I figured my pronunciation was wrong but nobody is telling me the right way aha - how is it meant to be said?

You nailed "Die Aarde" but I'll try to give you some tips on how to pronounce "se rand" better:
The "e" in "se" should be pronounced like you're saying "uh" but quicker > (like when you say "uuuhm...., Uhhhh" when you don't know what to say). Don't drag it out, just say "suh".
"Rand" was okay, just roll the "R" a little bit more (not too much) and say the "a" part like you say the "u" part in "punch" (notice it sounds a bit like a very short "ahh").
The way you said "rand" in the video is only spoken that way in English when you're talking about our currency, the Rand. 😂 Yes, "rand" has two completely different meanings in Afrikaans. In Afrikaans, "Rand" is pronounced the same way whether you're talking about the currency or the edge of something.

Meerkats would fit so perfectly in the middle bit with the baobab tree! I hope we get them in a dlc, they are a zoo staple! But the tortoise would work well in there

I think you can do a lot with a seperate tropical zoo. But adding the desert animals I think is a good idea.
Asia taiga and temperate fits being combined as well.
A few thoughts: First, I like the idea of including desert animals in this zoo, but I feel like the tropical animals (and the plants!) wouldn't cope too well with the sun and aridity. I just feel like the biomes are a bit too different.
I'm glad you've decided to use Sandbox. While the Franchise idea was cool, in the end it didn't turn out to be practical, and for the zoo you're making this makes much more sense. (Are you going to keep animal births/aging on? Maybe slow their lifespan down so they stick around for a while?)
Finally: I like the idea of including an animal in the dome. I don't know about elephants or giraffes... If you did those, you'd need a really wide opening because of their traversable area constraints, and I just feel like they won't use the space very effectively. My vote is for a smaller animal, hopefully one that's not too shy in front of crowds. And I like the idea of using the other side for a sort of restaurant area and maybe an info kiosk.
On the whole, it's looking great so far! I'm very excited for this zoo, and I look forward to seeing many geometric, fantastical, and circular elements in the future! :)
Kinda surprised the African leopard isn't in the game, one thing I was thinking of from the very start. Of the 'big cats' lion's, cheetah's, and leopard's are some of the first things people think of. Either way I do hope there are more animal DLC's for this game, maybe adding the leopard and some of the smaller cat species like bobcat, lynx, serval and caracal for some small predators.
Anyway this first video is great, and I was thinking for the animal in the dome that maybe you could have made the middle part a part of the exhibit, like if there was a small animal you could put in there. My first thought was a small lizard but those are all exhibit animals. And the only other small animal for this zoo would be the aardvark and im sure it wouldn't be too happy lol. I would definitely say put the exhibit animal and shops in there too, but thats just me.
I think it would be wonderful if the tropical trail was a circular(not necessarily a perfect circle) path around an oasis. A water feature with lush vegetation would be a fitting contrast for the Savannah/desert parts of the park. I think it would make sense to have a central part to the tropical area so it spreads out into the Savannah.
Disguise the entrance with a basic train station, and have the "train" stop directly inside the dome so guests exit the train directly inside the dome

This portion looks like northern Sudan in the Nuban mountains.
I think you HAVE TO build an exhibit of the Sudd for crocs and hippos. The Sudd is a vast flooded swampland in south Sudan that is comprised of floating vegetation in the floodplains of the white nile. It is a ramsar protected site but is threatened due to human development. It deserves a spotlight

Definitely off to a good start! Love the natural lighting in there. Maybe bring in the springbok or Thomson's Gazelle into the dome? They are both walk in habitat animals, so you could just have them wandering in and out with the guests... though they are shy so not sure how you'd work in enough privacy for them.
~3:58 One useful tool for making a dome is the African theme mud column/pillar. It is the only column/pillar that's fixed to the grid. Put it in the middle, spin everything around it, and delete it at the end. In case you want to build more domes in the future :)
I think that the Aardvark would feel great inside of the dome.

I would probably fill in the part between the pathways by putting down patches of soil (not sure what their exact name is in the game but I mean the ones that are used in the gardening pots), line it all with a fence and then add the plants. I feel like the patches look nice when used in nature scenes that are clearly meant to be man made, they make things look neat.

Love the new zoo ideas and the dome is awesome. I agree with some of the other comments put desert and grassland together and tropical separate. Safari train would be a great addition as well. As soon as you said central area in dome thought of monkeys in there. Could make area bigger having only one of those paths. What ever you do will look great.

I was thinking that the inside of the dome should be exhibit animals...its a perfect spot to put a bunch of those kind of glass cages, since they'd be in cover and out of the hot sun, and would be a nice introduction to the park. Some shops would be good as well, to catch people's money on the way in (and especially) on the way out. Gift shops by the entrance/exit are a VERY common thing at real world zoos, since they can hit people as they enter for stuff like refillable cups/water bottles, and then people can do their shopping before going home for the day.
As for condensing all of Africa into one zoo...YES. It would make sense too...if you look at an area like the Congo basin, that massive jungle leads into both desert and grasslands as it blends out, so it makes a lot of sense for Africa to be split up. Plus, you could do a dry area to the "north" for the desert animals, keep the grassland as the "west/southwest" of the zoo, and make an area in the "east" for the tropics/Congo river jungle. This kind of thing does work too...Busch Gardens Tampa is set up in a similar way, where the grassland/desert animals are in a huge grassland park (which is visitable through the train and also a paid truck tour that includes feedings), the apes are in a very jungle-esque area, and the big cats also have a few jungle zones (other than the lions, who are right next to the grassland, and the Cheetahs, who have an odd enclosure that's surrounded by the Cheetah Hunt coaster...they also have a hidden cage area where they spend most of their time other than around shows, just to keep them a little less stressed due to the noise of the coaster running constantly..the last time I went there I had the privilege of going INSIDE of that enclosure for a demonstration with an African Hornbill bird that basically flew at my face and landed just behind my head, so I got a good idea of how the Cheetahs get to live when out of the public eye).
Just a thought but all of the habitats could be either circles or have the backstage in the middle of two half or four quarter circle habitats so from the air you keep that look of a whole heap of circles everywhere. Could also do the desert and grasslands as a large safari ride through which would limit the number of habitats needed. I like the idea of all African in one, tropical should be centered around a large feature, a big waterfall possibly? Excited for this series 😁

I think it would be cool to add all the African sections together, kind of like you're exploring all of Africa on this big safari tour.
( Now I dont know how you plan to spread and place that habitats but ) maybe from the entrance there is three main paths that go to each respective section of grassland, desert, and tropical (and then they branch and eventually all connect), but then there is also right at the beginning there is a jeep tour option that starts at grassland and goes though or passed the different animals, moves into the desert section, then into tropical, then ends at the rotunda entrance.
Either way, I can't wait to see how this zoo turns out!!!

Awesome can’t wait for this zoo! At the Cleveland zoo in Ohio they have elephants and loins right in front. Plus a rainforest house just outside the entrance (pay separate of course lol)

I think that one big African zoo would be cool because think of the slight thematic changes he could do, like have the grassland as safari, then the jungle trail could kinda be like Jumanji-themed, and as someone else said, you could use the monorail or sky-track to connect themes. And at the very least, the desert and grassland should be combined. He is very imaginative, and whatever he chooses will be done very well, and I'm still gonna watch. Also, it might get us to the mega zoo a bit quicker.
I think combining all those African zoos would be really cool.
Really nice build, how about filling those spaces with very low walls with water in the centre, maybe some lillies n plants in there?

So you don’t have to break the dome you could put a non-dangerous animal around the edges of the whole thing and use a sky bridge over the entrance and exit

I suggest that either for this zoo or for the African Desert one that you do an exhibit or area that is in a pyramid. My idea was an eating or rest area with the puff adder in there also acting as a shelter for one of the habitat animals.

You should definitely put African desert in this zoo! It's only 3 habitats, so you can't really make a separate park for that... 🤭
I feel like this is probably going to be your biggest zoo besides the central one, especially with animals like elephants, giraffes and lions present
For the lions exhibit you eventually do, you should definitely do a pride rock theme for it
Africa is mainly Savanna and bushveld with some forest here and there. The main place for desert is up north in Egypt and in Namibia
BIS You should put some Nile Monitors into the centre piece. create a little cave thing inside the rock formation and a bit water pool at the bottom near the big baobab and itll be the perfect nile monitor habitat
I think you can field the gaps with fountains that would be so cool and please make the zoo a safari or add other transports such as gondola and etc please ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

You could always do African Grassland with most of the animals in one big habitat, then smaller habitats around it straight out of the dome; then African Tropical on the left the same setup; then African Desert on the right.

I would have the painted dogs in that area that can walk above the path or maybe even add a tortoise in the center
just considering how different the ground types look for all the climates, especially between grasslands and tropical, i would prefer seperate zoos. it would also allow for more cohesion in the theme because certain things would just look off translated to tropical africa. it might end up looking like a savannah type zoo and a tropical zoo with wrong soil slapped next to it, you know? nothing beats seeing the animals on their homeground imho.
i also love the theme ideas you have. with smaller zoos you could experiment some more and probably prevent getting bored or burning out doing a similar thing for weeks?
Could use inspiration (very loosely) from Chester. The Elephants are at the from but gift shop and elephant house/smaller animals are found before the ticket gate where your tickets are checked and you fully enter the zoo. Could add 2 (with long) or 4 (quartered space) animals in the entrance building before you go into the 'real' zoo

I think so. But Afrikaans is basically Dutch. Because south Africa was taken by the dutch.

Afrikaans is grammarly simplified, a Dutch person can understand an South African person, but to speak it you got to learn how they build their sentences, Dutch people overcomplicate it (my mums african and im dutch so when i spend a lot of time with african family, i can semi speak it) hope it clears some up?
Afrikaans is or was a trading language in the 1600s (I think that's the era), so it's based off of Dutch but has strong elements of French, Spanish, German, English and a 1 or 2 other languages.
It's basically the street side special language.
You guys are somewhat correct, but also wrong. Afrikaans was formed mainly from Dutch (which is why they sound and look similar, I can even read Dutch), but also in combination with local tribal languages and other trading countries to communicate while trading, and later to confuse British colonizers. It’s not a ‘street special’, ‘deformed’ or just a ‘simplified version’ of Dutch, but a whole language and culture on its own.

Imma put suggestions for each African Animal I can think of! We NEED a lion named Mufasa- That auto corrected to Midas- but Midas is a cool lion name too! How about for a Hippo- Kongo! Like the Kongo river? For a meerkat- Uhh How about Timon or Peeks? I know it’s a tree, but Baoba sounds like a cool name for a warthog!

Me, me, Im South African!! And you make me sound horrible for being so :\ but I can't be mad at you, I know you don't mean to say that. Love that dome, it's looking great! I think you should make a hide for ann exhibit! I tried and kind of got it to work, see if you can find pictures of kwaMsinga hide from uMkhuze Game Reserve. It's a really nice little addition that wont take you long. You could put Nyala in it, the reserve is famous for them

This is just some person opinion from someone who is studying animal and zoo management for a college degree
Try and have more elevations in the enclosures (a bit like Marwell zoo where the path wraps round the Cheetah enclosure) it looks really cool
i think the baobab is way too small comparing to the size of the dome, i think you should try and make a "fake" one (by putting several ones), just making it thicker! love it thooo

Hey BIS! Why don’t you do a waterfall where your guests enter? Like a choke point where they have to step and it looks quite literally the edge of the world. Kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean where they fall off the edge of the world
