What do you recommend for different viewing angles? I have a TN monitor and it sucks because the viewing angles will either get brighter or darker depending on the angle you are viewing at. Which Monitor do you recommend for 4K(3840x2160) 144hz 1ms? I want it to be clear no matter which angle you view from so that when I have friends over they see what I see.

Basically it comes down to what annoys you the least....
VA - black smearing, worse viewing angles, mostly curved
IPS - horrible contrast, possible IPS glow/back light bleed, flat except for ultrawides
Samsung with their high end VA panels, give you the best features from both in theory, but they have an extreme curve and bad quality control considering the price.
OLED would be perfect for everything if it didn't have the burn-in risk, wasn't so expensive, and have so few choices for different sizes, refresh rates, and resolution.

I'm so confused. In the beginning starting at 00:08 it literally looks like the one on the right is the VA panel and the one on the left is the IPS. The one on the right has way more contrast and basically 0 glow while the one on the left has less contrast and glow like hell. Then when you showed the viewing angles I was mistaken, but what is going on here? Is there a light shining directly on the VA or could it be that the VA just doesn't have proper settings set. Here’s my take after doing my own research:
    1) Most reviewers don’t adjust their settings properly, and IPS tend to have better settings out of the box. So many have the impression that VA doesn’t have better color.
But that’s not true, VA nowadays have improved their color substantially.
Just look at it this way, how can a monitor produce better color when it cannot produce proper black?
    2) Ghosting may not be that apparent as you think. Most of the time only for those super hardcore gamers, who are nitpicking monitors.
    3) viewing angle problem most likely fixed across most brand

Get a group of people, go through 3 different screens and choose which one is better looking.

I did my research, without pre-assumption for both IPS & VA. i ended up liking VA more to IPS. I'm not saying IPS is inferior in anyway, but for the premium price of IPS panels, i'd say VA is more bang for the bucks

A VA monitor looks better in most games such as God of War or Elden Ring or anything else that is played for story and graphics! FPS or first person shooter games are a problem at high frames per second where the smearing becomes apparent and can make it harder to play smoothly, however if you just want to play at 60-90 frames per second the smearing is not that apparent and it's the same as in normal 60 hz IPS monitors and as a non-competitive player playing mostly for fun......I didn't knew what ghosting was until I needed a new monitor and I got a VA monitor and the difference in contrast is stunning, but if you play high FPS games more than 90 frames per second(most kids do) you'll see a lot of black smearing and it becomes annoying since the eye doesn't need to focus it can see it even subconsciously! So yeah I prefer VA more since I play Call of Duty at 60 fps and don't seem to have a problem, but kids get angry because they need to play it at 144 fps so they can feel like a champ when playing online. It really depends on how many fps you play and what you like to play because black smearing becomes a problem only above 90 fps!

The LG UR78 series has an odd-one-out as according to a specs site only the 50" sets have VA panels. I am upgrading from a 1080p that has IPS, and I can't find this info on the LG site. Hello! Sorry for bothering. I'm looking for a new monitor. I have the Ryzen 5 5600 and the RX 6700 XT. I do translation work and play games casually, especially open-world games. I saw the HP Omen 25i and the Gigabyte G27Q. Knowing that these monitors have different characteristics, which of them would be better?

Hi, I'm planning to buy a 27" monitor and can't decide between 3 monitors...
I play some games just for fun, when I can, watch some movies and the rest is the normal use.
I know that for my profile, I'd be better off with and IPS flat screen but.. all my choices are curved and VA screens. :P
    My choices are:
    - AOC Gaming 27" C27G2ZE VA FHD 240Hz FreeSync 0.5ms
    - Dell 27" S2721HGF FHD 144hz FreeSync Premium 1ms
    - AOC Gaming 27" C27G2ZU VA FHD 240Hz 0.5ms FreeSync
I know the Dell monitor is one your favourites in this "range" and that's why it shows on my list, but from these 3 which one would you buy?
Thank You and congrats for the great channel!

@@PuppetMasterdaath144 Yep. Low contrast display is just awful to look at. It's not just bad looking, it's actually uncomfortable. I can describe how much I regret "upgrading" from VA to IPS. Unless you play only "hardcore competetive" games you shouldn't listen to people who recommend IPS over VA. At the very least you should try to evaluate how both technologies perform with your own eyes before making a choice.

Samsung are horrible to work with, so it's unlikely I'll be reviewing anything from them!
