I prefer the mousepad over touch screen. No smudged up screen. The design is definitely dated but we bought one two months ago because of long term reliability of this design. All parts are well tested, well designed and made in Japan. The Japanese manufacturing has just a touch better quality and I work for the company. Lexus will never be latest and greatest. It isn’t their philosophy. Quality is the goal.
Agree! I’m just about to part with my 2000 RX300. LOVED this Lexus so much, spent a real estate career hauling people around in this great luxury SUV. Trying to decide between a 2021 NX or waiting for the new 2022 to come out in the next month or so. These touchscreens are awful. Always dirty with fingerprints. And the “old” NX still has a CD player, which I love. Got like 5000 cds. If I start downloading them to my overloaded iphone, I guess I’ll be done by the year 2099. But Lexus is the BEST, I agree.
@@jamoncure Just wait for the 2022/2023 NX. I have BOTH the 2002 RX300 and the 2021 NX300 but I find myself driving the 2002 RX more than the 2021 smaller NX. The 2002 is larger, roomier, more fun to drive and has tons of space to put my wallet, change and iphone storage. Plus the 6-CD changer is great for CDs. I have major gripes with the 2021 NX in that even though it is smaller, I get frustrated that I sometimes have nowhere to stash my wallet or phone. The side door compartment is too narrow to put my bulky wallet. I hate the fact that the memory seat functionality is NOT standard in the 2021 NX. My 2021 did not come with that option and I have to change the settings just about everytime my wife or daughter uses the car. I also hate the mousepad adjustment option for the entertainment center. Yes, people don't like the smudgy screen but I can't change the radio while I am driving without geting into a crash and sometimes my long arms and hands accidentally touch the mousepad and the screen changes. I hate that. Besides that, the 2021 is fun to drive, too cramped for my style but the 2022/2023 seem to have better options with the entertainment center and more creature comfort functionality.

I inherited a 2021NSX300 several months ago, and was intent on trading it in on something more my style. That being a coupe with a stick. I am still searching for that car, but have to admit that this small crossover/SUV is growing on me. The interior is fabulous. The a/c in particular is unbeatable - and that's something I've gained much appreciation for, having spent the past 6-8 weeks with temps regularly above 100F, and up to 108F many days! I've never had a car with so many high tech features. Since I wasn't planning on keeping it, I put off learning how to utilize most of them. Now that I'm considering keeping this car, I've have spent some time getting more familiar it and it's interface. The mousepad and screen seemed quite unintuitive, initially. But if you spend some time with it, it gets easier. Like the guy in the video, I found he cruise control stalk an odd approach. But, it is much easier to set without taking my eyes off the road to search for buttons. All cruise controls should be this easy. Handling is fair at best, but the ride makes up that. This thing soaks up the worst potholes without any drama or bottoming out. The engine, once past the lower RPMs (turbo lag), is impressive, and doesn't make any obnoxious sounds. This is a very nice, pleasant driving vehicle.
The turbo lag is kinda crazy for a standard car , but the sound is really nice when you get on it and the boost comes in and the blow off is actually pretty loud too
I have owned Lexus NX300 for over a year. What I do not understand is why the touchpad is hated so much for ridiculous reasons. I am a IT worker and this touchpad is as intuitive and easy to use as a computer mouse for me. So stop whining that is what I can say to those silly youtubers. haha
Touch pad is not a problem. First you have voice commands which does 90% of the work. Second if your riding with your significant other they can use the touch pad. Finally touch screen although nice is more of a distraction while your driving time. A deal breaker? No way
touchpad is not the biggest problem ... that is terrible unlogic submenu ! sometimes it tooks minutes to find a simple thing as reset tire pressure or find how to load screnn saver pictur without manual is just impossible ..and many many more
I have a 2018 NX 300 F-Sport and I love it. I do not regret my decision one bit. The infotainment pad doesn't bother me at all. This car is a winner in my book.
I’m fine with joystick, pads, I prefer over touch screens because you have prints and oil constantly on the screen .... infotainment shouldn’t be a big part of car driving ... should be the least important
I own this car; it is overall excellent but it has no good place to keep/charge a cell phone, it has no sunglass holder, and it should have at least 1” more headroom. I am 6’2 and it’s pretty tight in here with the moon roof. Other than that, I have no real complaints.
I helped my grandmother find a CPO 2019 last year and she really enjoys it minus the trackpad and the rear visibility. It's very well put together, drives well, and is very comfortable. I got her one with the triple beam AFS headlights and they're incredible. I wish it had the touchpad and touchscreen like the RX350 I had as a loaner last week, but otherwise it's a great car.
Been driving the NX200T F-Sport 3 since 2016. It is a good reliable premium SUV, no problems with it for the last 4 years. I agree about the track pad, it is a nightmare, not much as horsepower if you compare with the competitors, interior space is not so big neither. I just have a new born and I had to push my driver seat more to the front to fit a car seat (putting it rear facing), but also I'm 6 feet. Very comfortable SUV, we bought it for its reliability, comfort and luxury. If you want space, power and excitement, NX is not for you.

It’s getting more difficult every day for us CD users to find a vehicle with a cd player!!!! And I was at a concert 2 days ago, and what did I buy??? A CD!!! Car manufacturers need to listen to us folks who have the $$$ to buy their cars. We have a lot of CDs.and we want to play them in our cars. Subaru got rid of CD players, and then put them back. YAY. Infiniti still has them too. Seems stupid to have to choose a car based on this, doesn’t it??? I feel like we are back in 1984, buying external CD players for our cars! UGH.
Sorry, disagree ... have a top of the line NX in Oz 🇦🇺 , the touchpad etc is so easy to use, yes even on the move, you just need to get used to it, you can adjust the sensitivity settings to suit your preference ... being RH drive the pad is on the left, not sure if that makeshift difference... it’s a comfy quiet country cruiser 👍
I have a 2021 NX300 AWD, I love it. My two biggest critiques are the center console and gear box take up way too much room that could have been allocated to more storage or a cubby below the radio and and the one I hate most is the small gas tank, at 250 miles the E light is coming on, I’ve never gotten above 22mpg - regardless of driving conditions but I’m averaging 18-19 (which isn’t awful) the tank being so small and lack of driving range make me nervous due to planning driving around gas station availability.
We have a hybrid version which gets incredible gas mileage but the tank only holds like 14.5 gallons. How many gallons does it take you to fill the tank?
IT REALLY ISN'T A BIG DEAL, IT TOOK ME A FEW MINUTES TO GET USED TO IT, OTHERWISE IT IS AN EXCELLENT VEHICLE, LOVE THE POWER, THE HEATED AND COOLED SEATS, THE SOUND SYSTEM, I COULD GO ON AND ON, BUT I WON'T, BEST VEHICLE I EVER BOUGHT, NO DOUBT.
Just had a test drive of Honda ZRV and, unfortunately was not high quality. Going back home stopped at Lexus used dealer to check previous Lexus NX. Honestly, a 4 yo Lexus is much better built even seeing it with 60k km. And 10k euro saving since it is cheaper than new Honda
I crosses Lexus off my list only because of that touch pad. EVERYBODY (except maybe the Lexus engineer who came up with it) hates it. They are supposed to be fixing it soon.
My wife bought the 2021 F-Sport NX300...2 years and 20k miles later, the vehicle runs and drives as smooth as ever. We've had no issues at all. However, the 56k price really hits you when these things are only worth about 32-37k right now. The depreciation is aggressive with this vehicle. We could have purchased a Honda CR-V with all the technology within the Lexus (minus the cooled seats) and almost had it paid off by now. That touch/mouse pad is terrible as well. You might be thinking it's no big deal because you're excited to get a Lexus. I'm here to tell you, don't fool yourself. It's awful to try and mess with that thing while driving it down the road. Good, quality vehicle. But a bit overpriced, in my opinion. I'd buy a CR-V over this any day.
Just bought the AWD 2021 - it's a great look; an intuitive design leaning toward lower-end luxury in "look-and-feel" yet high end safety (which is why I bought it). It doesn't get much on acceleration yet makes-up for it exterior design - it's a great looking SUV on the exterior. Would I buy again - yes. The price point makes sense and taking a long-term service view, it should be worth the investment.
I have a 2015 lexus nx300h and It has the joystick and for me it's perfectly fine. i don't care if it has a joystick or a touchpad, I love how comfortable it is and how solid it is, The CVT also isn't a deal breaker for me either.
Have the non F-Sport edition with awd. Grill is not as offensive--larger grill is a deal breaker as far as I am concerned. Gas mileage could be better--blame that on Lexus's "dated" six speed transmission.
Lexus awesome reliability. Nothing sounds better than a cd. a great car to drive in. How many need a race car or have the area to drive one in safely with out tickets? It is unsafe to be using the entertainment system by the driver while driving! Any entertainment system! How foolish and inconsiderate of other people the road. This is a great little cross over / suv
I love my suv but I’ve come to HATE my light colored seats! (Same as video) Any type of clothing I wear tends to rub off. I’ve tried seat covers but you loose the ability of the heated cooling feature. Would have definitely gone for the red or black the next time. Definitely think twice if you’re looking for this same interior! In regards to the mouse pad you’ve come to get used to this feature as you would with a new phone. It was also a big concern of mine but I’d take the learning curve over a dirty screen any day. Lol
That touchpad is a bad idea. Not only is it difficult to use like you expressed- but it's sitting in a space where it easily over time can & will collect dust, crumbs & all kinds of stuff in the crevices. Especially for anyone who actually uses their vehicle. & It's also sitting in a space that often in many other vehicles is used for people to put stuff or place stuff eg. their phone.
Yea, who the hell thinks it's ok to not have a cd player?! I test drove a 2021 Tacoma and there was no cd player,?!! I won't be going with Tacoma and I've been in them since 2005
Superb review indeed! That touchpad is a glaring mistake Lexus made and should correct it as it'll cost lives, and lawsuits. But Lexus honchos probably care about lawsuits over lives. Very nice crossover, but rather expensive for being a compact. No heated seats for back passengers? I much prefer analogus displays and wouldn't purchase a car that uses a digital one. Lexus no doubt will go all digital. In essence, cars are to be driven and don't need distractions and the capacity for an array of functions that are very distracting.
@@Baggged_LC No issue of such nature. I could leave it for a minute while cruising on a smooth road and it doesn't drift. I suggest you check your bushings.
Recently purchased a 2018 F Sport & having difficulty using Apple Car Play (w/ a dongle USB attachment). Is this model compatible? Can’t figure out if it’s my error or if I have to have a stereo place install
How did I get it to rack up to almost 60k 😭😭😭 beginning package only around 30k?! Nice! Cheaper than my equinox was in 2019. Super excited to cruise in this car ❤️❤️
The vehicle also has both old school and digital cruise control. Also, you can hold down the face button and utilize Siri on your Apple play. You don’t have to toggle while driving. Get the facts before making a review
Every Lexus review I've watched or read over the past 2 years makes a point to talk about how awful the infotainment system touchpad is, and yet even on the 2021 line, most of their models still seem to keep it, even though the RX line proves they have a touchscreen version already available. Bizarre.

Knowing how my dad is with this car (ngl, whenever he pulls up, I kinda go "ugh, the damn Lexus" ) he really loves the info tainment system the way he uses the trackpad and stuff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The deal breaker for me was that the default driving mode is ECONOMY. I want SPORT mode all the time. Every time you start the car you have to take it out of ECO. I found on my test drive that the performance in ECO was unacceptable. Thanks for the review.
Very helpful. I just bought one in Calgary. I can’t wait to drive it . Has anyone driven it on snow with all season tires ? Wondering if I should change them to all weather .. feed back please ?
I found the seats a little uncomfortable during my test drive of the nx early this year. As someone who needs comfortable seats, this was a deal-breaker. Did you also find the seats a bit too firm for a luxury vehicle?
I wonder if that analog clock trend will ever go away. My Montego had an analog clock and it was always off by two or three minutes, unless I had just corrected it that week. It would always bug me because the digital clock on the radio was inches away, pointing out the flaw. If I really want an analog clock, I can carry one around on my wrist all day. Good review!
If you can spare little more money buy RX350 instead. RX350 is much bigger and better. If you are a outdoor person, definitely go for RX350. I am a 5'9 tall and NX is just too small to sleep inside. With RX 350 you can do many more things. RX is V6. NX is 4 Cylinder or Hybrid.
I own a 2019 NX300 and my only disappointment is that the ride is not the luxury ride I was expecting. On bumpy rodes, I feel every bump ... sometimes bumps that are not even there.
Although this SUV is an absolute piece of trash, the touch pad is probably the best thing about the car, youre not supposed to fuck around with the infotainment system while driving, Lexus has made it deliberate so its hard to do while youre driving. and its a rav4 with more power and more leather. they even come with the same tires.
I bought a Lexus NX 2021 modell . The machine is great and its a great car . Unfortunately the central consol touchpad is sooooo awful . Almost 2 times i almost had an accident while i was trying to use the terrible touchpad i. Many times needs more than 30 sec to respond , so if you are looking at the console , you are going to have an accident . Even my okder car - a KIA SPORTAGE had a touch screen and i dont understand why my Lexus Nx which cost 3 times more money dosent !!! Althouh the NX is wonderfull, the touch pad is so huge dissadvandaje , that i would not bought the NX if i knew it ! That why i dont recoment the NX if someone asks my opinion!
Have you ever considered it was designed that way to discourage you from fiddling around with your controls once you start driving? I have seen a lot of drivers not driving properly on the road because they are so distracted with their "toys" that they could not even keep within their respective lanes whilst driving. Pull over if you're driving by yourself or ask your passenger to do the fiddling. Here in Oz, it will cost you A$500 if caught using your phone whilst driving. Stay safe for your sake and others on the road.

@@yulismakeupstylez4460 Congrats on the new car! Enjoy
@@DeltaSleepy thank you I never thought I would ever have one and its a blessing 🙏
@@yulismakeupstylez4460 same me :) but never say never ;)
I love my suv but I’ve come to HATE my light colored seats!
Lol
The touchpad is a problem no more in the 2022 model
Really like our 19, but I have to agree that it's needing a complete redesign which it gets in 22 I think.
It’ll be revealed in one week.
@@larjkok1184 Don't tease a brother, now!
all Lexus need PlugIn now !!!
Great car but be ready to spend at least $8000+ on packages to have very basic features like a parking sensor.
Does this 2021 NX300 has a 2018 RAV4 engine?
That touchpad is a bad idea. Not only is it difficult to use like you expressed- but it's sitting in a space where it easily over time can & will collect dust, crumbs & all kinds of stuff in the crevices. Especially for anyone who actually uses their vehicle. & It's also sitting in a space that often in many other vehicles is used for people to put stuff or place stuff eg. their phone.
Wash your hands you grimey boy
Just because it's annoying to someone doesn't mean it's annoying
Yea, who the hell thinks it's ok to not have a cd player?! I test drove a 2021 Tacoma and there was no cd player,?!! I won't be going with Tacoma and I've been in them since 2005
So, you're still using cd's? Most people don't anymore.
And most newer cars don't have them.
I love mine.
Love mine too! Same color he’s in now.
It's actually fun to drive...have the F-Sport
Does urs has issue when let go the steering while cruise on the highway car slightly drift to the right? mine has caster problem.
@@Baggged_LC No issue of such nature. I could leave it for a minute while cruising on a smooth road and it doesn't drift. I suggest you check your bushings.
@@Baggged_LC I assume you got that taken care of.....Lexus service here is Houston is outstanding.....
@@bobbywoods684 Not yet, but found out the issue relate to a recall with this model L-SB-0017-18 caster sitting incorrectly caused.
Nice Video.....
At 10:00, the vehicle was going up and down(pounding).... 😅😅😅😅
Recently purchased a 2018 F Sport & having difficulty using Apple Car Play (w/ a dongle USB attachment). Is this model compatible? Can’t figure out if it’s my error or if I have to have a stereo place install
Very nice job! Thanks
I haven’t seen official apple CarPlay being offered on this car , but noticed in the video apple CarPlay you can toggle off/on ?
How did I get it to rack up to almost 60k 😭😭😭 beginning package only around 30k?! Nice! Cheaper than my equinox was in 2019. Super excited to cruise in this car ❤️❤️
51k car with a 20k infotainment.. damn. Lexus is sooo behind with that tech
Everything on the screen can be done using voice command, so that makes up for the pad.
Even if I could afford a
$52,000 car this wouldn’t be it. This was the best version and it’s missing a
Lot.
buy used.
Bizarre.
Corporate stubbornness. "WE got it right and YOU are wrong."
Yet, they are out selling the competition for some reason...
@@ne6920 lmao no I'm a Lexus guy this thing is behind, the guys at fiat are crazy tech 12" screens and crazy performance on their shitty rams, Jeep and other dodge box.
That's because it's not really an issue. People are just morons
Reliable
When does the new nx come out. Any firm dates yet and where would it be manufactured?
My dealer claims i have awd but i keep thinking i dont. He says awd automatically kicks in
Good Review❤️
Knowing how my dad is with this car (ngl, whenever he pulls up, I kinda go "ugh, the damn Lexus" ) he really loves the info tainment system the way he uses the trackpad and stuff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why is the front bumper/grill higher than the other trim levels?
These Nx need a V6 engine. That little 4cly engine aint doing it. Thats reason rx350 better. More power in transmission and engine
My 4cylinder flys, especially in sport mode.
@@hikerhobby1204 my rx350 v6 killed that 4cyl the other day. Cant compare a 4cyl to a v6 . V6 got more horse power.
@@angelbluerider9588 : Of course. My 4 cylinder goes just as fast and quick as I need it to.
Is this the same engine and turbo as the IS200T from 2016 and 17?
Love my NX 300H,,,
No touch screen at 2021 is deal breaker
The deal breaker for me was that the default driving mode is ECONOMY. I want SPORT mode all the time. Every time you start the car you have to take it out of ECO. I found on my test drive that the performance in ECO was unacceptable. Thanks for the review.
Very helpful. I just bought one in Calgary. I can’t wait to drive it . Has anyone driven it on snow with all season tires ? Wondering if I should change them to all weather .. feed back please ?
Do you still have it? How is it
I wish I could find a luxury suv with fwd only ?
I found the seats a little uncomfortable during my test drive of the nx early this year. As someone who needs comfortable seats, this was a deal-breaker. Did you also find the seats a bit too firm for a luxury vehicle?
The FSport model seats are firmer than the Luxury model.
Why?
Lexus analog clock is synced with the current time zone, unless it doesnt know where the car is it will always be spot on with your cellphone.
Oh my, I bought mine due to the clock. I think it’s classy!
Best front of grill that’s safe on land rock
Love the color but the Venza limited has this beat
With all these videos I don't think I need to pay the dealership to learn about the car. Let's get rid of dealership and cut the middleman.
Just bought the car with same color interior
If you can spare little more money buy RX350 instead. RX350 is much bigger and better. If you are a outdoor person, definitely go for RX350. I am a 5'9 tall and NX is just too small to sleep inside. With RX 350 you can do many more things. RX is V6. NX is 4 Cylinder or Hybrid.
Exposed screws on the console is not nice.
I own a 2019 NX300 and my only disappointment is that the ride is not the luxury ride I was expecting. On bumpy rodes, I feel every bump ... sometimes bumps that are not even there.
Check tyre pressure,!if it’s to much, you will feel every bumb...
Ours has an excelent rise quality NX300h e-four executive Line
I prefer the synthetic leather. Have mercy on the poor animals
alcantara with cooling vents seats, thats what I missed most in my NX200t F sport
Have the same setup 😂 interior also.
That why i dont recoment the NX if someone asks my opinion!
wow--the touchpad is a dealbreaker. I was considering purchasing this car. shame!!
How to attach fucking hook on this model, standard lexus hook?
I still use CDs
they made this car for 20 year old woman love it
Great SUV but that hideous front grill looks like a whale mouth. I might buy it anyway because of Lexus quality.
It grows on you... thought the same thing with my moms RX... now im test driving NX's lol
Lol, my thoughts exactly. Hate the front grill. Look l8ke shark teeth
I don’t feel luxurious at all
I still use CDs 🙂👌🏼
Hahaha. You are crazy
@@aross924 🤔
its most realiable car i can say, bec comes from toyota Dna
Have you ever considered it was designed that way to discourage you from fiddling around with your controls once you start driving? I have seen a lot of drivers not driving properly on the road because they are so distracted with their "toys" that they could not even keep within their respective lanes whilst driving. Pull over if you're driving by yourself or ask your passenger to do the fiddling. Here in Oz, it will cost you A$500 if caught using your phone whilst driving. Stay safe for your sake and others on the road.
For the price and looks I’d take the Cadillac XT4. Clean dash with easy to use infotainment.
people actually pay extra for that F sport front bumper . I think its spew bag . the dash still has 07 RX350 type buttons
Interior is a bit outdated
No digitals, lol. It’s look so chip.
Whats a CD player??? Come on Toyota.
This car has so many other annoying things! Lot of wrong things that compromise your confort
Who uses CD? My mom and my kids.
