    The presidents of UCLA, Northwestern and Rutgers universities were questioned Thursday on Capitol Hill about pro-Palestine protests on campus Thursday, the fourth time in six months that the Republican-led House Education Committee has summoned school leaders to Washington over accusations of antisemitism. Lawmakers reserved their heaviest questioning for the presidents of Northwestern and Rutgers, where Gaza solidarity encampments were voluntarily dismantled after students negotiated deals with university administrators. Northwestern journalism professor Steven Thrasher, who has been an outspoken supporter of the Gaza solidarity encampments at his school and elsewhere, was singled out during the hearing and described as a “goon,” but he tells Democracy Now! he is undeterred in both his pro-Palestine advocacy and defense of his students. “It’s supposed to scare everybody who supports Gaza. It’s supposed to scare everybody who’s against the genocide. It’s supposed to scare students who are righteously standing up against the killing that’s happening,” says Thrasher.

    Professor Steven Thrasher seems to be as intelligent as he is kind! People like him give me hope. I'm a Jewish American, my grandmother was a Holocaust from Poland and told me a lot about her experiences. The speed and cruelty of this was in Gaza is surpassing the Holocaust, and the fact that Netanyahu has full US support is sickening. Thank you to everyone speaking out against this atrocious assault on innocent Palestinians.

Jewish Voice for Peace, If Not Now, and Not in Our Name are just some examples of Jewish groups opposing this genocide. Even my family members in Israel disagree with Netanyahu’s handling of this. My cousins best friend was killed in the 10/7 attack, but they recognize Netanyahu allowed 10/7 to happen as his excuse to carry out his genocide against Palestinians. He hasn’t brought the hostages home, he hasn’t even tried. It is well documented(feel free to research for yourself), that Israeli intelligence had prior knowledge of the 10/7 attack, months and months before the attack. Many Rabbis and other Jewish leaders have been arrested defending their stance against Netanyahu.     The answer is that the protesters need to start meeting in Halls and other public places where they do have a right to assemble there. Line up your own sources of news reporters coverages, invite others to come and listen or, not. But within reason with facts of the day to support truth being told, lawyer up! , know your protected rights! And vote your beliefs!

    All many of these students and people around the world want is freedom for Palestine 🇵🇸 InshaAllah. Most of us here are free to move about and come and go as we please with no check point and no one controls our ability to buy or sell, why cant the Palestinians have that same life, a life without walls and check points. I'll be driving to Boston Massachusetts to be with my children for this long weekend and while many of us are at BBQs and having fun think, all the people of Palestine 🇵🇸 want is the life many of us take for granted.
