- When your road bike feels old, it's easy to dream of a new bike or expensive upgrades. Hopefully this video shows that you can upgrade your bike and make your ride real fresh, for not very much money or time!
I put a new chain, new cables, and new handlebar tape on my Cannondale Caad 10 road bike, as well as giving it a good clean and wax. It now rides and looks like the bomb!
Let me know if you have any other ideas for cheap bike upgrades!
Drop a LIKE and enjoy!

Own a caad12 its the 1st road bike i ever owned. Its a 2019 rim break 105. Gotta say i have fallen in love with the bike. Have about 1200 miles on it and pkan on doing a major over haul over this winter instead of buying an all new one . Kudos to you caad owners out there. We have a special bike
They're everything you need and nothing you don't!
Watching from central Africa. Almost had a heart attack when you threw away the old chain. Here, we use components until they are completely obliterated
I bet your definition of a 'worn' component is very different!
I prefer to leave maintenance long enough so it feels like an upgrade when you do it :). White tape is brave dude!
I might have left it too long... Realised I now need new jockey wheels, cassette and maybe chainrings too 😂
@@willcowen2152 Bike* then! :D
I just did this recently on my 2016 Trek Emonda ALR 5. I replaced all the cables and the outers (brake and gear). I changed the handlebar tape, had to stay with black. Replaced the saddle, ffresh new tires, Gatorskins, and a new chain. And I also upgraded the derailleurs to latest model Shimano 105. I had 105's before but they were showing their age. Also new cassette from 11-28 to 11-32. I almost forgot I bought an inexpensive pair of Fulcrum aluminum alloys wheels to ride for the winter. I like them so much that I am leaving them on for now. Bike rides beautifully . I was planning on getting another bike, but Covid has put a hamper on the supply chain. I have fallen in love with my old new bike.
Great to hear the full refresh has made you love the bike again! New bike are impossible to get a hold of right now. The only other thing I'm considering for the bike in the video is a respray- to really scratch the new bike itch. However choosing a colour isn't easy!
That’s great. I’m looking to buy a lightly used 2016 alr 5. Happy to know the frame is worth keeping and investing in long term.
*Looked at a lot of options for getting my **Latest.Bike** . Great find in SAVA. Super light, nice components, really good value as it comes with many options only found in much higher priced bikes.*
What sort of options we talking here?
this is so relaxing
Remarkable given how time crunched and stressed I was making this video 😅
Bike looks crisp. Good job
Thanks 👍
That makes me feel useless with a bike😂 I’d need to drop mine at the mechanic to get any of that stuff done. I’m good at riding the things but nothing else lol. Good video mate.
Cheers! I worked in a bike shop for a while which helps, still way easier to just drop it off though 😂
Once you get your head round it it's really simple, thats coming from a mechanic though... If you're a club rider you could well become the go to mechanic for your mates if you're into that sort of thing
Once you start watching videos and buying tools you will start learning it can be easy , especially on this kind of bike it’s a piece of cake
2005 caad 5 and I can’t get enough of it
Is that the one with the flame paint job?
@@willcowen2152 no it’s black with chrome decals
Much better to leave re-taping the bars until EVERYTHING else has been fitted, plus a short test ride.
Then fit the new tape.
Cool, cheers
I love caad 10
great frame!
Yes, but too expensive upgrade my vintage bike. Nice bike.
Thanks!
Como hacer que tu bicicleta que está nueva luzca como nueva...
This bike is from 2016! The video is also more about making your bike feel new, than look new - hopefully it helps.
Cool man. Great background music selection too.
Thanks! Glad you liked the tunes 👍
@@willcowen2152 Yes man cool groovy guitar jams.. is my thing.. lol

Only clamp from seatpost
Is it not ok to clamp an aluminium frame on the top tube?
