At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.
Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.
Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.
So we want to hear your thoughts. Hit us up in the comments, or on Instagram and Facebook.
We’d love nothing more than for you to give us as much feedback as possible, so we can make this channel the best it can be.

My mom is on her 3rd RX. In 23 years of buying them, she's never had a single issue, but all 4 of the Audis I've owned in the last 7 yrs have either needed a major repair included but not limited to (new turbos, supercharger or new engine) & it didn't matter if they were new or used.
Needless to say when I switched to Lexus a little while ago I still find myself a little schocked but very relieved every morning when I start it up & nothing goes wrong.
Yes Toyota is more reliable than VW.
Ha ha that's actually funny re starting every morning,.....
Welcome to Japanese cars 🤭
Another sucker who helped pay for his mechanics house extension. It took 4 cars for the penny to drop? Deary me.
Same. Our family currently have 3x Lexus, RX, and 2x NX. The one NX had a fuel pump failure, well known Toyota problem that was recalled, just don’t know why this model (2016) wasn’t recalled while all the others did, the pump cost quite a bit of money spending over $2500 (Mandela land). Never had any issues with the other two in the last 7-8 years, just regular maintenance. My own Volvo xc90 D5 SPA on the other hand, something goes wrong every 5-6 months, warranty has spent over $20k in repairs, new twin turbo, egr, alternator, oil leak, some parts for transmission, infotainment, seats, and many more…. Doesn’t even drive as nice as the Lexus.
I purchased a well maintained 2004 LS 430 with nearly 300000 kms on the clock. The best car I have ever driven. Just can’t fault it.
good choice better than those euro shit boxes
That’s the only Lexus I would buy over and over again. The rest are honestly just expensive Toyotas

Agreed. Lexus/Toyota that are Made in Japan are the way to go
Rear wheel drive & V8 what's not to like. Euro cars are for a good time , not a long time. The youngest guy at the Lexus plant has been there 20 + years.
Brand new, the Euros are class leading. When warranty runs out, Lexus shines. That's just how it is
Many euros have problems in warranty,
That's a low bar. All cars are good brand new. Euros are hot garbage end of the day.
I always describe my NX as a RAV4 in a pretty dress. Don't see why that's often seen a negative? All the reliability of a RAV, but nicer. My 2017 has 100k now and anyone who gets in it thinks it's brand new still.
Also, shout out to Lexus sales and customer service. I'm a fairly "common" looking guy, and at no point have i ever experienced pretentiousness or felt judged by them.
what do you mean by common looking? Income?
@@drsrsv8884plain clothes, regular shoes those kind of things probably.
Scott, do you still have the '17 NX, and how many miles now? My mom has a 2020 NX 300 luxury with only 20,000 miles. Mechanics say turbo engines won't last as long, but hopefully you get 300,000 or more miles outta yours!
@@MA-sz5xvI put a lot of ks on mine and am up to 135k now. Still haven't needed to fix anything at all outside of routine maintenance.
Lexus infotainment is an absolute nightmare initially but after a while you get used to it. Believe it or not after having the car for a while you actually prefer it over touch screens.
i personally hate the ghetto computer mouse system on the previous gen its so clunky and annoying to use. Appreciate the analogue clock though, I hate clocks that are hidden inside the infotainment screen or the gauge cluster i just want a big easy to find clock near the climate controls just like every other car
I have now owned a 2023 NX350h sports luxury for just over 3 months now and my driving style is like I stole it. Hybrid is amazing and quick despite the CVT. The infotainment now has a 14 inch (yes it's massive) touch screen instead of the track pad thank gawd. Tan interior and full size sunroof. All in all, this thing is bulletproof.
Only thing, no spare tyre😮
And zero ambiant lights pitty on the Japanese weirdos always years behind...bit the reliability is the best in the business 😂
I have the 2021 Nx and I think it is fantastic. Definitely better than the German competitors in my opinion!
Best Review ever, looking towards buying NX in an older model and also having the mechanic talking is a great idea. 👍👍👍👍👍
We have a 2021 NX300 F sport with 30 K. This my wife’s car. I had a 2022 RX350 F Sport. We prefer driving the NX so we sold the NX after 12 months. We are now retired and mostly cope with just the single vehicle
I do prefer driving with the Sports + modes selected, as the car is much more responsive, especially the steering.
The heated front seats are ideal for geriatric hamstrings. The seats are very comfortable. We have got used to the trackpad.
We need to consult the manual frequently, and find the deep dive videos by a lady in Texas (I think) very helpful in explaining the myriad of features, and how to configure them.
We drove a number Volvos over the years, several 240s, two 740s, and 2 940s. They were serviced regularly, and handed down to family at around 250 K.
Safe, comfortable, reliable and good value with the Volvos, and we expect the same with our Lexus NX 300 F Sports.
Our base model was bought during Covid for $61k drive away. After 50k kms it’s been the best car purchase ever. Moved from a MB to this & never going back. Likely to hand the car over to our daughter in 4 yrs time as this will be the perfect first car. Nice review btw.
Wow what nice parents you guys are ! One heck of a first car
Jim made me laugh! Awesome vid you guys, great content. In fact, very VALUABLE content. 🍻
Yep that review pretty much nailed it. Well done gentlemen.
I have a Lexus RC350 F-Sport 2015. Still drives like a dream and looks amazing 8 years later. I would love to see you review it. I'm based in Sydney.
10:22 so bloody true. ReDriven keeping it real as always. Love your work. Actually, if you wanted to have a go at car review wierd stuff, you should do a segment on trying to fit a water dispenser bottle into door pockets...
You convinced me man to get one of these, I tell you man, your humour is unmatched.
Love this guy and his reviews!
Here for the NX review, stayed for the bloopers. Smashing stuff mate!
love the review as always
Very good review, thanks!
Bought a 2015 is350 after watching a few videos of yours, now have this model on my radar for the missus, thanks guys, you're absolutely legends!
Does it have direct injection? I heard it can have carbon build up issue?
@@stinkydice7100 the 2gr-fse in my car and I believe in all 2gr engines have direct AND port injection, thus no carbon build up issues with these engines.
Good idea! I did the same, I’m driving IS 300h and my lady has NX 300h. Both of us are very happy with the cars :)
Great Video! Test drove a 2021 NX300h in the US today. The 2021 X3 I drove last week was awesome but $6000 more and you German with German priced service. So the NX doesn’t have a “live cockpit pro” or rear seat a/c or a panorama roof. This one does have a sunroof, and a sweet and better sounding JBL stereo with only 8 speakers va BMW 12 speakers. My Mercedes was totaled last week, sadly, but moving forward with NX 300h. I put money down to hold it! This video helped affirm my decision!
There is no contest here at all!!
Just go right ahead & buy the Lexus any day of the week. As a mechanic in Melbourne this thing trumps anything the euros in every single way possible!! If you value your money this is what you would buy. Only a complete badge snob would buy a euro SUV ahead of this.
I literally just bought a 2019 NX because of this video, loving it!
Driving a NX200t 2017 Sports Luxury for over an year. Smooth as silk and I'd say fun to drive! As mentioned downside is the outdated infotatement.
Another brilliant video! Still waiting patiently for the F22 M240i 🥺🥺
Love this review as I’ve been wanting to see your take on it. This car is now top of my list when I sell my car. Nice work! Keep it up 👍🏻
Hi Adam. Love your reviews.
I have a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq sportline. If your looking to review one. And the car had a huge accident before I bought it. All fixed now.
I’m in the Blue Mountains.
You guys have a great channel. Keep up the good work :)
i remember seeing this exact one in the showroom, i was considering to buy the exact one in the review but didn't have the cash yet and didnt like the red interior, ended up getting an f sport. This one in the review was fully decked out, remembered that it had all the enhancement packs and all of the features. Kind of regret not getting this car, was cheaper than the f sport as well, packed with so many more useful features.
The red and black seats are ugly AF
I have 2015 NX hybrid... love it and had NO issues. My next car will be a NX or RX.
I like to see the same review for RX. Great video as always mate btw
Another great video! Subbed
Hi Redriven, Would be able to at some stage review the lexus ct200 f sport hatchback. thanks
one of your best videos yet!
Jim's part had me dying 🤣🤣
and cheers to Adam's dad for doing the voice-over XD
I stick to Lexus since 2003 gone through 8 currently owned 2 RX450H and my baby NX300H they’re the king or reliability, durability and pure comfort. A poor man Royce Rolls❤️
Anyone that has been bitten by owning a euro will definitely be looking at a Lexus
It’s sad that a) these Euros that often drive phenomenally haven’t figured out a way to make their drivetrains as reliable as this and b) that at least in the Australian market, we’re stuck with Lexus as the sole reliable Japanese luxury marque. Genesis looks promising off the back of Hyundai’s success, but I’d be much more keen to drive a luxury Mazda or Honda (Acura) than a soft sprung, one gen behind interior Toyota.
I loved my Mercedes over the 9 years I had it but I'm also never, ever owning another German car again, like ever.
@@User-cb4jmgood luck with the rattling in mazda or the drivetrain issue with acura
@@User-cb4jm Its by design, They can make car to last 500k without probs but then biz suffers.
Ppl already love spending money on Germans
yep, my mum got bitten HARD by a brand new lemon GLC250d that wouldnt start 1 year in with equally horrible customer service and is now a full lexus convert
I'm looking to buy a Lexus nx300 and your video most definitely got me more excited 😊 I have been driving a Toyota solara convertible for 13 years and still running good but its time for rest. You are a delight to watch.....awesome video 👍thank you
Sold my Evo 9 and bought NX300 … it’s so comfortable drive . And 00 problems ❤️❤️
I just purchased one too a 2017 Lexus NX200t and I agree with you the seats are the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat on. The interior design is elegant and stunning.
Why not the hybrid? Big mistake.
Looking to get the same trim and car. How do you like it so far? Any major issues?
@DanielPerez-mw4nn
Don't.
Be a good person and go for the hybrid.
Please do the Lexus LX next👍🏼
been looking for your opinions on this for a while! as a 19 and 21 owner (f sports, gas/petrol, Canadian!) fit and finish are absolutely stuperb. performance is actually up a good bit for the 21 from the 19 due to some updated engine mapping (as per what i was told) and 93 premium fuel. it does ask you if it needs to go when you floor it, but it goes after asking. suspension is on the firmer side, but i appreciate the confidence if i need to punch a corner. interior is done really well since i enjoy tactile buttons. infotainment took a second to get used to, but easy once you take a second to learn it. the sound system is a massive upgrade over the standard sound package. though i would love a smidge more trunk space, its only on those days where my family travels. its also helped while i was in a splint after surgery, so i can attest to front passenger space.
What are your thoughts on long distance driving and the seats?
@@Krazertv honestly a joy. I have f sport seats and they're bolstered exactly. I don't drive far regularly but probably longest is about 3 hours
Oh wow … def keen for something like this!!
I live in the USA. I just leased a 2024 NX 350AWD. Fantastic car. While I respect it’s German competitors. For my hard earned money there’s no better SUV currently on the market.
He’s exactly right the interior materials and ride are top notch. I’ll also add the transmission made in Japan is top notch in terms of its smoothness and precision.
Bottom line if you want a quality vehicle that’s a great value for your money you can go wrong with a Lexus NX
If a car gets up and Boggies when overtaking I want one, yet again guys another great video or should I say broadcast.
I think when it comes to cars we buy what we like, with the car I last bought I should have bought something like a Corolla or i30 because it would have been reliable and almost never gone wrong through they feel like appliances instead, I bought a Golf because I like Golfs and it just feels special compared to the Japanese and South Korean competition.
steering wheel texture and shine.... magic sponge and a little water removed the oils on the leather back to the original mat finish. Makes the wheel feel like new!
Magic sponges are essentially a very fine scotch brite pad (ie they sand down surfaces, especially if you're not careful). I do agree that a mirror finish on someones steering wheel is one of the most vile things
Thanks for the tip
Just bought a 2019 today. 27000 on the clock hopefully I have it for years to come.
👍 great video thanks - note: in Europe these are difficult to find second hand (and expensive when you can), because they are so reliable that people don't chop and change them (like they do with Range Rover / Land Rover products)
Finland and Sweden we have those alot (second hand) just bought one under 30k but 120k km.
@@Pel1m1e5 but you can buy a solid Euro SUV for 20k, and this is a big difference in price.
I bought Wipertech blades cos they sponsor you. I'm very happy with them so far. Hopefully they survive in the sub - if so they've got a customer for life.
I love the comments I love the video well done guys I'm going to buy one
Im from the uk . And yes im going to buy nx300h. Thanks for the review ❤
You sold me. I bought the wipers. Quick shipping and yes, they are very good 😎
Yes, I did the same and I'm very happy with them.
Hey mate ,
Love your dad’s voice over 👍❤️
I’m in the UK , I’ve had 3 RXs and 2 NXs they are bulletproof , plus every time it’s serviced by a main dealer you get another years warranty up to 10 years or 100k miles.
I bought a 2016 nx300h with very low mileage for the year. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. The inside is absolutely stunningly gorgeous. Everyone I get in it it makes me smile. It gets an annual service and it has never needed anything. The only thing I’ve replaced is the front wipers. That’s it. I just love the car. I would say it feels like it could do with another gear as it gets noisy when putting your foot down but that’s a minor complaint. My only other beef is the infotainment system which is totally shit. It’s the sat Nav that lets it down What were they thinking of? I’m going to put an after market system in . Google maps is far better. A side issue is the manual. It misses a lot of stuff but I usually find what I want on the internet. I’ll run this car into the ground. It’s a keeper. Will I buy another. YES YES YES.
This is what happening to me just saw a 2016 lexus nx 200t and mann just lub the way it looks...it have 104k but cost 23k ..maybe a little expensive compared to what i can find online but the car is in a delear like 5 blocks from my house and i saw it today..looks just hot
The interior is BEAUTIFUL!
luv it.. Just for dad!
keep up the awesome work....
Yeah ReDriven always love your reviews, with these Lexus I just wish they were a little higher off the ground. I know that’s a pretty weak complaint but I’ve come from driving the old Pajero and love being able to see around the traffic. Otherwise, they look great.
I mean this is more of a regular medium SUV like an Outlander/RAV4 that’s more car-like than an off-road focussed Pajero/Prado, so it’s understandable.
@@User-cb4jm yeah for sure, I just wish they’d make a vehicle between this and the LX
@@Rockbottomsurflike the RX or the GX?
@@freedomforall1815 maybe.
!!?? u seem to have misunderstood freedomforall: then u get the GX or RX, ie those are higher off ground than this. @@Rockbottomsurf
Could not get one and six dealers said it would be up to a year before I could get close to the trim that I wanted in the NX350h hybrid. The RX350h was the same. Luckily I obtained an ES300h Ultra Luxury with additional options in mid April. GLTA if you want an NX or RX hybrid, you will have to pay to get on a list and wait!
I boughty my NX 200t F sport back in 2017, must say it is a fantastic car the only problem I have is, it tends to get a bit thirsty ⛽ when you are heavy on the pedal. The only mechanical issues i faced was it needed a new battery after 160 000kms and new shocks
That's awesome. I'm tossing up an NX200T and Forester xt premium... hmmm
I would definitely get Lexus
You must have the all wheel drive vs front wheel drive.
All wheel is more thirsty.
Just bought a 2020 NX F-Sport and this review played a big part in my decision. Reliability in a luxury car = Lexus
Hello from zambia👋🏾
Can you guys review a 2008-2013 Honda Accord VTI?
After recently driving one of these I would definitely buy one
I own a 2016 XC60 and a looking for a upgrade. Is this an viable option?
I'm also an avid golfer and my bag and clicgear should fit in the trunk. In the XC60 they fit and there is a room for spare.
The bag lives in the boot about 180 days in a year.
So is trunk size the same?
Can we get the “Jim We’ll Be Right Back” screencap on a t-shirt?
Any opinions on the 300h hybrid. Looking at that vs 2020 RAV4. RAV4 has the newer generation hybrid so quicker and more efficient but the cabin definitely feels cheaper. The tech in top spec nx beats RAV4 top spec. Ah, brain says RAV4 but….
question on this model - my folks just bought a used 2021 nx300. Rego etc says AWD. However there is no AWD lock button?? Are some models lacking this function (eg the AWD is like a CX5) or did this car get erroneously registered as AWD when it is FWD?
Thank you for the video. This helped make a decision tremendously.
QUESTION- What type of gas is required? Does it have the option to change the interior lighting at night?
Oh well, sold on the idea, did the test drive and bought a used NX this afternoon with 50,000 kms, yes, feels premium, very comfortable, I’ll comment later to share the experience. Good video.
Enjoy your new car....
Hi mate, how did it go? Haha sorry for the 9 months after reply
Got the Lexus NX 300H 2016 model from new absolute dream machine - regularly maintained by Lexus only, never had any issues with it., will never sell it either.
Same here. What is your average fuel consumption?
I want a second hand LS. My Audi A4 diesel Quattro s now 9 years old this year 68k and zero issues. Serviced every year regardless of kms. I’m that dude that still prefers a sedan.
After owning 5 Mercedes .. S55AMG, SL550, ML350, C300, C250.. it was all fun when leased then decided to buy the s class… nothing but problem.. my wife stranded on side of road with 100k miles… we went straight to Lexus dealer on a Tuesday and leased the 2018 NX .. during pandemic time to return.. no thanks; Best Car purchase ever!! It has every feature at BMW/Benz offers without the problems. It’s grown on us 💯 she loves the car!!
Ahhhh Michael Hutchinson... iNXs.... I'm loving this segment more than the NYTimes crossword.
Can you please do a Toyota crown hybrid review 2010+
I'm driving 2015 NX200t, that thing is very smooth.
Just bought a 2015 NX300h. Hopefully it's as good as this one.
NX is the great car. Maybe it is not so proportional appealing as RX. But reliability is great, material quality is good, interior is fine and soft. In Europe existed NX200 with 2.0 naturally aspirated engine and those one is not enough powerful. Sport seats are a little bit tight for me and fake leather in base models is disappointing. But in other aspects NX is a good choice in its segment. The only issue I can remember - peeling apart glass on the center scream, and for some time it was not available as separate part, but now you can change only the glass. And believe me, I have been Lexus service advisor for 11 years.
Do one with TRD Aurion or Aurion from 2006-2011 aha
Received my Wipertech wiper blade kit for 4th gen Pajero..
I am actually very happy with them, I would definitely rate them higher than the Bosch aerotwin blades..
Just a matter of how long they last...👍👍
My wiper tech only lasted two years (in Darwin though, so 6 months rainy season). I’m trying Bosch but I’m back in Sydney so it’ll be hard to compare.
@@rocknohroll I've never had wipers last more than a few months before they get streaky and shit..

not familiar with them but to last long, we need silicone type@@allanmaccaul1465
If you think wipertechs are good….just wait and see what you think of Rain X Silicone Enduras. They literally work for yeaaaars in the Aussie sun. I replaced my wipertechs with them and they’ve lasted way longer than wipertech.
Where did you get the bracelet on your seiko turtle tho 👀
I have a f- sport, can I use regular gas and not premium that it says
I'd get a Lexus RX - as I like the look of them - or a Rav4 as I find these more appealing to look at
Nice watch! What is it? A Seiko? Do you have mirco adjustment on a fly on the clasp?
Looks like a Seiko Turtle.
Great Review from the young fella Mrs to be looking at the Lexus LBX but I’d prefer this instead pref the Hybrid version
Lets fucking go, thinking about a used one as my next car. Also would appreciate if you could look at the 2019 corolla
can you please review the Lexus LS400???
Many Thanks from france. Yes very glad that you drive a hybrid ... like an hybrid and not a ferrari. When a redriven UX?
What's your thought on Lexus vs Genesis? Thx
Ive been waiting for you guys to review this car! I was hoping for the pre-update version though as thats probably the one I could get in the F sport trim. Ive been eyeing out this car for a while and just waiting for the green light from the missus but thank you for the detailed review, definitely solidified my choice for my next car.
F sport trim is stiff. Not really suited for SUV.
That’s a amazing review and I couldn’t be more happier with my Lexus 2020 NX 300 premium package I traded my 2021 RAV Limited for it..yes it have turbo I’m not a big fan of turbos but hey it’s Lexus / Toyota turbo goes off well roughly around 2-3K is it worth it Yes compare to money pits like BMW etc to name on but hey this is me my take on it!!
