    Des- Another great video, and you’re still the best at this! I’ve found the Amazfit to be on par with my Garmin Venu 2, in both running HR and GPS data. I’m doing very steady-state runs, however. I keep coming back to the watch for the screen quality and the battery. As you call out, those are both great. Easy watch to use!

    Nice one Des! I had the same... bleh results from the HR sensor on the T-Rex Pro. Interestingly, some commenters suggested to turn off "stress tracking" which is supposed to increase the accuracy in some magical way but that wasn't the case for me. Excellent video! 👍

    Thanks for taking the time to make such a great in-depth video - it was really helpful. I'm looking to purchase a budget GPS watch to accurately track my running distance and heart rate etc - would you recommend this or the Garmin Forerunner 55? (I'm also looking for something fairly rugged.)

  • @jasonwells9976
    @jasonwells9976 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great review have one and yep the heart rate tracking is well a bit all over the place. Was ok when I did a turbo training bike ride and was close to chest readings but mountain biking it's a bit all over the places. GPS tracking is OK and I would say better than my Fitbit Ionic.
    Now thinking of getting a Polar Grit X as be offered one at a good price.

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In all fairness heart rate for MTB is all over the place for pretty much all watches due to the constant movement, bouncing, and gripping, but even so, the HR on this watch is sub par. I’d still rely on an external HRM if you want accurate heart rate for MTB. Thanks!

    Nice video! Bought the watch nevertheless to add to my Fenix 3 and F935. For events and training my go to would still be F935. Just needed a rugged sports watch for my other activities like camping and some mild hiking. The F935 glass scratches so easily and with my aging hindsight, the OLED screen of the Amazfit works great! And can probably wear this to work instead of the F935 which I wear almost 365/24/7. Time for the girl to have some rest!

    I bought this device more or less one month ago and I've dressed h24. I noticed that the count of steps is quite good, gives numbers that are consistant with other devices (the difference is around 1-2%) and doesn't count when I'm driving my car or my bike, but there are activities (playing drums, doing jumping jack or simply grinding parmesan for pasta) that activate the count.
    The heart rate measure when I'm quiet is really accurate and seems good also until 90-100 bpm when I do a quick walk, checked many times. I have to check the behaviour you noticed with vibrations on my bike. I'll try on sunday, if forecast and sons let me do it.
    The GPS is good and I never had problems with signal lost, even after hours of use. The accuracy is good, nothing that make me cry to a miracle, but better than most of smartphones and adeguate to a "normal" use. I tried to measure the repeteability walking more times on the same path around my home and the "error" is more or less 2 meters.

      Unfortunately, Wear OS, Tizen, and Watch OS are your options if you want an app store, and none come close to touching the durability of the T-Rex, except the Casio G-Shock Wear OS model. Which is much, much more expensive.
      For a rugged smartwatch, the T-Rex and T-Rex Pro are your best options that don't break the bank.

      I have this watch and it worked well for every exercise apart from outdoor bike riding so I tried again with the watch super tight on my wrist and it tracked my ride well. Now I'm not 100% sure, but I think the band itself is very springy so the watch can bounce around if you don't have it really tight on the wrist.

    If anyone has a solution to my issue, please educate me! The website for this watch claims the watch is your "partner in exploration" and "No matter where you go, you’ll always know where you are" but I don't see how this watch can actually do this. It seems to export it to the phone rather than just give you the coordinates. Why is there no way for it to give you this on the watch, and why cant it have a simple direction arrow towards a GPS target your input or mark (ie: your car, geocaching location, trailhead, meeting location from google maps, etc.) this is driving me crazy and I have huge buyers remorse at the moment.

    Which one should buy, Amazfit T-Rex Pro or Garmin Instinct Solar? I use it for running and some daily watch, so I prefer accurate HRM and GPS.

    I am doing training for half triathlon. Confused between T-rex pro, Garmin 245 and Garmin 935 (can't think for 945 due to budget). My major requirement is recovery. Please help.

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd suggest the 935 as that is the only one with true triathlon tracking capabilities.

    I have seen a few videos showing the T-Rex connected to a HR strap, so I think the info here may be incorrect. Apparently when you start an activity, you can then connect it.

    Does the stopwatch have splits/laps feature with designated physical buttons for start/stop Splits/reset etc? I do interval training so this feature is important to me.
    I've watch so many reviews about watches like these but none of them talk about feature like this? Hopefully in your future videos you can mention and show real quick if it does have this feature. Thanks!

    the most frustrating thing in this watch is you can't see the hour (main screen) e.g. during using stopper and no alarm icon on main screen

    are these watches better or should i go with garmin forerunner 55? please suggest, cause i am not sure why garmin are more costly, do they provide better quality of watch, gps and other things or are they taking more money because of ads and marketing

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's not about marketing. They have a more robust app and ecosystem which delivers more data and the feedback that they provide is meaningful based on years of experience.

    I have seen all your videos and the morei learned th emore confused i got... Coros Pace 2 vs fore runner 245 ?

    • @DesFit
      @DesFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both of those are good options. The Pace 2 can serve as a triathlon watch but I tend to prefer the usability of the FR245 with the 5 physical buttons vs the crown/dial on the Pace 2. The FR245 currently provides a bit more training feedback and insight as well.

    for the worst sleep accuracy please check Active2. i worked from 23(11pm) to 07am, surfing youtube, Whatsapp, playing a game, for short periods of time, using at least 6hours paired Buds plus, charging phone for 30 minutes and the next day it said i slept from 22 to 9 am !!!
    is i woke up at 6 and stay awake 2 hours not moving from bed it will count those 2 hours as sleep. i doubt anyone can make worse watches then Samsung!
