Please make different list of artist, like for Nightwish, so everyone can find the artist much more easier. Go for the Dutch Queen! Nice comments guys! 👌
The band is from Finland. The lead singer Floor is from the Netherlands. Her husband is the drummer from Sabaton. Check out the 2013 Wacken concert. Any song will do. Best live concert I’ve never been to! Floor has been in the business for over 20 years and has been with Nightwish since 2012/2013. Her versatility is mindblowing! She can do opera, growls, soft, high belts, rock, you name it. Enjoy the journey 🤘🏻
This is from 2012. The insane thing is, Floor was not even an official member of the band yet--earlier that year, they split with the previous singer, and got Floor to join them on short notice to complete their North American tour. She was just getting used to their setlist when she did this. There was a lot of nervousness whether the Nightwish fans would accept a new singer (their third) so quickly. At the end, you hear them chanting her name! There is a huge amount of history about this band which members of the Army will surely fill you in on.
I think, it wasn't more than 3 months, after she stepped in for Anette. AND Floor stepped in on 2 days' notice, after having a sabatical year, due to burnout. She saved Nightwish and Nightwish saved her, in a way.
The documentary of the time Floor joined Nightwish is on youtube. "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours". Its around 2 hours long but fascinating to watch.
While I think overall the Wacken 2013 performance of this song sounds better and is more polished, knowing what Floor and the band had gone through a few months prior to this show really makes that high note at the end come off as something almost triumphant. I mean, look at how giddy Emppu is at 14:20 when Floor hits that.
You were mentioning about the backing tracks. Yes, you can say that it is from the keys, but one of the things that Nightwish does is that they record with an actual symphony. They have the London Symphony Orchestra and a couple of choirs on permanent retainer for all of their albums. So what you are hearing is an actual symphony and choir. Obviously, they can't take an entire symphony and choir out on tour, so they have those parts as backing tracks. For example, during the middle piece when they are off stage, if you know the instruments and their sound, you can pick out the strings, clarinet, bassoon, flute, piccolo, etc. And you're close on that note. That is a G#5. She actually came down to it from a step and a half up (the B) to a note below (F#5) then back to the G#5. Oh, and so you know... she can go higher. ;)
Floor was ask to finish out Nightwish world tour, during the U.S. leg of the tour. She was ask to fly from the Netherlands to Seattle, and please learn the setlist in 48 hrs. She sang the first concert with Nightwish on October 1, 2012 and the song you just saw, was recorded on December 14th or 15th, 2012, two and a half months later.
At this concert, Floor had only been with the band for a grand total of 2 months, with the only rehearsal time being the days travelling between venues and sound checks. She had replaced the previous singer, on 48hrs notice, midway thru the American leg of their World Tour. If you compare the Wacken performance 8 months later, there is an even more polished performance! Can't think of another singer who could have pulled this off so brilliantly. To join a band while they're on tour with inadequate rehearsal time and not even knowing the songs and then be able to perform like that? Its quite remarkable!!🤘
She is really a talent and the Nightwish documentary about her joining the band is in here. Search words are something like "Nightwish" "Learn the setlist in 48 hours". :) But every lead singers what the band had before her were just as great.
There are some videos of her first few performances where she has the lyrics laying on the floor because she didn't know the songs yet. And she still knocked it out of the park. Her earlier bands were After Forever and ReVamp.
I think Floor was already somewhat familiar with the songs on the setlist. She wasn't new to Nightwish at all, just that she had never been their singer before.
Great react! You need to check out their 2013 Wacken concert. Every song is incredible, played in front of an 82,000+ audience, totally involved. Song of Myself, Romanticide, Ghost River. Cheers!
That concert Was 2012 in Flores Agentina and the Nightwish Armee from Agentina is crazy and when Floor sing her first Concert in Agentina the Audiens love her from the first sec one
The music is called symphonic metal and is very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded in 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of. Band members Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics) Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals) Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen Later (2015) replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues (The drummer) Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player) Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK) The clip was shot a few weeks after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their 2012/2013 US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html ) As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link th-cam.com/video/gbn9GczYBkw/w-d-xo.html BTW that last note she just sang? Nightwish fans created a whole new word for when she does something impressive like that. We call it a Floorgasm. Welcome to the club and boy are you going to receive a lot of traffic on your channel. ;-)
Floor began professional singing at the age of 16. She has attended the rock academy in The Netherlands as well as having operatic training and musical theater training. Floor has been in 2 bands previous to joining Nightwish in 2012. Those last notes were G5, F#5, and held the E5 in full chest voice. Great job on this reaction video my friends. Loved it. Great reference to a "power Stevie Nicks". If only Stevie had some range to her voice? Stevie is more about that dark sultry sexy gypsy thing. Which I love. However, Floor could teach Stevie more than she will ever know about technique and resonance. Loved it! Peace.
@@Louquet : If you're referring to Beste Zangers and Phantom of the Opera, it wasn't a B6, it was a D6. Confirmed by a vocal coach, with a piano on video, as well as a tuner.
Floor has some classical training, musical theatre and Rock Academy in Nerherlads. And she's been (for now) a frontwoman for various bands over two decades. Of course she has lots of physical talent for a singer: amazonian stature, huge lungs (swimming an diving background) and a big beautiful mouth to control the air flowing. She's like created for singing 😉. There is prerecorded symphony orchestra and choir backing track. Wacken 2013 performance is a little better for various reasons but this Buenos Aires 2012 is good too. At least the crowd is quite insane. Thank you and greetings from Finland!
Isint it Half back track Half Thomas? I mean obviously he can’t play everything that’s going on but He does the single instruments like strings & stuff on Keys.
*Wacken 2013 is for sure great, but it's obvious, that they recording the concert for the Live-BD/DVD/CD.....Buenos Aires 2012 is more impro and it's the first ["Ghost Love Score"-]videoclip, with the "Floorgasm"...that's why this clip is SO special !!!*
I prefer this version just for a sentimental reason, Floor just beginning with Nightwish and you can hear that she is not as confident as she is now or at Wacken. And also for the chanting of the crowd at the end and Jukka shouting her name also, the best welcome Floor could wish for. And the facial expression of Tuomas (4:00), he knew he had a replacement for Annette. The Floorgasm Emppu had... all those things make it a better version for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Wacken.
At this point she was a substitute for just 2 months. If you watch the Wacken 2013 performance of the same song, you can see how much better she got. That performance is absolutely flawless
The Bassist is also a powerhouse. Watch their live version of ‘The Islander’ for more on him. P.S. always listen to their songs live for first time viewing. Nothing against the recordings but DAMN they put on a show!
LVT's comment about singing along with better singers to expand one's range hit home for me. Back when I had vocal ambitions, I would play Queen as loud as possible in my car, and push and push to try and keep up with Freddie Mercury. I always faled, but I always tried. till to this day, I do the same thing whenever I'm getting over a cold - "Liar" always clears the lungs. A very good reaction; you see now why the Nightwish Army is a thing - Floor is flat-out amazing. Do more (live) Nightwish videos, you've got a lot more amazement coming. Enjoy your journey ! (MAKE AMERICA NIGHTWISH)
"Storytime", (FLOORGASM), "Romanticide",, Wacken Open Air 2013 live..Then "Yours Is An Empty Hope" Wembley Arena ! 4 starters. (and Floor has a little Suprice for you !) Stay safe guys. Floor Jansen is Duch. . *QuintEssentia* = Perfekt,Beautiful,Goddest.. Valkyrie of Metal !!
Ab6. She can go to F6 and covers 4 octaves plus an occasional growl. Three years of Rock Academy and over a year of classical training. She has also been a vocal coach. She can do it all. A good start is the Wacken 2013 concert. Excellent audio and video. Storytime, Ghost River, Song of Myself to name a few. :)
Awesome reaction. love you for that guys..listen more you two..love it,like it..Floor( the female vocalist) is our valkerie. welcome to the nightwish army...following you..
Floor started off in Rock Academy, studied classic soprano singing in conservatory and studied musical theatre singing as well... She also is a vocal coach and has decades of experience.. Best female voice on the planet from this generation.
One minor quibble: Please don't compare Floor to Stevie Nicks. Stevie's cute, but Floor is on a completely different level. The only comparisons I think make sense are to Freddie Mercury or to professional opera singers who do pop songs as well.
Though Stevie really grabs me in "Edge Of Seventeen". When her voice gets dirty, she is a real queen. But you are right. Floor is in a vocal galaxy with no more, than a handful of singers in it.
Don't be ridiculous. It is human nature to make comparisons to things you already know. We build our knowledge off our previous experiences. Comments like this are the reason I usually avoid online fandoms.
She did the Rock Academy in the Netherlands and meanwhile followed singing lessons. After that even studied opera and music theatre. Started with some guys her own band when she was 16/17 years of age. Check out After Forever. When this band stopped she started another band, Revamp. In this show she is the replacement singer. Became full member of Nightwish in 2013.
Long career with this band :-))))))))))))))))))) Dude - this was in mid-December, and her first performance with Nightwish was on 1st October, after having to learn the setlist (famously) in 48 hours after getting a call at her sister's wedding in the Netherlands on 29th September, asking her if she was willing to fly in as emergency stand-in to Salt Lake City, and with a single rehearsal before her first performance in Seattle! Floor had already re-written the ending of this song and performed it in Austin on the 10th October, and by Wacken 2013 she had it perfected and performed it to over 82,000 people, who were in the palm of her hand throughout the 90-minute performance. THAT note is nowhere near the top of her range, nor does she plumb the depths of her range in this song. Floor can get to the top of the 6th octave, and maybe into the 7th, while also reaching down into the alto range. She can sing opera, musical theatre, Pop, Latin, Metal, Country, Folk, and anything else she chooses to in at least six languages - the only way she can't sing is badly. And she only did the minimal amount of music or theatre in school but did follow it with joining a band (After Forever) at 16 while studying for three years at the Rock Academy and after graduating there, did a couple of years musical theatre and opera, before her professional work became too much for her to continue studying at the same time. She did become a vocal coach herself though. She is, quite simply, the most versatile female vocalist on earth. Most people sing what they can, Floor sings what she wants and how she wants.
Floor Jansen studied music on her mother netherlands and has been part of different bands since 16, she was 32 on this buenos aires concert and had joined nightwish for like 6 months, after Storytime tour she became a permanent member and they already released 2 albums since. Nightwish is the soul of Toumas (keyboard) he composes and arranges 99% of their songs, and it started in 1996. Highly recommended to check all of their Wacken 2013 concert, it´s a legenday spectacle.
The whole wacken 2013 concert is golden so well recorded. MY favourite song selection from that that concert would be: "Ghost river, Story time, I want my tears back, Dark chest of wonders" and "last ride of the day". Thank you for the reaction
Nightwish is from Finland and the lead singer is Floor Jansen from Holland. She's a fricking beast and will give you a Floorgasm! But, I'd want to be Jukka, the drummer. He's incredible.
My personal favorite Nightwish compositions are "Song of Myself" performed at Wacken 2013 and "Pan," off their new album. "Pan" hasn't been performed live yet and I'm guessing what they do with it live will be much more exciting than the studio version but, in the meantime, you won't be disappointed in either of these. I also really enjoy "Storytime" and "Last Ride of the Day" (both from Wacken 2013), "The Islander" from Tampere (which features Marco, the bass player, on vocals, with Floor as backup), and "Shoemaker" from their new album, which features Floor like you've never heard her. If you're only interested in Floor's voice, you could do worse than to watch the 2019 season of the Dutch television show "Beste Zangers" A couple of Nightwish Fans have made certain it's available with English subtitles (@jenniezelf and Denise Hofs). In that show you will see Floor perform opera, rock, pop, salsa, and folk in German, Dutch, English, and Spanish. You'll also see amazing zingers perform her songs. It's well worth it.
Nightwish army coming. Follow the suggestions and you will have reaction video material or months to come and your channel will grow significantly. You just scratched the surface to a whole world of amazing music not typically heard in the U.S.
Hai great reaction...... This one knocked your socks 🧦 off. Please watch it again but then the Wacken 2013 version.. This gig will knock off the roof and the rest 😜😜😜👌🤘🤘🤘🤘 Stay safe..... And hell yeah subscribed
@@MettalMaffiaOfficial the Wacken 2013 concert is considered a seminal event every single song is incredible ,NW is always best Live, the fan base is massive & very active on YT ,the Wacken 2013 GLS is the most reacted to song in YT history, and Floor is the most reacted to singer. you may want to do a re reaction to the Wacken version its that much better.
Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard. ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!!
The fan facing the stage? It was scorching hot outside so it must have been at least 110 degrees or something in that theater. (That's why they were pouring water down people's throats) 🔥🔥🔥
This is the entire set-list of Wacken 2013 Open Air Nightwish show. Any song from this show is EPIC. th-cam.com/play/PLzEMSKuVo3lcOUWs_bi8OCtX4kMv_D6kl.html Enjoy. Floor is a vocal coach, and she has classical training too.
She started singing in metal bands at 16. She has training and is a vocal coach. Nightwish had fired their singer and Floor came in as a temporary replacement. In this concert she is barely with them for a month and a half yet she not only mastered one of the most difficult song lists she proved that she was a perfect fit. At the end of this song you will hear them screaming Floor, Floor and they just met her.
Awesome reaction. Floor was not officially with nightwish, she called emergency fill in for the previous singer Annette was released from the band. Floor had two days to learn the set list. Floor had six years of vocal training 4 years at rock academy studied opera and musical theatre
Eyes like a wolf, voice like an eagle, mouth like a lion. Hair that is just another instrument to be played. Heart like an elk. Floor Jansen is the tall dark angel of music.
This show was pretty good but Floor had only been with the band a few months at this time. Check out the song from the Wacken show to see them once Floor had become more comfortable with the band and material.
One year of opera, one year of musical theatre, four years of Rock Academy, singing in metal bands from the age of 16, starting in 1997 with After Forever. She had been with Nightwish a little over two months when this performance was shot and she was an emergency replacement flown in with 48 hours to learn the setlist. There's a YT documentary on it. Just search "Nightwish 48 hours to learn the setlist". She ranges from opera to death metal growls. "Big crowd" nah, Wembley Arena over 15,000, Tampere over 20,000, Wacken Open Air 82,000. And no, it's not coming from the keys. Nightwish works with the London Philharmonic orchestra and Metro Voices of London to produce the backing tracks for this music. If you're interested in seeing other aspects of Floor's voice, well that will take a while, but I'll drop one in here: "Yours is an Empty Hope" Wembley 2015, and you think this was the badass, metal Floor? th-cam.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/w-d-xo.html
"She is Bad Ass", and in this concert a little under the weather!! She did this song during their headlining performance at Wacken Open Air Metal Festival in 2013 before 82k+ rabid fans, and she was in top form. Also, in that concert she had been with the band for only 10 months. I consider that performance more epic than this one. For best experience in watching and reacting to this tight band, stay with their live performances. Their stage presence and production quality is awesome. The 2013 Wacken concert is considered by most to be their pinnacle live performance. Great reaction. I really enjoy watching metal pros experience Nightwish, especially their first reaction. New subscriber, keep em coming. By the way, Northeast Ohio!! I was born and raised in a little farming town in North Central Ohio, Bucyrus. Now living in the great high desert of Southern Arizona. Ron, 72 yrs young thanks to this music. Stay safe.
Nightwish and Floor......... legendary and a band that are a great fit, happy together :D I am sure it would have already been mentioned she was just a few shows in with the band.... Nightwish has such a wide variety of music. Ghost River, Song of myself, Devil & the deep dark ocean (Buenos Aries Show) Romanitcide Poet and the Pendulum are some of my favorites
The singer, Floor Jansen, studied music at the Dutch Rock Academy and the Conservatorium Tilburg where she studied Musical Theatre and one year of Opera. She joined the band After Forever and founded ReVamp after this band disbanded and worked as a vocal coach for a time. Eventually she got a call from Nightwish (they knew her from previous tours) just two days before their next show in Seattle, to stand in for their previous vocalist Anette Olzon in the middle of the American leg of their world tour in October 2012. There is a documentary about this tour "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours". This show here took place in Buenos Aires when Floor was just a few weeks with the band. The show at Wacken Open Air festival in August 2013 is better for future reactions like "Storytime", "Song of myself", "Romanticide" , "Ever Dream", "Last ride of the day" or any other song performed at this legendary show. After Wacken she became a full member of Nightwish.
Floor was already full member on Wacken show. But we didn't know it yet. She became official member with Troy in June 2013 after Sauna Open Air show Tampere.
My two favorite things of this version was 1.Empuu smiling like a proud family member when she nails that note and 2. The crowd screaming in amazement and appreciation mid note knowing how she nailed that final part.
I love this version just for the end when the crowd is chanting her name Floor Floor Floor Floor! She had replaced Annette just 6 weeks earlier..so she had to feel so great and the rest of the band had to be so happy and the rest is history and now she’s the Valkyrie legend 😂
Watch the poet and the pendelum, sleeping sun, dead boys poem, shoemaker, the greatest show on earth; the list is almost endless!! Great reaction. She was also on a dutch show, called “ beste zangers 2019”. She’s an amazing artist!!
In case you were wondering, the drummer, Jukka Nevalainen, had to step down from drumming after this tour, due to a three-year on-going battle with insomnia. He has since been replaced by a good friend, Kai Hahto (formerly WinterSun drummer). However, in 2019, he did play a couple of shows, and only one song -- and he wants to _really_ get back on the kit. He is a straight-up Legendary BEAST. #IMissThePirate
@@MettalMaffiaOfficial : I know. I personally suffer from insomnia -- which is why, if I had one wish, I would take Jukka's insomnia from him and bear it myself. What makes it even worse is how he loves his craft, and misses his kit like a friend he hasn't seen in years. It is truly heart-breaking to have to give up something you love, because you feel that doing it puts your health at risk. Thing is, I know why his insomnia happened -- and what he can do to deal with it. Basically, I think he would need to become very practiced at meditation so that he wouldn't need any meds, as well as calming his mind. He does that, he could come back -- especially since its been 6 years since he had to step down.
The previous singer left the band in September 2012 and this is December of that same year. She was still making this song her own at this point. Although a good version here I personally prefer the Wacken 2013 show. By that time the band was meshing really well together and it was in front of 70.000+ fans.
Too late I know, but 2013 Wacken concert is the way to go on this, just for the quality of audio and video recording. Plus Floor is one year into Nightwish journey and you can see her growth in just this one year. Even if you don't react to it, take a look at that version.
Floor is a clinic each and every time she sings. She was with the band only a short while when this was recorded, the Wacken 2013 LIVE version is even better as she was with the band 10 months by then. BTW she was brought in mid tour to replace the other singer and learned the set list in 48 hours!!!! They love her in South America along with the band. If you want to hear her solo doing various songs, in various genres, and in various languages check out Beste Zangers where she weekly wrecked the set with her emotional performances. Her range is opera, metal, growling, pop, jazz and what ever else she want to do. It is said by many that most singers sing what they can Floor sings what she wants and thus Nightwish can do anything and know it will come out great. If you want a heavier metal sound try either Ghost River or Romanticide both from the Wacken 2013 concert or for the growling try Yours is an Empty Hope from Wembley!!!
Oh, such a shame you didn't review the live at Wacken 2013 'Ghost Love Score', you would be even more impressed! That particular concert was something special, EVERY song performed at that gig was just perfect, even magical!
Nice reaction! You shuold have reacted to the Wacken 2013 live version instead. Usually the Buenos Aries lives miss out on the whole production side. Look at Wacken 2013, Wembley or Tampere for the best versions and productions of Nightwish live.
Facts : 1 in this concert floor isnt yet a full member of nighwish , she replaced annette olzon a few months earlier . 2 -floor is classical trained , she did rock academy and conservathory in netherlands ( i think she dont finish)3 - floor start singing in bands at her 17years old ( after forever ) she's 39 now .4- her tone and range and the way she control a crowd are out of this world , i think that note is a g5 flat , but in her version of " phantom of the opera " in dutch tv show she holds a D6 for 8 seconds 5 - she can do anything from power metal to opera ( you must check floor in a g. pucinni aria " o mio bambino caro "6- for ne its easy ,i had a programm in portugueese radio of alternative music ( in portugal its everything who dont sounds like pop and rock) and i know floor's music and nightwish for more than 20 years . 7 - if you think you can feel the energy on a video you are wrong , you must be there in the middle of the crowd , and its a kind of magic . im 54 years old ,i saw almost all the great bands in the last 30 years ,and i never saw nothing like nightwish live , i was in wacken 2013 and lisbon 2016 , different countrys, different set , different crowd , and the magic was the same . Keep digging untill you find a bad nightwish's or floor's song .i started that way : gonna do a nightwish song till find a bad one . I still here for almost 25 years and i wake up with nighwish everyday, its my alarm clock .i dont know a day without listening nightwish in the last 15 years at least ( since end of an era with tarja ).- greetings from portugal .
Great reaction, thanks! Yeah I think you should do another reaction to this song from Wacken 2013. You could compare and contrast the "club" show vs. the BIG show (Waken) and how they change things from a few thousand people to the 82,000 (!!!!) people at Wacken. I think it would be very interesting for us non musicians to learn how bands change things to fit the venue and size of a show.
This is Floor's fourth band-she led her own band before joining Nightwish. She does everything including death-metal, but with Nightwish it's mostly symphonic metal. She had some classical training. Princess is not quite the right image for her--she's 6' tall and can wield a 30-lb sledgehammer (there's actually a video). The more common term is Valkyrie. There is a ton more history, if you are interested. Their first singer, Tarja Turunen is also legendary. Some reactors have done dozens of reactions just to Nightwish, because everything they do is so epic.
Welcome 🙏 to Wonderland children. This is right when Floor Jansen was asked to join, I believe before she was announced as permanent (don’t quote me on that tidbit). Now you need to watch the 2013 WACKEN concert of the same song and hear and see how polished this band becomes in just one tour!
Yes, not many people listen to this version and I'm glad u did! Floor. Had only been in the band mere weeks at the time of this show and just goes to show what an amazing vocalist she is! Great reaction, 8x on deck! 🤘
L V T and Dean (?) ......Nice reaction, thank you. Keep it Live, Wacken, Wembley, Tampere, Buenos Aires should keep you busy for a while. Welcome to The world of Nightwish, enjoy ! Nightwish Army will have some requests.
So, you guys get it 😎 Thank you for being genuine and thoughtful 😊 So, here’s the thing about Nightwish. They’re all as talented as Floor in their own ways and they’re also what I call a stealth super group. Almost everyone in the band is in other musical ventures with the support of everyone else. Floor was a superstar in many genres and languages on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers and you really should watch some of her performances to broaden your appreciation of her talent! Then there’s her project/album Northward with Viggo Lofgren from Pagan Mind - Be sure to check out the official video for While Love Died and listen to the rest of the album when you can. Then go back to her older bands Revamp and After Forever. Marko is on bass, occasional guitar, and vocals with Nightwish, but he’s also been with the band Tarot and recently released his first solo album Pyre of the Black Heart along with doing a solo tour. Stones got an official music video, but check out the live video Death March for Freedom! The drummer in this video is Jukka. He had to stop playing due to severe insomnia, but he’s still with the band in management and brought his friend Kai in to take his place. Kai is also in Wintersun. Tuomas is on keyboards and writes/composes 90+% of the music. He’s also released a solo album The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (seriously cheek out A Lifetime of Adventure from that album!) and now has a project called Auri with his wife Johanna and another member of Nightwish, Troy Donockly. So... Troy... Troy is on vocals, pipes, whistles, guitar, bizouki, and probably a few other things LOL! He’s pretty folky and definitely awesome 😉 Then there’s Emppu. I don’t think he’s in any other bands, but he’s understated. You’ll notice a distinct lack of mistakes in all their songs. He does shred a bit in Romanticide, but he always plays what the song needs, plays with feeling, and never goes overboard. Recommendations... Wait a while for The Poet and the Pendulum, research what it’s about, and read/keep the lyrics at hand if they’re not subtitled. Wait for The Greatest Show on Earth until after Poet. versatile vocalist, Jansen can sing from ethereal, classical and operatic singing, to powerful belting, and aggressive, raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. She is a soprano. Jansen started studying music at the Dutch Rock Academy in 1999, entering the Conservatorium Tilburg three years later. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. Later, she started teaching . . Great reaction ! Try Romanticide ,or yours is an empty hope. A bit heavier
Nice reaction! You have crossed the point of no return... try SONG OF MYSELF, ROMANTICIDE, GHOST RIVER, YOURS IS AN EMPTY HOPE, STORYTIME, EVER DREAM, I WANT MY TEARS BACK and so on. Always LIVE versions!!!

ah guys wish you had done the Wacken 2013 MUCH MUCH better quality and performance, oh well
@@nicod1361 - Rock In Rio 2015?
As to your question I think it was either a G5 or a Ab6?
Please make different list of artist, like for Nightwish, so everyone can find the artist much more easier.
Go for the Dutch Queen!
Nice comments guys! 👌
Oh yes, go for Wacken 2013.
High quality! I think the best life show ever. 👍
Floor is classically trained, and is a vocal coach herself.
LOL NO SHIT! WOW THATS CRAZY, SHE NAILED IT!
I think, it wasn't more than 3 months, after she stepped in for Anette. AND Floor stepped in on 2 days' notice, after having a sabatical year, due to burnout. She saved Nightwish and Nightwish saved her, in a way.
@@rockaddicthamburg8599 I think that's fair. And we all reap the benefit.
Oh, and so you know... she can go higher. ;)
BRO CLUTCH INFO! THANK YOU!
@@MettalMaffiaOfficial Technically it's the London Philharmonic, not the London Symphony, but same idea.
it's the London Philharmonic actually
To be honest, I don't know of any other singer that could have pulled it off.
Floor is legendary, in her own right.
I think Floor was already somewhat familiar with the songs on the setlist. She wasn't new to Nightwish at all, just that she had never been their singer before.
@@jimmyboy131 She knew the Tarja stuff but not the Annete songs so they were completley new to her.
Great react! You need to check out their 2013 Wacken concert. Every song is incredible, played in front of an 82,000+ audience, totally involved. Song of Myself, Romanticide, Ghost River. Cheers!
You could edit once more: "Wacken" :)
@@monksuu LOL! Thanks Mika. Must have had Christopher on my brain. :)
@@jwilywily Well, Marko looks like Saruman so you weren't that far... ;)
So far the band has had 3 vocalists
1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005)
2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012)
3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of.
Band members
Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics)
Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals)
Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen Later (2015) replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues (The drummer)
Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player)
Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK)
The clip was shot a few weeks after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their 2012/2013 US leg of the world tour. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (th-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/w-d-xo.html )
As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link th-cam.com/video/gbn9GczYBkw/w-d-xo.html
BTW that last note she just sang? Nightwish fans created a whole new word for when she does something impressive like that. We call it a Floorgasm. Welcome to the club and boy are you going to receive a lot of traffic on your channel. ;-)
Any song Floor sings is a vocal clinic of how to. She does more than this.
Loved it! Peace.
Floor Jansen joined her first band, After Forever, when she was 16. A recent singer reaction said that belt is an Ab.
Yes...
But she easely reached a B6 on a Dutch TV show
Her vocal range is so insane
She can sing all what she wants
@@Louquet : If you're referring to Beste Zangers and Phantom of the Opera, it wasn't a B6, it was a D6.
Confirmed by a vocal coach, with a piano on video, as well as a tuner.
I don't think it's an A, though I could be wrong. I think it's a G.
Wacken version is 10 Times better 😉
See I've been in this line of thinking too, but you can't downplay the ending on this one. Floor is nuts!
Yes Wacken is better but not 10 times better. The ending here is a bit different but still awesome.
This is 10 times better than Costa Rica, earlier the same year! Check it out!?
MANW INDEED LOL
And I think the whole crowd shouting "Floor!" at the end in unison.
The guitar solo is the same melody Floor was just singing. The crowd absolutely knew it!
Awesome reaction, thx! Keep on rockin! Few of my Nightwish favorites are Storytime & Song of Myself!
And thats one of their softer songs.
Try " yours is an empty hope " live from wembley. Floor growls in this one
They did Romanticide already.
You need to do the full Wacken 2013 concert and Wembley 2015 both Nightwish.
Check out some songs with the bassist on vocals as well, like Phantom of the Opera, from Century Child (2002).
Great reaction please also check Song of Myself live from Wacken 2013
Floor started off in Rock Academy, studied classic soprano singing in conservatory and studied musical theatre singing as well... She also is a vocal coach and has decades of experience.. Best female voice on the planet from this generation.
One minor quibble: Please don't compare Floor to Stevie Nicks. Stevie's cute, but Floor is on a completely different level. The only comparisons I think make sense are to Freddie Mercury or to professional opera singers who do pop songs as well.
FAIR ENOUGH AND NOTED!
Though Stevie really grabs me in "Edge Of Seventeen". When her voice gets dirty, she is a real queen. But you are right. Floor is in a vocal galaxy with no more, than a handful of singers in it.
better Stevie Knicks then Amy Lee XP
Don't be ridiculous. It is human nature to make comparisons to things you already know. We build our knowledge off our previous experiences. Comments like this are the reason I usually avoid online fandoms.
@@DougsShack Yet he's right. They aren't remotely alike.
Wacken 2013 version is the best one.
Long career with this band :-)))))))))))))))))))
Dude - this was in mid-December, and her first performance with Nightwish was on 1st October, after having to learn the setlist (famously) in 48 hours after getting a call at her sister's wedding in the Netherlands on 29th September, asking her if she was willing to fly in as emergency stand-in to Salt Lake City, and with a single rehearsal before her first performance in Seattle!
Love it! Thank you. Please do the whole Wacken 2013 set list/concert!
The whole wacken 2013 concert is golden so well recorded. MY favourite song selection from that that concert would be: "Ghost river, Story time, I want my tears back, Dark chest of wonders" and "last ride of the day". Thank you for the reaction
Wow that is amazing for being live. Something I wouldn't normally listen too but that was pretty damn good. Being there would of been epic!
And that wasn’t even the really outstanding version. Keep em coming!🤘🖤😃
Nightwish army coming. Follow the suggestions and you will have reaction video material or months to come and your channel will grow significantly. You just scratched the surface to a whole world of amazing music not typically heard in the U.S.

Enjoy.
Floor is a vocal coach, and she has classical training too.
Floor Jansen went to a school of rock, has opera vocal training and theater training. She prepared herself to be a great singer and performer.
Floor Jansen is the tall dark angel of music.
and the Wacken 2013 version of this song is even more EPIC...
"That's a huge crowd"

Floor studied rock but had also opera training, did not do the full opera study though.

That last high note is a D6.
She is the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal
In case you were wondering, the drummer, Jukka Nevalainen, had to step down from drumming after this tour, due to a three-year on-going battle with insomnia.
He has since been replaced by a good friend, Kai Hahto (formerly WinterSun drummer). However, in 2019, he did play a couple of shows, and only one song -- and he wants to _really_ get back on the kit. He is a straight-up Legendary BEAST.
#IMissThePirate
Damn insomnia is no joke! 😭
He does that, he could come back -- especially since its been 6 years since he had to step down.
well, but you chose the wrong show, you had to get a concert where Floor was more integrated into the Band, like in Wacken.
The previous singer left the band in September 2012 and this is December of that same year. She was still making this song her own at this point. Although a good version here I personally prefer the Wacken 2013 show. By that time the band was meshing really well together and it was in front of 70.000+ fans.
82 000 people's
Too late I know, but 2013 Wacken concert is the way to go on this, just for the quality of audio and video recording. Plus Floor is one year into Nightwish journey and you can see her growth in just this one year. Even if you don't react to it, take a look at that version.
"She's like a power metal Stevie Nicks!"
Now that's one comparison I haven't heard yet, but tend to agree on some levels. Good one!!!
Floor wasn't even officially a part of this band yet.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra always records the symphonic parts for Nightwish.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Nightwish!! Enjoy the ride. Check out the Wakken 2013 performance of this song.
Oh, such a shame you didn't review the live at Wacken 2013 'Ghost Love Score', you would be even more impressed! That particular concert was something special, EVERY song performed at that gig was just perfect, even magical!
Aaaaand... two more fall under the spell of the Dutch Valkyrie Goddess of Metal
There is only one Floor 6' 1'' Power house Siren/Angel and you heard the crown chant her name at the end.
It’s not the note, it’s a FLOORGASM! ❤️
Great reaction, thanks! Yeah I think you should do another reaction to this song from Wacken 2013. You could compare and contrast the "club" show vs. the BIG show (Waken) and how they change things from a few thousand people to the 82,000 (!!!!) people at Wacken. I think it would be very interesting for us non musicians to learn how bands change things to fit the venue and size of a show.
live at wacken 2013 is much better for a true show of Floors' vocal control and stage command, she is the Night Wish warrior princess
IT SURE IS EPIC!
The Greatest Show On Earth - LIve in Tampere is a blast!
So, you guys get it 😎 Thank you for being genuine and thoughtful 😊
So, here’s the thing about Nightwish.
He’s pretty folky and definitely awesome 😉
Then there’s Emppu.
For now, I recommend Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean and Slaying the Dreamer live in Buenos Aires; Shudder Before the Beautiful, Alpenglow, My Walden, While Your Lips are Still Red, Yours is an Empty Hope, and Seven Days to the Wolves from Wembly; The Islander, Stargazers, and Sleeping Sun from Tampere; and from Waken 2013, Ghost Love Score, Romanticide, Song of Myself, and Last Ride of the Day 😎
For some fun between Nightwish songs, check out a couple of Floor’s friends in Epica with beginning recommendations (official studio video) Storm the Sorrow, (the rest live) Consign to Oblivion (live at Zenith), Chasing the Dragon, Unleashed, Sancta Terra, Reverence (Living in the Heart), and Design Your Universe 👍
Welcome aboard the roller coaster thrill ride and above anything I’ve said before, ENJOY THE RIDE 🤘😎🎸
versatile vocalist, Jansen can sing from ethereal, classical and operatic singing, to powerful belting, and aggressive, raspy vocals like screaming and death growls.
WE DID ROMANTICIDE and LOOOOVED IT!
@@MettalMaffiaOfficial I just watched.. you guys are great !
Awe thank you very much! You are AWESOME!
At the Wacken 2013 version Floor and the band were even better. They were getting used to each other here. And oh yeah it was hotter then a sauna.
And yes...
She is one of the best frontmen or women ever.
The Whacken(?) 2013 is the best performance.
I love this version 💕💕💕 Greetings from The Netherlands 😎😁👍 Love to see you react to Floors old band "Revamp with the song "Disdain" live at "Graspop"
Floor is coming from the Netherland and her first band was After Forever. Try Dreamflight of After Forever, live of course...She is indeed the Metal Queen...
Subbed for Nightwish 🤘
