I fell in love with SW when i first saw Phantom Menace with my friend's. I'm still very fascinated by the architecture and the concept for every scene set on Naboo, but i am not so thrilled by the places in the other movies. Naboo has a nice feel to it, and combined with the soundtracks, the story and the characters, episode 1 will always be my favorite.
Ah, those silly haters had sort of made me forget the great excitement that I had felt when this movie first came out back in '99... well, it's awesome that we have this "Duel of the Fates" video to bring that feeling back so vividly! PURE genius!
I remember watching this video permiere on MTV , my brother and our friends huddled around the TV.. it was magic. Finally Star wras was returning and this was , other then the trailer, ourfirst big peek into the new movie.. man such goodtimes.
John Williams is truly one of the greatest composers ever! I don't care what naysayers say about The Phantom Menace, I still love it. It was because of this movie that I became the loyal Star Wars fan that I still am today. I think that if one can at least tolerate Jar Jar, like I can, this movie can be enjoyable to everyone, not nearly as much of the original trilogy of course, but still entertaining. Plus, I believe this one has the best lightsaber duel of the saga.
People may like or dislike Starwars, but they surely cant dislike John Williams. Personally is my favorite piece of the hole of the SW soundtrack, no doubt.
I remember watching this in the extras menu of the ps1 game based on the movie, i still cant believe this gives me the same "oh-snap" feeling i got back when i was young. epic vid.
The most striking thing abou this video is that is actu;ally more entertaining and exciting than the movie itself, can't you just feel this musical and visual Star Wars stimulation.
When they released this vid right before the movie, I said "This is going to rock!" Boy was I wrong. Apart from the pod race and the lightsaber match with Maul, it was tepid. But this piece is one of John Williams' finest compositions ever. And that's a monumental compliment.
everything about star wars is great. there isn't a single bad thing in star wars. the music wasn't in any better than the movies. it was one of the many things that made star wars better than any other movie in history.
Imperial March sets a very specific atmosphere, which is what movie music does (if not all music). Regardless of its musical quality, it absolutely sends a chill down one's spine while seeing Vader walk around.
I remember when i first watched this: it was 1999 I was 9 and it was in the game for ps1 Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace! I think i'm going to play it again!
lol dude, im a sixth grader and were playing this song exactly like it sounds. we have been praticing all year with the middle school singing group. its amazing.
I watched this video a lot of times, it was included in a certain TPM game. It was many years ago (when I was child) and I remember what impression it was doing on me - like now. Star Wars number 1!
i love that line from yoda fear is the path of the darkside fear leads to anger anger leads to hate hate leads to suffering and also... this is one of the greatest songs in the star wars universe
man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who remembers seeing this trailer on tv in 1999??? and going holy shit I gotta see this movie??? and then went to the midnight premier?
This is so epic, hearing this in the background while Obi-Wan and Qui-Gonn are in a ferocious battle with the great Darth Maul. It truly was a "Duel of the Fates" cause had not only Qui-Gonn but Obi-Wan died fate would have been different in the Star Wars movies.
This is my favorite song in the saga! But do not get me wrong, I 'love' the original track very much. And this song is more than worthy for Star Wars. The chanting sounds epic!
I have that game that this music video is from!!!!!!!!!! Wow... I didn't think I'd ever find someone else who owns or has seen it!!!!!!!!!! Kick Ass!!!!!!!!!
why are you guys complaining about the movie? This movie was awesome I mean besides Jar Jar Binks, which really got blown out of proportion, it wasn't crap. Honestly what were you expecting out of this movie? It delivered. I nearly shit my pants on how awesome it was, don't you guys remember the rush from the pod race and the final climactic battle? Definitely underrated
Williams used two lines from Robert Graves' poem "Battle of the Trees" - "Under the tongue root a fight most dread, and another raging, behind, in the head" - which he had translated into several languages and chose Sanskrit because he liked the way it sounded.
Awesome tune...but the main theme will always be the soundtrack of my life!! STAR WARS RULES!! "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi...at last we will have revenge..."
@Justinian43 Points to you. I thought it was perfect music for that scene in Episode III. And why not? The symbolic fall of the senate, the duel of two great powers, the battle of good and evil spilling over from Episode I. Fantastic!

I agree
However I may be a few years late to this comment

I just love this music video.
Especially how the opening chorus fits perfectly with the droid invasion!!
Its just majestic. ^_^
John from the bottom of my heart thank you so much. I grew up in the 70's and 80's listening to your music in the movies you did. Keep rockin man!
This the greatest piece of music ever. I play this over and over. I'll never get sick of it.
this is TRULY one of the greatest film tracks of all time. Thank you George Lucas for bringing John Williams to conduct the score.
I love it!!!! John Williams has made some of the best orchestral theme music in history! Keep it up old boy!!
this song always sends chills down my spine
John Williams is brilliant. This is easily one of the best Star Wars songs.
This Friday I shall relive the excitement I felt back in 1999! I just wish this was remastered in HD and constantly played MTV like back in the day.
I remember watching this video permiere on MTV , my brother and our friends huddled around the TV.. it was magic. Finally Star wras was returning and this was , other then the trailer, ourfirst big peek into the new movie.. man such goodtimes.
John Williams is going down as one of the greatest composers of all time.
Wow! i saw this in the cinema when I was 9! Great music, and this film had the best light saber battle ever!
John Williams Is an absolute geneous when it coems to the music for Star Wars. Long Live John WIlliams
"fear leads to angre, angre leads to hate and hate leads to suffering..." love SW...

I remember watching this premiere on TRL with Carson Daly back in 99 lol. Crazy. Loved this song ever since.
John Williams is a musical genius. The best soundtrack composer.....ever!!!
This is one of the best movie/soundtrack collages I have ever seen!
This song is one of the few things that new Star Wars movies have better than the old ones
John Williams RE-DEFINED classical music. He goes WAY BEYOND all the composers centuries ago.
I had that game and freaking loved waiting for this to come on on the main menu. Watching this in theaters as a little kid was so amazing.
Just saw this in 3D last night...so good! My friend and I were humming this enthusiastically in the bus on the way there. Good times :)
I remember watching this in the extras menu of the ps1 game based on the movie, i still cant believe this gives me the same "oh-snap" feeling i got back when i was young. epic vid.

Totally agree with you. One of the reasons I believe Star Wars is so epic and so high stands because of the music.
For a Music Video for Classical Music, This Rocks!!!
John Williams is the Mozart of our age. His music will be played after 200 years. :)
Just watched this song performed by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Truly amazing to see it live
omg.. this is just an amazing song/opera thing.. it sounds so cool.. I can listen to this for hours
Imperial March sets a very specific atmosphere, which is what movie music does (if not all music).
Regardless of its musical quality, it absolutely sends a chill down one's spine while seeing Vader walk around.
this music gives me gooosebumps, it's so climatic and brilliant

Fear.. Fear attracts the fearful..
The strong.. The weak .. The innocent..
Fear is my Ally..
Powerful words of a sith.
[Big fan of StarWars]
Stunning piece of music, stunning video....... Thank you.
Da wana wanga......
How can anyone not love this piece of music?
I watched this video a lot of times, it was included in a certain TPM game. It was many years ago (when I was child) and I remember what impression it was doing on me - like now.
Star Wars number 1!
i love that line from yoda fear is the path of the darkside fear leads to anger anger leads to hate hate leads to suffering and also... this is one of the greatest songs in the star wars universe

Who's gonna be there on 10th February? I know, I will.
So many years has passed and this music still gives me chills with these quotes.
Actually the phantom menace brings great memories back from my childhood and saw 3D yesterday it was great!
man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who remembers seeing this trailer on tv in 1999??? and going holy shit I gotta see this movie??? and then went to the midnight premier?

You have to be crazy not to love this song. There are fifty of them out there. Scary!
Makes me think about the good old days, my star wars stuff and myself there was nothing else in the world to care about haha.
This is my favorite song in the saga! But do not get me wrong, I 'love' the original track very much. And this song is more than worthy for Star Wars. The chanting sounds epic!
This is my favorite song of all Star Wars musics. I can't explain why, but I just love this!
Five stars! :))
I remember this music video when I was 10 years old. I'm now 24 and loving it. I actually have this song on my Ipod.
1:25=Threepio!
deffinetly the most epic music ever and best star wars music ever
Awesome vid, the song has been one of my favorites since the movie launched. For sure the best thing that came out of eps. 1

John Williams is a Genius as the composer and a magisterial director
a stroke of absolute genious. John Williams has done it again and this is a very good video, love to see more.

Omg my school played this song 4 our concert!! Luv it:)
i remember watching this video on the PS1 Phantom Menace game. Truly Epic!
On of the most powerful pieces of fuilmmusic ever.
Now that Jerry Goldsmith and Basil Poledouris are gone, John Williams is the last great music composer left to us.
This was ten times better than the actual movie. Great job!
i always wondered if they had rows of people sitting there singing while they were making the soundtrack for movies....super sweet!
duel of the fates is one of the best themes in star wars and 'phantom menace' is a great film.
I have that game that this music video is from!!!!!!!!!! Wow... I didn't think I'd ever find someone else who owns or has seen it!!!!!!!!!! Kick Ass!!!!!!!!!
I may have been four when it came out but goddamn this brings back memories.
Him and Howard Shore. Both incredible artists!!!
John Williams can make any movie sound good. As seen here hehe :)
"Best Movie Composer" ever and I might agree.
I remember watching this music video so much as a kid looking forward to Episode 1. All that excitement wasted.
The music elevates the movie. The Phantom of the Menace.
why are you guys complaining about the movie? This movie was awesome I mean besides Jar Jar Binks, which really got blown out of proportion, it wasn't crap. Honestly what were you expecting out of this movie? It delivered. I nearly shit my pants on how awesome it was, don't you guys remember the rush from the pod race and the final climactic battle? PETER SERAFINOWICZ FTW!
And I remember this song purely for Jedi Power Battles. Man that game was amazing
@OmnomTheDevourer Hell no! All six are great in my book.
The greatest tribute to Corn ever composed.
when you played in his orchestra, you have acomplished your goal in life
I don't see why everyone thinks this movie is bad. It was mostly used to set the plot points for future movies. Good music, either way you look at it.
This is my favorite too. Can you imagine how much practice they had to put in to get that good? O.o
John Williams is brilliant!
that video is more exciting and better edited than that damn atrocity of a movie.
Truly Epic song Star Wars Is unprecedented and will forever be The Force is strong in you my padawan:D
