And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw, you liked the powerful performance of the band. Hope you'll continue on this path. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Welcome to NW BRIDGECO, you just met our 6ft Queen Floor Jansen (Dutch) 3rd and current frontwoman of the Finnish Symphonic Metalband NW. She is incredible. 10 Months earlier she came as a substitute for Anette Olzon, who became sick in the middle of a world tour and had to go to the hospital. NW called Floor and she said yes. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hours (there is a documentary about that) and did this on the flight from the Netherlands to Salt Lake City, where she joined the band on their way to Seattle for the next concert. GLS wasn't even on the list, but because she loved this song so much, NW put it on the list. The last part of the song the previous singer(s) didn't do, so she made it her own, with as result 10 months later at Wacken 2013 this MASTERPIECE. When she belt so high, you get shivers or goosebumps, we call that a FLOORGASM. Congrats with your first one. I was on that concert and I kinda regret I just stood by the side, cause before the start I thought:"Oh I saw them 5years ago at Rock am Ring. I don't need to be in the front". Enchanting is absolutely the right word.

Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. The greatest live rock performance since Queen at live Aid, this whole concert was at 200 mph, nobody knew it at the time but this was a coming out party for Floor (the lead singer) as she had been asked to join the band full time (being a temporary member from 2012). Greetings, and welcome to Nightwish and symphonic metal. I hear the marching feet of the Nightwish Army!!! The 6 foot, Dutch Goddess of all things vocal is Floor Jansen. She is classically trained and knows more about the anatomy of and how to use the vocal mechanism than any singer you will ever hear. She prides herself a nerd on the topic of breath control in the diaphragm , rib muscles and lungs, to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and absolutely everything in between. She is the 3rd and current singer for the band and was acquired by chance. 2nd singer, Anette Olzon was fired from the band on September 29, 2012 during their Imaginaerum World Tour at which time keyboard player, Tuomas, called Floor and asked if she could fill in for the remainder of the tour. As she agreed, she was also told she had only 48 hours to learn the set list for her debut on October 1st in Seattle, Washington. It is also important to point out that at the time of the call, Floor was recovering from burnout as she was going through a tough time with her band ReVamp. Floor was made a permanent member along with multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley (UK) in June 2013. Up until 2015, when Nightwish recorded their first official studio album with Floor, none of the songs she performed were written or recorded in the studio with her as the singer. for a song 14 songs in to the set I think they knocked this one out of the park! This whole concert recording is incredible you can feel the energy and to have been lucky enough to have been there would have been amazing :D All their songs are different and there is a Nightwish song for every mood. For a band that has been around for 25 years there are an awful lot of people just discovering them through youtube...enjoy your journey!

There are no bad songs and each one you hear will become your new favorite. That might sound ridiculous but we have seen it over and over again. This is a live band. This is a rarity that the live music is better than the engineered versions. Stick with live. I see General Gabriel has arrived to give you a road map and a history to help you on this most magical of journeys. A few of my suggestions outside of this concert venue, Yours is an empty Hope, Wembley. Tuomas Holopainen, the band's keyboardist/composer of 95+% of their music co-adapted the album that Nightwish was touring to support here ("Imaginaerum") into an honest to goodness low budget dark fantasy film of the same name. He also did a solo album that was a sort of "score" to a graphic novel. Oh, and he's a BIG Disney fan! :D

Welcome Bridgeco into the wonderful world of storytelling by Nightwish. You just heard Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen). Although this band is Finnish their 3rd female vocalist isn’t, she is Dutch. Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in Goirle the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. She studied Musical Theatre and one year Opera. She plays guitar, piano and flute and has completed 12 years of music studies. She’s a Light Lyric Soprano and her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested. When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013. This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. Congratulations to both Tarja and Anneta on the performance of this song. Each of them performed this song in their own special way and it sounds great, but hand on heart, watching the performances of Ghost Love Score, I have the impression that Tuomas was waiting for someone to elevate this song to where it belongs. It was Wacken 2013 and Floor Jansen together with the whole band and this unique atmosphere that put this song at the very top and hardly anyone will ever take them off it. This performance is a masterpiece and will occupy the very top for a long time to come. Hardly anyone will soon perform something like Ghost Love Score, Wacken air open 2013
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player is in my opinion a modern day Mozart...I mean that literally. He is just so talented at composing the best music!

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.

Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Welcome to NW BRIDGECO, you just met our 6ft Queen Floor Jansen (Dutch) 3rd and current frontwoman of the Finnish Symphonic Metalband NW. She is incredible. 10 Months earlier she came as a substitute for Anette Olzon, who became sick in the middle of a world tour and had to go to the hospital. NW called Floor and she said yes. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hours (there is a documentary about that) and did this on the flight from the Netherlands to Salt Lake City, where she joined the band on their way to Seattle for the next concert. GLS wasn't even on the list, but because she loved this song so much, NW put it on the list. The last part of the song the previous singer(s) didn't do, so she made it her own, with as result 10 months later at Wacken 2013 this MASTERPIECE. When she belt so high, you get shivers or goosebumps, we call that a FLOORGASM. Congrats with your first one. I was on that concert and I kinda regret I just stood by the side, cause before the start I thought:"Oh I saw them 5years ago at Rock am Ring. I don't need to be in the front".

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. "What did we just watch?"
A. The greatest live rock performance since Queen at live Aid, this whole concert was at 200 mph, nobody knew it at the time but this was a coming out party for Floor (the lead singer) as she had been asked to join the band full time (being a temporary member from 2012).

The 6 foot, Dutch Goddess of all things vocal is Floor Jansen. She is classically trained and knows more about the anatomy of and how to use the vocal mechanism than any singer you will ever hear.
She prides herself a nerd on the topic of breath control in the diaphragm , rib muscles and lungs, to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and absolutely everything in between.
She is the 3rd and current singer for the band and was acquired by chance.
2nd singer, Anette Olzon was fired from the band on September 29, 2012 during their Imaginaerum World Tour at which time keyboard player, Tuomas, called Floor and asked if she could fill in for the remainder of the tour.
As she agreed, she was also told she had only 48 hours to learn the set list for her debut on October 1st in Seattle, Washington.
It is also important to point out that at the time of the call, Floor was recovering from burnout as she was going through a tough time with her band ReVamp.
Floor was made a permanent member along with multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley (UK) in June 2013.
Up until 2015, when Nightwish recorded their first official studio album with Floor, none of the songs she performed were written or recorded in the studio with her as the singer.

for a song 14 songs in to the set I think they knocked this one out of the park! This whole concert recording is incredible you can feel the energy and to have been lucky enough to have been there would have been amazing :D All their songs are different and there is a Nightwish song for every mood. For a band that has been around for 25 years there are an awful lot of people just discovering them through youtube...enjoy your journey!

There are no bad songs and each one you hear will become your new favorite. That might sound ridiculous but we have seen it over and over again. This is a live band. This is a rarity that the live music is better than the engineered versions. Stick with live.
I see General Gabriel has arrived to give you a road map and a history to help you on this most magical of journeys. A few of my suggestions outside of this concert venue, Yours is an empty Hope, Wembley. "Do these people score movies?" Weeeell... kinda-sorta. Tuomas Holopainen, the band's keyboardist/composer of 95+% of their music co-adapted the album that Nightwish was touring to support here ("Imaginaerum") into an honest to goodness low budget dark fantasy film of the same name. He also did a solo album that was a sort of "score" to a graphic novel. Oh, and he's a BIG Disney fan! :D

Welcome Bridgeco into the wonderful world of storytelling by Nightwish. You just heard Floor Jansen (pronounce Yahn-Sen). Although this band is Finnish their 3rd female vocalist isn’t, she is Dutch. Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in Goirle the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. She studied Musical Theatre and one year Opera. She plays guitar, piano and flute and has completed 12 years of music studies. She’s a Light Lyric Soprano and her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons.
On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer.

If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested.
When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013.
This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. Congratulations to both Tarja and Anneta on the performance of this song. Each of them performed this song in their own special way and it sounds great, but hand on heart, watching the performances of Ghost Love Score, I have the impression that Tuomas was waiting for someone to elevate this song to where it belongs. It was Wacken 2013 and Floor Jansen together with the whole band and this unique atmosphere that put this song at the very top and hardly anyone will ever take them off it. This performance is a masterpiece and will occupy the very top for a long time to come. Hardly anyone will soon perform something like Ghost Love Score, Wacken air open 2013
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player is in my opinion a modern day Mozart...I mean that literally. He is just so talented at composing the best music!
