Its called a c63 because of the original 68’ 300SEL which you guessed it had a 6.3 engine.

It’s cool to learn something new about the car! I really wish AMG would make another naturally aspirated engine but that will probably never happen.

Which one? The C36 has 220,000 miles on it and still going strong. The only C63 issue I've heard of is head bolts breaking and that's 1 in 1,000 cars. Honestly to me it's to be expected with a race engine. Have to pay to play!

Throttle Report the camshafts prematurely wear on the c63, and it costs like 8k to get aftermarket ones, and the oiling issue is what causes the wear. that was resolved in the m159 is why I would get an aftermarket oil pump

From what I read on the forums it seems to randomly affect engines and around 100,000 miles. Currently we have 31,000 on the C63 and it’s 10 years old so at this rate, in 20 years we will still be good 😂. I think the car has been driven 5 times in the past year and mostly that was to make this video! Haha. Every engine has issues. My 2004 GMC 5.3 V8 was supposed to be bulletproof and the cam bearing came out of the journal at 150,000 and smoked the engine because it lost oil pressure. 🙄

Throttle Report I just feel bad if I gamble on getting one, that I will have to replace the camshafts myself and get billet ones, and aftermarket adjusters and an oil pump, I have to find either a 507 or a p31. It’s my favorite car, and I would use it as a daily driver. But I totally get that idea of reliability, every engine isn’t perfect. I REAALLLY want a C63 though!
