I got a trial $1 3month XGP subscription.
It runs pretty well and quite optimized. Running on my low-mid range PC, it runs fairly stable at 50-60fps @ 1080p on Ultra settings.
i5 3570k, RX 580, 16GB RAM
It hovers 60% CPU usage and 100% GPU usage.
I'll buy the game on Switch when it comes out (to support the devs).

One thing I wonder is if Obsidian gets annoyed that this will inevitably be compared to New Vegas or if they view that game as their story-telling benchmark and are proud of the comparisons.

its cause obsidian was acquired by microsoft recently, so thats why other ones are up like elder scrolls oblivion as well, i think because its owned by microsoft now, it may be there to stay up with game pass as well, just like the forza games

Another good RPG this year. Tfw games with moderate budgets are better RPG than pretentious AAA titles. When I heard Fallout NV creators are back with 1st person RPG, I knew Bethesda was on suicide watch lol.
Also IGN and Gamespot (Lol) upload their reviews a day before but your reviews and Easy Allies are only ones I trust.

@@kyaramerukingu2436 After playing Outer Worlds for a while, I would say they are both very skills and perks focused, as well as lots of dialogue options. Additionally, party members with certain skills and perks play roles both in the world and in certain encounters with NPCs. Stat building and role playing are a big part. KOTOR 2 was a third person strategy-ish combat game, while Outer Worlds is merely 1st person with shooting mechanics
I’ve been playing this game since it went on Game Pass last Friday and I have to say, I love it! So enjoyable, excellent graphics and some great missions. I particularly like the crew missions, where you get to know a little more about you’re crews lives and back story.
Thanks for this review. I was a little apprehensive buying this but your review gave me confidence I knew what I was buying and I’m loving it so far.
As an aside, I liked the non-open world. I haven’t felt constrained so far and it sort of reminded me of the way the original kotor managed a variety of maps and worlds just on a grander scale.
On gamepass, I wonder about that. It is way cheaper for a consumer, but this is Obsidian's real chance to shine independently and they seem to have done great, so I kinda feel bad just getting gamepass instead of paying full price and supporting the devs.
This is also coming to the Switch in the future (as they stated "after all other platforms").
That's gonna dry up soon as the switch won't be able to handle next gen games and it's resold remade and ported to death everything else
@@WASD-MVME this comment makes no sense, so how is the Witcher 3 on the switch? I have a PS4 and a Switch and I'll be getting it for the switch. To each their own though, if you want better graphics then that's good, but I prefer portability. Obsidian sees the plus of porting it to the switch and confident that they won't drop the ball like EA

Same, the humor falls flat, I think it’s ugly, the skills/perks are boring, combat sucks…it just wasn’t very fun to play. Very disappointing.
People really view anything Obsidian does with rose-tinted glasses. This game was simply not fun to play.

If you loved Fallout: NV and you’ve been dying for a game like that and you’ve been as disappointed with Bethesda as...well, everyone; you’ll like this game.
It’s definitely not as big in scale as Fallout 4 and the gunplay leaves a bit to be desired, but that’s to be expected with a smaller studio like Obsidian backing this project and the richness of the world really makes up for those shortcomings because the world really does feel like it’s lived-in and not just made for you to become a living-god.

Ive been tempted to look into this game. Seemed pretty interesting personally. Especially with the Xbox and getting access to it with the Gamepass

I've been playing using an Xbox One playing offline using the modern button layout since launch, and have never un-holstered my weapon when tapping or holding the action button to initiate dialogue with an NPC or opening a door, or hacking or pick locking.
Why does the sun only shine on the NPCs ears?
