    Really liking the build so far! I wasn't expecting the giraffes to work so well there.
    As for suggestions for future additions to this zoo.... I feel like the other half of the dome could work well for a little cafe or info stand. It could also act as a meeting point for people, so you could make a little lounge type area for people to sit and wait for their friends to arrive at the zoo... or where they can start to plan out their day. In terms of areas of the zoo... I feel like a big baobab grove is kind of inevitable. It could look really cool. Another possibility: Predator canyon. Have it more enclosed and rocky, and open up into side-canyons with some of the African carnivores. Of course it would have tunnels and caves and maybe an underground river...? I dunno. I'm just thinking lots of rocks and twisty paths, and maybe lots of little viewpoints instead of broad overlooks.

    They should add types of less common guests who have crutches, wheelchairs, etc, that say something if they can't get to a path level so zoos can be more realistic and have either multi level like you did, a detour, or ramp. I think it would add an extra layer of realism to this game.

    • @artgal6818
      @artgal6818 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree! Several of my friends are handicapable and need ramps, elevators or other accommodations to get around. I personally always make ramps in my zoos, avoiding steps, but it would be something interesting if it was an actual game mechanic.

    17:00 I heard that cats actually will not jump over/on something if it's at a 45 degree angle. It tricks them into thinking they won't make it, so they don't try. Perhaps that's why those bars were facing inwards?

    The poles that angle back over the fence are seen in a lot of big cat enclosures with horizontal bars connecting them because the big cats can climb chain-link fence but they can't bend back to climb out over those

    Love it, when I was in South Africa I did actually notice that even the plains areas are actually very lush. And anywhere near waters was like bright green almost jungle. This would be a great park to add a bridged exhibit - two main areas connected by a bridge over the path for animals to get across. Normally it's done with big cats, but one of my local zoo's does a bridge for their zebras, ostriches, and giraffes (which share an exhibit) over a tunnel for people to cross from their tropical African section to their savanna/Madagascan lemur section.

  • @sumimuse
    @sumimuse 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could always put another habitat on the other side.... Or you could make that half of the dome into a "shopping mall" with the food stalls. Outside you could always make that blank area into a courtyard with benches and such. The Giraffe enclosure and habitat looks awesome. Love the dome sleeping area. In the small areas, you could make a small step fountain with foliage and rocks. Bring some movement and water elements into the build.

    Since you are in Sandbox, it might be worth it to place an employee for size reference. In Black Rock a common issue was that the guest attractions were too large (i.e. the NA pottery being too high for them to realistically see). The employee would allow you to see where they would go up to for certain props and make adjustments from there

    Beautiful! The feeding station reminds me of the Binder Park Zoo, used to hang out there with my grandpa and feed the giraffes all the time. For making kaleidoscope lighted roofing you want the new world spotlight for a more intense coloring to reflect off the glass(great for making rainbows and other color spectrum style lights) The new world path light 4 is better for a more diffused coloring that you can sort of layer by varying the heights, letting you do a speckled sort of variation.

    Those inward facing poles on the fence for big cats usually have fencing following the angle. It's to prevent them jumping and climbing out since the steep angle tends to put them off climbing and jumping over it.

  • @juuljansbeken

    your giraffe exhibit having being more lush actually makes a lot of sense as giraffes naturally need the higher trees to feed from. I live in the coastal area of south africa and giraffes don't come down here because of the lack taller trees, they naturally stay in areas with more plantlife :)

Working on my African zoo now too, and your zoos always bring so much inspiration - Thinking about making a building like the two you made but having a path go around it on the inside on the second floor (let's see if I can get the path to work with me for that) and making the inside a big habitat
    >>> Little tip, if you press the Ctrl key while placing a path, it doesn't link up immediately to another path (like at 37:20) :)

    so this would be good to add later on but here's an idea:
    ik you said that there wiont be any tropical animals (or at least I think you said) but if your gonna bring in atleast one tropical animal heres what the habitat could be...
    a medium sized area surrounded by hills, inside the is a water hole in the centre and a lush rainforest ecosystem inside, therefore walking into this habitat feels like traveling through a portal into a complete new world
    the guests go through a inclosed rainforest walk along side the hill and winds around one side of the habitat and ends on the opposite side of the area (opposite side from the entrance)
    the entrance makes guests go through a small but amazing looking cave (maybe with exibit animals inside) and the exit makes quest walk under a misty water fall
    as for what animal is in this exibit is your choice, it really depends on how big you make the exibit
    so there's my idea, hope you like it, oh and if you need a name for it you could call it 'The Hidden Oasis'

  • @CendaquentaBooks

    Suggestion: maybe do an Egyptian-themed exhibit for one of the animals? Perhaps the hippo, since it'll probably have papyrus in the exhibit with it being a water plant, and obviously papyrus is strongly associated with the ancient Egyptians.
    Also, about the inward-facing poles - they're for stopping dangerous animals like big cats from climbing over fences, I believe.

  • @TitanKaiju75
    @TitanKaiju75 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know you mentioned you wanted to do something to make the one-way glass in your Giraffe Enclosure look a bit more interesting, and I was thinking maybe you could add some Africa-style trimming along the top of the guest side of the glass wall? ^_^ Perhaps use some of the trimming you used for detailing on the Giraffe House to keep the aesthetic consistent?

    Can you or have you saved that dome for others use? It’s absolutely brilliant and I’d love to plop it into one of my sandbox zoos!

    If you want some great info on how to design some of the exhibits google Kruger National park. It'll give you some idea of the habitats our wildlife lives in

    The wood pillars you added to the metal fence, you said you saw it to a jaguar habitat and then they have a purpose, cats cant climbe on 45 steep overhang, and they probably have some electric fence going from the overhang also :) So its for security. But i really like how you use it also :) And the habitat in generel :D

    The wall around the first garden and the feeding table are as tall as the people and it is so frustrating!!!XD But other than that this is amazing so far!! Like DAMN this is pretty!!

    My local zoo has a path area with blue swirls and lines representing water in a river and has water based animals along it and explains the importance a river has to an environment and I think you could do that for some of the beginning path like with hippos or Buffalos

    While you probably can’t do it for this exhibit, most fantasy world have some large magical creature usually shown for majesty, kind of like those big sauropod robots from Horizon: Zero Dawn. It could be cool if you could do that for a giraffe or elephant exhibit later on, maybe with some kind of magical glowing forest
    Also, make a massive huge green peaceful valley full of many different species like ostriches, zebras and wildebeest with massive herds

    Are there plans for a transport ride that goes between different areas within the park? That is pretty critical for a large zoo like you have planned to function well in PZ
