Love the video... I'm new to woodworking and to the restoration of my Queen Anne home. I'm trying to find out how to do something similar to this, although I'm trying to find out how to create a template and use it to accurately create a negative space inside of the board in order to accurately recreate the old architectural shingles that have deteriorated over the last 140 years. Any advice on doing this?

I’m going to be “routing out” shapes like flowers, stars, birds etc… along with various scrolling edge details to replicate the wooden architectural shingles that are on my house… as they were made a hundred years ish ago and are crumbling.
I don't think so. I've never used this method with saw horses. Hut in order to cut the shape out, you do have to drop the bit all the way through the wood
No, when you get a router they usually don't come with any bits. They're special designed for amount of torque and RPMs that the router has. This is the bit that we use makeawoodsign.com/products/spiral-up-cut-router-bit We do ship all over the world. Hope this helps, buddy!
MDF is a composite material. It's super flat and tough. Think of it like high end particle board. We don't use masks too often, but really any particulate mask will work

If your wood is sitting on sawhorses, is there any danger (more so than using a jigsaw) if your bit is lower/deeper than your wood?

How to cut a letter hollow in one board and solid same letter to fit the hollow shape?

What happens if you just make one cut around the template?
The bit is sticking out too far for it to be safe. We generally take 1/4" at a time.
I was wondering what kind of foam. I am getting a palm router and trying to figure out how to use it.
We just use that foam insulation, but you could just use another board. The main goal is to not destroy your bench.
