    I personally have a true LG IPS and normal VA panel tv. I can say hands down IPS is way ahead in terms of picture quality. In the VA panel the whites look way too blown out in normal viewing which make the color contrast washed out.

    • @samibouhadida5314
      @samibouhadida5314 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this a LG specific issue with their VA screen models. With other brands using VA's the whites seem to be less blown out. I think LG uses this trick to increase the brightness of their screens.

      No way IPS is better than VA with the 6 monitors ive tried. Blacks are whack on IPS so how can the color be accurate? Only a proper black backgroud gives true color as it should be hence OLED>VA>IPS. People mistake bright colors for good colors.

      @@missionnad1 What I know is that TV manufacturers, even major brands, buy their panels from many different manufacturers, even for the same model and size (also depends on the region where the TV is produced), and those manufacturers are not necessarily known brands like LG, samsung and Sony. However, for Oled screens the biggest manufacturer is LG and almost all Sony Oleds have LG screens...

  • @BlackBullPistol

    I was comparing this on two calibrated oled's as a reference to get a fair comparison as possible. The results are:
    Both the VA and IPS are pretty off compared to oled as expected but VA resembles oled a bit more than IPS especially in areas where dark should be dark on IPS it's a blue tint. Highlights are 80% more accurate on VA, some were more on IPS. Both panels have off the red color but IPS has a bit more accurate reproduction where VA on the other hand has more details and depth. For some reason the IPS panel had better sharpness in some parts where the VA was a bit blurry. Overall the VA panel resembles the reference more than IPS, if it would have more accurate colors and sharpness it would be a pretty damn good lcd panel.

    The only benefit of IPS is the wider viewing angles. But when watching in a dimly lit room such as I do, and black uniformity is a HUGE deal for me, IPS can't match VA. Even in your video here I could see a lot of the backlight bleed-through on the IPS which I would not enjoy. I've got the 85" Sony X800H with a VA panel, and it does very well with black uniformity on all different types of viewing (TV shows, movies, etc.) and it has excellent shadow detail along with creating very decent dark black levels.

    I learned and enjoyed a lot than expected. You werevery informative and clear and made a person with ADD (ADHD inattentive symptoms) understand and follow along. I appreciate that compared to many other channels.
    As a programmer and gamer i think the VA-display is my call this time, coming from using IPS && various small difference ips panels such on samsung and LG.
    The car game footage was after the horse video was great and really made me experience the difference, i'd recommend as your new subscriber i dont know if its my screen or my eyes deceiving me that i saw more "motionblure" on the IPS although ips screens tend to have a higher response rate at the cost of lower contrast. Can it be because the ingame setting of motionblure or filmgrain was on?
    Yet again, Thank you so much for the great video! much love!

    I totally agree that the IPS is better for colour accuracy and lots of other things. The va is large is only real difference. Bad colour accuracy. It's a bit of an weird one. The reds are red on IPS, the Blacks and whites are exact and VA one looks like almost a slight sepia effect on it. Look at blacks and whites that all look to have some brown over them like a filter really.
    IPS is also good for viewing angles and for lit rooms, VA have good contrasts as have blacker blacks and whiter whites, but it's. It a trade-off if go for... IPS WINS!;) AND LG RULE THEM ALL!

      IPS, when it has all the bells and whistles ($2,000+ tv) is the best because it can almost be like an oled panel without the burn-in. I just bought a Samsung crystal tv and its VA panel is better than a Panasonic IPS from 2017 in every Department except viewing angles (which are not really that bad given the tv size) but I know IPS overall can be better when maxed out.

      Choose what you want. First of all research more about IPS and VA panels. And what will be good to you you buy. If tech Steve tells you to buy IPS panel, if you are not happy with it's pros and cons. You will be saying Steve choose a bad product for mate. Steve knows the difference between IPS and VA, just ask him to explain the cons and pros of the both panels. Iam happy with My LG 50UQ7500LG it's a VA.

      IPS is a screen technology for liquid-crystal displays. In IPS, a layer of liquid crystals is sandwiched between two glass surfaces. The liquid crystal molecules are aligned parallel to those surfaces in predetermined directions. Wikipedia

    I've discovered your channel today, watched some videos all day long and freaking love all of them. Congrats, man!
    I'm thinking of buying a Nano75, but just couldn't understand if I get the 43 inches or 50 inches 'cause of that difference in the panels. Well now I came back to your channel and there's this video. This is so insane haha Thanks for reading my mind 😅
    Overall, I think they are pretty similar, but sometimes the IPS looks a little bit better. I don't know though if it's worth the loss of 7 inches to stick with the IPS.
    You are the best! Thanks for the help.

    • @BlackBullPistol
      @BlackBullPistol 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Nope, lower contrast = faster motion | higher contrast = slower motion
      IPS panels have better motion
      Explanation: the higher the contrast is more time it takes for the picture to make a transition from black to white and vice versa
